UPDATE BELOW
So here I am sitting here on the verge of a fit that would not be good to have at work.
I went to my friends last night (a pro at android phones) and was hanging out with him. I brought up the fact that I have been having REAL BAD battery life. So he takes my phone and looks at it running some tests. He proceeds to look up at me and states " you better call t mobile and get them to send you another phone." *swears like a raving loony* This is after running the battery dead and leaving it on the charger for 8 hours to condition the battery. When he said that to me by the way he explained that my phone is searching for a signal 55% of the time and that is what may be eating up my power. NOW, I know for a FACT that I have a 100% signal all day long... I live next to a t moe cell tower and work next to one also.... and during my commute I have 100% signal.
I guess what I am asking here is has anyone else seen this happening on their phone? I also noticed after my buddy downloaded a system monitor that the CPU is running at 100% all the time. Common sense with computers tells me BAD BAD BAD.
Why am I so upset over this you ask? Well, the service of t moe's signal and quality of the network of where I live is GREAT! However I have had BAD luck with all the phones I have since I have been with t-moe. The Rzr: sent that back about 8 times ( went and got a windows phone with my own money after that), the BB 8900: 5 times, and now all this BS with the G2 after just having it a month is getting to be a friggen P.I.M.A.
I know they are going to want to send me just the guts of the phone and not a new one.... I WANT A BRAND NEW PHONE! I am sick of referbys. It's a waste of my time and money to be driving to the [email protected] mail box to drop off the return.
HELP!!!!!!
Your loyal 911 Dispatcher.
P.S. to give you a good idea of how bad the battery is being eaten up I was at 100% this morning at 6 am. Now I am at 64% and dropping fast. So I always have to have the phone plugged in.
Update people:
Yesterday when I got home I called T moe and talked to a Retention CS. I went right to the top. The lady I spoke with was either blowing sunshine up my arse or she was telling the truth so take it as you read it here I guess.
So first thing I did was explain to her (nicely btw) of all the issues I have had in the past with all my other phones I have owned with them. Of course she did sound concerned. I also went on to tell her that if we do go to the point of sending me a replacement that I wanted a new boxed phone and none of that crap in a UPS box with stuffing.
After some conversation and questioning of my phones history she advised me that:
1. The issues that I (and others) are having are known issues and they are well aware of it and are working closely (In bed with them?) with HTC about it and should be seeing an OTA soon with a fix. ( I will believe it when I see my phone).
2. I figured since I had her on the phone and laughing that I would press the issues of the teathering rumor... Now again take this with a grain of salt if you wish but the details she told me leads me to believe that she is very up to date on what is going on. She stated that in fact they are working on developing something about charging for teathering... I didn't press the outside apps for teathering though. She stated that it would not be a contract thing and that you could activate and deactivate it as needed on your account so that you were not always paying each month for it if your not using it.
3. Battery draining issues. Solution..... Sent me a new battery via next buisness day shipping. Said I had a bad battery.... Also told me not to keep the phone plugged in since that is the fastest way to kill your battery and that I should discharge it and rechage it as needed.
So there ya go people. Again take it how you want but I hope me spending this time typing this out helps. ( my boss is paying me to type to you guys )
Your dedicated 911 Dispatcher and born again cell phone user.

Try pulling the battery off your phone for one min and then reinsert it into the phone. Was having drainage issues like you and that helped. If not try a factory reset. Who knows... that could help.

Been there, done that. No go.
I have a stun gun here at work... maybe that would help.
Then I would call tmobile...in your best interest.

Yeah I will sooner or later.... I just dont want to deal with it right now since I spent a total combined time of 4.5 hours on the phone fighting with them about my order for the G2.... I don't know how much longer I can be nice on the phone

Try going to settings, applications, manage applications, and check and see which apps are tuning in the background. If an app is piling a load of data then that could be what is killing your battery.

Already done and done..... Only the basic componants of the phone are running and a few things I am always using handcent SMS, Beuty widgets.... and batt watcher.
Did you try a factory reset and not install ANY apps. Maybe that beauty widgets is killing your battery or batt watcher. Or you may have a defective battery.
my wife phone the 1st day battery ran out real quick but maybe because she was texting to much but i use my brightness at 100% and i wak up at 9 and lasts me to like 10-11pm and about 40min of uno played
Well my wifes phone is running the same widgets and programs that I am.... I take that back shes running 3 times the ammount I am..... and her bat lasts her all day and then some...
In the beginning my phone had the same problem too..but now its way better I use to recharge my phone twice a day but not nomore..I think just wait it out..that's what I did..and my friend also just bought this phone and she's having the same problem..I think its just when there brand new it does this

just a quick update thread bump... update in my OP
I noticed this too. One day my batt lasts all day, and well into the next.
Other days (twice now) the battery, on the same setting, with the same usage,
drained obnoxiously fast!
This phone has some serious schizophrenic issues.
Battery Question:
Is the Tmobile G2 Battery 1300 mAh? ir 1400 mAh?
Only asking because I went through three G2 reviews and they all list it as 1300 mAh, however the HTC Desire Z coming here to Canada is listed as 1400 mAh... ?
Wait, how am I supposed to not keep it plugged in? I plug mine in before I go to bed and unplug it when I wake up. Am I supposed to wake up an hour and a half into every night's sleep to unplug my delicate phone? Why the hell don't they just have it stop charging the battery once it hits 100%?
I am 9 days in on my fourth G2 and until this morning i believed I had a keeper. By a pure twist of luck I did not have to get up at 5:30 am so as to arrive at the tennis courts to give lessons. Upon arising at 7:20 am I found that my battery had gone from 100% to 1% and turned itself off. The phone was in standby when I retired to bed and had not been used the entire night.. Obviously the alarm had not gone off and the phone was unusable. Upon plugging it into a charger it still would not boot up. After waiting 15 minutes and letting it charge I tried again and it did boot up and showed 60% of battery. I have never ever had a battery charge to 60% in just 15 minutes. Upon checking battery usage I found the following: Android system 27% Shop Savvy 23% voice calls 35% Display 11% phone idle 4%. I had not made a phone call and had not launched any apps. I certainly had not used Shop Savvy and the display had been off. I have noticed recently that upon waking the phone up I would be running various apps which I had not launched. I use my cell as my alarm so I cannot keep it if it is not dependable or is acting erratically. Has anyone else had this scenario happen? I have been reluctant to give up on this phone but after 4 units all with issues I guess its decision time. NOTE it just dropped 19 % in less than 3 minutes while in standby, with no apps being launched by me and the phone just sitting there in sleep mode. Just tried to access the market and no go. I am experiencing only G or E where I normally have good 3G or H. Perhaps this is T Mobile and not the phone but this happens way too much and does not occur with my Vibrant or Nexus One.

running Mango RTM:
today i changed my old sim card to a new one
the old one is a iphone 3G sim card ( smaller gold plate)
the new one ( seems bigger gold plate)
and i got this
6PM - 9PM on 50 % charge continousl surfing web on browser on 3G.
THis is something i never had even on nodo...
can someone explain?
anyway found something here which may explain it
http://forums.precentral.net/palm-pre-pre-plus/266015-micro-sim-causing-extra-battery-drain.html
seems my old sim which was used on the iphone 3G is trying to identify the HD7 as an iphone?
I'm confused...what are you asking?
How is this possible? Hd7 not supposed to last more than 3hours on full charge

I don't get it either... is this a sarcastic thread?
I don't have an HD7, but the phone I have usually lasts the entire day. Slightly less if I stream youtube for my 45 min commute to work.
I can easily do the test over Mango tomorrow.
I have HD7 with T-Mobile HSDPA.
But during the work i have done over my mango HD7, look like the HD7 has slightly more battery time after the firmware update from HTC, and also the new features / tweak from Mango.
I mean, when i was on Nodo, my Schubert usually died after about 8 hours of Light Surfing in class for research, and a little apps around it.
From 7h in the morning to 2, 2h30PM, and most of the time i could not finish my work before my phone died.
After Mango, i feel there are something really different with Nodo. School works increase by times, i do more searching stuffs on the phone than ever before, like 50% more, 3G like all the time, from IE, to Amazon Kindle, Adobe Reader... and my Schubert even last longer than Nodo Standard about 30-40 mins.
My settings almost are default, Remember Location = On, Push mail = On, Automatic Find Updates = On, Auto Update Social Network = on.
I will go out tomorrow and give a little more detail on Mango battery Juice.
Like Magpir said, it probably had more to do with switching SIM cards. Although Mango probably helped a little.
I saw the same when I switched cards. The guy who switched it out for me told me that the old cards were inefficient in staying locked on to the 3g network. My phone would continually switch between 3g and 2g which drains the battery much quicker.
I can generally get about 3.5 to 4 hours out of my Arrive over 3G and this is with streaming music. it all depends on the signal strength, if it's really strong the phonewont use any extra energy to decode the signals from the towers. if there is a weak signal or a busted tower then the phone will try its best to retain the signal and transfer data which can cause overheating and rapid battery drain. I can share my experience with this as the tower in my hometown's busted so my speeds are slow and my battery doesn't even last 2 hours in this case.
Not surprising really. Battery life on 7720.68 (HD7) improved significantly after using the built-in Connection Setup app. I saw this tip in another thread and can verify it worked on my HD7. Yesterday I went from 5:30am to 11pm on a single charge with exchange pushmail(as items arrive), wifi and bluetooth always on and 3G (Taiwan GSM), 30 minutes gps logging, 30 minutes web browsing, 60 minutes zune and 15 minutes talk time. Battery is stock and already 7-months old. MS & HTC got this one right -- I think WP7 has a very bright future. Cheers
My point is I was heavily using it, for 3 hours straight at 50% charge, surfing web and chatting on msn.
Also discovered that there is a flaw in the charging process, not sure if it's related to mango or the phone battery / hardware.
I noticed that after every full charge, I need to soft reset each time for the battery not to drain.
Anyway I tested the phone in different areas within a 5 km radius

Hmm now I wonder if my SIM card has issues. I always believed that there is something wrong with the 2g to 3g switching.
At first I believed that it is just bad code by MS.
I tested it by traveling through half of the country and the battery died in just half a day.
I have also noticed that the Samsung Network app recognized one of my SIMs as a contract when it should be a pay as you go card. (it was originally a contract card)
Might head down to vodafone to get myself a new one.
I have my hd7 with an extra battery pack which is spposely make the phone last x2 more than normal and it only makes it through 8 hours a day most time and if am lucky it makes it to 10 hours.. Anyone knows why

Change yr sim card......
interesting.. i wonder how long your battery will last.
im not sure about the HD7, but my optimus 7 comes with Li-ion batteries. the way you use ur phone is killing it.
dont get me wrong, its alright to use it that way, but the thing about li-ion batteries, once you drain it, you can never get it back to 100% charge.
Li-Ion requires frequent charging, even if its only half. NEVER NEVER let it go to dangerous levels, you may not be able to recover back to 100% charge.
search the net and search for the characteristics of li-ion batteries.
there is a popular believe among malaysians & singaporean gadget users, (not sure about people elsewhere), that it is better to drain the battery before charging (some earlier siemens phones have the option to 'drain' battery before charging). That is meant for NiMH batteries to get rid of the 'memory effect'.
Li-ion batteries does not have the memory effect.
charge your phone more frequently, especially with your usage. you will gain more from the battery..

u can drain the battery to empty but u must immediately recharge it...
an empty L-ION damages when its kept in fully discharged state at long periods of time.

i can see this few causes.
1) battery not calibrated, damaged or worn out. Have a check in the service centre,
2) old/unoptimised/ worn out / faulty sim card or APn settings ( this is the biggest culprit in smartphones). U have to change yr sim card every 2 years . this will ensure u have the newest network technologies go hand in hand with OS updates or firmware updates for yr phone . APN settings is another reason, setting the wrong apn settings could lead to battery drain.. another thing is do not use sim card meant for another phone ( example iphone 3G) and use it on wp7 phone ..
They may be configured differently work with the OS and not necessarily optimised for another phone's OS and although it may work, I have experienced his myself when i used th my older iphone 3g sim card in my wp7 phone. Result was battery drain. So always use a newer sim card when u are changing phones,
3) features like location, wifi ect., xbox live, auto upload to facebook accounts, push email...turn them off when not needed

think 2 factors increased yr battery life
connection setup - It has been updated 2 times in the marketplace, so i believe there will be some optimisations . i believe it does something more than the wp7 cellular options
push email "as items arrive" . its microsoft's newest push technology called direct push which supposedly saves battery life.. "as items arrive" is direct push technology
Mango has background tasks, push notifications and live tiles that aren't as volatile, etc.
There's a lot more going on in the background, and a lot more 3G usage going on in the background as well.
Really, it was just foolish for HTC to put a phone out with such a small battery. They had issues with the HD2's small battery (basically same phone) as well as the Evo4G and several of their other phones. They needed to put at least a 1500 mAh battery in this thing.
You can't really expect good battery life out of this phone, especially come Mango.
8 hours is pretty bad, adn that's about the most I can get in NoDo with light usage. I thought my Vibrant's battery was bad. It runs circles around this (though it's gotten more updates, so perhaps more issues were fixed).
Also, WP7 doesn't have an easily accessible GPS toggle so a lot of people (esp those on NoDo) are using phones wiht GPS enabled practically all the time. Might wanna turn that off. It will add about an hour or more to your battery life.
In either case I cannot get through a full day of below moderate to moderate use on this phone. The battery is just too small.
My mom got hte 4.3" new HTC Android on AT&T one of the 4G HSPA+ phones I forget hte name (it's similar to the Samsung so I get them confused) and she doesn't have an issue getting through a day. The battery is much bigger, though... So I blame the battery
Excuse the rambling.
And I absolutely love it. Browser is smooth as silk. YouTube and Gmail app are so slick. Loving new ui and I'm still getting used to getting efficient with navigation.
Also loving Verizon coming from tmo. Microsoft employee discount was pretty sick too. 22% off, no activation fee, $20 unlimited data and free case/screen/car charger.
Only gripe is battery but its understandable with this huge screen and heavy lte streaming.
Previous phones were g1 g2 n1 ns vibrant iPhone 3gs/3g bb9700
If u are on the fence and an android/nexus fan you wont be disappointed!

I agree. I had mine for few days now and I am impressed - it is far better than I expected it to be. Although I am very jealous of your $20 deal - I am having to pay £34 here in UK :-(
I'm on day number two; I'd been using ICS for a few weeks thanks to the NS4G developer community but it is by far a superior experience on this phone. I was concerned about the big size initially because I've tended prefer smaller-screen phones, however the look and feel of this phone is superior to any other phone that I've used.
I can't comment on battery life yet because I've had it for less than 24 hours, but I tend to find that a week or two of charge/discharge cycles is required before you really know how your phone will perform. Also, OS updates will fix some of the problems some people have reported having.
Most importantly for me, though, is that we have the flagship Android phone. It may not be the most decked-out phone hardware-wise, but when it comes to updates and support we're the cream of the crop, and that makes a douchebag like me feel warm and cozy inside.
EDIT: I am new to Verizon so I obviously am not eligible for unlimited data, but $50 a month for 10GB isn't too shabby. There's no way that I will hit 10GB (though I will probably come close some months!), but it's nice to know I am not going to be stressing checking my data usage after coming from Sprint and true unlimited service.
Ditto. Came from iPhone 4S and this phone is just amazing. I have the $20 unlimited data grandfathered thank god!
The build quality is actually very nice. Its all one piece with the battery cover being the only other extra piece. Plastic is more durable over time than aluminum and glass.
Can't wait for 4.0.3 to come. Vest part is we are getting it first! YAY!

I'm on Day 4... For me, once I was able to flash the update that adds the hidden menu buttons, I was set (too many apps I have didn't trigger the menu buttons). I love the ICS versions of the apps (especially GMail and the Exchange Email).
Since I'm in a 3G area only (and only infrequently travel to 4G markets maybe once a week), take these results with a grain of salt:
(Proviso - Since I'm in a 3G area that isn't likely to get 4G for a year or so, I set the phone to 3G only so it doesn't keep trying to find a 4G signal.. This may be why I'm having the battery life that I am having)
1st day - continuous email/gmail push and tons of GTalk messages and a lot of "screen on" time - I got about 14~15 hours of battery life.
2nd day - about the same, but with less "screen on" time - easily a day with some room to spare. I only made three phone calls about 10 minutes each, but had over 150 emails spread throughout the day with about 30 texts.
3rd day - Saturday. I unplugged it from the charge at 8 AM and it is still unplugged as of now (Sunday ~ 10AM) and I have more than half the charge.
Signal strength in my house is 1 bar. This is the same as it has been for any other verizon phone (Razr sometimes went to two bar, but it fluctuated back and forth to 1 bar). Phone calls are clear and not garbled by low signal strength.

Hey brother; I live in Floresville but work in San Antonio. LTE in the city is good, but I get nothing where I live in the midst of all the oak. Verizon is sending a team here to check my signal strength and I was told that they would likely send me a comped network extender when they see how bad it is in a supposedly strong 3G area.
Normally I wait a week also to decide on battery life, but VZW is offering 50% off their batteries for LTE devices. So you can get the extended for $25.00... I got it, figured either way, now I have an extra.
I got the extended battery as well, won't be here til Monday though. Whatever I did fixed my battery life and I was able to only drain 8-9% over the 7 hours I slept last night. This battery issue will be fixed, it's just a matter of time. It's not the phone being LTE and dual core. It's purely software.
Things I like:
- Speed/fluidity: coming from an OG Droid this is crazy how fast it is. I'd briefly used a Sprint GSII earlier in the year and this is even smoother than that in places. The browser in particular blows me away, it's better than Safari on the iPhone I think.
- Screen: Love it at higher brightness settings.
- Weight: A ton lighter and easier to hold than the OG was.
- ICS: This is going to be really slick once most apps get updated to fully support the UI changes, hardware acceleration etc. Did you guys notice stuff like the changed voice in Google Maps Navigation? It's much less grating now.
Things I don't like:
- Battery life: This is obviously the big one and honestly might be what causes me to return the phone if it's not substantially improved via software/firmware before the return period is up. I blew through both batteries I have yesterday in a period of about 6 1/2 hours. I routinely got a full day out of one on the OG and other phones friends have don't seem anywhere near this bad. I have LTE off and screen brightness down low too. I really hope this is just the OS issues with keep awake etc, but I dunno...
- Camera: It really is nowhere near as good as the ones on the other current phones. Really wish they'd used the sensor from the GSII.
- Signal strength: Definitely am seeing lower signal with this vs the OG, especially indoors at stores and whatnot.
- Screen at low brightness: Count me as one of the people who didn't realize AMOLED had the sheet of linen type look at low brightness. I can live with it but I do hope they get the battery situation under control so I can run it higher than minimum.
- Getting used to onscreen keyboard: Didn't realize how much I used the OG's hardware one until now...
- App incompatibilities: I know this is temporary, but there are several apps I use that are FCing left and right with ICS, especially if I have force GPU acceleration on.

Normally I wait a week also to decide on battery life, but VZW is offering 50% off their batteries for LTE devices. So you can get the extended for $25.00... I got it, figured either way, now I have an extra.

I did the exact same thing; even though I have faith that with LTE turned off and screen brightness turned down that this battery will be more than sufficient after a couple of charges, for $25 it seemed stupid not to buy the extended battery now just in case.
I really don't want to change the aesthetics of the phone with a thicker battery, of course, but it was a "what the hell" moment.
I have the extended batt and I feel like it drains a bit quicker than the normal one. I switched back to the normal one and the phone feels great. I will have to report back with battery tests. I had the extended one in there from day one, yesterday around 1300 I put the original batt in and it had about 68% charge. With med usage I was able to make it 23hrs. I woke up and it still had 13% battery left. I came from the bionic and what I notice is that I'm able to get decent if not better battery life with the stock battery over the extended batt. I will report back in a few days.... Love the phone though.
Went to a buddy's Christmas party and I had iPhone users scrambling trying to find that face effect camera app . To funny my phone counted for hours of drunk fun. F***king luv this phone I'm on day three!!!!

I thought the same thing about "aesthetics" but after looking at the pictures and videos of the extended battery it looks as if the chin on the rear bottom becomes smooth. No more chin just straight. Which is fine by me!

I've had it for a few days myself, and find that I'm liking it better than my iphone 3gs. It's rather a relief not being locked into the "walled garden" anymore.
Once thing I noticed was the lack of latency. The 3gs loaded pages fast, but only after a moderate delay. The GN provides an almost instance response.
Anyway. I'm in Canada. No $20 unlimited for me. We get totally screwed here when it comes to cellular stuff, given our little monopoly triad scandal that's in play. I get to pay $70 for a plan that only includes 1GB (and the contract requires us to be happy about it too)
Oh well.
if you are with virgin or bell ask to speak to retention department and request for the 6 gigs for 30 dollars.

Remember that you need to go through a couple charge cycles with a new battery to get optimal results.

How did you get unlimited data for $20, and they threw in free accessories? DId you ask for the accessories or did they just throw them in for you? Shoot im a new verizon customer and i didn't get a great deal like that.

6 hours and I have 66 percent remaining, light usage.
Placebo effects are interesting.
I bought the extended battery, and placed the old one on my desk. After charging it up I noticed a decent gain in battery life. The next day, bored I picked up the old battery laying on my desk and noticed it was 2100mah according to the sticker. Confused I was like "woooah my phone must had come with an extended battery" then I decided to check what my phone had in it....1850mah *head slap* somehowI mixed them up when I installed it.../sigh
Good standby time (gotten up to 18 hours with light use), but about 3 hours screen on time. Disappointed.
7hours and im at 55% power... right on track for my average usage between 12-14 hours per charge
The unit does not charge. In the beginning before the issue with it dying after the first two seconds began it wouldn’t charge unless it was turned off. There are cases opened about both of these issues on the android website and the only problem is I can’t try any of these solutions because the phone won’t even boot up. Not even into fastboot mode. I tried charging all night and it still will not go past the colorful boot screen sequence and sometimes I can’t even get it to turn on to say Google. And when it does turn on, it only stays on for 2 seconds and then it just dies. That’s the reason why it won’t let me flash the factory images. I tried the USB charging unit that came with the phone on my international Samsung galaxy s2 and it charged just fine.
Anyone have any ideas?
after about 8 hours i burned thru 60% of my battery. meaning I had 40% left over. I would say this is with moderate to heavy use. downloading/updating apps, surfing the web, going on facebook, texting, emails. etc.
Today i had almost 8.5 hrs off battery and just under 3 hrs display time with 39% which is about par for me. I don't have any sync on but i check my mail constantly, check xda, read news and surf the web and occasionally light gaming but not today. At lunch i'm on it about 40 mins on average. And i have spotty signal throughout the day, especially during lunch. It really boils down to realistic expectations and actual usage. A lot of peeps that compare to me wonder why their battery is so terrible but i don't have anything serious going on when i'm not actually using the phone. I don't do social networking. I don't have my phone constantly polling for data on top of the constant polling for signal on top of the constantly checking my battery stats wondering why I'm not getting 6 hours display time. I think some of the battery rage is wasted on that alone. Motorola Droid phones have historically done well on battery because Motorola's usually have great radios on top of the usually great reception Verizon brings. Also, we demand much of our phones, a lot more than last year and the year before. Faster data speeds demand more juice also. Verizon 3g is slow in comparison to T-Mobile/atnt hspa but better efficiency, better architecture and smaller chip sets have helped cancel out a lot of that on hspa radios Lte is still early generation tech and those speeds are ludicrous for a mobile device yet some Verizon folks wonder why they cant pull down 4 hours display time much less 3 when hspa is far more efficient and adequate for the time being. If Verizon wasn't so crooked i more than likely would be an lte nexus owner. I think more people really need to consider what light, moderate and heavy usage really is. Today was realistically heavy moderate use for me. A heavy day for me is tanking the battery in less than 10 hours with 4 hours display. Some of you are light users but your phone is working while you are actually working and you only get 2 hours display time because you had to have your phone tell you bobby cussed out his boss today because of no Xmas bonus, sally cheated on bobby, and bobby is getting sloshed tonight all waiting for you as soon as you pick up your phone and while you're catching up with the on demand soap opera your phone is downloading all your emails in the background. And while it is doing all this your phone is heating up and making electrons have more resistance in the circuitry. The cooler your phone is the less demanding it is on the amperage. Anyways, hopefully this weekend i will get to see if the screen can 5-6 hours display on wifi on one charge. With hspa on.
Crazy world, ay?
14 hours 7 min. Light usage, only one hour on wifi... 57%.. So ya, battery life is just fine

Hello I'm new in this forum and so far I'm very please with my Nokia Lumia 900. I'm in the 15 day mark with the phone and I wanna ask you people how much is your battery living during the day. I'm a heavy cellphone user so this is very important for me to know. The thing is that for the first hour of usage (facebook, web browsing, fantasy leagues) of my cellphone yesterday it drained 30% of the battery and that kind of bothered me. I just wanna know how much is the battery of your nokia lumia 900 living. My battery is lasting from 8-10 hours in a normal day of usage. I'll be very grateful for your help. Thanks.
If you use a MicroCell, make sure to turn cellular data off when connected to it.

What do you refer when you say MicroCell? I use the charger that the cellphone bring in the box...
Microcell is a device provided by AT&T to boost the signal in your home or workplace. If you don't know about it, you probably don't have it. But it does have a tendency to drain batteries.
On my L900, I drain an average of 13%/hour when browsing, reading feeds, etc. And about 3%/hour when the phone is sleeping. 30% sound excessive. That's usually an indicator of a very poor data connection. Or some app running wild. I would start with a soft reset.

Just turn your phone off, wait a sec, and turn it back on again. If you hold the power button you'll get the 'slide to shut down' screen - just slide your finger down the screen towards the bottom to shut the phone down.
You may also glean a bit from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1592369
Hope that helps (and don't be afraid to ask questions - that's what we all come here for =) ).
You can periodically check the drain using the diagnostic app. This way you can individually check settings or apps by enabling/disabling one at a time. Unless you've got a rogue app or feisty data connection, you should be hovering around 100mA drain with no apps actively open.

I am still on my second day... Getting around your usage time, But Having owned an HTC HD7 before I know for a fact that Weather apps are the biggest culprits when it comes to battery drain.
On My HTC HD7 the HTC HUB used to drain the battery a lot.
On my lumia I have the Accuweather....
Also if you go to Settings>Applications TAB > Background tasks you can see which apps are continuously running and can disable them if you dont want to.
Note that Background Tasks don't continually run, unless you are streaming music. Background Tasks allow an app to wake no more often than once every 30 minutes to check or fetch an update. I have 8 Background Tasks active all the time and they represent less than 1% battery drain per hour. Will be doing some controlled tests next week to verify.

Yess.. Last night I turned the data off while the phone charged over night and today I unplugged my phone at 9:30am, made over a hundred texts, browed the internet, facebook, etc.. Watched videos, made a lot of calls and the battery lasted for 13 hours ... Lets see if this continue like this ... Im on my sixth day with the phone...
Not so happy
The battery is the only thing that doesnt make me happy. 8 to 10 hours with light use
If it's really light use. That's unusual. You should burn no more that 4% per hour while asleep am an additional 9-10% per hour while talking or with the screen on. So 4% x 10= 40%. And 10 x 6 = 60%. So you should be able to use your phone for up to 6 hours in that 10 hour period. Note that playing memory intense games or steaming video will reduce your available uptime significantly.
Sound like a connection problem. Check your battery percentage and set your phone down for 3-4 hours without touching it. Wake it up and check your battery again. What's the average drain per hour. Anything near/over 5% is a problem.

I dont know what the problem exactly was but I think the battery is getting more power with time... Today the battery lasted for 12 hours with a lot of cellphone use... Maybe it is getting better charge with the data off while it is charging overnight...

same with the HTC phones, they charge better if 3G and wifi is turned off
Have never turned my 3G or WiFi off on any of my HTC phones (Fuze, TP2, and Surround). What makes it better? Never had a problem charging. Always at 99-100% when I unplugged. And I use a USB backup charger frequently for mid-day charges on my Surround. No issues.

If you've connected to FB, and don't use the chat feature, be sure to turn it off (or not turn it on when you connect). That can be a battery drainer.

I'm of the notion that if I have to turn off phone featured on this phone to make the battery last 1 full day, the phone is broke. The lumia 900 is designed to last a full day. That's it.
There is another battery thread in this forum where talked alot about apps, free apps, and ads use of battery. You may want to check it out. There was all of good discussions.
Bottom line, for me, texts, calls, internet, Facebook, etc battery usage pales in comparison to using free games with ads. An hour of an ad dominated game will drain your battery significantly. Check out the other thread.
I have started a series of articles over at Mobility Digest (www.mobilitydigest.com) where I am stating some truths about the L900 specifically, and WPs in general. First one was push email vs. timed downloads. No difference, except for an anomaly with the 1 hour sync time. Basically looking at all those things that allegedly drain your battery in the background.
Next up, Feedback and Check for Updates settings. Don't believe any of these things have significant impact on battery life, but need some data to prove it.
