Lock Screen every time I switch apps from notification menu - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I did a quick search but didn't find anything on this. For whatever reason, whenever I switch apps from the drop down notification menu, it forces me to input my lock screen pattern, even when I have the lock screen toggled off. I have my settings set to auto lock after 1 min, but this happens whenever I switch apps, even before a minute has passed.
Is this a known issue? Is this happening to anybody else? Is there a fix?
Thanks.
Edit: I'm still on 4.02. It hasn't updated to .04 yet.

No one?
:T

Has this always been happening or did you install/flash something before it started happening?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA

I just got my GN yesterday, and it updated by itself to 4.02.
It's been happening ever since I turned on the lock screen. It goes away when the lock screen is turned off. But it's bizarre that it would ask for the lock pattern every time I switch apps from the notification drop down. It doesn't ask for the pattern if I were to switch apps with the App Switcher button.
Really perplexing...

Hate to keep bumping this, but this is just incredibly bizarre.
Can someone test on their GN if the same happens? Turn on a lock screen input, anyone will do. I happen to have the pattern lock. And try to switch between apps or alerts from the pull down notification menu (you can send yourself an email or something, or turn on the music player) and see if you are forced to put in your pattern/passcode/etc before you can switch over.
I have to put in my pattern to unlock the phone every single time I switch apps ONLY from the pull down menu. It's bizarre. If I switch apps from the App Menu, it doesn't do this.
I don't know what's going on. Is this a "feature" of ICS? Seems a bit overkill on security. Or do I actually have a faulty phone (but it seems software related?).
Any help would be great. If need be, I'll make a video to demonstrate what I'm talking about.

I had this problem on CyanogenMod. Change the lock screen to what you want, and then reboot. It should be fixed. If you don't do a reboot for some reason it gets confused.

Yes happens to me sometimes too on both 4.02 and 4.04 stock. I don't use a pattern lock but it just fades out and when I turn screen back on it's lockscreen.

Never had this problem. That is weird. I suggest flashing a stock image and see if it still happens. Make a nandroid first of course but throw it away and make a new nandroid if problem goes away.
bow chicka wow wow.

Yes, this solved it. Thank you! Oh, Ice Cream Sandwich.

I spoke too soon. It's back. I noticed when I toggle the lock screen off, the problem exists. But if I toggle the lock screen on, the problem goes away.
So it may be an issue with the widget itself. I'm using "No Lock" (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.jraf.android.nolock&hl=en)
I'm gonna test other toggle widgets to see if it's app related.

So.. it's a third party app you're using and not the stock ics lockscreen..
It would've been wise if you told us that on the first post

Yes that would have been good info to have, but I am not running anything custom on my lock screen (though I am on CM) and had this same problem.
I had to reboot the phone after every time I changed the lock screen from anything to anything or I'd run into problems. When changing from no lock screen to a lock screen, I would lose notifications when waking the screen up if the notification was for the last app open.
For example, I was in the Messaging app and locked the screen, without going to the home screen first (so if I were to unlock the app would be right there). Then I received a text and notification worked. I pressed the button to wake the phone and the lock screen showed up (pattern unlock) and the notification for my new text message in the notification bar disappeared. But I hadn't even unlocked so I could get to the app yet...

Delayed screen lock

Hey,
Does anyone else have problems with the delayed lock screen feature?
Settings -> Security -> Automatically Lock
(You need to have a pattern or pin unlock for the option to show up)
In there are delay settings, so the lock only activates after a set period of time. No matter what delay I pick, the screen lock activates instantly as soon as the screen turns off.
I was wondering if this happened for anyone else, before I post an issue with Google.
The weird thing is I'm sure it worked at one point, but I've tried a factory reset and it still doesn't work with a fresh handset.
Cheers
Do you use a (corporate) exchange account on your phone? I think I read somewhere that Exchange security settings can override the delay and force the phone to lock instantaneous.

I do yeah, but I tried with a clean factory reset and it still happens
I don't know exactly how Exchange accounts work - If my device ID was registered with the Exchange server, would it still enforce the security settings even though the email account is not on the phone any more? (i.e. a factory reset).

I have set a 5 minute delay on the lock and it has been working perfectly.
I cannot think of a reason why you are not able to apart from your Exchange set up.
I don't use Exchange and also have this issue... no matter what I set the delay at, it always locks.
I removed the Exchange account from my phone, and got the server admin to delete my device ID from the system - but it still locks instantly when the screen goes off, so it doesn't look like that's the problem.
How odd...
Anyone have any more info on this? It's pretty irritating and don't want to do a factory rest if I can avoid it!

Did you remove the device administrator you create (at least in 2.x) when you accept the Exchange security policies? Might still be there I guess.
I think the timer only kicks in when the screen turns off by itself not when you hit the lock button. Try letting the screen goto sleep and see if the delay works.

Oh yeah
Seems slightly odd behaviour - I'm used to the CM7 way where it would delay the lock whether you turned the screen off manually or not.
Cheers

Oh... yeah, that worked! As Shodney said, seems strange as I come from a ROM (Android Revolution HD) that doesn't care if the screen times out or if you press power - it starts the timer from then.
To be honest I prefer the "old" behaviour - I like having a long "awake" time on my screen so it doesn't go off while I'm reading a web page or whatever and to turn it off manually to save battery. But I don't like it locking straight away! Guess I just have to live with it for now. Thanks for the answer anyway.
I find it weird too. The sgs2 was the same way. There is a great app called delaylock (https://market.android.com/details?id=de.j4velin.delayedlock2&hl=en) on the market that will make the lock work the as cm7 not sure it works on ics yet, I plan on trying it when my phone gets here Friday.
Glad I could clear all the confusion on this setting.

[Q] How to disable the TW Lockscreen

Is there a way to remove the stock lockscreen?
Here is what I have currently:
Rooted with UnNamed Rom, using No Lock app. I also have WidgetLock just in case.
What happens:
Phone will randomly go to the Stock Touch Wiz Lockscreen during any application (NetFlix, Pandora, texting). It is pretty annoying, and sometimes the phone will pull up the dialer when I didn't even press anything.
I thought I could simply remove it on Titanium Backup but I cannot find what the actual name of the TW lockscreen is named.
Any suggestions?

Well the thing is tho, I'm pretty sure if you disable the lock screen you keep your phone from sleeping. That's actually an option you can choose from inside widget locker, its called wake lock. But if your phone isn't gonna sleep, the battery will drain continuously. Plus, any button will turn the screen on. But then again, im not 100% sure.... just mostly sure

Does anyone else have some knowledge on this?
If what hijewpositive says is true, that really stinks to have such a big design flaw on this phone like that.
If you go to your keypad and put in *#7594# Check box to enable and press home button. It will disable the lock screen. If you want to use the lock screen again repeat and uncheck box. Hope this is what you are looking for.

Will this cause the phone not to sleep?
It will still go to sleep. I have been using that way and never had a problem
with it going to sleep.

That worked for me, kinda:
It brought up a box that said "Enable to shut down app on long press".
Is that it?

Hmm, I've been getting the phone dialer pop up on UnNamed ROM also but only when I unlock the screen. Always thought I might of hit the phone dialer by accident, but this has occurred multiple times on UnNamed, but absolutely zero times before. Wonder if there's a bug?
Also, I use Go SMS which has a pop-up feature which prevents the lockscreen when an SMS comes through; phone still goes to sleep and no battery drain (tested it by leaving the popup on for half a day and using betterbatterystats, battery monitor, and cpu spy)
I use 'no lock' app. Never had a problem with it.

[Q] Screen black after screen unlock

I've noticed that sometimes when I unlock my device I have a black screen with only the "multi-task" button and the status bar visible. It will stay like this until I "lock" the phone and unlock it again. Touching the "multi-task" button makes the rest of the buttons appear but touching them still doesn't make the screen respond. I have noticed this on both stock and custom rom. Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas on a fix or cause?
I am using the Virgin/Bell Canada GSM version.
Thanks
ps. I've posted a pic to give people an idea of what I'm getting....as it may seem unclear in my explanation.
At first this sounded similar to a problem I had.. I installed Wave Launcher, which for some reason did not play well with my phone. I would unlock the screen and the screen would immediately go black as if it had shut off, but I could still push buttons and receive haptic feedback. I had to have someone call me and delete the app while I was in the call.. it sounds kind of similar but not really.. my first guess would be some sort of problem with an app being incompatible.

I wanted to pass this on...I was reading in the Team Kang rom that there is a "bugfix version: app navigation menu icons no longer disappear after unlocking phone". So I hope this is what relates to my problem and has been "fixed"!

[Q] New screen lock appearing, can't get rid of it

I have been using the face unlock screen lock since December and haven't changed any settings in Security since then. Last night, this screen showed up as my screen lock. I can't get rid of it, I've switched to different screen locks and rebooted. It sometimes shows up after I unlock a screen lock and other times is the only screen lock that shows up.
Is this happening to anyone else? Any ideas how to fix it?
I'm running stock, 4.0.2, and GO Launcher EX.
Looks like the MIUI lockscreen. Are you sure you didn't download a lockscreen replacement app or an app that has this feature?
I definitely didn't download any lockscreen replacement.
Ahhh, found it. GO Locker was enabled with a default lockscreen. Not sure why, I have never used the app before. Possibly an update enabled it?
In any case, it's fixed. Thanks!

[Q] Note 2 Automatically bypass lock screen

Hey guys, recently (today 1/28) i noticed my galaxy note 2 automatically bypasses the lock screen whenever the screen wakes up (so no ripple effects, and i have no lock or pin or pattern set, so just a swipe would work). So I tried setting up a pattern lock, and similar thing happens. The phone would wake up, go to home screen for a split second, then returns back to the lock screen with the pattern lock.
I was wondering, does anyone know whats wrong with this?
Extra information: I used to have GO launcher on it with their custom lock screen. However, I uninstalled everything already, so that shouldn't be a problem.

it's Go Locker... it's not the best lock screen replacement... you should turn off the go locker lock screen and turn on the stock one. Clear defaults on Go Locker and set it to just Go Launcher and enable the original lockscreen after disabling Go Locker

but I have already cleared w/e data that Go Locker has and then uninstalled it. So i doubt that Go locker is causing my lock screen bypassing problem, unless it was some sort of glitch from when i had it (i used it for 2 days)

Problem is completely solved now. Apparently, it is the result of a bug/glitch in a chinese music streaming app that I got from Google play. Also, thanks to everyone that replied to this.

I had the same problem, I had the "Lock instantly with power key" unchecked, however the phone still locks it right after I push the power key no matter how long I set the lock time. Then I found out that whenever I have the Kugou Music running, it does that. So as long as you quit the program when not listening music, you are fine.
And there's actually one setting on Kugou Music that override the lock screen.
