[Q] Nexus randomly speaking (TTS) - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Recently I've run into a strange issue where my Galaxy Nexus will randomly start narrating itself. If anyone has used the TTS service under 'accessibility', it's similar to that. Whenever I open up an app it'll start reading what's on the page. The problem is, I have no way of turning it off. Under settings, I've turned off TTS, but it still does that.
Has anyone run into that problem?

Pandora keeps shutting down on new Nexus ICS , Verizon

Just got the Samsung Nexus ICS from Verizon the other day. Phone is still stock. Installed Pandora.
The issue: Playing Pandora for about 30 min or even 10 min the phone shuts off immediately and then turns back on. Does not even go back to playing music on Pandora. Right back to the first screen, password screen. Now I have played google music and this has not happened. I even un installed Pandora to troubleshoot which music engine is bugging. No issues with the phone after I un installed Pandora. I waited a full day then re installed Pandora and the issue has not gone away.
Talked to another forum member who has the same set up and he has had no issues with running Pandora.
Any suggestions.
Thanks

Pandora for me bugs out when trying to use it on ICS. It "sorta" works. I chock it up to not being ICS compatible.

No troubles running pandora here. AOKP with apex kernel. Maybe try fix permissions.
Mine works fine, try uninstalling and reinstalling the app.

I am running stock 4.0.2, rooted. Pandora is running fine on my Galaxy Nexus
I am running the GSM version. It streams fine over wifi and over the Cell network.
So, it doesn't look like the problem is ICS. It may be something specific with Verizon.
Are you playing over wifi, verizon CDMA, or LTE?
This may or may not be your issue. I've had a few apps crash on me. Turns out they didn't like the force 2d hardware rendering setting. Some apps don't crash but have other issues. Like tap-a-talk won't always show images with it turned on. If you have that on , you can try turning it off.

Pandora works fine for me with the screen on if I turn the screen off it cuts out from time to time. Sucks as I use it while working out and its driving me nuts. Any chance ICS is cutting CPU availability with the screen off and it impacts pandora?

I've had Pandora, Google Music, and Rhapsody all crash my phone a number of times: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1379600 . Not sure what the issue is.
I have no issues with streaming Pandora on my stock 4.0.2 Verizon GNex all day (8-10 hrs). Like someone else said, try uninstalling and reinstalling the app.

Could it be a Bluetooth problem?
I'm having the same issue with Pandora (and Stitcher). I use them on the drive to work with Ford Sync, and after a while the phone will restart. I think it may be a bluetooth problem because upon reboot, the bluetooth connection gets stuck and requires another boot once I get to my location.
The bluetooth incompatibility is a known issue and hopefully gets resolved soon
I'm running ARHD 6.04 (4.03 ICS) on Sensation.
It can be a hard hand off from LTE to CDMA 1X/EV-DO, even with eHRPD. The data connection actually stops before being picked up by the other network. If connection is lost, Pandora will pause itself. If it's in the background, it may be killed.
Just posted up my experience in this thread in the Q/A section:

I was told to try using Fix Permissions in RM, but ran into an issue with that as well.

Solved the Rom Manger Fix Permissions with this:
http://androidforums.com/899973-post26.html
woo, just a radio, still get lot to replace
Huh?
Anyway, Fix Permissions seemingly solved the problem for now... will update later.
So... One Pandora crash on 3G so far since Fix Permissions. Re-did the process and so far it has been holding again, for slacker and iheart too.
Pandora has done that on every phone I've had. That is why I don't use it anymore.

People have been seeing the GN do random reboots for awhile now, even when not using Pandora.
I've had it happen when the phone was just sitting there on the desk idle. I've had it happen during navigation with Google Maps. But it most frequently happens on Pandora.
There is a theory that it's a heat related issue. Basically that the phone is rebooting to protect itself.
There is some logic to that, as it seem to happen most frequently when I've got it plugged in charging and I'm streaming something to my phone (Pandora, Google Maps, etc).
It's apparently an issue Google is aware of, but that doesn't make it less frustrating.

I wish this were a more general reboot. The only other crash is get is with occasional flash videos, when trying to change the quality (youtube).
Otherwise, I have had NO OTHER RANDOM REBOOTS aside from Pandora/Slacker/iHeartRadio. Happening very frequently again. Is it just straight incompatibility? These apps are unusable and this is a heavy portion of what I use my phone for.
If it were heat, wouldn't all the games that leave my phone at hand-warmer status crash it? This does not happen for me. I explained very clearly when this issue was arising.

[Q] Nexus market problem

Hey guys I have found sometimes when I open the market app i will start typing to search for an app then all of a sudden it just goes back to the home screen. Does this happen to anyone else at all? I am on 4.01

Wrong app starting when selecting Google Music

Hi all,
I hope this issue has not been raised before, did not find anything with a search.
Sometimes I have the Issue that whenever I try to open the Google Music App, another App is opened (and if that happens, it is that app consistently regardless of how often I try to open Google Music).
If it happens, then it does not matter whether I open Google Music from the App Drawer, from the dockbar, or any other shortcut on the homescreen.
The problem is only fixed when the device is restarted. I went to the apps menu in settings and killed the app that opened (in this case it was the contacts app, in another case Foursquare) when I tried to open Google Music. Google Music was not open and not in the Cache. Still, issue remained until after a restart.
I have not yet found a way to replicate this behaviour in a consistent manner.
I am on 4.0.1, ITL41F.
Any ideas / comments?
Thanks,
Moritz
I had the same thing happen on my HTC Inspire. I think it is a problem with Google Music. My GNex has only done it once or twice.

Issue with losing data connection as soon as screen turns off

Hi all,
I have the strangest issue with my phone:
Whenever i'm streaming any music or podcasts on my phone (3g connection), the playback works perfectly for a couple of minutes and then it quits and does not resume until i turn the screen on again. As background, I was using the Android Revolution for a couple of months and was thinking that this might be caused by some sort of power saving feature, that cuts the data once the screen is turned off. I'm back to stock now and I'm still having the same issue. This is not application-related, since the same thing is happening with pocketcasts, spotify and google play music.
Can't find any other threads with the same kind of description of the issue, so I'm thinking I'm alone with the issue. The only thing I can think of would be my mobile service provider, but it makes no sense that the data connection would drop immediately when the screen is turned off. Also, the sleep mode has no effect on the issue.
Does anyone have any ideas!?
Try turning off SLEEP MODE from the power tab under settings.

Power Saver Mode (done by HTC) has an option that Disables data every time the screen goes off.
Although while I am streaming music on soundcloud , It still works with screen Off .

Just to let you guys know, that this was in fact caused by Android Revolution. I switched back to stock rom and was having issues with the play store not downloading apps that you have selected from the browser-based store. Had the same kind of issues with AR, so was thinking that the problem is still continuing. Used the stock rom over the weekend and noticed that even though i'm getting the random pause in music every now and then, the overall experience is way better.

Galaxy S20+ Sound stutter/lag when screen is off

Hi,
If I'm playing a song or in a call and turn the screen off, the sound starts to stutter/lag immediately and starts to work find as soon as the screen is turned on. This happens with any app that is playing music/sound.
I have NOT updated my phone recently and I'm in the latest software update (Android 10).
This issue started suddenly and I'm not sure if it's something from the settings or what.
Disabling the "Optimise Battery Usage" for apps such as YouTube Music, Spotify, Messenger and WhatsApp did NOT solve the issue and the sound stuttering still occur when using these apps while the screen is off.
Restarting the phone did not resolve the issue.
This issue occurs while the phone is charging as well.
Any suggestion of how to resolve this issue? Anything apart from Factory Reset.
Also, my device is NOT rooted.
Thanks in advance!
