Hi, after i thought i had bricked my new defy while trying to do some stuff with Root Explorer, i realised that we could retain the downloaded stuff in the phone even after a hard reset. here is how to do it:
We will need the following:
1. Z4Root
2. Root Explorer
3. Apks (applications) you want to retain
steps:
1. root your defy with Z4root. There are other methods available too but i used the z4root (permanent root)
2. install root explorer.
3. install your apks (or if they are already installed then skip this step)
4. open Root explorer after rooting your defy
5. it will state that Root explorer is requesting for superuser access
6. accept superuser access
7. go to /data/app and locate the apks. click on Mount R/W. Use multi selet if multiple apps need to be removed.
8. go to /system/app and mount r/w. Paste the apks there.
9. IMP: Do not rename the installed app names.
10. You can copy (not move) root explorer to /system/app for the same purpose. Uninstall the Root explorer from Application settings once done -> this will remove root explorer copy from the /data/app and when you reboot your phone the copy in the /system/app should be loaded (at least that is how i did)
Let me know in case you are unsuccessful.
Root Your htc G1 dream by a single click with Androot:
download Androot.apk, save it to ur sd card, go to market & download linda file manager or any file manager,
open ur file manager and look for Androot.apk on the sd card, select it. Follow the prompts to install it. Open Androot and click Root. Wait for it to finish.
now you have root access!
wow, impressive, a 2 yr old phone that can use basically any exploit out there, i like the link /troll
Hi,
The CrystalView Epad touch is (apparently) not certified to work with the Android Market. Instead the third party Appslib market is provided on the device. Unfortunately it does not work out the box. In practice people have found that it will list the apps but when you hit download it crashes.
For anyone having difficulties downloading apps to the Crystalview Epad Touch,
Here are some tips below that may work and some workarounds.
1) Update to the latest Appslib (just Google Appslib download), this will solve the majority of problems
Unfortunately Appslib does not have as many free apps as on the Android Market.
2) WorkArounds:
a) Sideload Apps: Here are the instructions for sideloading apps to your tablet (applies to any phone/tablet):
1) Download Astro file manager to your pc, and copy the .apk to your tablet's sd card with a card reader.
2) Install the astro file manager
3) Open Astro File Manager and then Slide the top menu bar of astro until you see preferences.
4) Click on Preferences
5) Check Enable Browser Download which allows download of any file type incl .apk files.
6) Connect to a wireless Internet and then download your apps.
b) If you have an android phone then download the apps with market to your phone and use a utility(many available from market) to extract the apk files from /data/apps on your phone to your sd card. Then either transfer the sd card to your tablet or download the apps via FTP (client/server) available from market.

I've already done this with many apps and tested a few (Netflix[buggy], CrunchyRoll, XBMC, MxPlayer[kinda buggy], Root Explorer, SNES9xEX). Some games won't work because they crash on start or some time during gameplay.
Requires downloading APK's from somewhere online or having another device that has access to the store. You can either get an app like APK Extract or if you are rooted, you can use an File Managing app to browse to the /Data/App folder and directly copy the apk to Sdcard then put onto USB Stick or use Adb Install from the location.
You have two options for installing Play Store apps:
A) First Method
Use ADB to install the apps for you (requires having android sdk, correct drivers and usb debugging enabled to connect)
Adb Devices (to check your device is found, I suggest following this setup for getting adb to find device, very important https://devs.ouya.tv/developers/docs/setup)
It should show up with an list of numbers showing like
List of devices attached
015d46d973142207 device
Adb Install <path of apk>
Example: Adb install C:\AndroidAPK\Netflix.apk
A) Second Method (Only use if you already have installed an File Managing app, otherwise you'll have no way to access the files on your sdcard)
Adb Push <path of APK on your system> <Path where you want APK to go>
Example: Adb push C:\AndroidAPK\Netflix.apk /sdcard/
I suggest having folders/files with no spaces and renaming the apks to easier names.
B Method Requires File Managing app to be installed prior, highly suggest getting some file managing app.
B) If you've already gathered all the apks you want to try, load them up onto an USB stick or storage device(my external 1TB WD HDD works perfectly fine, usb powered not a/c)
Navigate to your sdcard via File Managing app and just click to install each APK, this is easier if you don't want to connect Ouya to an computer each time you want to load an play store app.
3rd Method - Requires rooted phone
Step 1 - Install a file browser on your Ouya (you can use the browser to go here: http://www.estrongs.com/en/download.html and download one for free. Install from settings -> storage -> downloads)
Step 2 - Buy\Install Titanium Backup
Step 3 - In options of TB, change compression to none
Step 4 - Backup whatever app
Step 5 - Copy the apk from your phone to a USB stick (requires a pc if phone doesn't support a usb stick)
Step 6 - Install apk off of the usb stick in the Ouya using the previously installed file browser
4th method: no root required anywhere, no PC either
Use ES file explorer to create app backups on your device, use it to upload the APKs to cloud storage(i use Box), then use ES file explorer on your OUYA to either install the backups straight from the cloud individually or batch copy and then install them.
This method is slow compared to using a USB stick, but my new ones are to thick to fit next to the hdmi plug, and my old one has that stupid U3 thing that seems to keep the OUYA from seeing it even though my Samsung devices see it.

Here I will tell you how to get all or most of the apps from google play and I will also tell you how to swap your internal and external memory.
I am not responsible if anything unwanted is to happen to your device.
It is not needed but as a precaution make a backup.
How to get all apps
Before you start:
Must be rooted
Have a file explorer with root privileges (I recommend root explorer)
1. Download the edited build.prop (link provided below)
2. Open your file explorer and navigate to /system
3. Rename the build.prop already located there, to build.prop.bak
4. Paste the build.prop you downloaded
5. Change its permissions to rw-r--r--
6. Reboot and enjoy
If you want to put your device back to its original settings delete build.prop and rename build.prop.bak to build.prop and reboot
How to swap internal and external storage
Before you start:
Must be rooted
Have a file explorer with root privileges (I recommend root explorer)
Have Script Manager installed (link here)
1. Download the edited swap.sh and restore.sh (links provided below)
2. Open your file explorer and navigate to /data
3. Paste swap.sh and restore.sh here
4. Change their permissions to rwxrwxrwx
5. Open Script Manager
6. Navigate to /data
7. Click on swap.sh and tick su, boot and is executable. Do the same for restore.sh
8. Run swap.sh wait a 10 seconds then kill it
9. Your storage should have now been swapped, go to settings > storage to check
This will only last until you next reboot. If you want to swap them back but do not want to reboot, repeat steps 8 and 9 but with restore.sh
If you would like to use my edited build.prop you are welcome to. I cannot remember where i got the swap.sh but credit goes to them.
Hello, Can You please specify weather this method works for Xperia M C1904/1905, OR Xperia M Dual C2004/2005?
And Everyone on this forums an Important Request Please Mention specifically Which Device you are Posting anything for....
If we changed the stock build.prop with this, the model of the phone will be changed from Xperia M to XperiaZ1
This will work for C1905, but I do not know if it will work on any others, and the build.prop will make your phone think it is a Z1
Quick question. Why do we need to do this? In your post you mention,
Here I will tell you how to get all or most of the apps from google play
Click to collapse
Is there something we can do to the Xperia M that can cause it to not be able to download apps from Google Play?
What do you mean by cause it not to be able to download apps?
Sent from my C1905 Xperia M
I recently bought a Xperia M SS. And I am reading through the forums to understand what all is available for this device. Your post provides instructions on "how to get all or most of the apps from google play".
That line gives me the impression that without following the instructions you have given, I will be unable to "get all or most apps from google play".
So I ask, what do you mean by that statement. I have only rooted (full root) my phone. I am currently able to download and use all apps that I need. I need to know whether or not I need to follow your instructions. Who are these instructions aimed at? Is there a subset of people who are unable to "get all or most apps from google play"?
What I mean by this is that it will allow you to get incompatible apps, such as asphalt 8 which is actually fully compatible.

The build.prop will not work on firmware version 15.1.C.2.8
Is this work on cm12.1?
