Hi
My current Jabra Arrow Bluetooth headset doesn't work with the sgs2 voice dialing (Voice Talk). I can fire up Voice Talk from the headset, but the sound/voice from Voice Talk doesn't appear in the headset.
Anyone who can recommend a good Bluetooth Headset for sgs2 that works flawless with Voice Talk?
I have got SE MW600. I love it. I haven't used the voice talk option as it doesn't support Finnish. But I can try it for you.
How do I fire it up? I heard you should be able to do it by saing hello galaxy but it won't launch. First have to start it? Does it stay in the background after that eating my battery?
Thanx!
Just hold down the button on your headset, that should fire up Voice Talk!
Good news about the mw600. Mine arrives tomorrow

MW600. Stand alone FM radio, long battery life (for bluetooth), v good quality audio, tiny and light, supports track ID, voice calling. Not a great clip or volume adjustment. Overall the best. Buy it, end of.
Yes, yes, yes: The recommendation of MW600 is overwhelming
But, please, spell it for me: Does the MW600 work flawless with Voice Talk? Is it actually possible to hear the voice from Voice Talk in the earplug and can you command the phone (dialing contacts) from the headset without problems?
Yes it does, you can hear confirmation through the bluetooth headset on the MW600. I bought a Blueant T1 today and it also works with confirmation over bluetooth headset.
The T1 also works by just saying "hey galaxy" not sure about mw600.
Sometimes the T1 says "this feature is not supported on this handset" but you can still call people through voice command. It also gets a bit annoying having to say voice command and waiting for the T1 to say "activating voice commands on the connected headset" then saying call contact.
Thanx, that was just the answer I was hoping for! Unfortunately I can't get the Blueant T1 here in Denmark, but Ebay might be my friend
I presently have the Sony which works very well with the G2x, but I would prefer a cord-free unit and so got the Nokia BH-505. My SGS2 will be arriving on Friday, and I am hoping the Nokia would rock with this phone.

Voyager Pro+ which is available on amazon is the best bluetooth headset which allows multipoint and a2dp as well. I might have used 13 or 14 headsets and this is the best even for noise cancellation, one word amazing.
VJ
I have had no joy with a Motorola H700 and a BlueParrot VXi Expressway. When initiating a call by pressing the button on the headset the audio/mike used is the one on the phone, and not on the headset.
I cannot believe Samsung still has this problem: a couple of years ago I had an Omnia and only a custom ROM with a different Bluetooth stack solved the problem. My last 2 HTC phones worked flawlessly...
This is an important security issue for me, and if anyone has information on what can be done ( I am new to Android) I would appreciate it. When I call using my VXi my callers can never detect I am on a cellphone:noise cancelling on this unit is outstanding, and I want to continue using it.
But if I find nothing to solve this I will have to go with one of the headsets confirmed to work in the maner they should...
BlueAnt Q2
it even come with an Android app
Currently have problems with Plantronics Discovery 975, low quality and stuttering sound. (Not what you asked about but perhaps don't try this unit!)
I have found a workaround to enable Voice Dialing and Digit Dialing from a Bluetooth Headset on my SGS2:
I purchased Cyberon Voice Commander and Titanium backup from the Market.
Titanium backup anables me to <freeze> the vLingo Voice Command so that it disappears from the installed apps, and installing Cyberon enables everyting I want:
- Tapping the button on the headset starts Voice Commander
- Bluetooth headset is connected to Audio and Mic
- I can say: "Call Jim", or "Digit Dial 8045551212", or "What time is it", etc.
The number of available commands is not as numerous as I had under Winmo and Microsoft VoiceCommand, but it suits me for now and the recognition rate is 99.99% with my Vxi Headset.
Be aware that this breaks all VLingo Voice Recognition apps in the phone because <it is no longer there>.
What I would prefer, and will continue searching for, is to have the headset button start Cyberon Voice Commander (since it handles the bluetooth stack correctly), while leaving VLingo active for other applications.
I am sure there is a setting somewhere that controls what application is started when the Headset button is tapped.
Of course none of this would be required if VLingo handled the Bluetooth headset correctly...
Hi, just to let you know. I ended up buying a BlueAnt Q2 headset, and it just works without problems with voice talk!
Thank you for all your Help!

Seems like the T1 would be superior to the Q2 thanks to the noise reduction; is this right?
I'm convinced enough to buy ONE of the Blueants.

Q2 & T1 are top of the line
T1 is though because it's rugged & have slightly better battery life but it has simple voice commands
remember T1 doesnt come with ear hook so you can't attach it to your ear...
you can get a sweet deal on ebay for the Q2

Thanks garden jean,
I lost something in translation though...
It seems to me that both come with voice control (is one better than the other?), both have ear hooks (according to Amazon), so the differences are that the Q2 (Edit: sorry, T1) is rugged and the T1 has noise cancellation.
Is that right?
Can anyone say which they think is best from a usability point of view?
Hi
Are there any headphones / earphones which have a remote control for music control. There are loads of them for the iPhone, but any of them that is compatible with the SGS2?

I'm using "Headset Button Controller" to control a pair of iPhone headphones.
It only works with the center button, but it supports single/double/triple key presses. So it controls: start/stop, and advance to the next song, as well and answer/disconnect incoming calls.
If u r looking for bluetooth ones, just make sure they support AVRCP.
If u r looking for wired ones, most of those vol+/- buttons won't work, but yes, still are compatible.

Posted this on the other thread. Might be of interest to you:
I have a pair of Beats by Dre with Control Talk (for iphone/ipod) and the functionality is the same. The play/pause button works but the vol up/down buttons don't.
Also, I have a pair of Shure 215. They are more bass-prominent than "signature Shure" sound but they don't muffle mids and highs like the Beats do. Anyway, I found these from Earphonesolutions after I got a SGS2.
SHURE SE215A ANDROID & BLACKBERRY COMPATIBLE EARPHONES
(not letting me post a link due to my low post count)
The description says works with "most Android phones" so I guess they're not guaranteeing anything. Too bad I got a pair of those without the buttons before I got the phone. But I thought it might interest some people.
HTC headphone are working great (with all buttons). You can find them anywhere on the internet..
STIL...if i remember well, they are fully working with certain kernels.
Ițm using Nimphetaminețs kernels
I use the Zagg Smartbuds witch works great.
I have a set of the bose ear bud headphones that worked unbelievably on my HTC HD2's and the answer button worked too. with the sII, nothing buttons work and the volume is pretty low.
could an app fix that?
Hey, found this piece of gadgetry - Etynomic MC2. Looks promising, any ideas from anyone about how these are. Apparently they have an Android remote.

I've had the old school Etymotics back in the past, they were great sounding, especially in the high end and mids. However, Etymotics are known to skim on the low end, so if you are a bass thumper, I would avoid unless you can tune the EQ like in Poweramp.
Not sure about the remote working with Android, I've had good customer experience with them, so I think what is listed on their site is true. Though I would email them beforehand to make sure.
Sorry double posting
I am using SE MW600, it can skip to the previous or next track, play and pause, show you the song title, and also show you the phone no of the incoming or outgoing call. The sound quality is good. you should try it out.
I heard Klipsch S4i works well .. I dont have so I cant confirm just browse through the forum you will get it
Can anyone recommend headphones with media controls that works well with our ET4G?
Any of the Bluetooth Motorola ones work great. My current pair are a set of Motorola Rokr that I picked up for about $30 from Verizon via slick deals...
Ok so I did some research and found Klipsch Image S4a Premium Noise-Isolating Headset. Anyone have any experience with these? Does it work with our phones?
I have been trying for the life of me to get my controls on my headphones to work and nothing works I have a pair of Beats, Skull candy, Bose, and Sony and none of them are working for me.

I have these and they're awesome. http://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-B...N9OK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1317520014&sr=8-2
The volume, pause, track skip work great on the regular media player and also Spotify.
SOL Republic ear phones don't work.

I have the S4 and the sound (for buds) is really good. The S4A is supposed to have media controls specifically for android phones/players as the S4i is incompatible.
I would bet the S4A would be good.

I don't think you had the s4a's... they just came out like a few days ago. I have some on the way from Crutchfield, shipped out yesterday. Will post a review when I get them.
For those who are unfamiliar, they're supposed to work with a special Klispsch android app to enable full media control, volume up/down, play, pause, track forward and back, voice search.
I've been using Altec Lansing bluetooth stereo headphones which also have media controls which work well, but I've decided bluetooth stereo is just a useless hassle, wired is better overall.
MotoRokr is excellent with this phone. Works flawlessly. Oh, no special software needed to use them. They have HD sound out of the box.
I am waiting for these to be released:
http://www.jays.se/products/earphones/a-jays-one-plus.html
Supposedly going to be in the $50 range, like the s4a's it's going to have an android app for controls.
Don't work with beats by Dre studios. But Bluetooth controls work with my lg hbs.

Quick update, I received my Klipsch S4a headphones and while they have good sound quality I can't get the "media controls" to work at all. The Klipsch Android app doesn't seem to work with this phone.
Essentially the headphones have just 1 button same as most headphones. The Klipsch app is supposed to enable control using various button click combos, example 1 click pause/resume, 2 clicks next track, continuous press to adjust the volume etc.
However on the E4GT I think the voice control app intercepts the button presses and the Klipsch app doesn't do anything. A long press simply launches voice command.
I haven't been able to find any way to make it work... hmmm. Disappointing.
S4A does jack sht for us..

Hell yeah it's disagoddamnpointing. I just picked up a pair of S4As I ordered from Crutchfield, total bust and exactly as you have described. The Android app does nothing and all that happens is we can launch voice commands.
On Android Market they mention this "The default media player on the following devices are not compatible and require a 3rd party media app for full functionality: Samsung Infuse, Samsung Galaxy S 4G, Motorola Atrix (List subject to change.)"
They also go on to list, "The follwing music apps have been tested and compatibility confirmed: Google Music, Amazon MP3, Pandora, Last.fm, Slacker (List subject to change.)"
Might as well just add the GSII Epic 4G Touch to a special FULLY incompatible list.

Which Model of the MotoRkr? S9, S10, S305?
I picked up the Sony Ericsson MW600. Not only do you get bluetooth, you can use any earphones you want and have complete control over the phone and media. There is a mic on it so you don't have to worry about having a separate pair of earphones with a mic. And you can hook it up to multiple sources. I can listen to music on my Xoom and talk on my E4GT when a call comes in with a touch of a button.

Can anyone suggest a BT headset that gives good sound quality and noise reduction?
I have a Blueant Q2 and it's a PoS. It doesn't tell me who's calling, for a start; and because it's so 'clever', if I want to call someone I have to say "Phone commands", wait a bit, then say "Call person". So an extra step for no reason.
I am looking for one that I can press the button and it'll start up Voice Dial (or whatever it's called). All the name recognition etc can be done by the phone, thanks very much.
Does the Jawbone require this extra step/awkward faffing about?
Any others?
Thanks.
I am using Sonyericsson MW600 with my phone, it works great with music anyway. The song title show's on the display... I presume that the contact name will show on the display as well.
Havent made a phone call with it yet so that part I cant tell but I guess it work great there too.

Stock ROM probably won't do it (may need CM7) and even it if does, the stock music player is about the only one that passes the track info to the device.

Plantronics Voyager 855 is a combination of a standard-looking BT earpiece with a second earpiece unit that plugs into the first via a thin nylon reinforced cable to create stereo BT headset. I have owned at least 30 or 35 BT headsets and this is the best one I've had for sound quality, ease of pairing, long battery life, etc. Try Amazon: w w w .amazon.com/gp/product/B000UBNFT2/ref=oh_o03_s00_i01_details

You mean like any bluetooth stereo headphones? I'm pretty certain no wired headset will do this because the headphone jack doesn't support it.
There are quite a few standalone bluetooth stereo receivers around that you can plug generic headphones or a stereo line-out into though. I prefer the Jabra BT-3030 'dogtag' receivers, but there are plenty of others around. Just do a search on Froogle, Buy.com or any other big electronics site and you'll find them. The only real difference between them all is battery life and sound quality, they all have media player controls using standard Bluetooth profiles and they all include a condenser mic built-in.
No, I was talking about a button on the wired headphone, like the Galaxy S, to skip track, answer call, those sort of things.
From what LG answered me, it's not possible...
Downer there :|
Finaly found a spare pair of headphones from a Galaxy, with the button for the media controller.
Turns out, it works!
Long press opens voice control,
short press starts media player
two short press skips the track when playing.
There must be a standard for Android, I'll try to find the list tomorow and test it out, but anyway, good thing it works.
Anyway, good things it works! I'm running a lot, long distance, and it'll screw up any bluetooth, even S-10 (my current pair had some issue but cleaned up after drying in rice), so the good ol' button hearphones with the media controller is the best for me!
I've ordered a "seperate" microphone with a button and the input, I'll test and let you know!
I just bought some a-JAYS One+ for about 60$ The remote works with the Optimus G and most android phones.
The remote lets you:
Skip tracks
FF / Rwind
Play / Pause
Volume up / Down
Pick up calls
The sound quality is actually very good especially for bass junkies like myself. Not to mention the sleek swedish design.
I absolutely recommend them to anyone out there.
Cheers!

it is not a Android feature, it is just the the extra rim on the 3.5 headphone minijack that adds controls to it. and Android have adapted it. like micro USB for charging and connecting.

Well, I tried with my old Nokia N95 headset which has play, forward, volume, etc. And it did not work as expected, some buttons work as a single button headset. Also bought a Samsung headset (could not find LG headsets) with a button and volume control and the volume control does not work, the volume up key replicates the button.
So it is not that standard.
Or is there an app to activate the volume and multimedia buttons on those headsets?
