I also have a droid 2 global for verizon, and has a verizon sim card. If I put it in an R800i would it work? I don't have an R800i so I cant test this. Just a random thought, idk if this was asked before.

That's how I use mine. Works great other than you won't be able to go to the PlayStation pocket store without a sim card.

What do you mean a free sim? One with no service tied to it? Does that work?

Can I use the ATT Ion flashed with international firmware on another network? Either t-mobile or simple mobile?
No because the at&t ion is still sim locked.

Yes, if you can find a unlocked Galaxy S3 and if you can cut your SIM to the right dimensions.

I can unlock mine, I need to know if anyone knows if the procedure online is safe enough that people have already done it.

You can unlock it and use.att sim. Get a micro sim.cutter.

if you bought it outright, call tmobile and they will send you the unlock instructions. no questions asked. done. then you will have to get a microsim cutter and you're golden.
What can I do with my unlocked phone? If I put a second sim card in my phone could I use it on my phone without paying for use of it? Could he get free 4g from T-Mobile? What could I do?

Can I put another T-Mobile sim card and use it without paying?

No, unlocking just allows you to use your phone with any GSM phone company... you still have to pay that company for service.
For example, it allows you to use this T-Mobile phone on AT&T... but you still have to pay AT&T for service.
My parents are going to England. We live in the US. I used the cyanogen/xda method to root.
Is it already carrier unlocked? I only have Tmobile sim cards, unfortunately, the new sim will come from England. So I'd like some verification that it's unlocked before they take it on a trip.
How would I unlock it if it's not? I'm running a recent andromadus rom

I think I used gfree, which seems to unlock it, I'm going to try to get a sim from something non-Tmobile.
Open to suggestions about how to test unlock
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app
To check if your phone is sim unlocked you can run the gfree check through adb, or you could borrow a friends sim card from another carrier.
