Hey guys,
Case-Mate recently released a program that allows you to make custom cases by uploading a picture or designs to their website. This is an awesome option for users looking to customize cases to their own liking. What you get is a Barely There case with your image or design printed on the back. The printing process is fantastic, leading to a super high quality image on the back. Definitely impressed with how mine turned out.
Full video below showcasing the process and final result! I urge you to check it out!
Nice thorough review, pros and cons, just what we need to know.
Now if I can just make up my mind on a theme for the software, I can get easily get a case to match.

Thanks! Appreciate the support.
It was difficult for me at first, since I just wanted to find an image that showed exactly what I wanted instead of making my own. Since you have so many options to choose from, you should be able to make something great. Goodluck with that

While I haven't tested it out, the reason I say so is because my GSM extended won't fit. The LTE extended is a bit thicker than GSM extended, so I assume it won't either.
It fits the GSM Stock a little loose (as shown) but it's to be expected since it is made for the LTE model.
Could you post the original image that you used, or at least its resolution?
And what do they mean with "Area inside dotted line prints on case"? You did not zoom in your image to fill the whole dotted area...
thx

I deleted it after the video, sorry.
That statement means that anything inside that box will be printed on the case, even though I left a slight gap at the top, it didn't affect the overall result.

yep. the vibrant and i9000actually share the same accessories as well. except theres slight differences in screen protectors because of the front facing camera, but nothing to major. if you're on eBay, youll find a lot more accessories if you search for "i9000"stuff instead of "vibrant "

it grew on me..it does get dirty on the edges, and dust was in the paint job,but at least i got a refund and get to keep the battery door..so no complaints anymore =)
Pick the Samsung OEM door. These rubberized ones don't snap on as well and stick out on the sides ever so slightly. When I take off my mesh case it gets stuck and tries to take the battery door off completely, and that might result in the loss of power from the battery dropping.

review:
After my first disapointing buy from ebay i bought this "sexy"
synthetic leather case.
Its weight is 290 grams.
Is a very-very slim case and when it closed, the case is tightly fixed on the tablet.
It has 3 deep grooves for standing and the tablet is very stable in these positions.
The philosophy of this case is "to not hiding nothing from the tablet when you use it."
On the back side there is a gentle opening for the camera.
It smells like leather.
The close clip aplly a good force to keep the case closed.
Every button or socket of the tablet is accesible with closed case
And finally i am happy, and this is the most important
Looks good, does it have a typing angle? What is the name?
also are you able to charge the tab without having the case open? i have one such and i need to have my case open each time i charge which is a pain
This is maybe the case I'm looking for. Can you please share the name and the link for the case. Since you can't post links, replace for examples the dots of the url with spaces or some other characters.
Maybe this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320786081962#ht_2592wt_1165
You have to open the case when charging (if I remember right).
I bought this. Premium quality indeed.
EDIT:
cheaper one

I must say the case looks really nice!
I was wondering about the 3 viewing angles though - do they firmly support the Tab? Would hate to buy it and then find out it slips and falls out when I set it up on one of the angles (I saw that happen before...). Also, is it possible to use this case to prop your Tab up when you put it in your lap (in bed or something similar)? Or is it too flimsy?
And do you feel the extra weight when you carry the tab around? I really love how light it is right now, you don't even notice you have it in your bag (with the standard samsung pouch on) and it's really easy to hold it in one hand and typing with the other if you're walking around the house.

The gaps for the 3 viewing angles are deep enough, and yes you can use it in your lap, my wife do it often.

is still light it is just 290 grams more.
but if you want to use it with one hand, i think that the best way is
to hold it in portrait like a book because the total weight is about 850 grams

Isn't it the same size? If it is, it should fit... can't help you out there though as I have a 7500 one.
The same case, with a new name, posted once again in a new thread. This was $12 on amazon last week.
Really? I sure couldn't find it when I looked (didn't look really hard though)
Doesn't really matter though, if it's a good case I'm more then willing to spend $23 on it. The most basic samsung pouch costs 25€ (about $35) here :S.

Still, good to know a cheaper option might exist for some people, thanks!

For people trying to find one from the UK...
I purchased a look a like case from here:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005ECHQ4C
I was struggling to find it as cheap as in the US for example.
The one from the above link, seem to be very good so far. All viewing angles work great, both on a flat surface and on my lap. The typing position is my most used.
'Leather' quality seems good so far. Of course it is going to add some weight, but not really an issue for me. ALL ports/buttons are fully accessible, inc charging when case is closed.
its a great case
Just wanted to share this, can someone here confirm if they already used this product? I think this will answer the terrible screen protection options for the galaxy nexus. =) Might grab one and try it for myself =)

edit: found it on amazon and ordered it. i hate all the options for screen protection atm so why not
I just got some from Amazon too, I'll post back when I get it.
Any first hand reviews (other than those on YouTube) would be great. I have a GhostArmour shield installed right now and I don't mind it so much, but this looks amazing!
I am just a little nervous that this doesn't seem to be removable if I don't like it... which with the GNex screen isn't good at all!
hmmm, this looks really good. I'm gonna go ahead and order some for myself too.
I just ordered an XO skins screen protector. But this looking intriguing! I wonder if I can return it and pickup a bottle of this.
Would love to see more!
Hey guys just did a quick look around online and also found this company making a similar product, the company is Liquid Defender.
http://liquiddefender.com/main.sc
interesting , i am skeptical though.
Ill keep an eye on thread.
Can you post the amazon link plz, seems I'm too dumb to find it
EDIT*** I don't know if I would trust liquid defender... From their website: "but it also featuring the ability to form a protective coating" do they proofread? Also their instructions state to apply the product in a clockwise motion while their video shows them applying it in a counter clockwise motion (why would it matter?)...

All the videos and directions I saw said do NOT apply in clockwise OR counter-clockwise... Only apply in ONE direction, up to down, down to up, left to right, right to left.... no circles...
I think they might have pushed this to market a little quick and might be getting their PR and documentation a little mixed up.
The emergence of another product with similar performance makes me wonder if we are seeing the next "wet-apply" style revolution. Someone figured out the next best thing and this is the beginning of the new trend

yup they are same..pulled this frm their site:
(Note: HARD-SHIELD formal name is LIQUID-ARMOR, HARD-SHIELD packs by clamshell with same formula as LIQUID-ARMOR)
the scratch test uses the same items to scratch a naked GN as in the other youtube videos that say the nexus won't scratch. Key/ screwdriver. so why is this better? How do you replace it?
Can you remove this if it gets scratched?
I want to see them do a real scratch test.
1. Apply the liquid-armor.
2. Scratch it with sandpaper (to simulate sand getting in your pocket or something)
3. Remove it???
4. Show that the screen underneath the liquid-armor has not been scratched.
5. Apply new liquid-armor.
If you cannot remove it after it is scratched, it is worse than an xo-skins or plastic protector, which are removable.
If only I can have the item as fast I can, I can try making a review and test using different kinds of camera lens filters. Can someone post a link from Amazon? I've been searching for it and to no avail =(

For anyone with the Spigen Ultra Hybrid case, you'll have noticed that the case came with two cutouts to cover the clear backing.
If anyone is interested in creating a custom back image, I have created a template (PSD) which you can just add your design in and print.
Simply put your design under the initial layer, align/fit your design to your liking and that's it!
An example has been attached as well as a zipped version of the PSD.

Thanks for the feedback the reason those its are "rough" is because when the backplate is placed with the case they are not seen the and i can promise you when the backplate is printed out as is "windows printing issues aside" the template fits perfectly when cut out, So i hope i addressed the concerns you have
EDIT: I reviewed those images again and my original template looked the same on the pc screen as Dans one but when printed out the camera cutout was too far down this was the reason for me producing a new version of it with all the changes
Thanks for the Support anyway
Hey there,
Great work with the template, it fits perfectly in the case!
I took the freedom to modify the template a bit to include a printable border (for white designs) and a layer that shows the actual visible area of the back window.
Before printing remember to hide the "Visible Area" layer.
Also, all of the elements are saved as Patterns so you can modify or fill them the way you want.
The template is in GIMP .xcf format as I don't have PS.
Cheers
Thanks for the template, i was thinking of doing one myself, might stick a few on an a4 page and get them printed out in one go in high quality.
I messed around with one of the spare prints that came with mine and i stickerbombed it and trimed it for the camera and sides. Heres the results ill post my ones i get printed as soon as i do them up.

Found the actual page to which they have renders. The email was to a "generic" page:

It is real wood and something different. Don't think the price is all that bad. I might get it once their custom v20 section works so I can do a custom logo. When I select custom phone and select a v20 it shows an iPhone I believe. Plus it comes with a camera lens cover for people who is afraid of their lens glass cracking. As seems to be an issue.

Thanks man, I'm going with the same concept of using a ouija board, but now they have this inlay feature that'll give this sort of 2 tone look that they didn't have before. I'm looking to take advantage of this with some high contrast. I'll post once it's completed.
I bit the bullet and ordered this. They gave me a 10% off code when I put the combination i wanted in my cart and didn't buy right away. Try it, they may send you a code as well. Mine should be here in a week or two. Takes a few days to make apparently.
Yea I think it took a week to get mine, don't remember exactly. But it was well worth it in my opinion. Post pics once you get it in!
I've never heard of Toast but these look great and you can add you initials! They can keep the front panel though, makes it look like a TV from the 1970's.
I love my toast. It's amazing. Careful though once you place the case in place, that's it. It will not come off without force. I'm glad I've stumbled onto this forum and decided to try it. It's awesome! I'll post pics soon!
I'd feel a right twat pulling out my piece of precision machined tech covered in a primitive diy-looking chunk of wood.
