[Q]How to change the album cover on ics beta? - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Everyone.
English is not my mother tongue so please, excuse me for my english faults
I am not sure where to post this but I post it here because I think it is the most appropriate.
I'm trying to set the album cover of the portal 2 ost but it just shows the default
cd cover. I tried to embed the cover in the mp3 but it does not work.
How do i do this ?
Thanks in advance

I think there is a program called "pimp my music" (no kidding) out there that can do that.

You can use Mp3tag and add the album art to the file manually

Yes But I think the Xperia S does all of this in one neat package which is fabulous for Album Cover ART and Track Infomation.

ohh cool, i'll give it a shot then, new to this still...only been tweaking my phone for about 5 weeks now
Yea search audacity tutorials on google. Basically you just open up the android_audio.mp3 file and the song you want to use in audacity. Copy/paste the parts you want together. Then export it as mp3. Adb it to your phone like normal and tada.

my ringtones don't repeat

any custom ringtone i try on the phone, whether .ogg .mp3 .wav will only ring once and stop repeating during the call, however the phone keeps vibrating on
stock tones work fine
another sidebug: if you have no bars and try to make a call, the phone gives you error saying to turn off airplane mode which it's not in
wtf??
I have the same issue
same here.. I want my custom ringtone to be used on my new GN
I've found that myself...
MP3 ringtones won't repeat.
It will loop ringtones if you convert the mp3 to OGG format, and in the file info (you can edit this in Winamp for example), create a field called ANDROID_LOOP and set the value to TRUE.

Where do you store the ogg file to use it for custom ring tones?
Bug or intentional... Hmm

Funnily enough, in the folder called "ringtones" when you connect it up to your PC.
There's a seperate folder for notifications...
and there's also a seperate folder for alarms!
Fun isnt it?

Interesting, so they're forcing us to use the OGG format.
Will the created field work on a regular MP3?

I don't use winamp, but itunes.
How can i edit the file info?
I can edit information about title, album, author..
Could someone post a screenshot of the created field with winamp ?
Same issue here with a mp3 again as above.
Will try to create and edit the ogg later.
Oh, I cannot imagine OGG format can solve the problem. Before I see this, I write a really little app to solve the problem.
Cyclic Ringtone

Yes, sucks that it doesn't loop.
You guys can always use a program called "goldwave" to lengthen your mp3's. Copy and paste the mp3 until it's as long as you need...

No, I did not dismiss your solution. On the contrary, I do really appreciate the OGG+ANDROID_LOOP way to solve the ringtone issue I apologize if I give you an impression that I don't like it.
It just turn out that I see this thread after I have finished the app...
As a ordinary user point of view, I like your solution more than mine. But there are scenarios that it is not always easy to convert a ringtone to OGG from MP3 and add a flag on the street. (may be someone develop an app for that? )
I found it easier to convert the file in Audacity and in the save dialog box you can add a new field called ANDROID_LOOP and set it to 'True'
Worked fine
Thank you all for the very useful information I have found in this thread. I have a question though: is this also applicable for alarms, or just for actual ringtones? TIA

I was "served" with this issue too with my brand new Galaxy Nexus. The ring tones I use are already in OGG format, just lacked the ANDROID_LOOP tag. Instead converting them again with Audacity, I found a little proggie which can just edit the tags. Here is a link to the download location - http://www.gausi.de/flogger-en.html
Sources are included as well as pre-compiled version (just exe to start - no installation or anything - very simple). Precompiled one is in German, but isn't difficult to figure out. Worked for me like a charm to make my ring tones looping. Thanks for the ANDROID_LOOP tip!!!

hmm...not sure about alarms, the ones i took off my old N900 repeat OK when the alarm goes off so i dont know if it's just rings tones, why not give it a try and see for youself?
Not like you have to wait for your usual alarm to test it!
And for the linux guys (like me) this is a simple batch command that will convert a mp3 file to a an ogg auto-repeat ringtone:
mpg321 custom_ringtone.mp3 -w raw && oggenc raw -c "ANDROID_LOOP=TRUE" -o custom_ringtone.ogg ; rm -f raw

Why is there a black dude giving me a disapproving look in my Walkman?

This guy popped out in my Walkman "my music" page, and I have no idea who he is or why does he have that look of disapproval on his face.
Joking aside, why did he appear and how do I get him off my Walkman? Also, I don't have any black artist's music in my music library, and I never ran that awful "download music info" thing.

I fixed it. Looks like it was something that was downloaded at some point by the download music info thingy, I guess. Most probably one of my recordings that got misnamed by the download music info I must have ran at some point without realizing it.
In the SD, go to android->data->com.sonyericsson.mediaextra->artistimage, in there you will find some files named only by numbers with no extension, those are artist images that appear in some places in the walkman. You can rename them to give them a .jpg extension and then you can open them. I deleted them all, and now I don't have any weird guy popping up when I browse my music.
So yeah, you can do this to remove or possibly replace artist images in the walkman.

[TUT] Manually adding lyrics on Sense 5 Music Player

Hi guys, after few days playing around with the new Sense 5 Update for our HOX, I have figure out a way to add the lyrics to songs in the Music Channel Feature by yourself. That is a great feature which is simple and fun, however sometimes the database either doesn't have your favorite tracks' lyrics or gives you the wrong one.
First, go on the internet and search for the song's lyrics. Remember, if you want it to works properly, you need to find two types of lyrics: the normal text one, and synchronized one which is found in .lrc file types.
The first normal text ones are easy to find through famous sites such as metrolyrics or azlyrics,etc..
The .lrc files are a bit harder looking up and not always available on the internet. You could learn how to make one yourself right here
If you know any good sites that share this type of lyrics, please share
Second, create a notepad and paste the normal lyrics that you found to there, save the file without any extension, name it Songfilename_lyric.
In the same way, copy the content of the synchronized lyrics to notepad, save the file without any extension, name it Songfilename_lrc (LRC not IRC)
For example, If your song file name is ABC.mp3, name the files ABC_lyric and ABC_lrc
Third, plug the phone into your computer, copy two files that you've created to
Computer\HTC One X\Internal storage\Android\data\com.htc.musicenhancer\files\.albumarts\storage_external\Music
Remember, look for a file name Songfilename_not_available in that directory, if it exists, delete it
Enjoy
Note:
The _lrc file is required for the lyrics to pop up while you're playing music, if you don't want it, then you don't have to create
Try to google search "filetype:lrc Song Name" if you don't find any synchronized lyrics with normal searching
If you have any questions, leave a comment
I will try to add Screenshots as soon as possible
VERY nice! . Thank you, sir.
Thanks! Have you tried to see if the music player recognizes any ID3-tag based embedded lyrics? I have tried using minilyrics on a PC to embed lyric tags but it apparently did not work. Does tagging work for anyone or we have to use this manual method if lyrics aren't recognized?
not working for me..
I followed the procedure very carefully step by step but it didn't work on my phone .. any ideas?

Also, where do you keep your musics in your phone?

sorry but I didn't take any screenshot.. I took a few old .lrc files I've had for a few years (that I used for an old mp3 player), checked the info tags at the beginning and the time stamps for each verse, added _lrc at the end of the name and removed the .lrc extension, then created another file with only the lyrics, added _lyric at the end of the name and removed the extension.. the last two folders in the path you gave us didn't exist on my phone so I created them, obviously didn't have to check for files with the song name and _notavailable at the end so I copied the two new files to the last folder in the path..
I keep my music in the default folder, namely 'Music'
UPDATE: I just noticed that the phone constantly deletes that last folder in the path (with all the files I copy to it) right after I create it, I have tried several times now.. why could that be?

i will make a video and i will posted in youtube
worked somewhat...
i realised that in my phone it is necessary to have filename_lyric. if there is filename_lrc only it will not work. it will work if you have filename_lyric only. to get lrc to work you need to have _lyric too...
i use a htc one x plus.
thankks for the help.
Guys help me
I made lyric by my self, step by step. I got small problem, i don't have folder (that storage_external/music) i have created both but it wont works.
Also i downloaded song with full album and artist info. Then put it on phone. It automaticly updated coverart but lirycs wont show up. Whats the problem. Where my music should be placed to get it work?
I succeeded but...
I followed you but i put it to ....\.albumarts\storage_external\Music. It's .albumarts, not .<space>albumarts. Then it worked on my HOX.
Would you like to check it, mr1029x?
Thank you for the tip.

How do I make the lyrics show up in the stock music player? And why does notification for the the app lyrics grabber doesn't appear in the notification? How do I make it so?
You can use third party Music Player like Musixmatch, it will show you lyrics regardless of the player.
hope this helps you.

You can also place the .trc files in the same folder as the audio files. I find it less confusing and easier to handle than having one large folder with hundreds of lrc/trc files.
Especially when you have a folder hierarchy like Music/$artist/$album/$title1-n
BTW you can leave the file extension to .lrc - works just fine

That's strange, because Honor does the same with its company (?) song.
/sdcard/Music/Honor.mp3
/sdcard/Music/Honor.lrc
The stock player displays the Chinese lyrics while playing the song.
And as mentioned above, I have placed my .lrc files in the same folder as the corresponding audio files and it works for me.
BTW Thanks for your nice themes! :good:
