Anyone get this running on Raver's ICS BlackEdition?
I think I found the system-ui.apk (not named that exactly..), but I can't find the framework-res. If anyone can shed some light on
1) whether or not this will work yet for Raver's ROM, and
2) which file names I should be looking to drop into the Input_APK folder
I would be pumped. Thanks as always!

yes, it should work.. i'm working on Transparent Status bar mod.. once it's fixed i will post that add a different battery icon image.

added pictures and links of various battery icons in the OP.
also added instructions to update new battery icons.

The trip-up for me was in finding the systemui and framework-res apks. You need to use your computer to open the zipped ROM file that you flashed onto your phone and find the recommended files there, within the ROM zip. I was trying to connect my phone via USB and search for the files and then I was looking for them on Battery Mod. Understanding that those were in my zipped ROM flashable was the stickiest part.
Great tool. You've got my thanks. I'll post screenshots in a second.

I really liked the Full Circle by Pendo so I took the leap and made my own flashable zip using shayne77's post.
Let me know if it works for you!

which one is not working in SkyICS?

Universal is not so universal. neither centered clock or battery worked with my themed i727
if you could port the centered clock for my theme that would be pretty epic.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/70122013/SuperLite5.0_AOSP.zip
also idk if its possible to increase the font size of the clock a little but that would be quite nice.
idk if you can do the 1% too, I like ICS Domination - Original or 1% Battery - Stock

Universal is not working as because the SystemUI.apk is not compiled properly.. see the attached error..
so i tried different method of compiling your systemui.apk and made the center clocl, install it and let me know whether it works or not.

[MOD] 1% Circle Battery Mod

This 1% Circle Battery Mod is based in large part on work by evilkal. And like evilkal said:
It is an unbroken circle that wanes down and is edited in 1% increments the entire way. That means you will need a ROM that supports this.
If you would like to use this in your theme, PLEASE ask me first. All I ask is for a little credit and that is all
Click to collapse
Why:
I liked evilkal's concept & implementation, but I didn't feel it meshed as well as I'd prefer with the other Holo themed status bar icons in cm10. So I ...
(1) added a dark grey 'under-circle' to keep the circle symmetry even when the battery is low.
(2) used the Roboto-bold Jellybean font for the percentage numbers and made the text bigger for easier reading.
(3) made the percentage numbers the same light grey as the adjacent E/3G/H/H+/etc. text on the signal strength icon.
(4) did away with the 100 percent battery text and replaced it with a full battery symbol in the same light grey. This also allowed bigger 0-99 percent text because I didn't have to leave room for that left-most 1 that's only shown 1/101th of the time.
How:
First I tried working with Photoshop - but it's really tedious and difficult to work with 202 different versions of the icon in 4 separate resolution settings. Then I switched to InkScape and based the icon(s) off a scalable vector graphic file. This worked like a charm and I now have a single file for all master map resolutions. I still had to slice the different master maps in Photoshop though.

ROM Specific:
I made the following CWM flashable zips for my own devices to get the mod installed with minimal fuss.
(1) Galaxy Nexus I9250 running only the following build - cm-10-20120911-EXPERIMENTAL-maguro-M1
zuberio-battery-mod-cm-10-20120911-EXPERIMENTAL-maguro-M1.zip (ALWAYS NANDROID BEFORE YOU FLASH)
(2) Galaxy Tab 10.1 GT-P7510 running only the following build - cm-10-20120815-EXPERIMENTAL-p4wifi
zuberio-battery-mod-cm-10-20120815-EXPERIMENTAL-p4wifi.zip (ALWAYS NANDROID BEFORE YOU FLASH)
(3) Galaxy Nexus I9250 running only the following build - cm-10-20121011-EXPERIMENTAL-maguro-M2
zuberio-battery-mod-cm-10-20121011-EXPERIMENTAL-maguro-M2.zip (ALWAYS NANDROID BEFORE YOU FLASH)
(4) Asus Nexus 7 running only the following build - cm-10-20121011-EXPERIMENTAL-grouper-M2
zuberio-battery-mod-cm-10-20121011-EXPERIMENTAL-grouper-M2.zip (ALWAYS NANDROID BEFORE YOU FLASH)
Also, for the 'just-in-case' situation, I've created a CWM flashable undo zip. This will undo the replacement of your SystemUI.akp. How?: because my CWM mods move your existing SystemUI.akp to /sdcard/SystemUI_old.apk ... and the undo just grabs that file and puts it back in /system/app/SystemUI.apk
They look great!
Do they really only work on the specific builds that you posted or is that more of a "only guaranteed to work with :" kind of warning?

The images themselves should work on any build you mod them into. The CWM flashable files only work on their builds because my mod replaces the SystemUI.apk file in those builds with a modified one.
So don't use the CWM flash if that's not your build. You'll have to add the images to your build's SystemUI.apk file by decompiling and recompiling it.

Nice work. Using the 36x36 ones on aokp and they look perfect. Just had to batch rename them to match aokp naming scheme.
good day.
Hi I'm new here, sorry for silly question. What I have supposed to do with image packs? And where I have to put in? After I flashed the zip the mod. Thanks buddy :highfive:

Only flash the CWM zips if you're running one of those two builds. Otherwise, you need to mod your SystemUI.apk file manually with the image packs.
This is an excellent step-by-step guide explaining what you need to do with the image packs and your SystemUI.apk file.

Metamorph/zipthemer theme
I like this battery theme very much. Thank you!!
Keeping up to date with the CM10 nightlies, I'd rather not decompile/modify/recompile the apk everyday or so, I'm trying to make a metamorph theme.
Sadly, this being my first attempt to package a theme, it's not working.
It seems that I can't change the stat_sys_battery.xml and stat_sys_battery_charge.xml.
I attached the zip I produced, if anyone who knows a bit about that wants to look into it.
PS: I didn't find the THANK YOU button, otherwise, I would have pressed it
EDIT: it seems I can't add new png either, i can just replace existing ones...
EDIT: I got it to work, but I had to include a resources.arsc file. I'm not sure but I think it means it is not version independent...
Anyway, I included the file. It is only for xhdpi for the moment and works with CM10-20120924 . I'll test it on my next nightly. If someone wants another resolution, I can make it but I can't test it.
Hi zuberio,
nice work. So I decided to help you a bit.....for everyone who is running a rom with 1% incrementel mod......here are zuberios pics flashable for every rom on every device (but keep in mind.......rom must have 1% mod implemented). This flashable zip morphs only the png which your device needs (depends on the device is hdpi, mdpi, ldpi or xhdpi).....so really clean method
you can use it.

I tried making a zipthemer/metamorph zip. (See my previous post).
It works on the cm10-20120924 nightly, and should work on other nightlies too (maybe), but I can't test it because I only have the one phone.
It's only xhdpi at the moment but I can add more resolutions if people are interested.
I got a special request for a version without text.

Hey. I don't know if it was you who posted this in the CM10 Nightly thread, but I was wondering if this one works without breaking the added Nav Button editor in CM10?

My CWM flashable file is for the M1 build which doesn't have custom navigation implemented in it. If you want your nightly running this mod you'll need to modify your SystemUI.apk file on your own.
Ok, I'm not familiar with editing apk's, so I'll just have to live without custom nav bar for a while
It would be cool if you can look into adding it to CM10's selection of battery mods (they already have a couple in there).

It's on my list of things to do as well as up there as a pet peeve. I need to figure out what generates the settings menu and then modify it. I have a suspicion it's not an XML file but a JAR file that needs to be modified.
I've submitted a ticket to CM to have this added to the build itself https://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/issues/detail?id=6216

[VRTHEME]1% Animated Battery Mod for Stock Roms, PA 2.5 & SmoothROM 4.2

The stock battery on the Nexus 7 only changes icons at 0%, 15%, 28%, 43%, 57%, 71%, 85% & 100% charge so I've modified it so that there are now icons for every 1% and they're also animated when the device is charging.
To do this, I made two sets of Base VRThemes which modify SystemUI.apk:
The first set are Base Statusbar Battery VRThemes which change just the statusbar battery icons and contain a modified res\drawable\stat_sys_battery.xml, a modified res\drawable\stat_sys_battery_charge.xml, the 202 1% statusbar battery icons in res\drawable-hdpi & larger versions of thes icons in res\drawable-sw720dp-hdpi for tablet mode users and a modified resources.arsc
The second set are Base Statusbar Battery & Pulldown Battery Toggle VRThemes which change the statusbar battery icons and the pulldown battery toggle battery icons. These contain a modified res\drawable\stat_sys_battery.xml, a modified res\drawable\stat_sys_battery_charge.xml, a modified res\drawable\qs_sys_battery.xml, a modified res\drawable\qs_sys_battery_charging.xml, the 202 1% statusbar battery icons & the 202 1% pulldown battery toggle battery icons in res\drawable-hdpi and a modified resources.arsc
The new resources.arsc is needed because it contains the modified res\values\public.xml file with the info about the battery pngs. Unfortunately, adding this file makes the base VRTheme rom specific.
If a Base Statusbar Battery VRTheme has been flashed, Battery Universal VRThemes can be flashed over the top to change just the statusbar battery icons.
If a Base Statusbar Battery & Pulldown Battery Toggle VRTheme has been flashed, Pulldown Battery Universal VRThemes can be flashed over the top to change just the pulldown battery toggle battery icons and Battery Universal VRThemes can be flashed over the top to change just the statusbar battery icons.
These VRThemes have all been tested using both TWRP & CWM recovery and multiple Universal VRTheme flashing is supported.

Hello,
Can you modify this so that it also puts the image files in the folder res\drawable-sw720dp-hdpi so that it works when in tablet mode.
Thanks,

Yes, I'll get onto it ASAP.
I'll update this post when it's done.

Hey guys, Sorry if posting in the wrong thread. Is there a way to completely replace the charging animation with system boot? I am going to be using my N7 tablet as a carputer and want it to autoboot up when charger is plugged in.
Hey bro, you should really make a tutorial for this, I would really like to make a Beautiful Battery theme.
All I really need to know is what files to make and how to complile the flashable zip.
It's fantastic, thanks man.

It doesn't really need a tutorial as there's no decompiling/compiling involved when modifying the universal VRTheme zips.
All you need to do is download any Universal VRTheme and replace the 101 battery icons (stat_sys_battery_0.png - stat_sys_battery_100.png) and 101 battery charging icons (stat_sys_battery_charge_anim0.png - stat_sys_battery_charge_anim100.png) in res\drawable-hdpi & res\drawable-sw720dp-hdpi with the ones you want to use.
Make sure they're about the same size as the current ones and simply drop them directly into the zip file using 7-Zip.
Once you've done this, follow the installation instructions but flash your new universal zip after the base zip.
Thanks, i'm waiting for update to 4.2

OK, I've downloaded the pngs, re-sized them, re-coloured them and added the universal flashable vrtheme to the first post.
You can't use it on 4.2 yet though as I haven't made a base theme - I still can't decompile/compile it's SystemUI.apk.
As soon as I can, I will.
Update
Now that I've successfully managed to decompile/compile SystemUI.apk from android 4.2 JOP40C,
I've added a Stock 4.2 JOP40C HyDrOG3N Base Battery VRTheme to the first post
Note: Before flashing any Battery Universal VRTheme over the Stock 4.2 JOP40C HyDrOG3N Base Battery VRTheme,
you should delete the drawable-sw720dp-hdpi folder from the Battery Universal VRTheme zip first.

[VRTHEME][JB 4.1.2] Blue Ginger VRTheme for XWLS8 & XWLSD roms

Having moved from a blue themed ICS rom to Stock Jellybean, I wanted get rid of the ugly green icons that Samsung insist on including in their roms but, rather than flashing a ready made mod or theme, I made a basic VRTheme which swaps lots of pngs in SystemUI.apk, framework-res.apk, SecSettings.apk, SecPhone.apk, SecContacts.apk & SecMms.apk
I also added a 1% battery mod with charging animation, changed the colour of the statusbar clock & battery % text to ICS blue and brightened the statusbar notification icons.
This VRTheme can be flashed in CWM recovery or using the GooManager app. (Browse all files > devs > Spannaa > SGSII_VRThemes > JellyBean_VRThemes)
It has been tested on Stock Samsung XWLS8 & XWLSD roms as well as NeatROM Lite 4.2 & 4.3 and should work on any 4.1.2 stock based rom (take a backup first if flashing on a non-listed rom).
I've also included a 'Revert To Stock' zip which will remove the theme and take you back as close to stock XWLS8/XWLSD as is possible with a universal VRTheme. If you want to get completely back to stock, you'll need to replace the modified SystemUI.apk on your device with your original . (There should be backups of all of the apks modified by this VRTheme in the vrtheme-backup folder on your sdcard.)
The blue 3D toggle & Extended PowerIcons were designed by bingobingobingo and are included with thanks. (See his original thread here).

If I want use my own images, is it necessary to use in systemui.apk folder your resources.arsc file, or I can replace it, or remove.

If you're talking about the ICS Blue Ginger VRTheme, and you want to do it in one hit, then you need to keep the xml files in the layout & drawable folders and the resources.arsc (the resources.arsc is needed because it contains the modified res\values\public.xml file with the info about the 1% battery mod pngs).
The best way to make a custom, personal theme would be to flash the ICS Blue Ginger VRTheme first and then make your own flashable theme afterwards by stripping out everything (including resources.arsc & the xml files), adding your replacement pngs in the correct folders and flashing this afterwards.
Good theme When i flash this, do i have 23 toggles ? Or just stock toggles instead of green ? If it is 23 toggles mod, Flashlight and Reboot toggles are working ?

Sorry both - I made this VRTheme for myself and shared it so that others who don't like the stock green Samsung Icons could use it.
I don't really have the time to do requests that involve decompiling, editing xml and/or smali files and then recompiling.
Update
Added AOKP Battery Universal VRTheme to the second post.
The Blue Ginger VRTheme has now been tested and is working as expected on Stock Samsung XWLS8 & XWLSD roms as well as NeatROM Lite 4.2 & 4.3.
It should now work on any 4.1.2 stock based rom but take a backup first if flashing on a non-listed rom.
Working great on XWLSD. Thanks Spannaa!

Do you mind to create a mod like this one? I thinks is the best one, because the number are bigger!!

Thanks a lot, for your kind help!
If you cannot make this mod, why don't you try to create only number, instead of the icon with number??

Hi! sorry for long feedback.
here, the clock now on the right side (stock clock).
but when you pulldown the status bar i've made some changes in toggle setting icons (original icon with blue colour and fully black notification background) looks better than the transparent one.
hope you like it and sorry for the bad english
extract the zip file, copy and paste to /System/App folder
