Wallpaper on Home Screen?

I was under the impression we'd just be able to pick between light and dark for the homescreen. Unless my eyes are playing tricks on me, the leaked photos from MS's twitter of the LG Optimus seem to have some picture in the background of the homescreen.

Edit: Oh nm, I think it's a reflection.

1st word is definately Media. 2nd word is hard to make out...
looks like (CS)h*d**
The obvious one would be Media Center... and maybe the 2nd word is just at a funny angle. Icon seems to convey the phone wirelessly communicating with a monitor/TV.
Even though that image in the background is probably an illusion...it does look pretty good .
Damn wireless media would be awesome!

I don't have a Zune...but does anyone know if it can be a media extender, like windows 7, xbox, etc.? If it can then I can't see the phone not having the same functionality.
I was wondering the same thing.
I don't see why not.

No, it doesn't function as a media extender. And actually, Windows PC's can't even function as extenders. Only Xbox 360 and the few specific extender devices do. The Zune integration with MCE is actually rather lackluster. If a recording is protected or the audio is AC3 encoded (a lot of HD content), you can't convert it for playback on the Zune (easily at least).
That tile offers something and I want to find out exactly what it is.
It's "Media Sharing"...I'd guess the DLNA feature that's been making the rounds lately.

[App] Around Sound - Have your phone listen for you while you enjoy music or movies

This was my first app and recently just overhauled it with a lot of the updates I had been doing to Wave Control. I've gotten great feedback from XDA members on Wave Control, so I'd like to see what you all think of this one.
Update (10/11/2012): Half of proceeds from app sales from October will be donated to Breast Cancer Research
More Info Here
Around Sound allows you to listen to music, watch movies, or play games and still be aware of your surroundings. It's meant for when you're using sound isolating earbuds like Shure or others that are basically earplugs so you have no idea what's going on around you.
It uses the mic on your headset or phone to listen around you. You set how loud a noise needs to be to trigger it. When a loud sound is detected, it pauses your music or movie for a timeout period. During this time, it feeds the outside sound through to your headphones so you can hear what's going on. After the timeout period it then resumes playback.
With games, you can use the non-pause mode which will overlay the outside sounds on top of the current audio. Usually the game audio will lower itself during this time. I would really like for games to support the pause feature. I've reached out to some developers but need everyone's help to request the feature be added to their favorite games.
Play Store Links:
Free Version
Pro Version
Some known issues:
1. Audio lag - when the outside sound is fed through there's about a 500ms delay. It's a known issue with Android. It's rumored to have been fixed in Jelly Bean (or there's some low level API's available to fix it) but I haven't had a chance to play with it yet.
2. Bluetooth Mic Option - Currently only works with mono headsets and not the AD2P kind
Some use cases:
- At the office: pause your music automatically when someone is trying to get your attention
- At home: Don't miss door slams, children crying, your dog barking, or other warning signs

- At the airport: Relax at the gate and have your music or movie pause when the gate announcements start

- Anywhere relatively quiet where you want to know if something happens around you
Permissions Needed:
Network Communications: Full Internet Access (For Ad Supported Version)
Phone Calls: Read Phone status (shuts off the audio processing during calls)
Hardware Controls: Audio Settings, Record Audio (to use the microphone, no audio is ever stored)
Coarse Location(Not GPS): For Ad Supported Version
Write External Storage: For Ad Supported Version
Billing: For in app upgrades
Bluetooth: For Bluetooth mic feature
Broadcast Sticky: For Bluetooth mic feature
Limitations:

-Needs Froyo or Above (Android version 2.2+)
-For Pause Music Mode: You can't be in a really loud environment otherwise the microphone input will be maxed out and there is no way to detect a louder sound. Use Street Mode instead
Coming Soon:
Timeout period Adjustment
Volume control of mic feed during timeout
Developed on a Samsung Galaxy SIII

It will use whatever the available mic is. If there's only the one on the phone it'll use that one. If there's one of the headset then it'll use that one instead.
I have on todo list to put the option to force use of the phone's mic even if there's one on the headset.
Awesome in tat case ill download it now and have a go
Great idea! Thank you so much!

I assume my headset is the A2DP kind, it's a stereo bluetooth headset. I haven't had much luck with any application being able to use my bluetooth mic. I've tried other headsets but they were all stereo bluetooth. I'm using a nexus 7. Is this a planned upcoming feature? Is there a underlying reason why so few apps (any?) seem to support this?

I'm actually getting mixed feedback. Apparently it does work on some phone/headset combos. The way it behaves seems more like a bug in Android than an issue with headsets. I've heard Bluetooth is one area phone manufacturers sometimes tweak so maybe that's what's going on here. I need to get more data to really be sure.
I'd say give it a shot and see if it does work. Maybe Jelly Bean handle BT better.

Ok thanks. Hmm, I just installed it but didn't realize it's a pro feature. Not that I wouldn't buy it, but I wanted to use it with a stereo bluetooth headset, and going by so far with my experience with bluetooth recording in general with jellybean (as in nothing working so far with 4 different headsets) so I suspect it probably wouldn't have worked.
I suspect as well it's an android issue.
New Angle
So after un-intentionally (really, I swear!) ignoring my girlfriend while playing a game, I realized... I could use Around Sound with games.
So far the non-pause mode works pretty well with the games I play. I'm reaching out to some other developers to include the ability to pause when asked by Around Sound.
I need people's help to request their favorite game dev's to support auto-pause with Around Sound

Great work! Really good thinking mate
I spend 80% time in my office on music and this would definitely help :good:
Just installed it. will test for couple of days and go for pro version, Keep on innovating
October Experiment
Been taking a break from development... though not really by choice.
From my dev blog:
I just got home after a 10 day stay in the hospital for an unexpected (but luckily) minor surgery. Medicine and disease have unsurprisingly been on my mind.
I want to contribute to fields that really help people. But, I’m no doctor or medical researcher. I’m an app developer making apps that I hope people find useful but are hardly life changing. So, how to reconcile these things?
To fill the days during my hospital stay, I began to read Walter Isaacson’s excellent Ben Franklin Biography. (Recommended from here) In it, I was inspired by Franklin’s effort to tie private enterprise with the public good. Creating a win/win situation where both benefited.
And so, the idea was born to give away half of the proceeds from my app sales. This month being Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a perfect time to start. For the month of October, 50% of my earnings from the sales of my apps (including in app purchases) will be donated to breast cancer research.
I hope this will start a trend and other developers will do similar offers.
This is an experiment for this month. If it proves successful and I can still afford to eat, then next month can feature a different cause to support.
I’m excited to finally be able to give back more and make app development have a meaningful impact. This truly gives me real motivation to keep innovating and working hard.
Ideas and comments are most welcome,
Mark
Can you guys help me spread the word about this? Maybe we can change the economics of app development and charity.

Must have APPS for WEAR on Sony SWR50

I want to make a list with nice apps for our Sony Smartwatch 3.

Need to have this one for starting apps the easy way. Also handy for finding your phone and quickly change watch brightness.
Runkeeper
Run Sports Tracker, compatible with Google Fit
Task Manager
See whats happening and force close apps..
Wear Battery Stats
Wear Battery Stats, monitor your Android Wear device battery life and when an app is installed, updated or uninstalled.
Evernote for Android Wear
Take notes and sync them with your computer
Flashlight for Wear
Sort of light..

Very nice calendar app! Add appointment with keyboard or voice. Change time of appointments and more.
Facer (PAID)
Nice app to make watchfaces, many free watchfaces available (including mine!) Another similar app is called "Watchmaker"..
Sony Walkman App
Musicplayer compatible to sync music offline to the watch.
tinyCam Monitor Pro (PAID)
Lets you "send" a camera feed to your watch so you can watch it there.
Ghostracer Beta
Very nice running app for standalone watch support. Use Bluetooth smart HRM monitors and listen to music with the Walkman app at the same time.. Many features and upload possibilities to Strava and other running apps (in future). Join this LINK for BETA.
PixtoCam
Camera remote tool. Kinda handy for making stop motion video's with your phone!
Hue Control
For now a good app to control the Philips Hue lamps from the watch.
Sony TrackID
Track the name of a song with the watch's mic.
GAMES:
Sheep Shield
Funny game for a couple minutes..
Birdy Wear
Another Flappy Bird rip off.

I have not used this app very long, but it has worked great so far to allow me to easily lower the brightness below the normal settings. This will be great at night. I went ahead and purchased it for a dollar from the play store to support the developer, but the developer is offering it for a free trial right now thru 12/21/14.

Thanks! I like the idea but at my watch it looks like a black/brown layer on top instead of adjusting the brightness. For example with "wear mini launcher" you can adjust the brightness below the normal settings. Only thing is when screen turns off and on again, brightness setting is to default again... <br />
Your app holds its settings, so that's a good workaround for now.<br/>
Check this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pixtogram.wear.zicam. For me is the best taking photos on Sony SW3
Does anyone know how to activate the Android Wear channel in ITTT? I can't seem to figure it out, tried opening ITTT on the watch, tells me to use the phone and then the phone has no obvious place to enable it (well other than the activate android wear channel--but that doesn't work haha)
Does anyone know how to make a negative watch face when the watch is "resting"? What I mean is, when the watch goes into rest mode and you see the e-ink display of the watch face, it would be nice to have that in a negative tone. You'd be able to see it better.
I use Facer and have different displays depending on whether the watch is active or idle. Active has full digital information, idle just shows hands. I assume something like what you are after may be possible.
Just to add;
Ghostracer Beta (GPS, Bluetooth HRM support, Syncs with Strava and all others that sync with Strava (my fitness pal, runkeeper etc.)) -- Works by itself! No phone required.
Walkman App beta (Lets you transfer Mp3s to your device that aren't through Play Music. Does it via Playlists rather than "everything" like Google Play Music.) -- Listen directly from your watch to bluetooth headsets! Great for listening with leaving your phone at home on runs/walks.
Tinycam Monitor (PRO) -- Paid -- Lets you "send" a camera feed to your watch so you can watch it there.
Wear Calendar -- I like this calendar above the rest currently out there
At work -- Useful time keeping wear app to check in and out of work to manage your timecard
Flopsy Droid -- Flappy bird rip off because why not??? This app actually makes a lot of sense for a wear device.

I have used Facer for this with my home made Casio watchface ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2956934
Watchface for Facer, Casio White ). I prefer the new white, with digital big clock in ambient mode...
At the moment I'm trying the "Watchmaker" app with the same Casio face. It has more options to tweak...
Will update this section soon with all of our new "must have apps"..
I'm really enjoying the Walkman app that imnoob55 mentioned in his post above. I found it at this link ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2728110 ) and it's working flawlessly on my Note 2 paired with my Sony Smartwatch 3.

Is somebody using Watchmaker ? I can't get it to work properly, it seems that there is some sort of lag with the minute while in ambient mode. Facer is working fine but Watchmaker has weather icons out of the box.

What apps do you use most on your tablet for media consumption and productivity?

I am not a fan of mobile games so could someone suggest me some good apps that I should download?
Plex is superb.
OneNote is a must.
Tapatalk and Relay are very good.
Google music for my music necessities.
Carcassonne is one of my favorite games if you're interested in trying a new one.

Why would ya cast netlfix to Chromecast that's so dumb when it can directly play from that or TV.
Read draw on PDFs already tab s3 comes with Adobe and with write capabilities

The Netflix app has a cast button which loads Netflix on the Chromecast then using the phone/tablet you select what you wanna watch, so in a sense the Android app is like a remote for the Chromecast. Kinda dumb why you would judge without knowing what your talking about. Also my tab didn't come with Adobe. Sorry i don't do things like you.

Sorry to see you are so far behind in the world.
I guess you don't got a smart TV then. Android TV? Voice control?
It's not like YouTube to TV so that sucks for you.
Going through all that trouble.
You know, what you're doing there is actually a setting u can call it a trick but I don't know if I wanna tell you.
And honestly since ya don't got a HDR TV I suppose it's better to watch on tab itself ...
Well about Adobe, man I give up. Some people just don't apply logic. You must be one of those older generation or some rich dude who doesn't spend or just some retard.
Then again I'm a Mensan so I won't judge. You live your tier 3 life man, AI is what's happening in case you missed it.
And by the way, I absolutely know what you're talking of would have been better to buy a compute stick instead of Chromecast coz google really rapeyd ya on that one.
Lol
And Netflix is so 2010 nowadays a psarip will do.
Amazon people don't rip much.
Also I'm just paying 7 USD per year for it.
I tried Nextflix too and I paid for a month as well.
Not worth plus the internet it sucks it's better to just torrent from uni

We have the usual.
TV apps
Games
S Pen apps (drawing, games & colouring)
Communication & News
If you want names, lemme know.
Stock Samsung Notes app for taking notes using S Pen features.
Enable 'Video Enhancement' hidden setting menu so you can enjoy HDR content using: MX Player HD & HD+ modes, Samsung Video Player, YouTube Vanced with enforced HDR.
Flud as a torrent download mgr.
Smart View for casting content to smart TV.
Microsoft 365 Word, Excel, PP, and OneNote for productivity
WPS Office for PDFs.
Microsoft exFAT/NTFS enabler for USB OTG + FX file mgr.
Send Anywhere, Pushbullet, Chrome, Package disabler+.
and finally Wall of fame for amoled wallpapers.
These are all art apps. Markers is completely free..as in FOSS no ads, available to download source, modify and compile yourself (from github--playstore has compiled binary of course)etc.
The others are proprietary and...not terrible. Autodesk has made sketchbook pro for win/OSX (they're the same to me) .. totally free, not sure about sketchbook for android as I bought it years ago and cant tell if its paid or not since it's on my tablet.

Ideas for Air Gestures?

Hi Guys! Dev here, got some ideas for air gestures to integrate with different Apps, was just wondering if community has got some really cool compelling idea to implement.
I was thinking that it could be used for AR APPS as a panning tool, I study anatomy and I'm hoping apps like 3D4Medical will take advantage of the gyro sensors found in the S pen of Note 10
Great question. What's the current usage scenarios?
Tennis game
Mouse pointer in Dex Mode.
a music app where moving it up changes the pitch, then we can all have unique sounds for our signatures!
Zoom in out or in browser (like in camera app)
Might be hard but an overlay that emulates touches on apps like chrome or instagram etc.
When I was talking to my daughter about air gestures she geeked out that it could be like using a wand in Harry Potter. She said you could use the gestures in the game Harry Potter: Wizards Unite for the various functions? The ones she used as examples were "Lumos" which would turn on the flashlight, "Avada Kedavra" to turn off the phone or "Alohomora" to unlock it. Anyway, she was incredibly excited about the possibility of something like these working with the S-Pen. I have to imagine others would go nuts for it as well. As to what gestures to associate with them I don't know but this may help https://www.ign.com/wikis/harry-potter-wizards-unite/Spell_List
Other than that, think of common tasks that are in a variety of apps (copy, paste, open, close, play, pause, skip) and create gestures for those to start with. They will by far be the most used and useful.
Using air gestures on Instagram might be a cool feature to have.
Air Gesture was invented for Tinder.
air gestures has been there for a long time. gear vr controller is one of them.
