Known Bugs & Issues - HTC One X

Hey guys
A lot of you seem to have little issues with the HTC One X so I decided to make a thread where we can gather all those issues to find out if you are alone or not. Which is important to know if the problem is related to your specific device or rather some software issue.
Bugs
Screen stops turning orientation, even in settings menu G-sensor no longer moves. - POSSIBLE FIX : Go to taskmanager and kill all tasks - All credit and thanks go to casca
Calendar widget crashes if more then 20 appointments - TIP : Just remove the widget since it will keep crashing until you remove it...
Other HTC widgets seem to be causing lag too.
GPU Rendering can't be forced.
Live wallpaper stops on switching between screens
GPS issues - Possible fix : Download gps status on the market and clear the a-gps data - if this works all credit and thanks go to matmar
Screen starts "jumping"
When browsing/camera/other Sense 4.0 related tasks -> It looks like there is "noise" on the screen. Like this
SIM card stops working/restarts/no connection
The three dot menu button appears in some ICS native apps, like the YouTube app for example. - Fix for this in Dev section (requires unlock)
Tegra 3 games (and some others) lag, this is probably connect to some video driver bug. (Hardware is fast enouf to play it without lag)
Screen reactivating after using the lock-button (only 1 click ofc)
When opening the Clock app (just by pressing the clock on your homescreen), and moving to the Timer-tab (the one on the far right) it always adds one hour, one minute and one second to whatever time you set it to.
Issues
Lag in Multi-Tasking window and other elements - TIP : Go to Dev Settings - disable animations. This improved the speed a lot for me (even thou most animations keep on running, only the excessive ones get turned off) [This lag is clearly a software issue, other launchers are lag-free; should be fixed soon]
A lot of people are reporting signal problems. (No clue what's causing it)
Yellow spots on the screen
Always try to Factory Reset your device if you have a problem. Most of the time this fixes it. (Last resort)
Post your bugs and issues and if they get posted frequently I'll add them to the list.
Note to people who are planning on buying an HTC One X :
The device is still a great piece of technology, every software has bugs in it at the start! Don't get dissapointed because there are some minor glitches in the software, most of them will be fixed within 7 days from now (Update).

Live wallpaper stops on switching between screens

Can't turn on GPU 2D Rendering.
Can't turn on Animation once unchecked.

heating issues..? over heating of device, turning off sim/phone services after certain temperature, not letting charge, etc... many guys complained about this.. very sad...

When i use the power button to turn off the screen it occasionaly turns on to the lockscreen after 0.5 seconds; Not always, normally when the screen was on for a longer time.
Glitches all over the place...
backlight not stable on light grey picture. (With my device i noticed it when i searched a grey pic on google, and zoomed in, the backlight flickered 1 second to "settle" after that it was good). On full birghtness i didn't had the probleme.

I am not satisfied with that phone.
It is not fast and laggy sometimes.
Multitasking button is not responding a lot.
When open some apps with black background, the resolution of the black color background sucks and shows blurry lines. It appears when adding gmail account.
I tried talking Tom and i found that it is working slower than in sensation and lags a lot.
I hate sense and i like to see AOSP Rom soon.

I'm glad I didn't buy this phone yet. Every day that goes by, I want this phone less and less seriously. I think I'm gonna wait for the Galaxy SIII. I'm sure I won't be disappointed with it. I refuse to spend money on a high end phone to see many glitches and lag at launch, even if it is fixable with ROMs and kernels, you shouldn't have to do that . Come one HTC

I'm not sure

HTC better not play any silly games with these OTA and keep pushing the date back, this dire battery life isn't fit for purpose right now.

Yes you have be be glad because u didn't buy it.
Sense 4.0 really looks ugly except the clock and it also consumes the battery life.
The dialer also looks very bad.
Why does HTC love this old green color over the awesome blue one released as default by google?

I hear what you guys are saying. The only issue i've seen that really concerns me is this glitching i keep reading about. Although I did see a review from netbooknews.de that had this issue with noticeable lag in the multitasking button and screen taps.
I would love to say that you don't have to worry about it but the reality is that you probably won't see a fix till CM9 is released or some other AOSP build.

Instead of slating it immediately, how about trying to use it as stock/unrooted, like the way you received it. Your sig says you've already rooted and flashed a different ROM - how do you know it's not the alternative ROM giving the grief.

Sadly this isn't the problem in most of the cases. Until now only Sense 3.0 costum roms are available, the issue is however that all this roms are BASED on the stock rom (because devs don't have acces to scource code of Sense 3.0).
A lot of issues you experience in the costum roms are caused by bugs in the code of Sense. But this isn't always the case ofcourse! Let's hope HTC fixes them soon.

I agree that this phone isn't as snappy as I had hoped, its much the same as running sense 4.0 on my sensation.
That said, I got the DHD on release, and there were plenty of bugs, same with the sensation.
In the end, the hardware is top notch, the software will get sorted over time. It's the price we pay for being early adopters of a new model.

I lol'd... Well just go buy your sgs3 or whatever then. Why did you choose this fone? Had you not experienced sense 4.0 in your previous fone? Maybe you hadn't rooted that one, who knows. Or maybe, just like my wife, your not happy unless you got somethin to ***** about.

Amen to the above.
One more thing: the annoying menu button also appears on some native ICS apps, like the YouTube app...

Definitely looks spectacular, I'll probably try it out and get back. Hope you get the WiFi and such worked out, will post back after test running
ok - not to be a **** or anything but this begs the question:
Why do you WANT blur on your phone? Everyone i know with a blurred motorola phone struggles to make it blurless and wants to remove that crap as much as possible - it is a serious detriment to performance and battery life.

yea im aware of the many issues, i still have alot of work left with this rom, about landscape mode it should be working just fine even with the keyboard out, also the browser im not sure as i havent fixed wifi so i cant use the internet on the rom. And yes i figured gps was not working again iv got no internet so i have no way of fixing that, i need wifi for that XD. anyways im glad you guys like it.

Because this version of blur is different from the others and better, and well because we on the g2 forums deserve variety, other than the 3 classic roms, sense,cm7 or miui. And no i dont think this rom will drain that much battery or affect performance, our gpu's beats the crap out of the omap that the droids have.
Also found that when calling someone it will restart the phone and it will keep you on the call till the os finishes reloading.

i'm guessing this is based on the Droid X GB leak - the blur is different than the blur on 2.2? My girlfriend was running stock 2.2 on the DX and getitng like 12 hrs of battery life. Then running Liberty 2.1 (blurless 2.2 based) she was getting 24 hours +. I flashed her over to the Liberty GB alphas (has a lot of blur in it) and have yet to see how the batt life is.
What i do know is that if you look @ running services (on the DX Liberty GB) and use an app like autostarts to see the on startup apps - blur has a whole ton of blur stuff that runs in the background from startup on - unrelated to ui changes and widgets.
What i fail to understand is not manufacturer ui (which differentiates) but why it has to be baked in so deep into the OS and kernel that it makes it impossible to remove if - god forbid - you want a more stock experience.
I have a lot of respect for any dev who brings more variety and software choice for our phones and i dont mean to undermine his work. I guess i just get pissed that companies like motorola make it so hard to go stock (particularly mess with that damned bootloader) that they would rather u ruin your device (i soft bricked my gf's droid x once and the only way to get back to stock is a complete SBF flash - a rare turn of events that i've never had the displeasure of running into on an HTC phone).
On a related note to this ROM, i noticed on Liberty GB (but not on Liberty 2.x) you can remove stuff from the notification area because there is a minus button (ie you dont have to clear all notifications or click on the notification itself to clear it - there is a button that enables its removal). Is this part of blur? I'd love to see this ported to AOSP.

[Q] Live wallpaper problem

Some of the live wallpapers freeze while scrolling through the homescreen. The wallpaper is meant to continue animating when scrolling, however, mine seem to stop while scrolling, then continue to animate again after the scroll..
Anyone else have the same problem?
It works fine on other launchers, just not on HTC Sense launcher.
P.S. And also, the 'Beam' wallpaper is listed in live wallpaper menu, but it doesn't seem to animate at all?
just have a look to a lot of threads here..

Why should we have to wait for a update!
I just bought this phone and notice that the live wallpapers no NOT work correctly and lags bad..
This is outrageous for a £499 phone. This should be working.
Not Impressed at all. I paid out right for this phone and think i have been over done.
Was expecting alot more! and less bug free
It's only been released bugs are expected. All devices have some form of issues and us as early adopters have to face them. Sure this will be fixed in a future OTA.
I can understand small bugs on new phones, But all the live wallpaper's not working is a joke!

Yes but making a phone call is the whole point of having a phone it's a phone.
Live Wallpapers is not a big issue comparing to making calls, it will get fixed.
I know we've spent X amount on purchasing the phone but it's a software bug and these happen on all phones.
HTC should have tested all these issues before putting them on the market it's their fault and they'll have to fix it.
I tried it with other launchers like Apex and nova. It seems a problem of Sense 4.

[Video] Firmware 2.15.401.5

I haven't noticed any videos of the latest test firmware (2.15) floating anywhere around so i thought i would do those none-rooted users a favor and show you a short demonstration of what kind of smooth UI us rooted users are experiencing in contrast to the IMO laggy UI we have on 1.26~1.29 roms. This is actually one of my first videos ever and i hardly even ever use a camera other than the one on my HOX to record videos. So yeah! I hope the clip i've uploaded for demonstration purposes is clear enough. Really there is little to no lag at all
Take a look for yourself.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2gq_TEkaDA
p.s: this is on maximus rom v2.2 by Football
And oh yeah, i do go into screen-on time in the video, but don't worry the battery life shown isn't what it should be. It has more to do with the fact that i reflashed the rom and had a few calls + listened to over 40 minutes of music today. I believe in total i'd have nearly 2 hours screen time by now if i hadn't restarted or reflashed.
Whatever!
With the song this video makes it seem as if it is being fast forwarded, but it isn't

Well, from what i've been informed the firmware itself actually has that implemented. However, it was not enabled by HTC. So although it is actually implemented by HTC, it was disabled and one of the devs had to re-enable it.

see, i had a one x.. rooted unlocked and was running the 2.05 arhd rom.. then i tried going back to stock and locking the bootloader and saw that it showed "relocked" and not "locked" so i used the 30 day replacement policy my store offered and got a new one and im running it stock now.
i dont wanna pay for any repairs i might have to do at the HTC service center just because i "voided my warranty"

HTC One X running Android 4.1.1 with HTC Sense 4.5 by football

im sorry if this a bit inconvenient but FOOTBALL just released a video on his rom showing the new jellybean update with sense 4.5
and i just wanted to share it with everybody else

all credits goes to football and all the amazing developers on XDA
looking good every thing works nearly apart from phone / gps / internet sharing which is good
It seems good
Looks great, not too dissimilar to the 4.04 w/ sense 4.5 leak that I'm currently running but jellybean is a welcome addition

Interesting, but HTC realy realy needs to do something about the RAM management,i mean, this is not multitasking present on the phone, feels like i'm using Iphone 3G with the unoficial multitasking app again...This is the first thing HTC must concentrate on.
I'm hoping for a larger contact display during calling. The one in stock JB looks awesome

The play store has a number of alternative browsers. With Android, you're free to choose.
Users have great hope from 4.5 , let's c what HTC do to retain it
Football u are great man.
Following things still remain a ques -
1)Is Sense 4.5 jelly bean smooth though 4.1 is already working like charm but it can still be better :good:
2) Is the people app changed, means does the Pic looks 720p really?
3) Multitasking still not there, really annoying. I dont get why HTC cant still get this right.
Gallery looks good.
Football can you please share a changelog, atleast what you see and feel
Not one of them supports multiple exchange accounts AND proper server search. I've tried them all.....
I just can't see why HTC don't bother to fix the rendering issue. All other clients render the right size but on sense email it looks like it was made for near blind people.

What is the problem with multitasking? For me it works perfectly

Everytime you exit an app it clears the cache files which means the app has to reload, when on web browser this is particularly annoying as say I want to leave a page up for when I'm on.break at work with no data connection, when I come back to it it reloads meaning I now can't read it. HTC have messed it up big time with me, I am going either sgs3 or lumia 920 in the next month

Fair enough. s/browser/email\ client

Google has nailed it with 4.2! :D

So after a couple of hours (20+ hours ) i have used stock 4.2 with root. No other modifications.
What I think:
-excellent speed, no lag or slowdowns
-excellent battery life with the new kernel
-the colors of the screen are much better!
-lovely new camera app
Everything is just perfect. What do you guys think of 4.2?

I love it! It's really fast, smooth and stable. Not a single problem in now almost two days. I like new additions, I got used to them right away. But, I've mentioned this before, the new "recent apps" is bothering me. It's really, really bothering me. I like that I can use the recent apps button while in-app to close it, but it stops right there. It's buggy like hell and it makes me feel like I'm on a nightly ROM each time I close an app. And I preferred the transparent look from 4.1. I seriously hope they'll fix it soon. Argh.
But, nevertheless, I love 4.2 - it's amazing.

There are some CM10 features I miss, and I would love a new kernel.
But yes, I love it too
Well, everything is perfect expect 3 things.
1. lockscreen is a fail... o.o... after i slide to other widget page do something and come back to page where i can unlock my device i have to press a button to get the lockring? O.O also when i resize widgets i gets the lockring to another page and doesnt save the resize wtf really?
2. recent apps is cool, but its laggy. swiping apps is laggy, dont know why? hope we get the fix soon
3. power widgets at notifaction thing is not really widgets. example: if i press wifi toggle, it doesnt turn off or on wifi, it just takes you to wifi settings where you cant turn wifi on or off

They didn't update the kernel, AFAIK. For example, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34085781&postcount=97

of course they updated the kernel! look at the build date! and if nothing changed from the previous kernel, they could have used that one. they used a new one, and there are new changes. look at the 4.2 kernel source and you'll see
Not entirely they fubar'd the internal sdcard. Now everytime you flash a new ROM it will create a new partition in the /sdcard/ titled /0/ and you're f'd if you need a backup because thats in /sdcard/ while you're in /sdcard/0/0 :S

The more I look at it, the more I believe that is not 4.2's fault, but the recovery's fault. They need to be updated.

I think it's rom fault because of the introduction of profiles!

For myself I won't say never, but stock isn't a bad experience now ugly color is fixed, better signal for me, and quick settings aren't that bad like many people claim... ^_^ I'm happy with stock for the next time also the other features like the keyboard slide thing is nice, and let us not forget photo sphere ^^ all in Google did a big step forward, like they did with the first jelly bean version ^^

You seem to not understand. The WiFi just shows which WiFi you are connected to. Only actually toggles there are airplane mode, bluetooth and brightness.
And you also seem a bit confused to the lock screen as well. But I'll let you figure that out

Guys I see many of you have lags and bugs, i suggest to wipe everything before flashing, that's what I did and I have no lag or bugs in recent apps or elsewhere...and I'm usually very picky about lags and framerate drops...really 4.2 is as smooth or better than 4.1.2 here...gmail and recent apps are smoother than ever, facebook feed scrolling is finally totally smooth, and generally 4.2 feels fast and solid, I see some nice tweaked animations here and there...
That being said I expected much more from the google development team, sure WP8 lacks a solid ecosystem, but the os itself has some cool features that I'd like to see on android...like the all in one chat app, or the app-personalized lockscreen...our lockscreen widgets can't even compare to that...seems like android team is out of imagination and is just implementing small and not useful things here and there instead of pushing boundaries

So...basically you want them to push boundaries but manage to release a very stable and solid ROM, sometimes as soon as a few months after the last release (4.0>4.1>4.2 in less than a year)? I somehow have a feeling if they had revolutionized the OS but couldn't manage to smooth out a few bugs, you'd be on here hating them for not releasing a stable ROM. I think maybe you should start deving and realize the time and effort it takes to bring new features with true stability.

Don't you think it's slightly unfair to expect so much from a point release?
