First thread in xda so I apologise if I'm asking in the wrong way. I'll keep it short though
I'm running LC's ICS 7.0 . I themed this and flashed the 'Themed HTC keyboard for ICS'. All was working well. Now I have flashed this theme and whenever I try to input text I am prompted with voice input and ONLY voice input.
Now under settings i have only 'Google voice typing' to select from nder keyboard & input methods (also set as default).
Please, how do i get ANY keyboard back. I can't type at all.
You can copy latinime.apk from the from.zip and paste it into /system/app/ or you can just flash the from again but you will lose any additional mods (don't wipe anything)
Beamed from my AOKP'd up Desirable HD
I can't find this 'from.zip' file. Or are you talking about the flashed keyboard copying the apk from there? (The flashed keyboard was a theme I think.)
OHKAY i get it now thanks very much It's fine I don't think it's too hard to flash the mods again. much appreciated you've saved me a lot of time.
[Solved] If a mod comes across this could you change the title please for other users?

Hello all, I've been flashing my roms for a long time now, and I'd like to think I'm not much of a newbie here, but there is one thing that is ruining me. I've asked on the thread where the rom has been posted, but no answers.
The Rom in question is AuraxTSense 7.6.1.
Is there a way to get rid of all transparency and just have it look like Sense? (not that I want sense. LauncherPro is my cup of tea) but the transparency on the keyboard, the transparent dock at the top and the dropdown menu looking grey isn't to my fancy. So is there a way to get rid of all transparency? I haven't tried flashing "original theme" from the first page yet, but I will do if it gets rid.
Running NexTSense v6.0 atm and would love to upgrade to the newest version as I do like what Neo is doing with his roms. They are stable and not so battery hungry (that'll be another day to find out the best radio).
Thanks,
Dan

flash the original theme will get rid of the expressobar, flash a diffrent taskbar will get rid of the transparant taskbar and notifiction pull down, and use adb to remove and push the original htc_ime.apk to get the old one back, you could also make your own htc_ime mod at www.gimpsta.com and use that instead
Well flashing the original theme will get rid of it and return theme to stock sense(not espresso), but he states it is for 5.0, so if he have changed anything else in the .apk's it flashes, it might change other things. but i would say go ahead, make a nandroid and try it. Alternatively you could pull the the following from 6.0 and add them to a zip file:
- framework-res.apk
- com.htc.resources.apk
- Rosie.apk
- HtcLockScreen.apk
Those are the one's included in the original theme zip. (edit: also many of the widgets are edited, if you want to change back, pull those from 6.0 as well)
Btw. i love the transparency, and i'm using the rom myself. Only thing missing is transparrent message area, when pulled down. For the keyboard. Just use the "HTC ime mod" which is also included
Cheers for your help guys. I'm gonna check both of them out. Making my own keyboard seems a great idea because I have big thumbs and always hit the . button and would like to get rid of the language. Would be fun times. I do like HTC_IME Mod too tbh, flawless!

Well, I'd just like to confirm that all this worked. I got the AuraxTSense 7.6.1 and NexTSense 6.0 and took all the files out of the 6.0, put them in to a zip file with all of AuraxTSense 7.6.1 and flashed it (after doing Nandroid just incase).
Only thing is the Keyboard didn't get rid of the transparency, but seeing as their is the Multitouch Keyboard, as well as HTC_IME Mod, it's fine!

So first I say thanks for the 2,2,1 update..
Now I ask how do you do it. Is it a small change to one line of the main. XML file?
if so then how are you editing the XML.
I find if I unzip the framework.Res.API the XML files are not readable.
Thanx again..

thanks for 2.2.1!

did make sure the usb already mounted to the device.
1. adb remount
remount succeeded
2. adb devices

last thing I type:
adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework

sorry for the dumb question but does anyone know if this will work with a US Verizon Xoom with a standard data package?
Can I send SMS messages if I a only wifi connected?
This looks great. Would be better as a CWM zip file.
Hi this must be a noob question, but i need to know how to replace the default dialer .apk file and also the contacts .apk file to something else (exDialer and exContacts) in the ROM itself.
Try extracting the apks from the stock ROM and replace it. Report back.
Sent from a Time Lord, using his TARDIS.
Nope it didn't seem to work!
It said installation failed.
Just follow these steps...there is a chance they might not work but you are free to try it
1.Install the dialer app(dont move it to sd card)
2.Use a file manager app with root permissions enabled(eg- ES File Explorer) and go to the "phone memory" then "data/app" copy the app's apk to the sd card
3.Now uninstall the app ....the install was for getting the apk file
4.Rename the backed up apk as "Phone.apk" (case-sensitive)
5.Backup your CM7 dialer by going into phone memory "system/app"....it will be named "Phone.apk".....back it up somewhere in the SD card
6.Now just take the apk of the dialer you wanted and copy it in phone memory "system/app"
7.Finally change the permissions of the apk as follows
--->In ES File Explorer, after moving your desired dialer's apk, long press for menu
--->Then select Properties
--->In the properties window there will be a button labelled "Change" just beside permissions
--->Then Select the 1st two check boxes in User,1st in group and 1st in other and press ok
8.Reboot the phone and pray to God it works
9.To revert back, just put the original "Phone.apk" in "system/app" and reboot

You're not supposed to remove the default dialler app. It's a part of the system framework and the results when you do try to remove it will be severe. I believe that the phone aspect of Android is integrated into the default dialer apk (Both in sense and in AOSP).
In any case, there is no need to remove the dialler apk.You just install an alternate dialler and set that as default. It's works as if the original dialler was never there.
You cannot bring over the sense dialler though since that depends on the entire sense framework.
Just install exDialer and set it as default.
You can push it to /system/app if you would like. Leave the original one as it though.

As soon as I replace the Phone.apk, it force closes to the homescreen. After I try restarting the device, it refuses to get past the Boot Screen Animation.

So you're saying there is no way I can natively replace the dialer to the exDialer in the Rom itself?
FYI: The Rom concerned here is HCMIUI 3.2 by Henry. Brilliant Rom otherwise!
Exactly, the default dialler cannot be replaced except perhaps by a full replacement say from the original cm7 rom or a themed version of your current dialler. You can only add a secondary dialler which will work in addition to the original one.
Check out the apk for the original Phone.apk
You'll find the components of the in-call screen.
cm7 themes for example retheme the framework which applies some modifications to the original in call screen.

^ How do i do that? Actually this is exactly what i want to do, a full replacement!
You can probably take the Phone.apk and replace your current one with (Make sure you set the permissions to 644) but it really won't make much of a difference. Instead, just install the cm7 Theme Chooser and change your theme. HC MIUI is basically a themed cm7 rom with a MIUI flavor, MIUI apps and stellar animation effects!
Would love to get those on other ROMS!
There's actually a fuller MIUI (gb) but it's only on beta (There are some usability issues in which the colours in some apps are FUBAR) and the MIUI 4 (ics) is only on alpha... On my phone, the Phone crashed on making a calling the MIUI 4...
Well i guess this is not possible the way i thought i would!
maybe someone can make a patch or something that will do this( maybe for other default apps also) just a thought?!
How to set ExDialer as fault

Anybody able to use custom notification/ringtones with the latest versions of MIUI4?
I've tried putting my ringtones/notifications in every directory that has been suggested on the forums but to no avail.
/sdcard/notifications = doesn't work
/sdcard/miui/notifications = doesn't work
/sdcard/miui/media/audio/notifications = doesn't work
/sdcard/media/audio/notifications = doesn't work
/phone/system/media/audio/notifications = working on 2.6.1 build, but on 2.6.8 build only 1 of the custom notifications shows up, but all others don't.
{Same results for all the corresponding ringtones folders.}
{By 'doesn't work', I mean they don't show up in the list when I attempt to change the notification/ringtone; manually browsing to them using the 'others' button I can select the custom notification/ringtone, but it doesn't actually set it, I just get silence.}
I've followed the advice in some comments to change file/folder permissions and that didn't help either.
My notifications/ringtones were .mp3s that I've been using on non ICS roms without difficulty for the life of my phone, but just to be thorough, I converted them to .ogg with the same results.
Thanks for any help.
Go to customize under themes. Err mix

Thanks for instructions.
I'm on my way to see Radiohead in a few minutes, so I don't have time to flash back to 2.6.8 to test this, but from looking in the themes section it appears I still won't be able to set individual custom ringtones for each of my exchange email accounts.
Not trying to be too picky, I really appreciate all the work done to get ICS working as well as it does now and obviously this is a minor issue. It'd just be nice to be able to use the ringtones I'm used to so I know which emails are work related and which are personal.
Thanks again.
Looking for a complete stock MMS app that isn't themed with emoji support (like the cm10 one that was recently released). Anyone have this available? I use another ROM atm and emoji support isn't supported right now, and I prefer the stock look.
Mods please close thread. I was able to solve/find my request.

Alright what I did was downloaded the cm10 Kang fits made and found the mms.apk in the system files. It works perfectly for bamf paradigm, but I can't confirm for any other Roms. This is cm10 work so I take no credit whatsoever for it. I would like to also mention I did this with a toro/verizon device so I can't verify if it works for GSM (even though it should).
How to install:
Using root explorer, go to system > app and find your current mms.apk and rename it to mms.apk.bak (do this step in case the new mms doesn't work, so you can rename your old apk back just in case.)
Move the downloaded apk in this post to the same folder which is system>app folder.
Restart your phone and it should be installed and working.
Edit: forgot to mention that once the MMS is installed to turn on emoji support under the MMS settings in the bottom. Any questions ask away.
It doesn't work on stock JRC03C, force closes.
Hopefully people don't get upset about me replying to an old thread but I used the above Mms.apk and found that it didn't have CM10's "Quick Reply" so I copied over the emoji pngs used by Gja88 into the newer CM10 MMS app.
Since this was the only thread that I could find with the non-Android-ified emoji I will put up my Mms.apk too. This has no Android creature emojis (instead they all look like the emoji on the iPhone) and it has CM10's QuickMessage feature.
Thank you Gja88 & CM10 for the original leg-work here, please read Gja88's earlier posts. I have only tested it on my LTE GNex running CM10 M2
