I'm having issues with Google Voice syncing the conversations done on the website onto my phone.
Here's an image of the texts I sent on the GV website a few minutes ago: http://i.imgur.com/X3fp2.jpg
Here's the same conversation when I open up the GV app on my phone: http://i.imgur.com/Go3dK.jpg
I've attempted to refresh the Google Voice app several times and it just does not sync and show my texts. I also did a full refresh of everything in Accounts and Settings and nothing. Background data is enabled. I am running a stock Galaxy Nexus with 4.04 and the newest Google Voice version.
Anyone have any ideas? Anyone else have this issue?
Thanks
Mine syncs just fine. Even clears notifications on the phone when I view on the web.
Did you go into Google Voice > Settings > Sync and notifications and make sure the app's background data and everything is set up?
Could always try signing out of GV app (which wipes its data) and signing back in to "sync it up".

Yup, that's all setup. It's weird because it syncs the messages I receive, but not the ones I sent myself. I'm going to uninstall/reinstall the app.
Edit: That seems to have done it. Cool.

I'm having the exact same issue. Unfortunately uninstalling/reinstalling didn't work for me. Any other ideas I can try?

Well folks it seems i have a problem... my gmail suddenly stopped syncing and it's driving me batty!
I've tried quite a few things to fix the issue to no avail It also refuses to send out emails which is pretty inconvenient and highly annoying.
I'm using the gmail app and not the stock email. Custom ROM (WildChild Sense).
Tried to change the settings, ad another email, turn off and on functions, no luck...
Any ideas would be appreciated!
ETA: Oh yeah, i've tried over the T-mo network AND Wifi, neither way does it work... other stuff (text, etc) are working fine.
-goto settings,
-then applications
-Then all applications
-Look for gmail and click it, then clear data
-click back and look for 'google services framework' click it, then clear data
-restart your phone and wait for everything to load up then open gmail and wait for it to sync and all should now work fine.
Note: after restarting phone you may get a message asking to accept google location service, click yes/accept
Sweet! Thank you, it seem to be working fine now... :victory:

I have a rooted Note 2 running 4.1,2 and just installed 'Box' from box.com. When I get a notification that I have new Gmail email, I'm presented with a choice of whether I want to open it with Gmail or Box. If I select Gmail, and select Gmail as the default, the Note 2 just reboots. Has anyone else had this problem? How can I disassociate Box from Gmail completely?
Thanks in advance.
Go to Settings and clear defaults and cache. When installing cloud application don't let it to take over your mail and any other stuff.

I do have both applications running on my system, and Gmail as default, and it is certainly not rebooting.
Are both Gmail and Box.net apps up to date?
Tried all the above - thanks. Eventually fixed by telling Box not to keep me logged in.

I had exactly the same problem. I eventually solved it by telling box not to allow uploading from other apps but that isn't really good enough because I do use it to upload from other apps.
Hi there to the best community of developers! :good:
I’m having an issue with Google Hangouts SMS notifications. I don’t know if it has to do with my phone or not but I have a Galaxy S3 T999 and when I receive an SMS, hangouts doesn’t notify me. On the other hand if I receive a hangout chat I instantly receive a notification. I have turned on the SMS notifications in the Hangout's settings. I also turned off the notifications in the stock Messaging app and in Go SMS app which I was using before moving to hangouts. I thought it might have to do with a conflict with other SMS app notifications, but that neither has resolved the issue. I’ve read through the forum but haven’t found anything related, so I will really appreciate any help on this.
No SMS alerts
I am also experiencing this issue.
When I go into the settings of Google Hangouts there is a section for SMS in which the only options for notifications is for sounds.
I will receive both a icon in the notification bar, my notification light will blink, and an alert will go off when I receive a Google Hangouts message, but nothing for SMS.
I am running 4.1.2 on a Galaxy S3 - SGH-I747
Freeze GoSMS and Stock SMS. Wipe data for Hangouts and then reboot. Login to Hangouts and set all the preferences all over.
No luck

How do you mean "freeze" the apps?
I cleared their cache and did a Force Stop. I wiped Hangouts and rebooted, set my preferences and still nothing.
I also set Hangouts as my Default Messaging App.
Still no notifications.
Titanium Backup will freeze the apps.
Thanks!

Thanks Perseus71 for your response! I did as you suggested and it indeed solved the problem. I wonder though if someone with a non-rooted Galaxy S 3 T999 could solve this issue since Titanium Backup is for rooted devices only. But again thanks for your support.

They can still do it without freezing, all you gotta do is uncheck the option in gosms to disable other SMS app notifications

Yes its possible to do for Non-Rooted devices. In Settings > Apps , you can hit disable for the given app. If you had any updates, then you will have to remove them first before you will get the Disable button.

Perseus, you are a god
Last few days (must be since the last update was rolled out on Nov 15) my gmail app doesn't sync back to gmail.com. I get updates from gmail.com (new emails, etc.) but nothing I do on my phone gets sent back to gmail.com. I also can't send any email from my gmail app either; they sit in the Outbox forever.
One of the improvements in the app is "Improved sync and outbox behavior"
Anyone else having this issue?
had this twice after restoring the app with titan i think. after deleting the gmail data it worked again.

You rock! That totally fixed it. I went into the Settings | Apps | Gmail and hit clear data. Gmail started loading up all the messages again and now sycning works properly.

My Phone is Galaxy S4:
On mobile network only my Gmail app was not syncing automatically, gmaps was slow, youtube was not working or really slow and Calendar wasn't syncing either.
After looking on the internet I was not able to find the solution. I have tried everything that was simple like clear cache, reboot, sync OFF/ON ...
Solution:
I tried the APN reset solution: Setting/more network/mobile network/Access point name/ reset to default. I did it and also I have found that google services had the check mark ON for restrict background data. Setting/data usage/google services
I have never touched this option before so I don't know why it was checked. After these two steps my phone works perfectly now.
I hope this could help someone..
Thank you

So this happened after the app update...wtf is this?
I have this same problem. I've noticed that it happens after I've used the Amazon music app. The only fix I've found was to force stop the Amazon music app and it clears these blank messages. I'm now on Android 8.0.0 and had this issue as well with the latest Android version 7, I was on. I have the Pixel 128gb on Verizon.
Its a problem with android messages
Yeah, I don't think it has anything to do with the Amazon music app running in the background anymore. Previously, when I saw the prompt that Amazon music was running in the background, if I started the messenger app, I got those blank threads and as soon as I force stopped Amazon music, the blank threads disappeared. Now, they stay and just go away on its own. Even with the recent update to messenger 2.5.211, it still does it.
It's definitely an issue with messenger.

Did you ever find a fix for this? I'm having the same issue.
I have this problem also after restoring the sms with the sms backup and restore. Basically the messages are there but I can't see them, only those ghost threads/messages and I cannot scroll down on the message list to see more of them.
same problem. here is what i did.
I downloaded hangouts and manually set it as default app for sms.
Then i opened up hangouts and went through all the threads that messenger wouldnt show.
Then i went back and forced stopped messenger, cleared data, and set it back as default.

Unfortunately the hangouts is not supporting sms anymore and is though unable to be set as a default sms app.

i have no idea why i had typed hangouts, must have been late. i meant to say verizon messages.
I got it working. Just disable the messages app and choose yes when it asks if you want to go back to factory app. Then clear cache and data and enable the app again. Then you can view all the messages. After this updating the app through play store is also safe and the messages remain visible.
