I was trying out a phone tracker app and then my phone went into a reboot and now theres a pin on the screen! What can I do without loosing all my data.
have you done a nandroid backup?
Yea a while ago but not recently!
What tracker app? I know Cerberus has an unlock command you can send from a computer.
pro tracker, I was never able to set up the online account
I've never ran into this problem, but I know with a regular lock screen if you fail so many times (I remember reading somewhere it was like 10-15) you should be able to unlock it with your google account password.
Adb push sd. Then reset in rrcovery

Should use SeekDroid.

Yeah, first try is to fail out of the PIN enough times that it asks for your Google password. If that doesn't work...
Take a nandroid backup from CWM recovery and then wipe your phone's data from CWM. Boot back in, sign into your Google accounts and download Titanium Backup. Titanium (possibly only the paid version) can restore apps+data from nandroid backup files.

Hi,
My proximity sensor broke and now I have to send my dhd away for repair. Before I do this I'd like to do a full factory reset. After my phone gets fixed, I'd like to restore it to how my dhd is now. My phone is not rooted.
Question: How can I backup most of my DHD without rooting it, and what will I definitely lose after a system restore?
Thanks in advance!
No, but you can backup Contacts, messages and apps are tied to your google account so when you login to the market they'll all automatically download
Are you sure that all of my text messages will be restored to my phone? I thought that you needed htcsence.com for that (which has never worked for me..)
Why don't you temp root your DHD using visionary, do nandroid and disable the temp root for your warranty. You will remain unrooted after you reboot.
When you get back your phone, just restore accordingly.
Try titanium backup, it is meant for rooted phones but there are features you can use without root such as text messaging!! And contacts, sorry but that is all you can realy do wthout root. If you go into settings and then privacy check backup my data and automatic restore as well then when you reset your phone and login with your new phone your apps should be put back onto your phone. Then install titanium backup and press restore and point the app to the backup on your sd card.
Glad I could help, stevepork

I've thought about that, but I installed every ota right away and I read some time ago that isnt possible anymore to temp root my phone.
There are methods now to downgrade your build number to 1.32. You can refer to this thread by jkoljo. After your downgrade following the steps, you should be able to do temp root
edit - I just read through the FAQ of the procedure. Apparently you will lose your setting and application, so it doesn't serve the purpose.
Theres an app called Backup to Gmail on the market which I use. It can back up all your texts to your gmail account and when you get the phone back you just login, hit the restore button and they will all come back. It works flawlessly and I am pretty sure it is free too.

Hi.
I come from an HTC Desire and I have some backups that I made with MyBackup Pro of some app's data. Relevant data like some games progresses, Libra's database, etc. MyBackupPro has an online backup and I backed the data online on the HTC Desire and tried to restore it in the Galaxy Nexus. The Galaxy Nexus recognizes the backup, shows the apps that are backed up, but when I press Restore it says that I should reboot the device and that the restore was OK almost instantaneously. Nothing is restored, no data is transferred to the phone..
Is there any other way to migrate this kind of data? Shouldn't MyBackup Pro be working on the Galaxy Nexus?
Thanks in advance
Anyone?
Maybe the app needs an update for ICS? Try to check their site to see if there's a reported problem, that's most likely the case.
Should have gone with Titanium Backup. I never had much luck with MyBackup anyway. Titanium is rock star on ICS.
The only problem Ive had so far has been restoring SMS with Pro.
Even with busy box installed its suuuper slow at the moment.
I sent them an email, I'll wait for an answer.. But I guess it is due to incompatibilities with ICS too..
AmesCell, I have always used MyBackup while using the Desire, never had a problem. Anyway, I still have the Desire and can use Titanium, but my Galaxy Nexus isn't rooted, and Titanium needs root.

Your signature says your Desire is rooted. Rooting the GN is easy. I go through 4 phones a year. I couldn't imagine doing that without Titanium.
Yes, the Desire is rooted, but I wasn't planning on rooting the GN so soon. I just got it 2 days ago and I want to see how this goes without any "hacks"..
I wouldn't have rooted the Desire in the first place if it wasn't for the lack of updates, etc... That's the main reason I bought the GN, having a more official support. Let's see, I'm almost sure that I'll root it in the future, but I don't want to do it right now.. I'll just wait for the Rerware answer to my email and see how it goes.
Thanks
Any update?
Rerware already answered, but no updates. Although I think I know what the problem is. I am only backup up app's Data, because they are already installed in the GN. But this is a "root only" feature and, for what I understood, non-rooted devices cannot restore this kind of backup, only APK backups. I asked this to the guys at Rerware to see if there is a workaround.
When I have news I'll post them here.

restoring your data/sms/backups is a "hack"
Hi,
Did you manage to find a solution to this problem? My phone is rooted and it still doesnt restore anything. Just like you said it finds the backup but then when you select the arrow next to apps to tick which ones you want to restore nothing is shown..
I need this to restore my game saves, spotify offline music etc
This happened to me with my sensation before. Somehow the backup got corrupted to I deleted it and started from scratch. Sorry to hear this happened to you it seriously sucks losing akk that stuff. What I've been doing is using from manager to restore my data partition and I've never had any issues SO FAR.
Enable advanced options, click restore and restore backup and only select the data.

I managed to solve the problem......
First my story:
I decided to install new ROM on my phone....i backed up apps and data with My Backup Pro (i bought the app)
My phone is rooted of course.
So i installed the new ROM and then i installed the My Backup Pro and started to restoring apps but i didn't get the app/data/app+data popup
and of course i couldn't restore my data from apps. i got really frustrated and browsed the web and couldn't find anything.
I started everything from the begining uninstalled all apps and figured it out that i did something wrong....and that is this that My Backup Pro doesn't work as it should without busy box...u have to install Busy Box before installing the My Backup Pro!
Follow this tutorial in order to restore your apps + data
Backing up apps on android (rooted) after installing new ROM
With My backup pro application
1. Backup apps + data
2. Backup dictionary
3. Backup all other data you want to
Install new ROM and then start restoring by this order
1. first install busy boxes i found there are two (BusyBox and BusyBox installer on the google store. install both)
2. install My backup pro and when asked to install additional options for rooted phone choose yes (now you should be able to choose between app/data/app+data to restore)
3. restore apps + data
4. thats it...enjoy!
It worked for me!! :good:
Might sound like a stupid question. I just unlocked, rooted, and flashed Jelly Belly, and was wondering if there was a quick way to recover your apps. The only way I've known is to login to play.google.com and send all the apps I want manually through the web interface. Is it possible to have your apps auto sync once you login to your Google account for the first time upon setup? Maybe some other way. It just pains me to manually have to go to the Google Play Store web interface from my computer and send each app one at a time to my phone. Thanks guys.
during the time when you set it up and logged into google it should of asked you to restore apps if it didnt well then your going to have to do them one by one unless of course you had titanium backup or something
I think while I was still on stock ICS and did a full wipe for a new kernel when I rebooted all my apps started downloading instantly as soon as I signed into Google. Since then thought that hasn't happened. I just go to the play store and look at my app purchase history and download the ones I had. Would like to know how to set up the auto feature, I think it might have to do with the Currents folder I have that is being backed up to Google now.

Yeah, that's the issue I'm having. I know a friend of mine doesn't have this issue. Everytime he flashes a new ROM his apps are restored automatically. On the other hand, when I sign into my Google account for the first time, my apps aren't synced and downloaded automatically. Everything else is, like contacts, etc get restored, but not apps for some reason. Any idea why my Google account isn't syncing my apps?
Just backup user apps and data through adb or a toolkit and restore when done. I've flashed all of the stock update leaks using this method, up and running in no time with everything back to normal. Don't backup system apps and data unless are reflashing the same ROM.

Can Titanium Backup do this?
Hello I have a Galaxy Note 2 for T-mobile. I was in the application manager playing around with a couple stuff and I accidentally deleted the Phone application instead of force stop/clearing the data. So I downloaded different dialers and contact applications so I could avoid the factory reset.
With the new dialer/contact program, I no longer had the pictures for my contacts, I didn't even have an option to save contacts/send contacts.
So I went ahead and rooted it so I could set up a backup just in case I were to screw this up even more than I could have. So I created a backup about 5 times. I then factory reset the phone thinking I would get my Phone application back and then I could restore it and get my features back.....
Well it doesn't. so I was able to restore it from the backup and it brought me back to the first step where I had all my contacts, no phone options. Sooooo... I decided to put on a new rom and I downloaded the MyROM thinking it would bring the phone option back and in case it didn't, I was going to just restore it again.
I put the Myrom on there and the phone application came back, but I realized I had forgot to save my contacts. I thought to myself it shouldn't be too much of a problem since I had the backup file saved 5 times for safety. Well.. it won't let me restore it anymore. It keeps saying
" Error while restoring /system "
so I looked around online and they said to update CWM and try. Still doesn't work.
unroot it and try reroot. - still doesn't work.
So I just ordered a new note 2 through warranty. I have tried unrooting/rerooting minimum 40 times. it still won't restore from backup.
If I could just restore that backup so I can see my contacts... sigh.. am I doomed?
I am on 4.1.2 android btw.
I tried to restore backups from google as well btw.. it only brings back like 20 of them back....
Thanks for your time and sorry for the essay.
Your contracts should be backed up to Google.
CARBON NIGHTLIES | KROZ THEMES | CABIN FEVER MAPLE WHISKY
You can no delete system apps in the application manager.Maybe you disabled.factory reset &Odin the stock rom that will fix ur phone
Google should restore your contacts if you saved them to Google.

I'm so lost, first why did you order a warranty phone, did tmo and Samsung do this? Maybe it's their fault some how?
Anyways it seems like you didn't have contacts saved to Google, but just to your phone. You could try an advanced restore in cwm and only restore data, that may work

Ronnieruff: Only 20 of my contacts are backed up in google. I already tried restoring from there
deeznuts1977, Believe it or not, the I was able to delete it. I didn't believe it at first as well. But there was no way to open the system phone application after I deleted it. It was removed from the application manager as a whole... Since the phone system app is gone as well, I'm assuming that;s why I couldn't export to my SD card, nor could I save pictures for contacts. Or send via bluetooth as well. I reset and odined the phone already./ I cant restore my nandroid backup which is where all my contacts were at.
kintwofan I ordered a phone through warranty hoping I could restore the backup from that phone, since I put the backup on an external SD card.
When I press restore data, I thought it normally said restore complete blah blah, and press reboot system now, and it'll reboot right? However after I press restore data it just restarts the phone and I'm stuck on the Galaxy Note 2 bootloader screen... I have to reflash odin to get it to boot..
Discovered some dead pixel on my screen. Since i'm still unrooted (yeah knox is a pain in the ass) i used Kies 3 to backup my data and go for a replacement. I tried to restore everything from kies then.
So for my surprise Kies simply re installed my apps without data. Twitter, Netflix and every app that needs login information asked me for my credentials. But the worst was that all my games, some Saves with 15 plus hours, i must start from scratch.
I tried to restore a second time without success. Am i doing something wrong? Or this is it? Kies cant backup the data/cache/savegames whatever from the apps? If this is the case, kies is useless.
I've actually been wondering the same thing, been looking for a decent non root backup system, that can take backups of app data (saves, login info, accounts etc)
Anyone?
Looking for an app for this also

Use helium. No root required but requires you connect to pc via USB to enable it on the device. I restored my game and app data with it. Although some apps I noticed still doesn't restore data but it's like only 2 to 3 apps out of my 50 so apps.
