Flash Player on CM9 - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys.
I was wondering if it possible to run Flash Player on CM9.
I cannot access many of the websites unless i downlaod flash player.
When I download it, it still doesn't work.
Is it a problem with the lib files or anything else?
Please help!!!!!

It has to due with the lack of hardware acceleration in current ICS Roms. Check out the Development forum; user Hashcode is working on a fix. He's made some amazing headway so far but it's not yet known how long it will be until hw acceleration is fixed.

Hello,
Just want to make sure I understand. Adobe Flash will not work (in browser or otherwise) in an ICS Rom for the KF until the hardware acceleration issue has been addressed in a working 3.x kernel. Is that correct? Thanks for the help.

LMAO. A lot has happened since then. Look around.

Ok I might have been a bit unclear. I was meaning flash player for HTC legend which uses CM9 Beta. Didn't know that CM9 is already out.

You might be better off asking in the HTC Legend forums, not these since they're for the Kindle Fire. As far as the Kindle Fire goes, Flash works fine for any of the CM9 or AOKP roms using the 3.0 kernel.

Why are you posting HTC Legend questions in the Kindle Fire forums?

Well when I was going to post my thread this one came up as similar suggested. I did not know it was in another forum.

working on mik cm7.1 6.5.8 rom in stock "browser". On pulse news reader and cracked app (funny articles hit it up)
Edit: Seems in the application menu its version is 11..... but on adobe's site it is 10.3...., am not entirely sure why that is but for m anyway it seems to run smoother, plus you get adobe settings in app draw which I didn't have in 10.2 (10.3 didn't work for me )

If you read through the forum, basically it's 10.3 libs wrapped in 11.0 wrapper, but works extremely well. Go to Dr. Oz or some website that has embedded video now... Now install and try same See what I mean.

no it doesn't. tells you that you need to install flash player, and links you to flash 11 on the market. nice find tho, and i may as well keep it (thanks to the "setInstallLocation 2" tip, it's on my sd card now, so it's not like its taking up space
I can get iplayer to load but it plays like a slide show. I am using the stable cm7.
As i have stated in other threads, BBC IPLAYER did work using this version of flash and cm7 beta 1 however, whence i swithched to cm7 stable it lost its flash capabilities.
Alquez thinks its kernel related. I would love flash working.
Will try this. Thanks

Already in a screenie.
Hey guys,
There have been updates on this app since, but there seems to be a common challenge. Flash wants to peep out its libs in data instead of system. The solution is to copy the libs both places. One can choose to use symlinks to data and it has worked if any of you space saver devs cares for tip. I hope someone will go seek out such new updates and trump this thread so it may fade. Won't have time to administrate it further.
Thanks,
Rob
So there is any new flash working better with OC'ed Roms? I really wanna watch tv shows on phone but stream is so slow and fps low.
thanx buddy
Wow! Thanks a lot for the link dude, between this, my new ROM, and OC kernel - I actually love my phone now - hated it when I got it stock lol...
great job guys
Thanks man working very well.............
Working on ICS?
Thanks guys
Not working on CM9 RC2
Heh.. graphics will be called into question for armv6 on ics and beyond.. I'm sure you've read of the omax il challenges [typically referenced for camera].. Well to get ics working, hal must be rebuilt and other standards used.. Thus this device doesn't have an official cm9rc2 that I'm aware of. On unofficial versions, consult the dev who made it; as, they will know what workaround method was implored.

MOD EDIT/NOTICE: You all accept the risks of flashing this - anyone caught complaining, flaming or idiot posting will receive a 24 hr ban. Off topic will also be subject to the same.
Here is the system dump & custom TAR of the ICS XXKP8 ROM that was leaked for the international version. This version will boot on our phones but without a CDMA kernel, there will no data, wifi, CWM, etc, so this is meant for DEVS\POWER USERS ONLY to play with.
DO NOT TRY FLASHING THESE FILES UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING, DON'T COMPLAIN IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO REVERT TO A WORKING ROM AS YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

interesting, thanks for this. how far do you suppose we are from a somewhat functional ICS build?
ninja edit: first!
Oh man, thing's are getting hot in the kitchen.
So just a quick question: Why wont this won't brick our phones? Why have their been so many people with bricked phones for flashing international ROMs?
Other then that, awesome work. Just saw your Stock EL29 repack. Youre on fire !
Sweet, great job calkulin... you the man.

This is a good starting point. We need to someone who can hack the 2.3 kernel to run Android 4.0

Because this is just the kernel & system files. If they flashed the complete tar(modem, bootloader, etc), then they definitely will cause a lot of issues
When you get that one bastardized kernel, it'll be good for all international ports to use for awhile til we get source
Has anyone been able to DL the .tar?

It has it's issues, front cam doesn't work(main cam works tho), rotation is inverted, no data, no wifi, etc but at least we get a feel for what the official ICS update will be like once it's released. If we get a working kernel, then fixing those issues wouldn't be that hard as I have fixed them before on the EVO ports but until we get a kernel, I'm not even going to start trying

Yep, although if you wait for it to unfreeze, you can then move around momentarily, before it freezes again...so far I can see that it DOES NOT have the face unlock, and other than settings, popup\menus and the Gmail app, which you can notice a difference right away, even without emails in it, it looks pretty much the same being that its TWIZ and not AOSP!

For many many reasons, not least of which was no significant progress towards ICS (which at that point needed CM7 as a prerequisite). Hopefully with the system files maybe someone can drag up that kernel and see if they can be made to work together but I think it is a CM kernel and I'm not sure that could be made to play with this...

[MOD]Upgrading OpenGL to 2.0

Hi guys!.Managed to add OpenGL 2.0 driver support to our Heroes.Don't expect any miracles, our GPU can't support everything, that requires 2.0 graphics. The mod increases display performance, gives a high boost to Android 4.0 ROMs(turns on hardware accelerating) and maybe helps in some games. For those, who want to try it,flash attach from CWM Recovery(zip is not signed). In case if something goes wrong or you want to turn it off just delete file data/local.prop

Or something like that.On our local forum almost all testers on ICS reported, that their phones become much more fast and responsive.I tried it myself on ZeroHero,it increased scrolling speed a bit
I tried it on ICS now, and I got to say, it's a HUGE improvement! Really! Of course, it's not like VE, but for example pulling down the pulldownbar is about as smooth as it's possible. With this mod I think I can use ICS as a daily!

How to improve CyanogenMod based ROMs' filming quality?

Hi peep. I decided to start this thread because I don't wanna go OffTopic in the CM10 Quarx thread.
The fact is that I own a RedLense Defy, and since the first time I had it, I always tried to use Cyanogen. It was first the CM7 release, CM7.1, Cm7.2, now CM10 Quarx and Epsylon3... and in all the CMod ROM's I've had, they have the same trouble: filming quality is not good at all.
The only ROM that fit my necessities about the Defy's camera, is Walter's MS2GINGER. He did a great work there, and I've been using it for some months so far. But is a stock-based ROM (thats maybe the reason of why does it works there).
I would love to have a Cyanogen ROM with a nice filming quality. Even if its not 720p, at least a good wide 480p image. The first thing I've obviously tried is moving libraries from the "HD" zip to CM, the media XML, and some build.prop configs, but nothing happened (bootloop). So I ended thinking: its imposible to use those on CM.
So did someone try to improve filming in CyanoGen? Do anyone of you know a way to make it work, or the reason of why is it impossible on Cyanogen?
Thanks.

It means that it is POSSIBLE, I guess. :victory: And I totally think so, I don't believe a locked bootloader can make it all imposible for those with an advanced knowledge on linux and Android development.
But isn't any developer actually focused on the camera here? I searched on the forum but didn't found anything. I mean yeah, they are all fighting with the bootloader, but not to make a better camera so far.

Ok I guess I'll have to say bye to a CyanoGen MOD with a proper camcorder. Stock's the choice for me.

First ICS rom with all features (including CAMCORDER)

Hello people!
I don't know why, but does anyone noticed that here on XDA is ICS rom for HTC Desire that has everything working properly (at least for me)???
HTC DESIRE-AOKP-milestone 6 by pratheek1992 is best one I tried.
You can find him here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867046.
Camera and camcorder WORKS
This is my 'configuration':
HTC Desire (Bravo) PVT-4 SLCD
HBOOT: Stock Alpharev Hboot
Recovery: 4Ext Recovery.
SD: Transcend 8 GB Class 6 ( I took 512 MB EXT3 Partition)
After I flashed rom, I picked Touchwiz launcher and set all necessary things about google account.
I tried apps, (first camera and camcorder) and they work very well. This rom is still under development, but i'm impressed that we're having everything functional.
P.S. Thank You pratheek1992!
EDIT: I used Mount2SD script with Aroma Installer, I have choosen Apps and Dalvik to Ext, untick Safe Mode.
Sandvold's ICS looks like feature complete and working too...
... though I still don't have enough courage to install any ICS ROM on my main and only Desire, sticking with gb custom rom

Yes it does, but built in camcorder and videoplayback not working (truth is that they work with 3rd apps).
In this AOKP rom built-in ICS camcorder works. Maybe video playback is a little bit laggy, but works better than Sandvold's.
I'm greateful to Sandvold, his rom is amazing, but these "little" features were important to me for choosing ICS rom.

All critics are good.
You don't need to jump from 10th floor to know that you're gonna die.
My suggestion to you, search Desire thread a little bit (especially Q&A section) and see how many problems ICS/JB caused lately then start praising around. People here are, hopely, mature and don't need anybody to praise them and make them gods, especially recognised developers.

It's not about any recognised developer, this is not any praising. It's objective feedback of using someone's rom, This feedback could help someone. And please, who are you to lecture me?? This is about rom, not about me or you. Neither you tried it and you're telling me about it.
I was talking about the latest version of Sandvold's package.
Do not know but Sandvold declares what's working, i.e.:
- Full hwa
- Camera+preview+panorama + video working
- HW accelration
- Video streaming and playback
... you tried it and found any bug? Report it, please... as I would like to know it (and reconsider my decision about using that package in the future).

Sandvold wrote that more than 6 month ago. Camera works. HWA works. Video recording and video playback not working (FCs or disorted or artefacts on screen). It can be fixed by using some 3rd part programs. For example: for video recording you can use program Video Illusion from Store and for video playback you can use MX Player also from Store. In AOKP this working properly.
Developers are planning to solve problem with camcorder and playback with porting Kernel 3.0, but it seems that this is (more than partially)solved by AOKP ported rom which I mentioned in first post.
MIUIv4 with miui gb camera (THIS ONE ONLY!) can record videos without funny weird output and also have HWA.
