I'm looking for advice on what to change in Build Prop to get some apps to work in ICS.
HBO GO (says.my phone isn't supoorted)...I figured if I could fool app into working by changing the build prop??
CBS Fantasy Baseball app (won't update from version 1.0 ->1.1, says device.not compatible)....app was previously working. App still works but it has limited functionality.
I'm running Calkulins E4GT 2 ROM v1.4 FD02 kernel, FD05 modem w/tweaks.
Please advise what to change in build prop & what lines?
Thanks

Both of those appear to be incompatible with ICS and need to be updated by the developers. In the case of missing apps (like MLB At Bat 12 and woofi) you can change the ro.build.version.incremental, ro.build.description and ro.build.fingerprint lines in build.prop to these:
ro.build.version.incremental=XXLPQ
ro.build.description=GT-I9100-user 4.0.3 IML74K XXLPQ release-keys
ro.build.fingerprint=samsung/GT-I9100/GT-I9100:4.0.3/IML74K/XXLPQ:user/release-keys
And that will make them show up again. If the app isn't compatible with ICS, this won't do anything for you though.
Thank you for the response. I really do appreciate all the help.
How do you get the developer to fix for ICS? I'm assuming they don't really care...

The only way I know to attempt to get an update to an app is to message the developer through the app or to message them from the market link. There is no real way to "force" a developer to update. My guess is that ICS is not mainstream enough for everyone to update yet. There are a few apps that I use on a regular that haven't been updated. Good luck.
Thanks, I will give it a shot.

Datajosh, I have the paid Ximonic Premium music app. The free one works on ICS but the paid one says not compatible for my device but I know it works because I used it on GB. It also installs on my NS4G so what should I change build.prop to reflect so I can install it? Thanks

If I remember correctly, you can't run it on Gingerbread the way it stands right now. And since the current smali/baksmali tools don't work on ICS APKs, we can't do anything to try and change it yet.
Think he means YouTube 2.2.6 which does work on Gingerbread. It isn't worth flashing though.
I'm coming from an Evo 4G and never had this problem...
I've come across several apps that say "your device is not compatible with this app" and wont let me DL it... what's this all about?
I'm rooted, running Calk's ROM with EL29 kernel and build and EK02 modem if that helps
An example is the Cut and Slice app in the market and Modern Combat games
Have you changed your screen density?
Need to be at default (160) or 720p (240)... those are known Android resolutions and the app market checks for that.

Not seeing this with blazer.
Just FYI.. I've side-loaded at least one app that I needed that said it was incompatible in the market and it worked fine
Also, I restored a version of one that has a lot of data with it and it works fine also.. the backup was made on GB and this is CM9 alpha 2 --- and that's prolly a no-no, but not having that app was the only thing standing in my way of liking 4.0.4 as a daily driver
I recently purchased the new app and it says that my Epic 4G Touch isn't compatible though it should he especially since I am reading the reviews and people with Samsung Nexus us able to.download it. Anyone with the same issue?
Get a refund, or wait for compatibility. Hate to say it, but them's the breaks sometimes. Galaxy Nexus =/= E4GT.
Of course, if you manage to get the .apk that is properly signed from the store (so you can get updates and such), you can try installing it directly and using the PowerVR plug-in for Chainfire.
I downloaded the lite version. This will be the first time in 3 yrs I won't buy it. I was reading the description of the paid version and ours wasnt on there yet but it will be

I'm having the same problem. The lite version works fine but when I try to upgrade it says device not compatible even though this device is listed as compatible. Hopefully its just an ics problem and will be updated.
Can anyone confirm if this installs on gingerbread? Or if a build prop edit will allow it to install?

You need to edit build.prop to get the full version of MLB At Bat on ICS, see my comments on the CM9 issue tracker for info on what to change.
What is the difference between lite and regular? i have an mlb subscription and can already stream all games. what does the regular add?

if you have the subscription it doesn't add anything, with the subscription it unlocks lite to be like the full version.

Damn...I edited the latest Codename rom buildprop with the 3 edits and still no dice. Lite works but At Bat 12 still doesnt show in market. Anybody else have an idea or get this to work on Codename rom?
Do I have to clear Market or MLB At Bat lite app data or do anything else after edits?
Why is it not working on my phone? I thought it didnt support outside of US. Im US tmobile, and its telling me that it isnt supported for my country
EDIT: btw running a stocked deodexed Rom

Just running a stock deodexed UVALH2 Rom with the custom sammy kernel.
It installs fine, but once I open it tells me "This app is not certified to work in this country" or something along those lines.
But i guess if i change the device in build.prop, it would fix this? What should I change?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
You need to install the modified Google wallet app and flash the lib file to get it working correctly and change build.prop, all found in that one google wallet fix thread.

Does anyone have wallet working on the tMIUI Rom?
I think tmobile does not support it at all. When I had my nexus never worked anywhere. I called Google they told me there is no transactions made by me at all, I made so many transactions but always was denied for no reason. I though I have defective phone. when I got my gs3 I tried the modified one and had the same problem. So I gave up.
With the latest update for Google wallet, can I update it thru the market or wait for a modified apk? Also I've seen multiple threads on how to install wallet on the S3. One way being for touchwiz ROMs and another for AOSP ROMs. can anyone point me in the direction for the AOSP install? I've tried with touchwiz and it didn't work with all the threads. So now I wanna see if there's a specific way for AOSP.
my touchwiz version worked great. I am now on AOSP and hopefully can get the newest wallet and tutorial on the install as well....i cant find that specific technique either.
I'm using Paranoid Android ROM which is CM10 based and I followed instruction on this thread to get my Wallet working on my SGIII without any problem.
I also used that thread when I was on TW ROM too... for AOSP based ROM, just don't install the lib&nfc fix

Not all OTA's work with the Google Wallet patch. For example:
I'm still running the very first UVALEM firmware with the OTA UVALH2 Radio/Modem. (I'm rooted, thus I was able to install a different radio)
I choose not to download any firmware update because I like Google Wallet that much, and because I don't care much about the Brightness Slider.
Has anyone found the newest hacked wallet apk? I think it was updated yesterday? also I read that if you want to add cards you have to change your build prop to Galaxy Nexus or HTC jewel, add the cards, reboot, then change the settings back to normal.
I read that the wallet doesn't work on LH2 ROMs. Does that mean I it won't work on my AOKP ROM?

Thats just your baseband. You can change the baseband to whatever you want. When they say it doesnt work on LH2 ROMs they are talking about stock.

It's posted on that section but it shouldn't hurt to try it since you aren't flashing or fiddiling with anything for different devices. All you are doing is just setting the permissions for the app APK. You might also have to change the build prop to the nexus or any device that wallet supports, just in case.

Great, ima try the first one since it already has the latest mod for wallet
Edit: tried the latest wallet and just want to make sure if its suppose to say "unsupported device" on top?

Well if you would have clicked "learn more" you would know that it only says that because you have a rooted device. It doesnt affect the usability of the app at all.
So how did it workout?

Well I got it installed. Yet to try it. I tried it with the previous wallet and didn't work, but I think it's cause I left the build prop as galaxy nexus

I was gonna use it today, but now it says "it's unsupported on my carrier/device" and closes.
This woked for me on Frosty JB
I'm on Frosty JB V5.
Initially I tried the below steps.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1769083
I was able to get wallet installed and add cards. And then I started getting the "unfortunately, NFC service has stopped" errors whenever I opened the browser, gmail, play store and some other google apps (not all).
Then I reverted back to my nandroid before wallet and tried the below patch
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1921233
Here are the steps that worked for me:
Change build.prop (I used Galaxy Nexus)
Reboot to recovery
Flash the patch JMJellybeanWalletFix.zip
Flash com.google.android.apps.walletnfcrel.modaco.1.5-r79-v5.zip (from the first link)
Restart. Go to play store, search for google wallet and make sure automatic update is off. Or else it overwrites the app and it doesnt work anymore.
Open wallet, login and add card
restore original build.prop and reboot.
I still havent used it to purchase anything. But atleast I've got the thing up and running.
Thanks I'll check it out and report back
Edit: I'm on codename android and when I change the prop to nexus settings it works, but when I go to back to original it says it's not supported but the carrier/network
any idea why?
