Hello there,
I have had the HTC One X for a couple of days and it is truly brilliant.
However, I am worried that there are a few problems and I would like to know if anyone else is experiencing them and if they are solvable with an update.
I like to play a game called piano master, which requires me tu use up to four fingers at once. When I play though, it only recognises two. I checked antutu tester and it confirmed that it only recognises two fingers, yet HTC media link has a three finger gesture that works fine for me.
Also, applications often crash but can be repaired by locking and unlocking. Furthermore, the keyboard lags sometimes as well as certain elements of Sense going fuzzy for short bursts.
I appreciate any help or suggestions! Thank you.

Uhm, if you device only recognizes two fingers that could be a problem with the hardware (haven't heard the issue from other people so far). Perhaps try a Factory Reset and see if that solves anything ?
PS : Try some other apps to, could be that you just had the bad luck of finding two apps which don't function properly with the One X. (Osmos Demo uses 3 fingers to acces menu, search for it on http://play.google.com)
Thank you for replying!
I have tried many applications and they all have the same outcome, yet if I put three fingers on the screen and push them up, it goes to HTC media link mode.
I think the problem is that, with any application open, If I do that three finger gesture, it goes into media link mode.
Perhaps HTC has put a block on more than two fingers for other application?

Try the following :
Settings
Screen
HTC Drag -(Disable the option)
Try disabling the HTC gestures option in display settings it ignores more then 3 fingers ?
Thank you so much it has worked!
Do you think the other problems I described are fixable as well?

The other issues are known issues. All other problems are related to bugs and badly written code, they should be fixed when HTC finds the time for it ;-)!

I am asking this because I am not sure if I should return my HTC One X back to rogers. I have the Canadian version of the HOX. My issue is that when I use multitouch, the second input sticks when i put it in the screen. For example when I play a game I use my left thumb to move and my right thumb to look and it will jump to the right. It will pause and then move too much. It is not a fluid motion. Is this normal?
I have not been able to find any information on this and the multitouch test app confirms my issue.

I have had that issue in CM9, is that what ur running? That has this issue.
I'm sorry I should have stated this. No my phone is not rooted I got it about a week ago. It is stock rom and kernel.
Have it too, but only on AOKP, and I like AOKP, it's fast, but it's annoying in games.
Turn off the 3-finger gesture of the HTC Media Link HD in Settings>Display>Gestures Menu
When I was off buying mine (2nd hand ) I had the same problem in every multitouch tests. So turning that off made it fix. It wasnt able to detect the 2 fingers.
Brought my phone back to Rogers (told them I was having wifi issues as well as my multitouch issue ) just to get a new phone and they suprisingly gave me a new one right then and there. Anyways this new phone also has the same issue. I have tried turning off the HTC gestures and am still having the same problem with the multitouch. I honestly dont know whats wrong.

No issues here. The GPS really shouldn't be any different for ingress than other apps. Though the ingress compass appears permanently broken. Other apps have no problem with the compass but ingress can't get it right no matter what I do.

I have no issues at all, not even with the compass. I feel like its not using the right drawables, buttons and other UI elements seem oversized but GPS, etc. work great.
Edit: The LTE coverage around here is great and I don't have to deal with the drop-back to 3G (which basically kills ingress) like I had to with the One S. That, plus the slightly larger battery makes this a much better Ingress phone than my old one.
Turn the back of the phone to the sky!

I got the compass to work with the m8 in Ingress! All you have to do is point the back of the phone directly up. After trying that orientation I tried some others and as it turns out, landscape works too. Keep in mind for all of these *working* orientations, the top of the phone is your direction vector.
I doubt anyone will play by walking around with their m8 turned screen down (and walking backwards), but the landscape orientations might help
are you all having any issues with Ingress after 1.54?

That happens randomly on every device once in a while. My M8 works awesome for Ingress. Great GPS & LTE & my compass work perfectly in any orientation. With Flar2's ElementalX & a couple of tweaks, I get 5+ of Ingress screen on time.
BTW, that issue I've never had on the M8, but N7 & N5. A wipe of cache & dalvik with a reboot usually fixes it.

Make sure you do a full power down of the phone (Turn off Fast boot in the Power menu) and bring it back up. I only see this issue when I switch SIM cards and doing a full power off fixes it for me.
app restart while opening media files and passcodes
Hey guys,
I'm having issues when trying to open media files or submitting passcodes.
The app restarts to scanner. Tried several things: set chrome to default browser, made sure YouTube is working, but nothing seems to do the trick.
Have a rooted M8, almost stock Rom..
Anyone ideas what problem might be ?

Mine is stock non-rooted. No issues here.
I've been able to replicate this issue on my G4 (815T Australian model) on a daily basis, just on the instagram app though.
I recorded a video of it. Slowmo part shows the issue
https://goo.gl/photos/F823e125PQckCPLp6
The screen seems confused and it just scrolls the other way even if my thumb wasn't touching the screen.
Factory data reset did not fix anything.
Are you able to replicate this LG G4 owners?
I don't use Instagram, so can't help with that app, sorry.
But if you go into Developer Options, and turn on "Show touch data", it might help add some more info to the discussion. It will show a trace on the screen of what the phone's touchscreen interpreted from your last tap/swipe.
It would presumably show a swipe up, and then back down, when you're getting these ghost touches that change the scroll direction. But perhaps it could also help show if swipes are interpreted the same way in other apps. It might help you learn a little more about what the phone is seeing, at least.
Thanks for the video and everything but why a new thread? Plenty of videos on the main thread.
Is another thread really necessary?

Might be, because this only happens with IG. I've got the exact same problem, only with IG and its very annoying.

You can try to change the touch feedback time from short to medium under settings/accessibility/motor & cogination. This will reduce the touch feedback time. Give it a try, and see if it gets better.

Well this problem is only related to the LG G4 and IG for me...I don't have any other touchscreen problems with this phone. So for me I guess this is not hardware related. During the day I just had 2 small "ghost touches", way better than before. Will see how it goes the next few days...
Edit :
after a view days, it looks like it didn't solve this issue. Today I notice the ghost touches were there again in IG
Force GPU rendening under Developer options somewhat helped.
The new v10f on my Australian G4 didn't fix the issue as well.
Any updates on this? I had same issue. N this is a replacement unit after 2.5 weeks of waiting
Just day one and this ghost touch come up.
I also have this problem
Did you solve the problem?
I am facing similar issue.between...i am not using ig.
I've had this issue as well (not just IG) and sent the phone back for servicing. It was sent back to me with a report showing that they'd done a few things but the problem is still there. I'd been thinking I'd send it back in once more and ask them to have another look. I'm getting ghost touches everywhere and quite a bit, it's very annoying.
Someone mentioned there was another, large thread about this issue but I can't seem to find it, can anyone point me to it?
Hi, I posted this in a new thread yesterday as I couldn't find anything. Never thought to search for 'ghost taps' duh.
Every now and then when just doing normal things on the my phone it totally freaks out and all by it self it suddenly starts to tap random parts of the desktop, slides the pages, opens apps, closes apps, goes into calculator and a bunch of buttons are pressed randomly. It's almost like someone has hacked my phone and is trolling me by just tapping randomly on the phone.
Just today when looking at Facebook it closed the app, scrolled down notifications, data was turned off and wifi turned on.
I thought it might have been my screeen protector, bit of moisture in it or something. Took that off and still does it. Took out the battery for a minute and still does it.
It happened a few months ago then nothing for ages and now it's started again this weekend.
Thought it might have been only when connected to data but has now done it when offline.
Any one got a solution? Does a custom rom fix?
New member here, first post.
I had my g4 several weeks ago (uk version). Great phone, however recently the screen seems far too sensitive. Sometimes apps or other features are activating on their own without me pressing on them.
I looked in the settings but havent found a way to resolve this. Can anyone offer any suggestions?
Just to clarify a bit more about my issue.
Its like the "floating touch" some phones have, where i can be an inch or two away from the screen but it still activates. More rarely, it seems as if it was activating by sensing light or movement. Strange. Is the g4 supposed to have this type of function?

That sounds like a problem. The G4 is actually known for lacking sensitivity and yours is doing the opposite. enable this settings to see if it is actually detecting ghost touches.
Settings, About Phone, Software Info and tap on 'Buidld number' 7 times. Then go back to settings and tap Developer options, enable 'Show Touches'
if the dots show without your intervention, then it's likely due to faulty touchscreen.
Anyways, do a factory reset and see if it helped.

Same here, on Imperium and Stock rom, I have the phone since 6 months and it is a really random issue... my bootloader is unlock so I don't know if I can send it to warranty.
For information I have enable the touch "tracing" in developper menu, and when the issue occurred it's getting me perfect vertical line from bottom to top screen, and open a lot of apps..

And from the sound of it... Yours pretty much ****ed, at least to my knowledge. Hardware screwed and no warranty. Just bought mine like 3 weeks ago, and hated it so much. So much hyped, but the experienced is so far ****ty at best.
I suspect mine hardware issue. This seems like it's gonna be the first, and the last LG for me. Even mine with warranty still intact. Blackberry used to give this feeling long ago with their ****ty storm. Now, LG and blackberry can share that same ****ed up grave.
As madgibbon indicates, I was on Accessibility / Motricity / Response time (my phone is in french so i'm not sure if it will be exactly like that on yours) and I have set to "Long".
Since that, the issue is no longer appear, I have also switch to rom V20F (Turkey) with still the same setting for accessibility, and I don't have the issue anymore.
I don't know if it is a hardware issue, my phone falls maybe 4 times but with a case and from a little height, no broken glass or something else.
This is all the things I tried before that ;
Using flipcover (QI charge and quick circle), I have tested the "normal" case but same issue
I had a glass protection, I have removed it and cleaned my screen, same issue
I have done lot of hard reset (i'm kind of full wipe addict), same issue
Only the solution of madgibbon works fortunately, thanks mate
I'm also a bit disappointed by this phone, it is great sure I mean fluid, great camera etc... but I have some little issue that ruin the experience unfortunately (this issue with touchscreen, i'm experiencing issue with my Chromecast too that i don't have with other phones, some heating, I don't find the battery usage so good since MM, can't relock bootloader since now). I don't blame LG because i'm using some of their products and I'm / was really satisfied with : Optimus 2x, Nexus 5, TV, Monitor, Sound Bar. Anyway, waiting for 2016's Nexus and I will see if I switch or not.

Screen problem after all, just picked my phone up from the place that I bought for under warranty fix, and they told me they did replace for a new screen, and all is looking fine and dandy for now. Hope it stay this way, finger crossed. 3 weeks purchased and already this problem. I doubt this thing will last.
Hi guys, got my OP3 a few days ago and been loving every bit of the speed.
I encountered something last night when I turned on the on-screen navigation buttons.
I noticed that the left "back" button does not register sometimes when it is pressed.
The vibration feedback did prop, just that the "back" action was not registered to the software.
I tried swapping the Navigation buttons to recent on the left and back on the right, both the buttons work flawlessly.
Anyone experiencing this issue?
there is a (500ms?) delay if you have custom double-tap actions enabled with the capacitive buttons, but I've not heard of any issues with the software (on-screen) buttons.
I don't believe there is a 500ms delay on the back software button. Is there a way to not use the pre-installed navigation and use a third party to test it out instead?
Is there a way that the back button could be reversing some background activities? I'm saying this because the vibration did prop but the back action will not register until I press it two or three times.
Little things, but annoying when it kept happening.
I tried the touch screen tester apps and they are all working fine on that particular area.
Found a similar issue on reddit. Tracking this issue on the OnePlus forum. https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/on-screen-navigation-back-button-bug.455730/

Hi, yes you're not alone. Getting the same problem A LOT with the back key only when using the software nav bar. It doesn't matter if the keys are swapped from left to right. The only time it doesn't happen is when I use the hard keys.
I only got this new phone yesterday, but can't remember if this problem happened before I updated to 3.2.1 which I did after setting everything up. I've tried wiping the cache partition, which doesn't help, so now considering a factory wipe to give me a clean install of the latest software. Don't think it will help somehow... I may now be tempted back to my trusty Nexus 6p in spite of its big size. At least it works properly.

Added you to the list. Please keep us updated if there's a fix.
Just to add, I factory reset the phone earlier and the back button problem hasn't completely stopped but is less frequent now - at least so far.
If there are any habitual OP3 nav bar users out there, can you confirm if this happened before the 3.2.1 update? Btw, tried running the phone in safe mode yesterday to check if an app was causing this, but it made no difference. Looks like a sure fire software bug to me.
Yea .... facing th same issue
Same issue on 3.2.1
I think we can pretty much confirm that this happens to most of us who uses the software back button.
The only temporary fix for this for now is to swap the buttons, the back button works flawlessly (if I recall properly) when it is on the right side.
So far the back soft key issue seems fixed on today's 3.2.2 update. Well so far so good anyway.

Scratch that. It's still not fixed, just takes a while to reveal itself after the update. Back to the hard keys - sigh!

Judging from the fact that hardly anybody on this forum or the One Plus forums is talking about this bug, I get the feeling that it won't be considered a major priority for fixing in any upcoming software updates. Nevertheless I switched back to software buttons last night to see if I could figure out if there's any pattern to the back button problem. I now think it may be related to how quickly you tap the button. Basically, when I tap the back button very fast, where my finger makes contact with the screen for only the briefest of moments, it seems to work properly every single time. Therefore I'm wondering if the bug may be caused by a button trigger value that's way too short. If the tap is too long the button timer fails to register a successful tap. Er, if such a timer even exists of course - I'm no button expert.
I'm also aware this may be some kind of placebo effect and the button action is actually just as flaky as before, and it's merely a coincidence I haven't seen the bug when I'm making an effort to tap the key fast. However, I wondered if anyone could put this daft idea to the test. The best way to do it is to hold the phone with one hand while you use the index finger of the other hand to tap the screen. I've found that It's harder to tap fast with your thumb if you're using the phone one-handed.
And don't flame me if this doesn't work for you as I admit I may be totally wrong here.

Well for me pressing it a brief amount of time or pressing the button for a long period of time doesn't make much of a difference.
The effects are too random for me and it's even harder to make a video out of this because of the randomness.
Why would you want to use on-screen navigation buttons on this phone if i may ask? [emoji12]

Guys, I was fighting with OnePlus Support regarding the issue on the weekend, even captured a video demonstrating the bug. At one moment I just forwarded a conversation with TS to Carl Pei directly. Eventually got a response from both TS and Carl that their developers will fix this in the next update. Took a lot of nerves to get a proper answer.

For me at least there are a few reasons:
1) I often use my phone one-handed while holding a railing with the other hand standing on a busy train to/from work. I find it much easier to use the soft nav keys as they are about 2cm above the bottom of the device, which means I can support the phone more easily with my little finger under it. When I use the hard keys I really have to strain my thumb to use them and hold the device as they are too close to the edge for me. Using the on-screen keyboard is also easier for me swiping one-handed if it's also higher up.
2) I appreciate using the hard keys give the perception that the screen is bigger, but in many situations that doesn't make using the device any better, except there's maybe slightly less scrolling involved. Just because I can see more e-mails listed at once or see more text at the same time on a bigger screen, doesn't mean I can photographically read all of it in one blink.
3) I find the camera easier to use when I use soft keys as I can hold the 'chin' of the device. If I use the hard keys, I have to take care to avoid touching them by holding the thin edge of the device. Generally on devices with hard keys I accidentally press the nav keys a lot more.
4) In most cases, multimedia and gaming is not affected by soft keys, which just auto-hide so the game or movie can use the whole screen. As with the camera, I find it easier to play games when I don't keep hitting nav keys by mistake, which I do much more with the hard keys enabled.
5) Lastly, you could argue that Google intends Android to be used with soft keys. My last 4 nexus phones had them and a lot of other OEMs favour them. I guess that's what I'm most used to, and that's my main reason. I concede there are probably more people who've had Samsung devices than Nexuses, so they will no doubt prefer hard keys - maybe with the back button on the right. One of the great things about the OP3 is that in theory, it should work for every user's preferences.
Don't get me wrong, soft keys are not perfect. For some older apps they don't auto-hide - and with some apps that are up-to-date most notably the Chrome browser and Google maps and sat nav where the screen really is bigger with hard keys. The important thing is that if the OP3 has the option to use soft keys, they really should just work whether you like them or not.

If this is true and the big guy himself has responded directly, then you sir are a hero. Well done for your persistence.

Yes, that's the truth. I can not post external links or attach images as a proof because I'm a new member on XDA (usually use it in a read-only mode). It took two support agents of a first line only to create a case with a number. Then a long conversation via email.

I have no reason to doubt you mate, it's whether the reply actually came from Carl Pei and not one of his customer services people using his name. Either way, at least you've brought this issue to their attention and have got some kind of favourable response. Fingers crossed they follow this up like they told you.
It also shows that while people like me just moan and talk about the problem, you may have achieved a lot more with direct action.
Still no fix for this bug in 3.2.4. On screen back button still as flaky as before.
