I tried searching for this...
I set my phone to use google contacts and sim contacts. Then I used the productivity lockscreen. this is when I noticed the birthdays are duplicated.
anybody else experience or solve this issue?
In contacts, merge with phone/other, then de duplicate if any. Now check a few of your contacts and see if the birthday duplicates. It's because your Google contacts and your imported ones both had saved info for birthdays.

Just did. No duplicate contacts and no duplicate birthdays. I will try checking from a browser.

Edit:
@orb3000 sorry for posting on the wrong thread.
I found a solution. I cleared data for people, calendar and calendar storage. now the double entries are gone.

Those are facebook or twitter or something...unsync those and assuming all the rest are on google and not your phone you will be able to delete all contacts and sync your Google. This will remove all read only contacts. If you just don't want them listed I believe you can hide them.

i am pretty sure i have fb un synced, but i do have the google contacts, i still c some numbers from my fb when i do a search, i would like 2 get them out also, however they dont show up in my contacts if this makes sense
I know Facebook fell out with Google about data sharing and stuff.
But I thought currently that only affected Nexus S.. (and new handsets after that).
Just noticed that my desire (currently running 2.3.3) can't sync the facebook calender like it could before on 2.2...
Anyone know if that's by design now?
I would have liked the birthday information coming across even though I rarely use FB.
I guess if I can't get it across I'll export and import it into my google calender... but it was nice to have!
cheers
Hmmm
Extract Facebook events and upload to Google Calender

that's exactly what I was thinking was my last resort.
Not that I can say the FB -> Android calender was any good - I had loads of issues with birthdays duplicating and not showing up, and some showing up from people I had defriended... but it saved me from exporting and importing!
just wondered if any updates to GB was kicking off this 'service' nowadays
there's a nice looking guide here: http://androidforums.com/incredible-tips-tricks/83350-how-sync-contacts-birthdays-calendar.html
Okay, I noticed something weird last night.
When I send an email from my HOX using HTC mail client IMAPped to GMail, two copies of the sent mail appear in GMail on my laptop.
This was confusing me because in threads it looked like I'd sent two copies of the same email.
I've tested it, and I am not sending two mails, but it looks like I am saving two copies of the emails in my GMail account.
I've had a look on Google to see how to fix this, and there is mention of unticking a 'Save Sent Email' option - but I can't find that on the HOX.
Has anyone also noted this 'feature', and has anyone been able to remove it?
TIA.
Unfortunately the HTC mail app doesn't play nice with Gmail. If you log into your Gmail account through a browser, you will notice three new labels. I think they are [IMAP]Sent, [IMAP]Trash and [IMAP]Drafts. Instead of saving sent messages in the normal sent folder, the HTC app saves them in the [IMAP]Sent folder. Gmail then saves another copy in its own Sent folder. I think the only way around this is to use the Gmail app.

Thanks Pats Fan!
I don't know if you found an answer, but I was able to fix it by going to the desktop Gmail settings, "Labels" tab > then check the "Show in IMAP" for Sent mail, Drafts & Trash. Then removed the unwanted Labels (IMAP/Trash, IMAP/Sent & IMAP/Draft).
Hello everyone... I apologize if this is a repost, but can't seem to find it.
My wife has an Galaxy S3, I have an One X. all of our accounts are synced and linked. (Facebook, Whatsapp, Gmail, etc) our problem is that in my ONE X in the people app I can't see her Updates nor can I see her Gallery from FB. I can se other peoples updates and gallery, and on her side, on the S3 contacts, she only sees my update from Google Talk, which we dont use at all, and cant seem to change it to any other account.
we both come from iPhones and this is a little frustrating having so many options now in android and not being able to use them right....
anyone having similar issues?
thanks beforehand ....
yes yes yes... I am a noob.....

A couple of things.
First, go in to "Settings>Accounts & sync" and make sure FB, Twitter, and LinkedIn are all set up to sync and that their settings are correct. Within each of them you should have choices about what to sync. For Twitter and LinkedIn there should be two of each of them. One for the standard app and one for HTC Sense that's used to keep the FriendStream updated. The LinkedIn connector for Sense isn’t installed by default. Go to “HTC Hub>Applications>Categories A~Z>HTC Essentials” and you’ll find it there.
Next, go in to "People" and at the top of your contact list there should be a "Notification" bar. Sense does a background scan looking for similar contacts that should be potentially linked (EG: phone, Twitter, FB). Go through that list and link or ignore the recommendations.
Lastly, go to "People>Manage contacts.
Go through "Merge Contacts" and consolidate any shown. If you have contacts that Sense doesn't recognize as similar you can also manually merge them to the correct contact so you don't have multiples for a single person. You should also run "De-duplicate." If you long press on a contact it will give you options to manage it also. This seems cumbersome and I had to stumble upon it at first but it works pretty well at keeping your contacts linked properly and current.
Thanks for the reply.
All of this is done. The problem comes when I go into a specific contact. I can see the linked accounts under the specific contact and on the bottom it shows tabs for Detail Thread Updates Gallery.
Under updates we should be able to see the updates from social accounts, like Facebook. Which I can see from other contacts, under gallery O should be able to see the photo gallery from my wife's Facebook account as well. The thing is nothing comes up. Only a message saying no updates or events and no albums when trying to access the gallery

check your settings on the facebook websites for what you want to see and for which you want to be notified and also delete sense from the allowed apps and retry again
Go to settings>apps>people>and erase data and force stop, it could help.

When I go there I see 3 People Apps. One has 348 kb the second one only 8 kb and the third one 0.0. Why would I have 3? Is it normal?

Anyone knows how to change phone (unsync) contacts into Google contacts without creating new ones on CM7? I am really bored to do that for all my contacts.

not exactly sure if I understand you right do you mean contacts from a different phone which cannot sync with Google? If so: can you get an internet connection with the other phone? Because a lot of (non-android) phones can sync with Google contacts, too.
If you can't do that, I'd guess export and import into Google would be the best bet. Google supports a lot of formats to do so - csv, outlook specific csv and vcard - details here: https://support.google.com/mail/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=14024
What phone is it exactly?

now I seem to be really confused lol: if you want to make contacts of your phone Google contacts you have to *sync* then instead of unsync - what am I missing?

From what I understand, he saved his contacts as phone contacts rather than google contacts. So these phone contacts wont sync with google.

Well, there are only two three conditions this could happen: 1) if someone not in your contacts calls you and you don't add him to your contacts (but that's only a phone number then), 2) if the contacts are on your SIM only (to be honest I'm just assuming so - haven't tested), 3) if you disable syncing or are not logged into your Google account - right - or am I still missing something?
On cm7 when you add a new contact, it used to ask whether to save it as google or phone contact.

Ah, I see - too bad, seems I haven't added any contacts manually when I used CM7 (I use Google apps on the PC for a long time now - usually I do the contact entries there...)
Thx for enlightment (and if this is the case exporting and import to Google contacts should be the way to go).
