Okay I want to make the status bar transparent and the pull down tray as well.
I want something like the transparency the top bar in OSX 10.6. I hate hiding my background and since I'm going for a minimal look, it's awfully distracting.
I tried to make the edits myself in photoshop and went ahead and resigned the .9.png files too. But when I pushed the framework-res.apk file back...only the notification bar had changed. and the pull down bar stayed solid.
Can anyone list for me which files specifically I need to change so I can make the notification bar and pull down tray transparent?
I would go ahead and make the changes myself.
I'm currently on FreshEvo, anyone think it would look better on cm6? or easier?
I found that 85% opacity seemed to work well enough but the black bar on sense was less than ideal, but acceptable. There was a problem with that too, the icons for mail notifications, cell signal, etc had their own black background that showed like black squares, I'd need to know which files to edit for that too.
I'm thinking that the aosp top bar, or if anyone knows of a white/aosp theme for senseroms, would work better.
P.S. The first time I edited my framework-res, I had to re-add all my accounts on the phone? what happened?? lol
All help appreciated

in launcher pro, making the status bar transparent wont matter becuase there needs to be a wallpaper hack i believe, unless you use a live wallpaper, the transparency will show. All the files are in the framework-res.apk that you need to change i believe, aside from the pulldown tray, that is the services.jar. i could post my theme for ya, but it changes everything.
What is your theme? Maybe there's a framework-res in it I could take a peek at to compare your edits.

What do you edit in services.jar? I cant find the reference to it... the pulldown tray, that is, making it transparent.
The bars in your bottom picture are in framework-res/drawable-hdpi/
-status_bar_background.png
-status_bar_header_background.9.png
-statusbar_background.png
-status_bar_close_on.9.png
In that order
You need to edit all of the status bar icons also they have black blocks behind all of them. Like stat_notify_disk_full.png there are some in framework-res and some in com.htc.resources
The white part can only be made transparent with services.jar. I know there are downloads of it on here just do a search for services.jar.
Manup has a bunch for download that make it transparent and remove the clock and stuff.
Here is a guide on how to make your own

Thank you, answered my question fully.
Would I be correct to assume that in cm6, all the status bar icons have white blocks begins them?

Im using RemPuzzle.. It is sense 1.0. Is there any way to centre the clock in status bar?
I was successful in centering the clock on cm7.
P.S. There is no SystemUI.apk in /system
So I assume there is some other .apk which does the work of SystemUI.apk
Any idea which one?
As far as I know its in framework-res.apk but I read somewhere that the clocks code is lumped together with the icons, I haven't tried moving it as I presume it would move the icons too.
I would like to ask on how to change the status bar from Gingerbread to Froyo theme? Is this possible on a Stock S5360 Rom?
I've been searching for a mod through google and I can't find any.
What I want to do is to make a white statusbar with black text and icons. I used UOT Kitchen and flashed the zip. What happened was the notification area changed but the status bar remained the same. So I opened the framework-res.apk and edited the .png files.
My dilemma is I can't read some of the icons since they are still white in color. Then I found the Froyo statusbar which is an easier alternative for my project.
Thanks
You can do that with UOT Kitchen, just set the status bar background colour to #FFFFFF and the text #000000. Use the previews!
Hello Folks,
I am working on a i9100, OS 4.1.2, build: JZ054K.I9100VJMS4.
I have red almost ALL around, about how to make status bar disappearing and how to make it transparent.
Now, to make it disappearing I have worked on the file "framework-res.apk" modifying the res/values/dimens.xml which makes sense. And it works (!) since one can set the dimension of status bar to 0.0dip SO it disappears.
On the other hand, for the transparency issue, NO ONE explains why the files of SystemUI.apk have to be modified, a lot of different recipes are proposed and not all seem to work.
So here comes a question:
how come that the parameters of the background of a simply superimposed-status-bar cannot just be located and easily changed ?
Besides, I did a test: I tried to decompile and rebuild the SystemUI.apk WITHOUT modifying it, But when i push the new file into the system the whole screen background becomes black and the status bar disappears.
I used apktool (as I suppose everybody else).
Anyone can REALLY help/explain ?
Thanks a lot in advance.

I'm trying to figure out how to fix my keypad lockscreen so that the status bar uses the lockscreen wallpaper. T989 running Lightspeed (4.1.2)
The keypad lockscreen status bar shows the main wallpaper, not the lockscreen wallpaper (see first attached image, original). Does anyone know how to force the keypad lockscreen to show the lockscreen wallpaper (or at the very least be black)?
I tried xperiacle's How-To (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2384892), which used the correct status bar wallpaper, but the status bar chops off the top of the clock (see second image, 0900). It looks like the space between the keypad and where the numbers are entered is increased by the same height that is being chopped off of the clock (compare to first image).
First question - is it possible to edit the layout of the keypad lockscreen? If so, where can I find that file? I would like to be able to adjust the height between the keypad and the number entry line.
Second question - when I first power up my phone, the lockscreen status bar is black. But once I unlock and do anything on the phone, the black status bar on the lock screen goes away and I'm left with the invisible status bar showing the main wallpaper. What activity is starting that changes the lockscreen status bar? Any ideas on how to logcat this?
Any help is greatly appreciated, let me know if I can provide an ymore info.
Fixed! not like a pet.
I found my answer to the first question!
I found the way to add a margin above the clock after some detailed apk investigating.
Below is a rough outline of the steps...
Pull and decompile System/framework/Framework-res.apk
Find the file Keyguard_screen_password_portrait.xml in res/layout
Add:
android:layout_margintop="20.0dip"
to the end of the line that starts with <com.android.internal.widget.DigitalClock (line 4 for me).
Recompile, push to phone.
Success!
