hi all; well, i use to have an atrix and a defy! wana to ask some questions if u dont mind! thanks
1- when i connect an earphones, the bass is really wonderful! does this feature exist on galaxy W?? thks a lot!
2- does it has a notification led for missing calls and sms? iread that it hasnt? nothing? even some tinny lights?
3- ring volume high enough? as strong as the wave1?
thks a lotttttt , im going to buy one tomorrowww!
hi!
1- as for me bass in stock player for my koss porta pro is weak, but situation changes when using some custom player like Winamp etc with normal EQ or DSP manager
2- noooo, we just have to enable that HUNGRY screen to see something happened or use some software like Vibrate notifier.. we can hope arco can finish cm9 for our device and we'll have such a feature, but now we have nothing...
3- dunno about wave1 but ringtone loudness is enough for me, but it's deeply personal
imho, the best way to know smth is to go to some shop nearby and ask to play with the device))
hope this info will help..

The audio ability got a very good mark in german reviews. But you should always be able to adjust, incase it is to low, the bass with an equalizer app(integrated in some music players).

The Samsung Galaxy series don't have LEDs for notifications, but there are mods which use the backlight LED of the softkeys to display the notifications. Unfortunately there is not yet a mod out for the Galaxy W as far as I know(I8150). But it should be possible!

I don't know how loud the Wave 1 is, but I have no problems with the sound volume with the ringtones.

on the i8150 development section, arco has already released an alpha version of cm9 for sgw, unless you're fond of using your camera and is always using a bt headset and/or quite specific about the location of the external sd, then you can go test it out, visuals is pretty fluid the last time i had it on my sgw, but we're positive that arco could have those other issues and the additional reported ones ironed out and release a beta version pretty soon

== this question popped up again.
Sammy is not going to port ICS on our SGW. This is for sure.
CM9 is the only solution. Thanks acro~
as for the bass its ok in SGW but if u wanna get the best bass out of SGW try applying beats audio mod and using sound equilizer (the best choice for me was poweramp) it will b amazing
---------- Post added at 07:28 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:24 AM ----------
as for the ring volume, its only problem is that it doesnt start high but in an increasing way but u shall b able to bypass that mess by applying a mod (i havent tried it yet for my SGW so im not sure if it really works )

What’s New?
- Attempt at some ICS optimisations
- Added a check for phones with ICS (takes you to sound settings to enable Volume+ in Meida Effects)
- App starts differently (should be more reliable)
- App should be more ‘persistant’ (see above)
- EQ values completely changed
- Volume levels completely changed
- Higher volumes now available (up to +20)
- Louder volumes should now be attainable
- EQ Band frequencies now shown

thanks!!!
What settings are people using on their Nexus?
WoW, I was a fan of Equalizer over Volume+ but am defecting over to this new Beta V+ Camp. The Equalizer having no auto start was a pain anyway.
The thing gets loud enough to make the speaker distort and go into cut out if pushed more. It looks like Sammy added a protection circuit. Amazing.
Scared me, I thought I blew her. But after backing out she came back. It cuts out to a super low level and will not respond until you correct or reset.
I adjusted while listening to a known strong .mp3 on my phone. Coolio's Gansta Paradise.
Eq Type = Rock
No Room Effect
Volume Level - +14 (Distorts @ 15 and cuts out @ 16 & Above)
No Base enhance
No Equlaizer. (Move those sliders over too much and she cuts out)
---------- Post added at 05:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:26 PM ----------
I would think the equalizer would apply to headsets. The little speaker on the GN is hardly something to fine tune eh?
OK. Maybe I'm just stupid ... or too old because you know .. over 40 your brain just goes but all the sounds, music and whatnot are really loud and I like this BUT one of the things I thought that Volume+ would do is make all sounds louder. I would REALLY like the lock sounds to be as loud as say .. an SMS notification but even with Volume+ they are not ... so light I can barely hear them. Is there a setting for this I am missing? Or is it just the volume the lock sounds are recorded at?
Anybody else having problems with the EQ Settings for the speaker? I can't change it to Good Quality - keeps changing to treble boost instead.

Yeah I'm having the same problem. It's a beta, can't wait for the finished product.
Hi,
Testing since a few days, downloaded from: http://androidaudiohacks.com/ .Credit to him
Good, but for me doesn't set on boot...,just that for me...
In any case the dev of volume+ have a Gnex
I always used volume+ since my Desire HD,HTC Sensation (on CM7 which come with Dsp Manager, but i have never seen any improvements, specially for ringtones/notifications).
I've posted a comparo with Dsp manager/Volume+ before the beta in a thread in that section...
You can always use some settings like the previous version: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362335 ,work great for me...+ check "Speaker Modifications" and in Advanced Settings set also "Speaker Modifications",for both "Volume level" is not bad set to 8 with the above values ,also depend what you set in settings/sound...
I've not tested "Virtual Room Effect",the dev says it's not work...So i've not tested
Enjoy, thanks to Meltus (the dev),Since he has a Gnex i think Volume+ will be better
Link is dead ):

If it helps... (Some settings can be adjusted, like Volume Level):
Don't forget that:
Works great for me,ringtones and notifications are greatly improved ,for me Dsp Manager never does not "allow" this (especially for improve notifications/ringtones)...
I hope i did not forget anything
And let the dev improve the settings for his app,he has its Gnex since a few days...

Any ideas??
Unrooted 4.0.2. Gnex

kind of hoping someone gives us a clue. Thats my only slight gripe low speaker volume, I thought one of the updates had a supposed fix but im here with 4.0.2 and nothing

Try this:
Volume+ Free - LINK
or buy it to make it even louder: Volume+ (Sound Boost) - LINK
If you ever root, use DSP Manager, a lot better then Volume+:

this doesn't help with "in-call, earpiece" volume. i recall that this type of change had to be done at the kernel level. i had the same issue with my Nexus One and a kernel dev boosted the output tables (or something like that) in the kernel and it made a big difference. i was hopeful that Samsung's service codes could be accessed to change in-call volumes. however, those codes don't work on the Galaxy Nexus.
Hmm. Flashed dsp manager and now it force closes every time i try and open it. Any way to get it working or at least remove it?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
This has been covered in depth. Install equalizer or volume+, and max out each frequency. Your volume will double for all audio, ringers, notifications, and music. But call volume will stay the same.
So it does work with ICS?
I used volume+. Out the box volume is low. For each setting i put it on the one after the *warning*. Does its job.
Equalizer is my favorite over volume+... and yes the both work on ice cream. Works excellent.
So its just called equalizer??
Does it have some other options over the earpiece also?
Thanks guys. I've thrown a few thanks hits around too. = )
Cheers.
Equalizer by smart apps. Great app.
I use volume + and works great. I got the paid version. These are my settings and its loud I have to turn my phone down at work cuz when it rings its loud as hell lol.

Cool man thanks for the uploads dude!!
So I'm trying g to decide without knowing what one works aswell as what one is better.....dilemma!! Haha.
Thanks again guys. = )
One other thing, is the Gnex speaker capable of going louder without damage??
also make sure you go to sound settings > music effects and choose volume +. a lot of people who don't notice a difference in volume have missed that essential step

Can anyone tell me the best volume booter for Htc One X, which just make its loud speaker loud when getting calls, playing music, but also not distort/crackles the sound due to more high volume ?!
have tried volume+ 1.9.0.1 booster, does some changes but doesn't increases the volume, maybe slightly though makes sound more distorted..
Any help would be highly appreciated

i am sorry let me clear i am talking about the loud speaker of the phone, not the in-ear... in ear is amazing as hell i love them i am using klipsch s4 with it,,, but i am missing alot of phone calls as its loud speaker volume is low(vibration is good but doesn't impacts well on skin (if kept in pocket), by which we can notice a call is coming. And if playing video songs on loud speaker, many plays fine but some stutters/crackles(keeping sound enhancer on) a little and few mp3 songs also gives this problem even as they cannot get sound enhancer on(maybe due to good quality, but songs downloaded for free or something)
fair enough..nothing else that i can recommend then..volume plus is the only one..and from trying to search all the results lead to that...sorry dude

It looks like someone did it with Samsung source last year.... First time I've heard of it in a tw rom....
Anyone else dumbfounded by this being set so low? This was the reason I started running aosp roms on my EVO 4G.... And kept with them on my Galaxy SII.
Why isn't this more important to people? Music sounds like poop over bluetooth.
Anyone know of a fix for the Note 3?

I just made the changes, but haven't been out to my car yet. Hoping for the best, but honestly, not expecting much. What do these changes do? I'm gonna google it, but....I'm asking here too.
You're welcome ^^
From what I googled: it reroute your audio stream through main CPU instead of special DFX introduced in JB+, the Low Power Audio decoder -lpa.decode- (thus increase in batt usage like playing music in pre-JB Android)...
I would be glad if it works for you as well ad solve your problem ^^

I was super excited, but ...it didn't work. Highs still sound like poop. It's hard to tell sometimes, but, when my random playlist hit In The Mall by Weezer, it became very obvious that it still sucked.
the cymbols in that song are pretty isolated, and that's where you can hear the static compression. just sounds terrible to me...and i'm far from an audiophile...
Thanks for responding though!
Ah yes, its still suck but better than using LPA Decoder...
Still have to find a way to make it at least listenable....
I'm an audiophile... And this problem made me crazy...
Some says that its intentional by Sammy, coz Sammy use APT-X protocol for streaming music (maybe its their marketing strategy to make ppl switch to Samsung Level headset/APT-X compatible headset?).

You'll need Root Explorer or equivalent.

It's best to raise the digital volume it sounds less distorted ...my setting are +12 to all digital volumes and sounds great

I have tried that and multiple others. Some work well, some dont.
None have given me what I am looking for which it the ability to boost things like system volume, notification volume, etc. Still looking for a way to do that.
The best that I can accomplish is boosting media volume via a music or video player. If that is all you are looking for then the equalizer and bass booster will work fine.
