Hi, im looking to buy a samsung mhl adapter however my tv only has rca connect, if i buy a hdmi to rca cable will the video still display on my tv.. i.e hdmi goes into mhl adapter and rca goes into tv... Thankyou
No, it wont work..if its just a simple adapter. Via HDMI or DVI... you get a digital signal. RCA or VGA...ect. you get a analog signal. It's not compatible to each other, except you connect a hdmi/rca converter between the two cables. Simple adapter from china just won't work..
You need a converter -- HDMI is a digital signal, whereas composite video (the single yellow RCA cable) or component video (red/green/blue RCA cables) are analog.
Something like this one from Monoprice will do the trick. eBay and Amazon also carry devices like this, in the same price range.
Thanks alot guys i will be buying a converter...
Hopefully you're aware that the video quality from composite will be quite poor.
Presumably if your TV doesn't have HDMI or VGA connectors then it's probably still a CRT screen?
Hi,
I just bought the Monoprice micro usb to HDMI MHL adapter for my SGS2.
When I directly connect to my TV, it is working, but my tv sound sucks so I want to take advantage of my home theatre system instead.
I have a Sony BDV-N990W with an ARC (audio reverse channel) hdmi + 2 regular hdmi inputs. I plugged the hdmi to the mhl adapter that is connected to the Sony hdmi input. All is doing is hdmi connected/hdmi disconnected literally every seconds.
I reboot my phone, changed to 2 other hdmi cables I have, changed hdmi ports; still the same result...
Did anyone else have a similar issue? If so, any solutions or suggestions?
Hey quick question, i wanna connect my phone to a lcd computer monitor i have, I already have the samsung hdmi out cable and was thinking of getting a dvi to hdmi cable since the monitor doesnt support hdmi. My problem is that dvi doesnt support audio. so, are there any cheap dvi to hdmi cables that have an audio out? or is there some way of letting the phone output video over hdmi and sending the audio through the headphone slot like normal?
Hello. I just received my mhl - hdmi adaptor and it s great. The fact that i have to plug in the charger into the adaptor restricts my movement around the TV. I want to know if i can stream from my galaxy to the TV without having to do that. I wonder if it s possible just to plug the hdmi into the adaptor and then the phone into the adaptor. Thanks !

It's just a HDMI cord. Micro HDMI to standard HDMI
As BtoGS488 said, that's an HDMI to Micro HDMI cable. It won't work with the G4.
i have this and it works great. plug it in and instantly works.

I think it may be ypur appropriate answer. The answer is given below-
S4's Micro-USB port actually doubles as an MHL-out port, letting you output HD video and 7.1 surround sound, all while charging your phone. With this wired connection you'll be tethered to your TV, but the benefit of that hard-wired connection is that you get glitch-free mirroring, since wireless mirroring can sometimes give you tinny audio and laggy video.
