Downloaded apps file?? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Can't find downloaded apps file in astro. I've read that they should be in /data but nothing in there. I also tried searching in astro and nothing comes up. I am looking to change exdialer icon to stock.

Yes, they are located in /data/media or just /sdcard. Look at this thread and read through the posts to see if this is your situation.

If you're looking for the APK files they are stored in either /system/app or /data/app

No where to be found. Some apps are but most aren't.

You're not looking in the data folder on your virtual SD card are you?
Navigate to system/data/app
Not sure what icon Astro uses for "system" but it's likely a phone icon.

ASTRO doesn't have root capabilities, so I don't think it will work. Try root explorer or an alternative.

How to get large files off the phone?

I have to send my phone back as I'm getting a replacement so I wanna take EVERYTHING off the SD card however I can't get any of my titanium backup files to go. Does anyone have any ideas?

Have you tried to adb pull yet? Did this just the other day.
adb pull /sdcard/TitaniumBackup/
Will copy the folder to your cpu; Android\android-sdk\platform-tools, unless you direct it elsewhere. This assumes you have the Android SDK installed.
Didn't even think of that I'll give it a try thanks man. Could I do adb pull /sdcard?

Should be able to; might take a while though.
Thanks a ton

unfortunately that doesn't work. Mtp's a *****, really. Adb pull doesn't work on folders recursively, so it'll pull all of the folders without any of the contents. Been there, done that :-(

Damn. I really would rather keep all my stuff...

adb pull will work just fine. I've pulled my entire sdcard partition using it. It pulls all folders and files no problem. Just use the following:
Code:
adb pull /mnt/sdcard C:\whateverlocationyouwant
That will pull everything and put it in 'whateverlocationyouwant' under your C:\. You can obviously change or leave off the C:\whateverlocationyouwant. I just like it to put all content into a separate directory rather than platform-tools.

because of the problems with linux and MPT I use ES File Explorer and transfer files over lan (samba) to & from my windows machines & (s)ftp to my tux.
Easiest way is to mount a stick through an OTG cable...
Try Airdroid, it's free/easy. I use it since my phone is on wifi when I'm at home on my computer anyway.

How to stop gallery from showing EVERY picture it finds.

Tiresome sifting through pages upon pages of pictures from apps and such to find my personal media. Thanks
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
Should be able to move the pics to a new folder titled ".nomedia"
Shouldn't scan that folder.
actually, I think all you need to do is create a file called .nomedia and place it into the folders you don't want the media scanner to scan.
Works great to keep the gallery from adding all of the images that Touchdown (my corporate email program) caches on the phone.
Is there a method to include folders rather than exclude -because I have way too many files from wherever that I would have to exclude with that method. Thanks
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
Bump. What does "bump" mean? Does it mean 'no one is looking at my thread, hey you, will you look at my thread? Either way, hey you... kidding, but please, does anyone know of a way to choose folders for the gallery rather than choose to exclude which as I mentioned would be way to cumbersome? Thanks

Put your pics you want private in a desperate folder. Rename the folder to anything with a period in the beginning and voila!

Hiding private media isn't the issue.

If you don't mind a 3rd party solution, get QuickPic. I seriously haven't used my stock gallery in over a year. It has the option to exclude certain folders ( and thus scan the rest of the SD card ), or include folders instead ( only scans the folders you choose ).
Russian smashed across the interwebz from my Galaxy SII.

You could also make a text file and rename it to .nomedia no name with that file extension and it will not show up, which is what quickpic does for you.

thanks. that's the solution.
edit: actually no, gallery still finds private media and now the folder just renamed with a dot in front has now disappeared.
edit: actually, there is a setting in astro to display such files, BUT then now the gallery app will display contents of private but visible folder so...

Internal storage discrepancy

Something seems to be wrong with the calculation of my internal storage. I feel like I should have more free space. Any ideas where this used space could be hiding? And how I'm using 523MB for pictures isn't possible, I have around 70 photos on this phone. They average 2MB each.

Nandroids?
I only have one nandroid back up. The files in the backup folder aren't particularly large though.

Download Es file explorer, once inside click menu "3 dots" click manager then click SD card analyst. It will show you what your apps are eating or various things being stored. Most likely my guess is a bunch if non sense thumbnails. Probably a bunch of small files.

Glad I found this. Was finally able to locate some old game files that were taking up 3 GB !!Thanks!
I have the exact same problem and this worked, but when I delete it it says the space is free, but j get out and go back and the files are all back again. Its been like this ever since I rooted and unlocked my phone.

Folder with contents that won't delete

Hey all. I've been busting my brain, downloading different file managers, playing with permissions and whatnot trying to delete a couple folders left over from Skynote Rom.There's a folder named "Z" on my internal storage that won't go away. That folder houses the sky note wallpapers and an LMT pie launcher apk. Its in two spots on my internal storage and neither will delete. Though it doesn't take up much memory, its annoying to see 3 skynote wallpaper galleries in my photo gallery every time.
Is there a way to delete these items through some file manager I've yet to try or maybe even through recovery mode? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

One other screenshot to show in gallery. This was taken after I already deleted two other skynote walls galleries.

Does this folder appear in data/media? Try deleting from that location.

Delete it using TWRP. Had that same folder and couldn't get it removed. Until I deleted it from the TWRP recovery..

In your CM explorer app...open settings and enable root mode.
then dump the files you want gone..
Be careful in there....the CM file manager will allow deletion of "any" file within the OS, while root mode is enabled....g

what is this folder ".dmplatform" in the internal SD card?

I noticed it in my nexus 7. Opening it gives another folder, ".dmgames". There are three files with long random names in the folder. I'm not sure if its safe to delete?
Probably just some extra files for an app. If it doesn't take up much room, you can just leave it.
