Not sure if this is common knowledge, but Storm over on the Nexus board built a color calibrator program that does a great job fixing color balance problems (I'm looking at you Nova LCD).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=745248
I am successfully using the cyanogen nightly apk version to correct the blue/purple hue on my nova. It took a little messing around and I do not have a color meter, but I ended up getting results that look great (used my macbook LCD which is color calibrated as the target).
Every LCD is different, but my settings are 919 red/ 905 green / 722 blue.
im about to try this out myself. so i flash to install this???

If you have CM6, it's already installed... Just go to Settings -> Cyogenmod Settings -> Display -> Render UI, and choose one of the last 3.
Otherwise, flash the Universal APK from that thread-- it worked for my on BakedSnack and Fresh. Don't forget in any case to install the Calibrator APK... it allows you to manually tweak the settings, and also ensures that any settings you choose will be re-applied at bootup.
Well as I don't have cm6, it seems the sense version might be incompatible. I flashed the version sense (desire) and installed the apk. Upon changing any of the sliders results in a fc.
For now I think this calibration is limited to cm6; unless I just screwed something up and somebody else can get it to work. I'm going to try and use the universal install next and see if that'll get it to work. If it doesn't then us sense users are sol.

I had thought i had said if you don't have CM6, then try flashing the Universal version, not the Sense one-- the sense one seems limited to a specific ROM for the Desire. I had no issues flashing the Universal one on BakedSnack and Fresh, which both still have Sense.
Apk
One thing to note for CM6 users - the apk file allows you to tweak the 3 color bands to any setting you want, rather than just the 3 presets provided in the Cyanogen render effect menu. I was getting too much yellow in all of the N1 presets and was able to get good whites with the sliders.
I'm not sure how to run this on sense. Why would anyone want to use sense? I'm in a fast 4g area and I still cant stand it.
for stock with root ota 2.2 version .28 odex, use universal zip.

I guess I'll try the CM version..
Thanks for the heads up on this, my dad just got an Iphone 4 and i was comparing the two displays by playing the same video on both, and noticed that my epson screen has quite a blue hue. He wouldn't stop poking fun at my Evo...until today! Played around with this and got it to be quite a bit more accurate, no more smack talking from him now haha.

You flash the zip file just like you would anything else-- there's really not much to it.
You don't mention what ROM/Kernel you are running... that might help.

Guess it doesn't work with netarchy's 4.1.9.1cfs kernel, because I am experiencing the exact same symptoms and am using the same ROM as you. I was beginning to think it was ROM related. What kernel did you end up using?

I am currently using:
red 972
green 918
blue: 783
Although what you use will all be personal preference... the big thing is pushing the blue down as it is quite overpowered.

Yes i'm assuming its a kernel related problem not a rom problem... Im using this kernel it works pretty good and I'm using the bfs one awesome speed in quadrant hitting 1400's

If you stick with 1000s for all 3 values, you might as well as not have the APK installed at all, IMO.
The settings you want to use may vary slightly based on your current lighting conditions and the brightness. On my settings, the screen is tiny, tiny bit dimmer-- but that is only because the blacks and greys become true blacks and greys and not dark purple and lilac. At the bare minimu, leave your red and green at 1000 and push the blue down until your greys are true greys....
i have tried out tons of roms but for now only the leedroid one gives custom LED notification light colours (blue, purple, etc.). does anyone know how to get other LED colours in other roms?
thanks!
I am fairly sure there is an LED hack in the Android Market that lets you set up the LED for different colours no matter what ROM you are using.
If it is for messages, I use Handcent SMS and I can pick the LED colours for notifications using that. There is some info on this LED hack in the Desire Development section of the XDA forum as that is where I first saw it appear, so what you want does in fact exist. Hit up a quick search in that forum and you'll find it. I will try and find it myself once again to see if I can help you further.

There is an app in the market called LED me know BETA which does exactly that.
I didn't experiment much with other ROMs, but I'm sure that MIUI (I don't know since when) has that built in.
Hmm...I'm using the InsertCoin-Rom several weeks now...well, finally since I rooted and s-offed my Desire Since then (and of course before) I always have all LED-Colours showing like that:
Charging: orange
Fullcharged: green
Emptybattery: red
SMS: blue
I'm using HandcentSMS and since today the blue sms-led doesn't light when I receive sms. All the other LEDs are still working. Already re-installed HandcentSMS cause I read about possible combatibility-problems between InsertCoin and Handcent....but still no blue LED Any tips? THX!
thanks all for replies.
i've tried LED me know for cool's roms (cool sensation, bravos, to name a few) but it didn't work at all, i.e. the LED is still only orange and green
i didn't use handcent but i believe it works pretty much the same as GoSMSPro in which i can't customise the LED notification as well (can't change blinking time / colour)
maybe i should try a more time with the newest roms?

Thx Well, I'm really pretty happy with InsertCoin...I've tried Coolexe, Leedroid, Ace...but I think IC is the best of all of them. Smooth, fast!!! I was wondering if there was a fix for the glass lock on eco5 rom for the notification when you get a text it says missed call. I'm on sfr 1.2, eh17 modem, genocide 2.0 kernal with no theme. Thanx
Known bug/wow oversight with SRF 1.2.
My guess is no, not without diving into code. SRF 1.2 had the lock mod integrated in, so I would bet trying to flash that mod separately would break things.
You can always try:
* A new rom.
* If you stay with SRF, then try a different messaging app, like GoSMS. That way you can disable stock text notices. Missed phone calls will still show as ACS. (It's a stupid bug that they should've patched the day of or after release.)

It is in the code KSmullins and I fixed it in our ReVolt Rom. I haven't been on that ROM in quit some time but last I knew it still worked.
Fixed this awhile ago for my theme templete. But not too many themers use my templete as a base. Greenmuggys themes and mine I know are based on the templete and have the fix.

All I really want is to change the green system color to blue (or purple or pink lol). I hate that android green color. Would be nice to have a transparent notification dropdown too.
I love the icons in the power button menu and in the settings and that is my problem. Most themes are like super themes that change everything. I really just want to change the green stuff like the download bar, highlights in the extended notification...and so on.
Maybe this can be a challenge for someone. LOL I will keep hoping.

Apparently, most of the current themes out there work on UnNamed.

You will loose most of the UnNamed custom edits if you flash any of the themes out there. None of them are made especially for UnNamed. Check the UnNamed Goodies thread in themes and apps for a few things you may like.
Like playya said... I have found that most of all the themes work. Sometimes causing modificaions of the rom itself... I WAS using Unnamed with a combination of the ICS theme made for Blazer and some add on made for another rom.. All worked fine. But i got tired of all the "blue" color, so i flashed back to regular unnamed with rogue " gunslinger "... Nice colors.. Great batt life and 5000+ quadrent score @1400-200 LAZY...

Eh, still kinda confused. I went to the themes section in the E4GT section. I see themes, but a lot of them say they work only on some specific roms. Should I still try them and see if they work? I'm worried about messing up my phone. :/
Okay, so I just themed my phone. Once it restarted, it said I had an update...so I restarted it like it told me to do. But the little android guy with the triangle and ! mark in the triangle came up....
what gives?
please help if no one is too busy :/

You are on a custom ROM, and Sprint was unable to update your phone because of that. Not that you want to update the stock ROM considering you installed a custom ROM in the 1st place...

Honestly every theme out there will work as long as it's not for a source the too different from yours (eg. EK02 rom using and EL29 theme). The worst that can happen with some themes, especially with UnNamed's rom, is that you'll lose certain functionalities. For instance, using suwu10's red or blue themes will cause you to lose the scrolling toggles in the drop down notification bar.
Other than that everything will be pretty much the same. Keep in mind that it will replace your rom's apk's with the themed apk's from whatever rom that theme was built for. So if you like say, the mms app from UnNamed, you'll want to delete it out of the theme's .zip before flashing.
Hello!
My name is KJT (on the net) and I have a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy SIII t999. When it came to me it had stock 4.0.4 Android. First thing I did was Root/CWM recovery it so that I could Wi-Fi Tether and have a custom recovery.. I found nothing wrong with the phone and it did everything I needed it to and more! At the time I wasn't willing to customize my firmware because I didn't really care.. Two(almost 3) years passed by and so much has changed in the modding community. So I checked on faster ROM's for my device and found so many to pick from! I didn't know what to pick.. I tried a couple of ROM's, but I found myself going back to SlimKat 4.4.2.build.3-OFFICAL-3061 and WOW was I surprised at how the look and feel made my phone like new again.. I now say to my friends that I upgraded my S3 into the S4.. Not really, but its "like" I did, with a software update. Heheh..
Anyways back to my device.. After updating to SlimKat I found some things a little weird with my phone, but nothing I couldn't figure out (except one thing that I will get into a little later). There was a couple things screwy with it and I had to research for a couple of days to find the answers. After fixing the small issues I wanted to fix the CPU issues and why it would throttle when I played a game longer then 5mins.. I found the option and disabled it, but it seemed to drain my battery way faster with it off. I then looked at new kernels for my phone and what would work good for battery and for performance. I found KTweaker and realized that installing SlimKat changed my model number to Samsung-SGH-I747. So I installed the Kernal (3.4.82-cyanogenmod-g9a7e2a6 [email protected] #1 Sun Mar 9 16:16:31 MST 2014). It seemed to work really well, but I see the LED blinking Blue on bootup(and stay blinking) every time I restart my phone now after installing this Kernal. So I tricked the LED to turn off by using Light Manager's test notification option. Once I turn on test and then shut screen off, the LED turns to the color I was testing in Light Manager and the LED turns off.. So that is the trick, but if there is anyone that can help me understand or fix the Blue LED that stays blinking after boot up, I would really appreciate it. I have no other apps that control notifications, and I have tried turning off all LED options, but nothing seems to work. The only thing I can do is trick the LED..
So after that, I decided I would try and find another Kernel/Tweaks, but after flashing Xtweak it seems to be running a bit smoother. I am stuck no with only one issue and that is the Blue LED flashing at boot and staying on until I trick it. KTweak app (Not XTweak) that is listed in the menu had some crazy OC settings and profiles. Now I think I am set with my CPU issues. I played my game Order and Chaos Online(GAME PLAY) for 4 hours yesterday with no lag and the CPU never throttled.
So my only problem is the Blue LED at boot.. I hope to figure it out and I will report back if I find the solution. Thanks for reading.
------------------------------------------
::UPDATE:: March 01-06, 2014...
------------------------------------------
First off the LED blue light has been fixed with a format of the internal memory and flashing a new rom. I believe the problem was with Slimkat ROM and Ktoons kernel on build 3.
I have SlimKat Build 4 now after some internal data lose(system/data/cache and most of my personal data from the last month... lol). I recommend not trying to fix your phone at 3:am and tired.. I had a back up from last month, but I know I lost a lot of other stuff I can't remember, but I think it was a good thing, because my phone is now running faster and with a lot more space on the internal hdd. So I guess I did a system restore with updating to Build 4. I am really enjoying build 4 and haven't come across any problems. I have not installed KToons kernel yet, but he has updated it and I will try it out when I have more time. I will update later. Thanks for reading..

I do need the notifications turned on, but when ever I restart my phone the blue LED light(top left cover on face of device) continues to stay pulsing way past boot. I use to see it only pulse a few times at boot and then it would stop and load the OS. It only started happening right after I flashed the KToon kernel. I love the kernel and it make my device so much better then it was before with the SlimKat kernel.
I also have tried many different steps to stop the pulse at start up, but only found that if I trick it and put on another LED notification, then it stops after I make it change to the other notification.. Its almost like it gets stuck on the notification for boot up. I uninstalled all apps and also reformatted.. I was thinking of another kernel install, but have not found a better kernel(even with this issue) then KToons..

Yup, i've been flashing on Galaxy's since the S2. After the S2, Samsung released identical hardware for all carriers, including the international edition. The only software you had to worry about is recoveries, Baseband, and if on T Mobile, the TW version if you wanted Wifi calling.

Still trying to figure out the Blue LED at boot....
UPDATE!!!
Ok, so I found out that it was the Ktoons kernel that was giving the notification Blue LED at start and wouldn't go away. I guess it was set to notify at start, but then never turned off. This is now fixed because of a flash to the new build 4 of slimkat.
So the issues that I was having before with the LED was only because of the kernel I flashed on a slimkat rom. It worked great, but had the LED issue.
::UPDATE::
Ok, now to talk about my new updated build 4 slimkat device.
