Anyone having issues with CM9 not playing .wma files? They're much smaller than MP3s, so that's the only way all my music fits on my phone. But the player doesn't find them and won't play them from a file browser either.
So does CM9 not support .wma files at all, or what is going on here? Anyone know how to fix it or a workaround for me?

I Like the CM7 music player over stock, as it sounds better with DSP.
However it is limited with features.
I noticed one problem, it plays all my music files. including the samsung tones and music files.
I can't figure a way to make it ignore it, i don't fancy deleting them at all
anyone have any ideas?
Hey guys I've had the CM9 ROM for a couple of weeks now and am only now realizing that some of my music isn't being recognized. I know the songs exist in my SD card because I can easily find them with ES File Explorer, but it isn't being discovered by ANY music program. ES File Explorer also can't play them and when I check what kind of files the music is, they're anything but MP3 format files.
Is this a common CM9 problem? Does CM9 not have .wav and .wma file codecs?
And any solution? Thanks guys!

Try a different player that allows the format to beplayed. I have CM7 and use QQ player to play avi files
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
I heard that Android stopped natively supporting WAV files at Microsoft request a while ago, could that be it? And thanks, I'll try it
I just recently loaded CM9 and I also am finding that I can no longer play .wma files. Under HC, I used winamp and it played .wma files, but winamp does not under CM9. I tried a couple of different players and poweramp plays .wma files and so I don't think it is a codec in CM9 issue. Problem with poweramp is you eventually need to pay for it
Playing wma codecs
Use VLC. It works well even with WMA files.
Hi everyone
Recently I flashed CM7 and everything works great exept for playing music. Whenever I play music the phone doesn't let me unlock the lockscreen. The lockscreen comes up, but it doesn't respond to my touching. I've used different music player but that doesn't help. The lockscreen gets frozen.
Im using CM7 with as music player PowerAMP (tweaking the audio didn't help either). I also use Launcher Pro.
Maybe the standard music player from CM7 works better, but I unistalled it..... does anyone know where to find the .apk for that music player?
Another problem is that the time and date always jump back to 01-01-1980 and 12:00. Anyone has a solution for this?
I hope you could help me

I think the problem is that you uninstall the stock music player.
You can find that apk file from the CM7 zip file which is the whole ROM you have flashed in recovery.
Open the zip and go to /system/app/Music.apk that's the apk
Somehow that apk file isn't in the system/app folder. But I'll look into the .zip file on my computer, maybe it's in there.
Thanks anyway

Hi,
Does anyone use N7 Player as a default music player?
If so, I was wondering if anyone knows how to display music that do not yet have an album tag filled in for the mp3 file..
I do not want to, and I do not plan on using any album tag downloading apps. (And also, these apps probably won't even help me because 99% of my songs are not English songs)
I am going through this exercise manually to ensure all my music files have 100% accurate album names, but until then, I still want to be able to see all my music in N7 Player... Any pro tips?
Also, another thing I want to ask is, whenever I add an album art to an mp3 file, I cannot seem to have the music player (ANY music player, not just N7) to show the updated album art... The only way I know how to refresh the album art is to reboot my phone, insert my music files, and then reboot again. (Even then, sometimes this doesn't work..)
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Hi, I dont know if anyone else is facing this same issue. The music player seems to recognize all media files including video mp4 files, it happens on stock rom and also on custom roms i ran. It also includes other junk files like ringtones and so on. is there any way to limit the music player to recognize only valid mp3 files or play files only from a certain folder? ive also downloaded a few music players like Apollo and playerpro and they are also facing the same issue. Thanks for your help

your Music Player will show every playable file in your phone.
atleast I don't know If there is anyway to limit music player to only show mp3 files..
The Alternate way I can suggest u that
place all unwanted ringtones in a folder and create a file
Named as ".nomedia"(without quotes) in the same folder.
This can tell the music player that the folder having ringtones have no playable files in it.
And the player will not show these ringtones.
u can do the same for mp4 files.
