So, lately, my 4g starts to hang after a few minutes of use regardless of what I'm doing. It could be after 5 minutes or after 20. Whether I'm streaming videos or downloading a torrent, the connection just freezes up; and i have to restart 4g to go back up. And i can tell this is happening because a) obviously whatever I'm doing is in a paused state, and b) in the Wimax DM the signal strength and quality are stuck at a particular number (they're usually constantly changing).
Has any one else experienced this issue or have know of a fix?
Ps - I had this problem on modems FC15 and FC24.

I'm also having this issue. I'm also having the 4g not waking up issue on certain apps. Never had the issue on gingerbread so i guess its exclusive to ics. Anybody getting acore has stopped working unexpectedly? Didn't get this on fc 22 just started yesterday when i installed fc 24 tar.

this happened to me on GB also
I didn't have this issue with the older FB builds, and definitely didn't have it with GB. Now just gotta find the time to test the older modem to determine whether its the modem or the kernel. Yay (sarcastically)...

I was on Calkulins ics 1.4 and just switched to CM9. I was and still am getting random reboots on both of these. The only thing that's stayed the same is my FD02 modem. I have not updated it yet. Could the modem/version cause issues like this or is it most likely something else?

Did it happen when you were running Gingerbread? I have heard this is not too uncommon when running the ICS leaks because they are not final yet. Also I hope you have a Epic touch because in your post it says you are using a Motorola Startac. If that is the phone you are using, you are on the wrong forum.
Also what root method did you use? When I first got my phone I rooted using the root that gives you the yellow triangle and I got crazy random reboots and random shut downs. I returned to stock then re rooted using Sfhubs latest root method and I have not had one problem since.
Are you using SetCPU?

Its a known issue with the FC and FD leaked builds. It has been getting progressively better with each new leak. If you're in a good reception area you should be ok. Most resets are occurring when going in and out off 4G roaming.
The only real fix at this point is to go back to an FB build (I think FB27 was the last one without the reset issue)or Gingerbread.
It didn't happen on GB. Only on Calkulins last rom and CM9. Not using SetCPU. I'll try an older modem before I go back to GB.
Also has there been issues where after opening an app the menu box starts popping up without touching the menu button? It happens in my Gmail, browser (stock), and Waze GPS. I also only noticed this on these last couple ics roms.

Ya, from what I have seen that is also a known issue. I would go back to Gingerbread. I am not switching untill everything is smooth and stable.
Same problem here. I was doing fine and dandy on the GB kernels and roms and then i made the switch to the Venum/CM9 and everything just started rebooting. I went back to stock rom/kernel el 29 but i still get reboots. I've tried everything and i just have to narrow things down.
Is anyone having this issue too? If my 4g is on, i can surf the Web, but now it won't update apps or download them. It stuck on waiting for network, but when i switch to 3g, download starts right away...4g not working for downloading or updating apps.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
It's been posted before in other portions of the thread. Nothing I can do besides the temp fix. Go to setting-manage apps- the find the play market and clear the cache then uninstall the update. You will have to do that every time you re enter the market under 4g
let me guess you are on a GB build possibly with a ICS modem? if so then you need to choose either one or the other. i was having the same problem recently and thats how i fixed it.

Yes your correct there is no real fix until they update the market again. or if you flash a ROM with a new Ics market then it should work fine.

I had the same issue, but can confirm the upgrade fixes it.
This has been pretty much been the most frustrating update process of my 4 Android devices that I have owned.
Hoping some of the sharp people here can help me out.
Buttons Not Working - About every third or fourth time I wake my phone my physical buttons do not work. I have to put the phone to sleep and re-wake (sometimes multiple times) to get my phone's buttons to work.
Excessive Battery Drain - Yikes!!! I have uninstalled all my apps, and it is still occurring. Any other ideas to figure out what might be causing this?
Constant 3G data movement - When wi-fi is off, my phone is constantly pushing 3g data up and down....non-stop!
Excessive Phone Heat - My phone is running like a furnace.
Now, I think the last three are probably connected in some way.

That is not ICS you have something running in the background. That would cause all of that. Get a battery monitor app and see what is running

I am glad I am not the only ones with these problems.
It has to be a ICS function that is causing the excessive battery drain.
I currently have no non stock apps installed.
I have noticed that the battery ran from 100% to 25% but battery drain had no slowed considerably....maybe faulty logic in how they are calculating percentages?
The one I would really like to solve is the buttons not working, as there will be lots of battery related threads as more and more people upgrade.

The malfunctioning buttons have been happening to some of us on every ROM, whether it's Gingerbread or ICS. It happens to mine on stock GB or stock I'VE.
Just so you know, you can tap the volume Roche to wake up the buttons. You don't have to cycle the screen. Tap the volume button, wait second or so and you will see the capacitive buttons blink once... That means they've reset. Sometimes you have to do it twice.

You should try it again if it didn't work!
Not everyone's issue is going to be caused by the same thing. What may work for you may not always work for everyone else. It may be an app or ICS in general causing the issue.

Hi,
I am wondering if it is normal that wifi speeds slow down after a certain time. My wifi at home can reach up to 22 Mbps down and say in a couple hours for example it would drop to 10 Mbps. Immediately I would restart my phone and it would be back up to normal speeds of 20ish Mbps. I do multiple back to back tests on speedtest.net app and my wired connections and other wireless devices are consistent.
My wifi does not disconnect and it has no problems connecting to other souces. At work i have the same wifi issues.
I have a Canadian Rogers Note 2. I am rooted and flashed to cleamrom 4.0.5, fully wiped and reset before flash with twrp. I have tried turning off power saving mode during the slow wifi transmissions and still have this issue,
I am lost as to what to do. Any advice would be appreciated.
Yes this is for me as well I have been on clean rom and now stock and it continues to do the same not a huge deal but I just noticed it last night im on mediacom if thats any help

In the meantime I have installed My Data Manager to see if there is any unknown wifi data transmitting while this problem is happening. When I had the phone bone stock I really did not monitor this issue.
I use the international rom and I notice YouTube buffers longer than it should than it chops shortly after. I just tried recycling wifi and now it's snappy again.question now is how long it will last

Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda app-developers app
I have been playing with this issue for a few days now. I can sort of recreate this by leaving the wifi range and entering. This will create that speed drop I described in my first post. By turning on and off the wifi toggle resolves this.
While using My Data Manager it shows no mystery wifi or data transfer in the backgound. Everything checks out in that aspect.

yeah this blows. I don't know where the fault is. Running cleanrom 4.0.5 with its kernal. I don't believe I have really modified anything other than flashing the rom and a few zips here or there.
Normally it isn't a big deal but it really seemed to cause issues when syncing for the first time with dropbox yesterday. I had to keep restarting wifi. I think part of that was dropbox but 4 gb took literally hours to get done
I don't know if it happens on cleanrom 4.2.5

I am on CleanROM 4.5 right now and it behaves the same way. I did read on another thread that there is a possible fix by replacing the 'wifi' folder with the one from Android 4.1.1.

has anyone experienced their phone turning itself off, and the only way to turn it on is to pull the battery and restart it?
Never heard of that..at least on our note. I have experienced a weird rabdom reboot. Not sure of the relevance between the two but still falls under the weird category. Some say avast security causes these things...
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
I dont have avast installed. I have had the phome for about 10 days and it has happened about 5 times. the only thing that I have noticed that is it happens when I look at my phone after I get out of my car which makes me think it might have something to do with bluetooth because I have uconnect in my car. I am running stock rooted ljc and have already tried a fresh install and it still happens.
Ive had the exact same problem on stock LJC when I leave my car having used the phone with Bluetooth. The led is usually flashing and the screen is stuck off until a batter pull.
I have not noticed any other lock ups like this otherwise when not using BT. Ive had the phone 2 months.

I have had this happen twice this week but chalked it up to being a custom kernel issue....it happened in the same exact location each time...while streaming pandora in the car....in a spot undergoing network vision upgrades. I will have to test it further
