HTC Desire gingerbread OTA rolling out end July MAYBE!!!

Hi all,
the 2.3 gingerbread update is rolling out now! with sense 2.1!
NOTE: 2.3 IS ROLLING OUT VIA IMEI, SO IF YOU HAVE A BRANDED PHONE, BUT YOU UNBRANDED IT, YOU WONT GET THE UPDATE!!

Dries: It has recently begun rolling out but that happens, however, using the IMEI number. It is not known exactly when your device's turn but when it does, you will automatically offer the update OTA.

Dries: The Facebook page has yet to be updated.
Nick : Ah okay, but I'm talking about the old desire, not the desire Z
Dries: Yes, Desire of the wounded.

Nick : Haha okay, and do you know which version of Sense's on?

if you have a branded phone, but unbranded it, the update wont work cause its rolling out via IMEI!!

it was always going to be included but a cut down version

Might be true, although I wouldnt be too hasty with putting a confirmed stamp onto it. Especially if this information comes from customer support...

Cant anyone check the servers so we can get the RUU update?

My Desire was bought off the shelf, so is unbranded, however it IS rooted (although I haven't done anything with the root access)
Does this mean I'll still get the update?
Will this affect memory available?

Anybody has the update to tell us the + or - ?
I keep on checking for updates refreshing every hour my device.
The first lucky guy let's informe all the others.

they said they will be pushed to phones by IMEI, so it will take time to get yours..

Might have to dust off my Desire this evening and see what's going on

We will wait for.our turn.
But till then we need a first look and some answers from someone that already has the update.
For example which version of sense is delivered and with / without cut applications.

When HTC put message on FB that GB is officialy out then he is out, otherwise this is just another troll thread.

the guy from support said, the FB page needs to be updated.. but the desire Z 2.3 was rolled out 4 days earlier in holland then eveery other country,. so

Its not exactly a troll thread but yeah we must stop believing the Customer Support one day...
On a side note, didnt we use to have a direct link to the RUU's on the official HTC website? I guess thats the only way to find out if we can grab the update without waiting for the whole rollout process to unfold...

It's the volume bug update and should be ~1mb.
Why not update? It's nothing to be worried about...

I'm curious as to what happened to E...

I've finally gotten it.
And here's the reason why it trickles/trickled, from a Google guy on the Android team:
OTAs *always* roll out to a small group (canary), then increasingly larger groups. Because sometimes there are bugs that don't get caught that come with new changes or a process issue turns up with OTAs. It's far better to catch these when a small number of devices get the update and never come back online than slam an update out to an entire population and only then discover that there was an issue.

Well... at least I would assume so because I am in Canada and ordered a UK GNexus (Handtec). It was dropped off today and about an hour after I started using it I checked for updates and it popped up.

Mine arrived thismorning (O2 sim only phone purchased on Friday 18th), haven't yet installed due to being on a custom rom.

No update for me yet - Handtec +Vodafone UK.

I've received mine, vodafone uk, but does anyone know if it's ok to apply to a rooted handset?

If someone has the OTA file then upload it for those who haven't got it yet

Branded 3 UK update available

Couldn't see another post - sorry if there is another regarding this, but just updated on branded 3 UK phone to 1.28.771.9

I got it through yesterday, signal seems to be the only improvement and now my data connection remains active rather than constantly resetting.

I'm behind then lol
My signal seems a bit better too, haven't noticed much on the data front, as I'm mostly on my wi-fi, it seemed ok before though!

Update to 4.04 in UK - have I missed something

Hi,
I have looked through threads but if I missed this then I am sorry !
I have an unlocked One X, on Vodafone in the UK.
I have been away on holiday for most of August and got back to see the news of the 4.04 update. I saw it on the HTC website and an article on Andoid Central.
I have been checking daily and my phone consistently says there is no update.
Two questions;
1) As far as I know I have the international unlocked version, is there a way to check this ?
2) Am I missing something about the update, i.e. have I got confused and it simply isn't out yet for my phone ?

its not been pushed yet
1) just goto setting --> about phone - > Software Updates
2) its not out in UK and many Asian Countiries, has been out in few countries only

The thread with 4.0.4 in the title has hardly left the first page for over a month now.
If you're unlocked, you can flash any ROM based on 2.17... What you waiting for?

It's being released now in the UK according to the 4.0.4 thread

Smoother home screens
Smoother recent apps transition
Menu bar fix
Change in layout of browser
Better signal
Camera improvement - haven't noticed yet
Multitasking improvement - haven't noticed yet
Battery improvement - haven't noticed yet

I checked the day after and there it was waiting.
I was just confused by the country thing, as I thought all international versions got it at the same time.
All installed now and working well.
Just need to send mine back to get rid of the yellow spot on the screen and then I'm al sorted ...

[Q] hTC One X didn`t get the 4.2.2 OTA update.

Hi guys,
Didn`t see this topic being discussed, so I hope I`m not being redundant.
I`ve got a colleague(a chick, extreeeeeemly hot! ) who has a One X(I have one as well, bought them at pretty much the same time, different stores), and she still didn`t get the official 4.2.2 OTA update. I got the update on my One X on August 19th 2013. Both phones are on the same carrier(Orange), bought from the same country(Romania). Her phone is not rooted, nor has it ever been.
Any ideas why she doesn`t get the update?
Would really appreciate your help, and/or pointers!

Well they most likely have different CID-s and therefore they get the update at different times...
Your CID is a WWE one since only WWE CIDs and SOME carrier CIDs got the update.
Other CIDs will soon follow, so just be patient.
You will get it.
