Try out Blazer Rom.

I'm on the BLEND ROM and I love it, they're are tons of themes for it too, and several different versions so you can choose between the TSM mod version or standard and debloated, (TSM MOD has extra lockscreens and stuff) find it here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1385334
BLAZER is also really good, which is what I was on before, but the dev added beats to the rom and some of my songs in specific formats no longer work with it.
Calkulins is really good but lags unless you install the stock EL29 kernel or get setcpu to adjust voltage and cpu speeds. (doesn't lag for everyone, but most people it does)

I been using Blazer 4.1 since PH released it and I love it. I'm running it uv'd with Calks script, can't see another rom beating it.

I've gone through pretty much all of em. Calk is good. But I like Blazer the most. Then maybe Unnamed after that.

I prefer Calks for el29. If you want a theme try blue transfusion by dazednconfused. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1446766

Ive been on Strongsteve's Odexed Blue for a while XD. Best rom ive ever used. Super stable, fast and sexy looking

Quite honestly, you will have to try them all until you find the one you like. I like to theme mine, and there arent many for blazer, but was my favorite rom. Recently I learned how to throw my own mix into it, so i am running a little mixture of roms. As i said above, it all depends on your taste. I have tried many, many roms, and found things in all of them that i liked.

Good rom kernel and theme combo.

I just got this phone yesterday so far I'm loving it. I'm coming from the epic 4g on that I was running maurcusant's acs ics 5.5 lets do it live rom with samurai kernal and Travis shake and bake theme. Is there something similar that I can flash that will come close to that combo. Kinda miss that on my phone . But hell the stock rom on this is cool. But got spoiled by rooting.

I recommend VeNoM ROM with the desperado kernel any doubts just read my signature and look at my pic
I am running Calkulin's E4GT Rom with Steady Hawkin's Rogue 1.3.0 Kernel & EL13 Modem, and I am getting over 22+ hours of battery life on moderate usage.

ROM: Blazer ROM 3.2.1
Kernel: "Rogue" stock EL13 (Use TegraK to OC)
Theme: ICS "Extraterrestrial" 1.1
Calks ROM, rougue stock kernel, el26, sensation theme seems like the most stable combo for smoothness and battery..
Ics et theme looks sick, but not perfect yet
However there are soo many great combos that its hard to stock with one for more than a couple of days.
I have tried several different roms/themes. I would have to say Calkulin's Rom/kernel build is perfect. Probably the best one out there in my opinion! If you want a good theme on it, I would do Tiffs "Nothing But Honeycomb" theme. I like it alot.
The only thing I don't like, and this is nothing against someones theme, but I am tired of blue. I would love to see a theme that is red or green. I love Tiffs theme alot. Love the icons and everything. Just wish it was a different color. I'm on blue over kill. But since there really isn't alot of colors to choose from. Tiffs is by far the best. She did/does great work!
Venum's EL13 lean rom, with one of the stock el13 kernels has been running great for me. I'm using el26 modem/kernel with his el13 rom and its running great. The clear glass theme looks great as well. I've tried just about everything and it'd be down to:
Strongsteve's odexed rom(if you like the theme, because its pretty much set)
Calkulins rom with a stock repacked kernel(your choice, they're all good).
Or my fave, Venums rom.
Most any theme that works on calkulins will work on venums. Supposing they are based on the same release(ek02, el13 etc).
They are very similar in some regards, performance-wise I mean. They both rock.
Edit: and there's a few ICS themes in the theme section that work on both calks and venums

I've been running Sensation 2.0, nice fast ROM with no bloat. Slapped the new EL26 modem on it and call it a day.

[Q] ROM Advice, please

Just upgraded my HTC EVO today (amazing deal at Sam's Club), already rooted it and am now looking for any ROM selection advice. Calkulin's seems pretty popular but all I really want is the IMO really ugly four main icons replaced (the phone, contacts, messaging, applications, icons), and to have tethering with 4g working. Calkulin's thumbnails seem to have the same stock icons, but maybe there are skins I'm not seeing? Any advice appreciated.
Thanks.
Calkulin and UnNamed roms are both really good and stable roms. I've used both of them on a daily basis. You can theme many of these roms just check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1285 . This thread will have a lot of themes that you can choose from. Good luck and have fun
I recommend calkulins rom with the ACS ice cream sandwich theme. Here's how mine looks.
Epic-ly tapped from my Galaxy SII
Same here: Calkulin with ICS theme
Senzation or cakulin ROM + go laugher. You will have both the 4g tether and icon s to choose from. Go launcher gives you so much options for icons.

I personally like Blazer ROM the most so far. It's nice and smooth and is debloated. Plus it has No CIQ, which is something you really want to look for in a ROM, I believe Calkulin's has CIQ removed but I was only on Calkulin's for about a day and switched back to Blazer. Blazer v3.5 has an EXCELLENT stock feel to it but it has all the benefits of being a non stock ROM. I usually get about 24 hours of battery life running Blazer v3.6 (Which is ICS themed) and Tegrak to undervolt my CPU and keep it at 800MHz just like Calk's. Both Blazer ROM and Calkulin's ROM are excellent, I've just decided to stay with Blazer.
I use Blazer ROM and love it. Well I personally haven't tried Calk or unNamed but I plan on trying both. Blazer ROM though is really fast and the battery life is great. I recommend you check it out.
I suggest blazer all the way. currently using 3.5 even tho 3.7 is out the theme is better on 3.5
I personally use Calkulin's 2.8.1 stock with the gunslinger kernel flashed. Amazing battery life!
However, as has already been said, it's good to try multiple roms. It's a good way to learn about what you're doing, and to find what you like the best.
What was the Sams Club deal? if you don't mind my asking.

What modem?

can someone play rom matchmaker for me?

So I'm looking for a vanilla ics ROM. touch wiz must die!
Trim and minimal with 4g tether.
Everything works and it's stable.
I'll settle for gingerbread if I have to but I would prefer the latest and greatest.
you're probably wondering why I'm not doing my own homework and figuring this out on my own, well I should be. I would too if I wasnt working so much, and my work doesn't allow me to net surf. Lame excuse but hey I'm honest.
Can someone link me to the awesome or am I asking too much?
There are no stable ICS ROMs yet.
Any GB ROM you choose will work. And you can theme it to look exactly like ICS.
I used Blazer ROM with ACS' ICS theme. The ROM had the 4G Sprint Hotspot hack built in, and if you choose an alternate launcher you can get rid of TW - ADW EX with Kovdev's ICS theme (from the Market) works great.
Good luck.
In my experience right now the 2 best roms out are Phantom Hackers Blazer rom and StrongSteve's odexed blue. They are all great but those 2 seem to be the most stable and smoothest running on my phone. Also everything works with those 2. Miui Is nice and I am dying to try it but it still has some bugs and with my roms I need EVERYTHING to work even if I don't use a certain feature that often.
well thank you both. before i posted this thread i used calkins ics rom which eats up batter and doesnt seem to work all that well. and ill try blazer rom as soon as i figure out how to get my cwm recovery back.
weird when i have flashed roms on htc phone the recovery is usually left alone and flashed separately.
oh well.
You're better off with the stability of an official release from that has been tweaked by a dev. Leaks are flaky and usually never without something not working. I like blazer 4 with a different theme.

[Q] First time rom user, recommendations on roms that feel similiar to stock rom?

I've taken a look at a few ICS roms for the epic 4g touch, but they all seem to lean heavily towards the blue, which I assume ICS has made popular; I really don't like all the blue theming of the roms that I've seen. Are there any great ICS roms which you all recommend which stay true to the more varied and colorful feel of the stock gingerbread rom?
Just odin one of sfhubs roms. Complete stock with root added. Latest is fe14
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
You can also try any of calkulin rooms. They are pretty stable and nicely tweaked
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
If you want stability, my favorite is calkulin's 2.8.1 rom. It's a gingerbread rom but it's pretty darn stable in my opinion. I use the kernel that came with it but I use a newer modem. I found FD26 to be pretty agreeable with my phone. I'm playing with the new FE14 right now to see if it works better for me. I suggest to stay away from the ICS roms until the official final is released. I've tried different ICS roms only to go back to the good old reliable 2.8.1 EL29 from Calkulin.
Calkulins E4GT 2 ROM. 1.4 was very stable and good on battery. I haven't tried 1.5, but I'm pretty sure its good too.
Sent on HyDrA using Tapatalk 2
1.5 is awesome-comes with inverted gmail and play store apps, and is just as stable and smooth as calk's other roms...plus if you flash his bare rom converter in the same session (after the rom), it gets rid of a TON of unneeded bloatware

{Q} Any themes for calkulin 1.6 ics?

I was just wondering if there was any themes for the calkulin 1.6 ics rom. I love this rom and calkulin did an amazing job on it but the theme is so...stock touchwiz..which i was never crazy about..I would love even the calkulin rom with the stock ics theme. If there are forums on this already I'm sorry. It's kind of hard to find exactly what you are looking for. If anyone knows of any theme please point me the right way. Thank You.

i know people love calks roms but since he's not here anymore (as in on this phone, not xda in general...) I might suggest just moving to something like mijjahs goodness or blu kuban... those roms are both largely de-touchwizzed and look and feel more like an AOSP rom. Both are built from ff18, as opposed to the older leaked fe22 and have tons of great built in features like rom updater, which makes it really easy to be lazy and still have tons of cool stuff... additionally they are still very much being actively supported and are gaining tons of new features now that the devs have source to play with... I know you were just looking for a theme but this would accomplish the same thing and put you on an actively updated and more current rom at the same time.... one last note if you do go this route be sure to flash one of agat63 or chris41g's safe ics kernels to flash from, or Odin back to an el rom as stock fe22 kernel can cause emmc bricks...
