Slow charging motherboard? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

So I bought my s2 from a guy off of craigslist for $275 and the phone was new. You could and can still easily tell. But when I try to charge a battery through the phone it charges really slow. Like maybe 4-5% every hour. Yeah wtf. I have two hyperion batteries and one q-cell 3650 mah extended battery. It took about 50 hours to charge that one to full. I've heard people using a toothbrush to clean the usb port, which I tried but was not sure if it was done correctly. Everything on the phone works perfect except for this charging problem. Any help or ideas greatly appreciated!

If charging is the problem get an external charger and extra battery. I've never had that problem mine charges fully in 2 hrs

Unfortunately that is what I have to do haha. Still worth it though for this amazing phone!

Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Because no one can find the friggin 1650s. Even the post dedicated to them doesn't have more than a dead ebay link for them.
Sent from my rough sketch of a Vibrant on a brick.
why get the 1650 when u can get 2800 on amaZON for under 20.00 us?
Well anything higher than 1600mah will cause the phone to get really fat.
I posted link above.
fat battery
I got one of those fat batteries from amazon and it doesn't seem to last that much longer than a standard battery. It also makes the phone look pregnant.
I am using a 3.7VDC 3500mAh Li-ion Battery for my vibrant and it lasts me for 2 days and a half without charge, Of course the battery is a little bulkier then the normal 1500mAh, & it comes with a back Case, its worth the cost and its for only $16 Bucks on ebay. Its worth the money Sweet

Well actually the battery was working fine when I received it. What you want to do is once you have the battey, deplete it till it fully drains out of power. Then recharge it with the charger they supplied you, don't charge it throu the phone. Once you see its fully charged. Chharge it for at least 1 hour more and u will get the full capacity of the battery. If your vibrant has a good kernel u will be set for 2 days straight. Hope that helps. Am using overstocked kernel

...he said dont charge it through the phone, which is the only way you can use the vibrant charger so that rules that one out, so by process of elimination and a lil bit of thinking the only option left is his came with a charger for the battery, probably a small dock type deal.
Just gotta think a little not too much to ask
i apologize for the late reply, I should of been more specific with the charger i was talking about. It is a USB/AC Wall charger for the Samsung Galaxy S i9000, Sprint Epic 4G, AT&T Captivate i897,T-Mobile Vibrant T959. You can view it on ebay, Amazon etc.

[Q] "Info: Battery Is Not Connected" Error

I was wondering if anyone knows a solution to this? I've been looking all day and it turns out that Samsung devices are programed to detect unofficial batteries and whatnot, which is probably why this appears. My battery (which I bought from a phone store) has been working for months, perfectly, until yesterday when I tried using it on one of my other phones (a kyocera echo that won't charge past 0% ) after trying it on that, it would not charge in my epic 4g, though it transfers files via usb flawlessly. I tried a few wall chargers, two different USBs, of which none charged. I happened to have an external charger which works, though takes almost twice as long as the phone took to charge.
The battery health is labeled as "failure" by numerous batter indicator apps. I tried hard resetting, flashing to stock (currently using an old version of stock). Some people have encountered this with some batteries they bought off of ebay, while other batteries from ebay worked perfectly fine for them.
Anything I missed? Am I doomed, should I take it to phone repair place?
Thanks anyone and everyone who replies! I'll try to post some pics.
Btw this is my first time on this site so I might sound very nooby, srry! ='(

really? thanks!! i'll try some of the 3500 mAh ones
EDIT:
realized my bro has a galaxy s2, and although the batteries are slightly different, I was able to try my battery on his phone and his on mine. The results were a bit saddening.. my battery worked perfectly fine on his phone, it's charging as we speak. His battery, which worked perfectly fine on his phone, when in my phone, would not charge and showed the same "battery is not connected" error. Which means I'm doomed right? ='(

Yes must be the connectors. One of them must be broken or it could be that he battery isn't fully connect to them.

yeah that's probably it. Luckily the 3500 mAh batteries w/ wall charger cost around $15 on ebay. I can still transfer files via usb, and those batteries will last nearly all day (according to people who tried them) and since one of them will always be charged I guess it can't be all that bad
meanwhile i'll be waiting for the release of the galaxy s 3

No... you can't calibrate your battery. You can however condition the battery. This is done by fully charging for 12 hours. Then draining it to 0 and just doing that about 2-3 times and you'll be good to go. Just order it off amazon it will be the same price I have a review and link in the accessories sub forum.

Any experience with qcell batteries?

As the title says: anybody tried qcell batteries before? I found them earlier on Amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/QCell-Univers...id=1342222580&sr=8-2&keywords=Qcell+galaxy+s3
They appear to have good reviews and the price is right. They also have nfc antennas in the batteries, not that I see myself using nfc for anything.
Definitely interested with this too. I ordered these today.

i place my order.....guess it will arrive at my place end of next week. will share more when i get it.
From all the reviews I've read, they're supposed to be same as OEM at half the price.
The reviews from amazon seem a bit fishy, all raving 5 star reviews and all the reviewers are brand new accounts with just one review. I'll have them by tomorrow and will post my results.
Any special app or way I should test them with? Or just a few full charge cycles to see?

I am almost 100% certain that those reviews are fraudulent. Look at their other batteries. The ones with only 5-7 reviews are pretty much the same. 5 stars, only review... it's really not hard to game Amazon like this. Verified purchase doesn't mean much either when you can give money to your friends/family/employees/strangers to buy them and give them 5 stars.
Then the rest are 1 star reviews from people who bought them and realized they are crap.

I ordered two and they work fine. NFC works as well and tested from my phone to my wife's S3. When I ordered they didn't have the two battery and separate charger available so was only able to get the batteries at $8.99 each shipped. Definitely stay away from Anker and Hyperion since it is confirmed they do not support NFC. The 2300mah QCell's are as good if not better than the Samsung original in terms of battery life.
Just received my Qcell batteries and charger a few minutes ago. Have the first battery charging now, will update when I have used them a time or two. It is not hard for me to believe the batteries would have similar characteristics to the OEM, it isn't rocket science... but time will tell.
---------- Post added at 12:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:24 AM ----------
OK, the Qcell battery is charged, I put it in my S3, and it fits like normal, powers up as normal, I can confirm NFC works the same as the OEM battery for me. I will comment on battery life, when I have used it a bit. Is there a good battery diagnostic app that mught be useful?
I have had the qcell batteries and charger for about a week now and I am definitely happy. After charging it fully and completely discharging it three times, I would have to say that it lasts noticiably longer than the standard 2100ml battery. Plus they are dirt cheal

Mine charges to 100% but it takes a loooong time. About 8 hours or so, starting from 15%. It seems to slow down for the last 10% too. This should be better for the battery, than a fast charger. The charger LED is purple while charging, and will turn blue when finished.
Try leaving it on the charger and see what happens. I thought the same as you guys the first day, but finally figured it out after some testing, using a volt meter, and then finally just leaving it on the charger for what felt like forever.
Only had the batteries a few days but battery life seems comparable to OEM.
Be careful with the chargers. I had a similar one with my evo 3d. After about a few months of use the charger contacts shorted and the charger basically fried up. Basically not a good idea to put a battery in it while it's plugged into the wall

5% charge in 30min normal????

Seems like all of a sudden my battery charges abnormally slow. I turned my phone completely off and only increased 5% in 30 minutes. The battery actually drains even when plugged up when I'm using it. This never happened before. Recently, before these charging problems arose, my battery died while talking on the phone. So i switched my battery with a another battery in a verizon galaxy s3 (my mom's). And i put the dead battery in her phone. I was going out and didn't have time to charge my battery. The next day i switched the batteries back. Would this have anything to do with the charging probelms?
I have the exact same problem. Take forever to charge and drain when using it while charging. I order a new oem battery from ebay and will see how it goes.

Tried factory reset...didn't work. Couldn't try battery calibration yet since my battery has to be at 100%. I tried switching the cord, outlet and adapter and now its charging 5% in 10 minutes. Hopefully the problem has to do with one of those!
Yea try changing your cord. That seemed to have fixed my problem!

Using 3rd party charger shouldn't slow down your charge unless it doesn't give 1A

For those that are experiencing slow charging, try this. Download Battery Monitor Widget from the playstore. In the settings go to calibration. There is an option for USB fast charge and it has worked on every rom I have tried.
The cable is usually the culprit, but I thought I would share this info also.
I've heard that fast charging diminishes your batteries life by half though.

Extra battery problem

Bought two extra batteries to have in reserve or if I'm on a long trip being able to switch without charging. However I have been preoccupied with other things so I haven't switched among the batteries for over a month. I have a charge dock with holder for an extra battery and do another battery is always charging in it. I realizedthat I hadn't switched for a while so I took out my battery and inserted one of the others. Unfortunately it seems completely dead, the same goes for the one sitting in the charge dock. Is there anything I can do to revive those batteries? Or do I just have to eat crow? If nothing else, let this be a cautionary tale.

I have it a new try, removed the battery, inserted a depleted and charged it directly in the phone bypassing the dock. First it showed a yellow warning triangle which worried me but I let it stay. Lo and behold the next morning the battery was charged to 100%. Wonder why it works directly but not in the dock? Strange, anyway thank you for your suggestion.

I cannot tell you why exactly it worked out for you but generally phones have more or less sophisticated circuits to charge batteries and avoid overcharge. Maybe the circuits in your dock are not optimal and thus it did not recognize the empty battery. I'm glad you could solve your problem.
