[Q] Advice on removing some bloatware - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to get some more space by removing some of the bloatware like both Music Unlimited's, UEFA.com, WhatsApp and Xperia Hot Shots. However, I didn't see them on the safe to remove list, are they safe to uninstall? And if I do uninstall them, can I still update to ICS when it comes out using the PC Companion?

be careful you can delete important stuff, use caution. back up first!!
I use Titanium Backup to remove system apps.
It has the capability to "freeze" them without actually removing them. This is helpful when you don't really want to get rid of it permanently but just want to stop it from running on its own.
It also allows you to be sure that no problems will be caused by removing the app. If something else depends on it and you start getting force closes you can thaw the app to recover it.
Once you are sure that you want to be rid of it forever you can remove it completely.
off the top your head do u know what all can be removed without messing up pone?
+1 for using Titanium Backup to remove system apps.

At one time I saw someone here trying to build a comprehensive list. Definitely can remove the 'bloat' like Amazon MP3, NASCAR, NFL, Kindle, Nova, Sprint Navigation, and the other Sprint apps.
Things that get you into trouble are things that are integrated into Android (like Google Talk) or HTC Sense.

This is the list I was thinking of:

Question about uninstalling system apps...

This might be a newb question, but I just wanted to make sure. I see that Titanium Backup has the ability to uninstall system apps, and there are a few in the ROM I'm using that I just don't care to use. The apps are Twitter, Google+, Play Books, Play Music, and Play Movies & TV. These don't seem integral to the system itself so would it be okay if I just uninstall them? Is there a better way besides Titanium Backup to uninstall, and does it leave traces behind? Thanks for the help!
yea it would be okay to uninstall them , it doesn't effect
Remove and fear nothing
Back them up and then delete them, if the deletion of them causes problems then restore them and delete them one by one until you find the one causing the problem and just keep it (sadly), but the applications you listed should not effect the device in any way after uninstalling.

I've always used Titanium Backup to remove bloatware from stock roms on my phones and its been great. Just try and be sure that the apps you uninstall are not sense related, google services, sms, phone, stock browser, etc. etc.

[Q] Deleting Unwanted Apps?

Hi, I just got my ZL two days back and I notice there is a slight battery drain. I've checked on the running apps and there are a bunch of running apps which I do not use (eg. Facebook, Sociallife ... etc). Does anyone know if there is a way to remove or stop these apps from running?
Also, I noticed that there isn't an option to remove certain apps like Facebook, Google+, SocialLife ...etc.
Any advice? Thanks.
It's not safe to delete stock apps, but you can freeze those apps so it won't run and won't appear in app drawer. You need Titanium Backup and your phone needs to be rooted to do so

The best way is doing root & use the 3rd program likes Titanium Backup or Root Explorer. Regarding battery life, u should do 3 times full charge at least and it will get better day after day.
If i understood your question you want to remove some apps thar you dont need but are stock , you can root your phone flash a custom rom and when you install it you can untick the apps you dont need , also use titanium backup if you downloaded some apps and need to restore them

Thanks for your input. Do I need to discharge it completely before recharging again? It dropped about 10+% in one night
Thanks all, I will try to root my phone and give Titanium Backup a go.
Does anyone have a list of apps or services which are deemed safe to stop/disable?

[Q] Root to delete useless apps safe?

I have a GS3 16 gb coming in the mail tomorrow. I heard we only really have 8-9gb free.
Can I delete all those useless apps to free up my space?
I know I would have to root just wondering if it will screw up my phone if I delete those useless apps.
Yes you can. But make sure you dont touch system files

Deleting apps didn't help me gain much storage. The only benefit is that you can get rid of certain apps that run in the background and tax your resources. Other than that, there is little benefit in deleting apps. You can simply hide them in the drawer.
And yes, please, be cautious not to delete certain apps. Otherwise, you'll get force closes. There is a post in here that lists apps that are safe to remove.
But again, there is almost no benefit in deleting apps that don't run in the background by default.

Are those bloatware safe to remove ?

Hi guys,
Since i have removed alot of bloat from my htc, there are still some i dont know what they do like the following :
Drawing Board.apk
message provider (from htc, ) - i dont use htc messages app
ResetNotify
Voice Dicatation
Are those sage to remove ?
Freeze in Titanium Backup is really handy to figure things like this out. Freeze the mentioned apps, and use the phone for awhile to see if there are any bugs. If not, go ahead remove the apps.
