Sense 4.0 on the Desire? - Desire General

So, with the HTC One series just upon us, what do you reckon that we'll see Sense 4.0 roms floating about once the ASOP roms become stable?
It seems possible on paper- the One V has specs nearly identical to our creaking devices, or is there something I'm missing? Or is this completely pointless now that most of our 24 month contracts are nearly up and chefs will most likely jump ship to the One X/S?

Yeah, you're missing this and this.
First there was official GB RUU, then there was ICS, now there is Sense 4.0. I wonder what will be the next likely cause for plethora of pointless threads.

Well I searched for 'Desire' and 'Sense 4' to look for older threads, and nothing came up. Thanks for the links, but a shred of politeness would do you a world of good.

Anyone Working On Froyo + Sense port?

Just wondering if anyone is working on porting the desire/evo froyo with sense. Thanks

HTC is working on it. Sense is closed-source, so there's nothing the community can do to port it.
The Nexus One is the only device that has an 'official' release of Froyo, and no device has Froyo and Sense... who is "everybody else"?

Yeah I like the know it all response but he obviously isn't as smart as he thought or hasn't been paying attention. I only opened this thread because I couldn't believe no one else hadn't mention it already. I've been following this for days.
I hear bluetooth does not work and there are graphical glitches.
Is it worth porting now?
I would wait till those 2 are fixed first.
This won't be hard to port to the Dinc. At all. Should be only a matter of time.

Sorry, I hadn't seen the thread that michaelnhf linked. Without it, the original post looked like just another "I wantz teh Froyo 'n Sense, when will that b out?" post, which I'm sure we're all sick of seeing.

I'm actually surprised people aren't porting more of the desire roms and themes over. I've been to their forums they've got some quality stuff over there. The desire and inc are basically the same phone.. I'm no dev but sheesh where are the roms?! Like real roms not " I removed sense apps and widgets roms." Koush seems to be busy with other things too I hope things pick up soon.
Yea looks like we might have picked the wrong phone for custom roms and such haha

Here's your Incredible Froyo w/out sense. Radio and Wifi are still a no go but atleast you get a preview.

No other builds from phones will work for us regardless of version if it isn't customed tailored to the Dinc.

Mmmhmm...Humble pie.
Love the HTC Incredible but I'm leaning towards absolutely hating the Sense UI, excluding the clock/weather widget.
I cannot find a single mobile data widget that *works* other than the HTC one that ships with the phone. That is the only reason I'm using sense...although I don't 'dislike' it.
I can get FroYo and Sense to boot on my phone, but that is the easy part. None of the touch keys work and it reboot randomly. It also says that I have no signal, but I can browse the web.
I do like the new widgets.
What are the new widgets?
The two widgets that caught my eye was the new Mail widget. It looks more like our current calander widget. There is also a FM radio widget. Of course, there is also that News widget that some people love.

Confused with so many ROMs

Is there some sort of comparison table listing the differences between each custom ROM? So many to choose from, not sure which to use.
Thanks

He he, I know what you mean. I did start to do one, but it quickly got too complicated. My advice is read post#1 of each rom thread to see what functionality is available and try to decide what the top 2 or 3 must-haves are for you, download a rom that meets that criteria and try it out!
And if you are anything like me, you will then try another, and another, and another, and then completely change your mind about those first must-haves (look at my sig to see some of the roms I've tried).
My two must-haves were the ability to play FLAC files, and Apps2SD. I still haven't found one that can do that but I have found a rom that I like a lot and have stuck with it for a while.
Just take the plunge and try em all.
Lol Androidspin has a comparison chart been around for ages .... plus my g1's Nand is nearly dead with the sheer amount of roms I flashed
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
im planning on adding another to the list soon...
Sense Rom : LeeDroid is the best FRANKLY. there is another very popular rom which is nothing more than over rated.
Non sense : use defrost or opendesire. almost the same
rest is ur choice
Best Rom is an individual choice after try all roms I have decided to stick with auraxtsense.its stable and fast.
BTW I believe this is a post in the general or qna section and not the developer forum

There is a threads somewhere from a few months ago on a similar subject. Someone found a google docs spreadsheet (in French, but easily understandable) that seemed to hit the info you are after. No idea of whether it is updated. In a rush at the mo, so will look for it later, but it is in these forums somewhere
Moved to Q&A as not development.

Gingerbread OTA update appears to be beginning / ROM Dump?

http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=69415587
It looks as if the OTA update for Sense 2.3 has started to come through. I'm in the process of asking the one who got it to dump the ROM.
It's not Gingerbread, it's the 2.29.xxx.x version that started to roll out yesterday for many users.

Oh Sorry my BAD well I am waiting for CM Team and AdamG that soon gingerbread AOSP Rom will be in our hand.
AdamG promises that he's waiting for gingerbread as soon as it's out he's gonna update Oxygen 1.0 to Gingerbread platform for us that's why he kept it so much minimal.
Similarly CM team we know their abilities and Cyanogen and Kali they are truly the most brilliant ones and blessed one. I know soon very soon we will be enjoying gingerbread on our desire as Nexus one will get it very 1st and our Desire is closest brother to Nexus One
Gingerbread on the Desire, in same day as Nexus????

Stop being so smug and just read the damn link.
Very unlikely that it is gingerbread.
Oke this is getting sad, he admits his update is 28mb. There is no way that gingerbread is so small, second, like mentioned before in this thread, there is a HTC update 2.29.405.2 which happened to roll out around this time and is also 28mb, third the desire is a sense phone and it would be extremely unusual for HTC to release a senseless update for it.
It was fun while it lasted, but it will be a while before we see gingerbread on the desire officially.
i'm getting too.

How many people do you think are on here with a WWE unbranded Desire? There's 100's.
What do you see?
People posting about receiving notification of the 2.29 OTA - Yes
or
People posting about receiving notification of the Gingerbread OTA - No
So either his guy is the third coming of Jesus and HTC has only decided to push Gingerbread to his phone or he's either confused and/or talking a load of crap.

i hope, my xmas i will spend with fresh gingerbread in desire and on mothers table

Want to remind you..

Hey guys,
As you have probably noticed, the development at the desire has quite "stopped"
Many devs are really "busy" and others have abandoned the desire.
The ONLY working dev is Coolexe or MichaelM.
I personally think it's time to move on to a next device.
What you guys think?
Will there come more desire devs? or will this be the "end"?
Bout kernels: Once they told us, when open source kernel is released, the desire will be muchhhhh better, but I personally think there hasn't change much!
Kernels are still not as they should be, 1 kernel got lockscreen lag or batt drain, others freeze. Know what imsaying?
I'm not saying the devs are that bad, but this is the end to me I think.

ooooh 1 whole month ago. Actually I am working on a build now but quality is more important to me than getting out updates every 2 days.
But to say there are only 2 devs working on the desire is completely wrong and I find your posts not only offensive but also inaccurate and counter productive.
Edit> Also forgot to mention Droidzone and Sibere, then all the kernel devs. not all devs build roms.
And Kali- is a dev,. he doesn't just "post builds" if you look at his git hub you can see his commits,.
Worst thread ever!
Well I see it more dimensional:
1. Sense: it seems like really slowed down a bit, but on the other hand Sense 3.5 was available very quickly. Dridzone is also contributing here (piety he resists newer Sense for now).
2. ASOP: CM7 + bunch of other ROMs - well CM is stable, rest is fluctuating (for me it is only CM that seems interesting)
3. MIUI: active
Actually now is the time to wait for ICS sourcecode to enable further milestone. I guess Sense will decrease in popularity with ICS based CM9 released. For me the only thing thet stops me from CM7 as daily are Exchange ActiveSync issues.
Piety that for few days now both Coolexe and michelm_007 remain silent. Anyway DHD seems to be the main driver of HTC community - Desire seems to rather follow, not drive progress (in matter of new sense porting). Tha is basically due to small internal memory that is the main step to consider when porting some new ROMS. The speed issue due to obsolete platform (CPU/GPU) is also stronger here from DHD, so it really is the fade out period for the Sense on Desire. Next Sense will most likely be even more difficult to be run smoothly...
Sense will gain popularity again when Sense 4.0 on top of Android 4.0 D) will be released.
Dont see that running on the trusty Desire though
RootSU,
I didn't want to be rude,
But I think you understand that this desire community isn't how its supposed to be.
You have to agree that the BEST devs abonded, like baadnewz, robocik, leedroid (comes back)
It's not completely dead but its silent here in the rom section.
Hope you understand my point
I understand that the desire is phasing out. I only debate the fact that there are only 2 active devs. I just think you're exaggerating the situation, be that knowingly or otherwise.

isnt it logical that people move on to new devices, including the devs? no point stating the obvious in a thread here... just stick with whats left of the desire community, start developing yourself or abandon ship and go for a newer device... you should at least be thankful for all that has been done for our awesome device so far...
*note* im not bashing you in any way, its just that i think the way you wrote the OP is pointless. you can move on to a Nexus device where the development doesnt stop till the devs faint from working overtime...

This. I even flashed AuraxTSense again for a brief period before changing ship to aosp because of this.
It is only natural that people continue developing elsewhere, depending on where they upgraded. You can't expect them to support old device like you can't expect from HTC. Neither party involved has superhuman abilities, so I can't say anything but great thanks for making Desire more pleasurable to use than it already was.
The thing that concerns me are the reasons both Neophyte and AdamG went. Rapid deterioration of community and quality of information available in the period of last 12 months. Both these great devs went explicitly because of that (one for good and one to his respective forum).

[Q] FASTEST Sense 3.0 ROM

Hey everyone,
I haven't seen any topics in this forum discussing this.
Which Sense 3.0 ROM is the most stable/FAST? I have tried Aurora which was fast to start with, but then became slow? I can't seem to find a bug-free (more or less) Sense 3.0 ROM which is smooth and stable.
If anyone can help me, I would appreciate it!
