I just got my phone in the mail this afternoon, and i was wondering why it kept bouncing the signal in and out, only to find out that the antenna leaves alot to be desired?
anything i should, or shouldnt do to make the best of the situation or do i have to make the command decision to live with it or give it up?
So your signal is going whack? You can attempt to flash a new radio.
As Media said, I would try to flash another set of radios. You can also try shutting your phone off, removing the SIM card for a couple of minutes and then rebooting which has worked for me a couple of times before.

Flash 4.0.4 radios(to be specific) and try again.
Im going to assume i need to root in order to do this?
I really dont have any issue with rooting, but i was wondering recently about the fact that when ive been loading roms, after i go to the market most of my items dont show up anymore.
Do i need to load a rom in order to flash the radio?
I tried three radios. Same result. :mad

Maybe try returning it for another one?
Or does anyone you know have a GN?

So my phone lost connectivity yesterday around 5pm. I though nothing of it at first, but then a few hours later it still was not able to connect to any mobile networks. I am unable to call, text or do anything with data for that matter. I tried the sim in my old trusty G1 and everything worked.
I called tech suppport and they refreshed my sim. I went through all of there troubleshooting non sense. The verdict? Warranty exchange...but wait....they are out of stock and have no estimated time of when they will be available.
Has anyone else heard of a phone suddenly losing all ability to get on a mobile network? I have been on the internet researching the issue for hours now and have tried everything I have come across, but no luck.
1. Left the battery and sim out of the phone overnight
2. Numerous airplane mode toggles
3. Connecting headphones
4. Phone Info menu and turning radio off/on + trying different radio settings
5. Reflashing radios
6. Flashing different roms
7. Odin back to stock 2.3.6 with wiping of everything
I am thinking I have been defeated by the galaxy s2.

Its scary how often this has happening...your probably the 5th person on xda who had this happen to them that i saw...Your efs folder probably got corrupt somehow and there is now way to restore that. You're going to need a get a warranty replacement...

I have read about that happening before, just don't know why it would have happened out of nowhere. Chalking it up as stuff happens.

I bet you were fiddling around with radios huh? I messed around flashing alternate radios to mine and my girl's phone and her phone was having this issue. Nothing would fix it, good thing I created a nandroid backup because all issues were fixed after I flashed back.

No...I wasnt doing anything to the phone. I had been running the same rom for about two weeks and was enjoying the luxury of amazing battery life.
While I was browsing the net on my phone, it lost signal...since then it hasn't returned.
I did do a warranty exchange so hopefully I will have a working device soon.

Hey guys,
I know about the 4.0.4 signal issue but mine is a little bit serious i think....
Since updated to 4.0.4 I'm loosing signal about 1 to 2 time per minutes. Even the new update to fix it didn't. I then installed AOKP+Latest baseband+Franco Kernel milestone 2 AND I STILL EXPERIENCE THAT ISSUE. My friend is set up the same way and don't have that problem.
Thing is, one I get the signal, if i place a call I can talk for hours without loosing the signal so if it was hardware related I think it would happen even on the line....(maybe i'm wrong on this one)
I'm on Rogers Wireless in canada.
I've tried also going into the *#*#4636#*#* menu and trying different prl WCDMA, GSM auto PRL, GSM Only, etc... still no difference.....
I'm attaching a screenshot of the nosignal app log....
Anyone have an idea?
Btw i also tried oc to 700mhz+ and issue is still hapening. Next step is a wall and some velocity....

Also, I don't know if it could be related but I'm suscribed to Rogers One Number. (I can use a PC to place calls using my phone number. Network can also transfer call to my pc if phone is off and things like that). It is.similar to google voice i think

What radio?
I had problems with my data not registering/holding a connection so I'd have to recycle the radio by airplane off/on just to initiate it, and when it did, the rates/latency was all over the place, reverted back to a kk6 radio and it resolved the issue.
My radio/baseband is I9250UGLC1 and I use it in Canada with Rogers.
I tried already to remove battery, remove and put back the sim card, clear cache, clear dalvjc, flash rom few times......nothing is working

Give the UGLA4 radio a try, personally I found it to be the best of the bunch. The xx series of radios were awful for me.
Try to revert to a stock rom... I don't mean unroot just flash a stock rom. This made my problem go away
Already revert to canadian stock rom but the problem remain.....
Any rom or radio I flash do the same problem.....also tried the simcard of my friend to see if it was the sim but the bug mas also happening with his sim....

I don't know if it could me that but the first time i flashed 4.0.4 stock rom from google code website i tried to flash by mistake the version for nexus s. G tool abirted because it was not the same thing. Then i flashed the right one.
Could it has caused the bug? If so, any idea to solve?
Btw is someone know hot to try to sent it for repair?

I was checking out some of the themes that i had downloaded to see which one i liked the most and after a few installs i noticed that my phone was no longer getting 3g/hspa+ ? I had done nothing except install and reboot like instructed in the discription. I was installing them via "Themes" settings. Im currently on AOKP build 39 with the latest nightly from Franco (R191), I have never seen this before which is why i thought id post this thread. I have tried the following and got no fix:
tried *#*#4636#*#* and selected radio band/automatic but got nothing.
tried a refresh on the APN and got nothing
tried Mobile networks/Network operators/both "Select Automatically" and choosing T-mobile and no 3g still =(. Im stuck on EDGE:2
The radio that i have been on for a while now is xxkk6 which has worked pretty good for me coming from Phoenix,AZ
Dont know what else to do, someone help please
Why make two threads for the same problem?

Before creating a "theme broke 3g" thread. Did you happen to call your carrier and see if there has been an outage reported in your area? Have you tried to reflash rom, gapps and kernel and does the problem persist?
good day.

I'm having the same problem. Was working fine on HSPA last night and woke up to Edge only all day. It's not a network outage and it's not my account as my SIM works on HSPA on my backup HTC Amaze. I was recently on CM9 Nightly 6/20 but I'll try going back to the stock rom and see what that does.
Edit: Tried reverting to complete stock everything and I'm still stuck on Edge only. I'll try a friend's SIM out and make sure it's not my account/IMEI issue, otherwise something has to be wrong with the phone, but I don't know what

There is no outage in my area because everyone that i know has T-mobile and there phone works fine. Re flash rom, gapps, kernel and problem still remains
Either me bringing it back to stock/oem lock then unlock or my phone fixed itself. At first when i was done bringing it back to stock, it was still saying i was on edge, then after about an hour when i tried to root my phone i noticed that 3g/h back up. I still dont know what exactly the root cause but whatever its fixed
Hello guys, first off I have an ATT S3 running the latest PA beta with quantum kernel.
Now my query, sometimes i have a strong signal and then it suddenly disappears, i mean from a strong signal to a no signal and it takes approximately 2 minutes to get it back again. My baseband is the latest anyways and i always have LTE on.
Btw even though i tried switching the signal mode it still doesn't work, any help would be appreciated thanks.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747
It has something to do with a LTE bug, many people have had it. I actually have it currently on my S3 with Quantum ROM.
From what I have found and read is that we have to go back to stock ROM, though it is "complicated" that it might brick our phones with an increased percentage... I am looking for guides on helping me go back to stock, but everything is so unorganized on here and many more experienced users don't like to help others who have problems. They just tell us what is needed without the aide that might help prevent a brick..
What I do know is that you need to go back to an old bootloader but you can't go back to an old bootloader..
I will be following this thread for some help, mine didn't get any help.
I have the same problem. Anyone have a fix?
I had the issue in the past. I fixed it by going back to stock with Odin. Some have said you can also fix by flashing a TW ROM. I have not tested it that way though.
Not sure but I believe going back to stock depends on which bootloader your on.

I've been having a strange problem with my S3 lately, all of the sudden, the connection to 3g network has only rarely been working. It shows that I have a signal, and that I am actually connected, but I can't make calls, send texts, or get data. It has been rooted with Liquidsmooth for over a year with no problems, and I didn't flash any other roms or anything else that I can think of to cause this. I tried flashing another rom, restoring to an older nandroid backup, nothing fixes it.
After searching around, and being unable to find any solutions, I flashed back to a rooted version of stock (root66 T999_UVUENC2). I've talked to Tmobile, and they suggested trying it is gsm only mode, and that actually works ... I can call / text while on gsm, but obviously I don't get 3g data. When in regular network mode, it does the same thing, shows signal and that I'm connected, but nothing works.
So, any clue as to what could be going on here? Is it just a hardware problem like an antennae going bad, or could there be some software issue causing the problem? Thanks, any information would be helpful.
My current setup:
root66 T999_UVUENC2
Kernel 3.0.31-1962493
Baseband t999uvuenc2
They probably would've said something when you called, but check if the imei got blacklisted somehow. (Mistakes have been made before).
Also make sure you're still using the correct APN.
Beyond that I'm just not sure what to tell you. Since you've gone full stock, it most likely means its either a hardware or network/account problem.
Have you made sure you're not being throttled?

Tmobile checked my account when I called and they said there's no problem on their end and that it should be working. I double checked the things you suggested, no luck. And since nobody else that I know with Tmobile is having problems in the area, so I guess it has to be some kind of hardware problem. Thanks for the help, guess it's time to start looking for a replacement.

Maybe you could troubleshoot by trying you sim in a friends phone and their sim in your phone to see if the issue persists with either the sim or the phone. If it is the SIM, you know it is on T-Mobiles end, if it is on the phone you know it is on your phone. I would also try re-flashing everything just to be sure it's not in the software/firmware before spending money on another device.

That's a good idea, I'll try changing out the sim card and see if that helps.

Didn't someone say it was a problem with the ROMs base not working with the radio/modem? If that's the case it probably won't be fixed until the base is fixed. Think they said it was CM?
