Hey guys, I recently came up with an idea for a new app I will call "Socialize" and I wanted some feedback on it. I am currently working on it and will have a preview of my progress up within a few weeks. It won't have that many features, as my first priority is Twitter support, and the first preview will probably only have the ability to login and post a tweet.
What is Socialize?
Socialize is a new way to manage all your social 'stuff' from one place. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Google+ will be the first supported networks. Chat support will probably be added in later.
Isn't there already and app that does the same thing/has the same name?
No. I spent about an hour a week ago searching for such an app and didn't find one. There is also no app with the name "Socialize."
So yeah guys, leave your thoughts below, if you have any recommendations, leave a reply! No stealing my idea either.
I really like the title. Doesn't Seesmic do this though?

Seesmic only supports Facebook and Twitter. I plan on supporting all the social networks that have an available API. And thanks, took me hours to think of such a simple name
Cool idea. It would be nice to have an all in one app for that. I hope you plan to support Google+?

What was that one that Ryan from dunder mifflin paper made? But yea your going to have an issue with permissions unless you have a very big budget.
take it from me. I own an LLC and are creating a cross platform music centric (but dont think were just a music player) app.
My costs are withing the 500 to 700 thousand dollar ballpark. I would estimate around 1/4th of what im paying unless you plan to develop market anf publish yourself.

Think that's an understatement... Taking 3 seconds just for the "Loading Forum" label to appear after I click the forum is ridiculous... With that being said, it's made a lot of improvements lately, and I've become a fan of it after despising it... I only see it getting better too, the developers seem very dedicated to a quality product.

That's true, but it's too limited. If the free version allowed you to use all features with ONE forum, that would make sense, but I guess that would cut into their $999 fees for customization, right? I think that fee is a bit excessive considering TapaTalk is letting them use their forum plug-in to get the app to work (then again, maybe they're paying TapaTalk?).
The XDA App for Android is full featured, just limited to XDA-Developers' forum.

Microsoft's servers are handling Notifications from everywhere else, so I don't see how that would be an issue. I think just the Messenger by Miyowa probably puts more hurt to their servers than this app would due to how many notifications every user gets.
If they need better servers for notifications, buy it with the cash you make from the app.
And hire a dev to fix these performance issues...

meanwhile, trolls aside, I really don't understand how Apple won the injunction with the overwhelming prior art of Google Desktop Search [released Oct 2004] and (I really dislike using this as an example of anything, but it applies) BonziBUDDY [released 1999].
to lesser extents, we have:
ISYS
- prototyped as "Homer" in 1987
- released in 1988
---- was actually a tool to search documents and databases on a private network, searched locally as well
Copernic Search
- released in 1996
---- web multi-search tool, local search functions added well before iPhone (I don't remember when though)
Microsoft Actors/Agents
- released originally as MS Bob in Mar 1995
Windows Desktop Search
- as of v4, included with WinVista, RTM Nov, 2006

Sorry for the shameless self promotion. But my Security app Root Defense was developed on the Epic 4G touch and unlike any other security app out there, it will allow you to continue to track your phone even if it gets wiped or a hard-reset by a thief.
It's almost impossible to lose your phone and it's completely free. You can subscribe if wanted for additional logging goodies.
It requires that you have a rooted phone (as most people have on XDA)
Please try it out and rate and comment on Google Play if you like it.

Yeah, Cerberus was a program created after ours that has many of the same features. Even including the 5 licenses for the price of one.
Root Defense comes with many many more features though and no user interface on the phone.
Basically its still free but with more features and a stealthier install.
Also ours shows the existing data of logs and location from before a phone went missing so you aren't in the dark when your device is off

Root defense also is free and survives wipes and all the features the $4 a month is only if you wish to keep the logging features. All actually security features are free and always will be.
One of the major differences if the our free edition vs Cerberus is that our free version also keeps track of the last known coordinates.
What this means is that if your phone was stolen or lost and was either turned off or ran out of battery. Our product would show you where it last was and when it was there. Cerberus won't be able to show you anything as it needs to connect to the device each time to read data.
This is true of most fee or one-time fee programs because that's how they can afford it. In order to be helpful to people off-line, you need to store the data in a database which will quickly incur cost to developers (especially storing MMS messages.)
Anyway, different stroke for different folks. But keep in mind that after the trial ends, you still have (any always will have) all the free version features.
New version just released, check our main thread for details.

I can't believe Google has evolved so much in a relatively short time and taken up such a huge portion of my life! They have always been one of my favorite companies, and now they may be at the top. I've used their search engine as long as I can remember, of course it's my fave. They give me a free minimalist browser that even my ****ty old HP laptop can run. I bought a Google phone and fell in love with Google's mobile OS, that's free too. Then Google thinks, hey, lets automate search.. And they give me Google Now! Baked in is the best damn mobile voice recognition system I've ever used. I cant believe Google was able to pretty much master the art of talking to a phone, I seriously ask my phone several questions a day, and do it around people with confidence that my phone will understand me and speak back relevant information. It does. Throw in all the different "cloud" storage options they have for free: gmail, contacts, voice, g+ instant upload, drive, etc.. I love Google. I'll never have to enter my contact numbers in a phone again. I have to pause, smile and reflect on that for a second. Or how about freaking satellite pictures of the earth wherever you want, or 360 views from the street. All free again.
Google isn't perfect, sometimes they make me throw my hands up wondering wtf they are thinking, he'll sometimes I complain about it to other XDA members thinking the same things. I know Google makes good money off us (and businesses) through its services.. But from the consumers standpoint, Google offers an almost infinite plethora of options for FREE DOLLARS. And since Google is moving towards all those services being much more tightly integrated, I can't wait to see what they have in store for the future!

Yep, I'm sure I could find some of these apps to pirate, but they are more than reasonably priced, and I am very hopeful that money truly does go where it belongs (to the bright minds that make them). Especially after taking an intro college course to programming and finding out that I have no idea how complex these programs really get. The best backup app is less than $10, certainly don't get that on windows.

I call bullsh*t. Piracy is one of the biggest crimes in the world and EVERYONE has done it at some point or another. Whether it be an app, a movie, music album or game. Not condoning it, just being real. Don't kid yourself.

There is a difference between silently downloading a paid app for free and bragging about it to the world like you are some badass that knows how to use Google or torrents or whatever.
For the record, I have downloaded pirated apps but have replaced all of them with the paid parts from the store.
I usually only download a pirated app to try it out if there is no free version. But sometimes I can't find the latest version and give up. If the apps worth the money/ I wanna support the dev I have no problem paying.
I do enjoy my hassle free updates that's for sure

Whoa. No one said I was bragging about that lol. I was simply stating that a large percentage of people have taken part in it and I find it hard to believe when someone says that they have NEVER done so. Taking people's hard work and not paying a dime for it is a shame and if I was a developer I'd be very angered with piracy. Look at the Dead Trigger devs. Those guys are pissed beyond belief and I don't blame them. I pay for my apps now, but back when I was naive and ignorant I took my part in piracy too. Don't twist my words around dude lol I do not condone piracy especially since apps are dirt cheap.
Except that launcher that cost about $20. That's just insane lol

I agree with you that is wrong but because everyone does it doesn't mean u can say everyone else does it to. I been paying for apps since 2010 and I never really felt to pirate anything Like that before because I have the money to pay for it. And plus I was one of those guys that payed for dead trigger and it ended up being free and I was pissed.
