I had the HTC hero and had received a skype.apk that was from verizon (worked on sprint and the heros as it allowed the voice chat that was a verizon exclusive). Unfortunately on my Hero it was always running and it bogged down performance/battery.
Now that I have an EVO I would like to use this again and was curious if I could use the one from the market and get voice on Sprint, or do I still have to use the Verizon version to get the voice chat.
Can we do video chat yet now that we have a front camera like the Iphone? Or has that not been ported for us yet?
You can do voice chat and calls over WiFi.
You cannot do voice chat or calls over 3G.
You cannot do video chat or calls at all.
There's a hacked version of Skype which allows voice chat and calls over 3G for phones in the USA.
I have a google play nexus on straight talk and when i go to video chat or voice chat on GTALK it says i have to be on wifi weird. I had the same phone on sprint and i could video chat on gtalk over mobile data. Any body know a workaround or solution. Oh i have the ATT sim card.
Is video.call possible with this phone? My wife has a galaxy sl and can do video call. Does the captivate glide have this capability? I've done it with gtalk and skype.

Yes. I have done it with Skype, Fring and the google one I think is Gtalk.
I have done it with skype and gtalk as well. On my wifes galaxy sl it has an option for video call when she makes a normal phone call. Does this phone have that type of option?

What I do have is Contacts from Skype that I have merged with my Google Contacts allow me to make a skype video call. It has the option "Video call with Skype"
I went to Contacts ---> Groups --> and choose my Skype user name and can see all my Skype contacts and those contacts have the "Video call with Skype" option.
Worked just fine calling my friend's Xperia Play VZW over Talk. Front camera was better than his
is there any way to have video calls via dialer? i've got free video calls, not data so I don't want to use skype or talk
Ask you're survive provider what app they support in free video calls, dialer has no ability to make video calls.

Seconding dudejb here -- this is done through some app provided by that carrier, which may only be available on phones sold by that provider. Even if they won't willingly provide you with the app, hope is not completely lost -- you can dump the APK from a friend's Android phone, or get creative with an OtG cable on a demo unit at one of their stores. No guarantees that'll work though -- it may depend on some weird framework or hardware inside their phones.
any changes?
Hi, I've tried to search forum in this topic without success, so I need a clear answer for this question: is there any ROM supporting native video calls at the moment for i927?
And the second question (no need for very clear answer ) - anybody found any way to make native video call with i927? I thought this device is part of Galaxy S II series of phones which were declared to support such calls, but I'm quite confused now and afraid of being mislead...
Hello.
I don't see the qik t-mobile video chat in the note 2. It was pre-installed when I was using the S2.
what video chat app are you guys using?
skype... you can video chat while typing a message to the other person... plus they don't have to be on their phones...

Qik got purchased by Skype. Skype is know owned by Microsoft.
Skype is good Video/Audio chat service.
Google Talk works not bad too.

Mostly everyone I speak to is on G+ so we can hangout or video chat on there, but Skype is a good alternative. Especially since the other person doesn't have to be on their phone.
thanks for all the replies,
If the other person is on t-mobile, and I use skype to video chat his cell phone. Is the video chat going to be free?

Skype to skype is always free, data will be used (or wifi), but no minutes from plan.
Why can't I do video calls with my ZenFone 2, with my old Galaxy S4 I could do video calls in Facebook messenger but for some reason I can't with the zenfone, is there a reason for this? Is there a way to get it working? I travel for work and enjoy using the video call to see my children when away.
