I was in android development and was reading an article it says
" to install just go in recovery and click on install zip"
How on earth do you even get recovery on ARC in the first place ?
please help and straight set of instruction would be appreciated.
Thanks in Advance
Hey mate
Only way at the mo is by unlocking bootloader and flashing doomkernel thru fastboot.
That will give u root ,recovery,oc etc
If ya have sim free arc bootloader can be unlocked on se website otherwise you will have to pay one of the devs to do it for ya thru omnius or setools
That enables fastboot on ur phone which is the only way to flash kernels at the mo

when you bootloader is unlocked you can also run CWM on your phone without flashing the Doomkernel.
fastboot can boot your phone in recovery without flashing it, you have to have a boot.img with recovery in it and than : fastboot boot boot.img
this way you can keep everything on your phone stock but you ill have to do this every time you want to enter recovery
I unlocked bootloader, and I want Root .62 without downgrade .42.
Can I do this?
I searched forum but I didn't found.
thanks, and sorry for bad english
it isn't possible to root .62 with any method.
if you do not want to downgrade to .42 the only method is to flash .62 img already rooted.
Thanks! Where is rooted .62 rom and how I install this romm? thanks!
is your bootloader unlocked. it must be unlocked to flash .62 img already rooted...
"Note: CanĀ“t Root with flashtools. Use the root with recovery tutorial (in this post) to root( for unlocked bootloaders)
Here is the prerooted .img 4.0.2.A.0.62 Generic Global ready to flash with fastboot (unocked bootloaders)"

Yes, .62 can be rooted if bootloader unlocked.
Don't downgrade, as it is not needed.
Find recoveryARC.img file and go into fastboot mode and boot recovery.
Don't flash it! Just boot it!
Then flash superuser zip package and reboot.
That's it.
Search for more detailed guide with exact commands and links.
Be careful!

Hello,
I have a Xperia Play R800i SIM unlocked with unlocked bootloader, firmware 2.3.4, 4.0.2.A.0.62.
Can someone link me to a Step By Step tutorial on how to root this phone? I have read this:
"Just download recoveryPLAY.img (google it) and place it in androidSDk folder where the fastboot.exe is located. Switch on your phone using fastboot and enter the command fastboot boot recoveryPLAY.img. Also download the RootXperia.zip and flash it once you are in recovery. Later on If you want CWM (recovery) on your phone , you can follow this thread."
But I don't know what fastboot is. I only know that in order to enter in fastboot mode on the phone you need to press the search button when connecting it to the PC.
Can you help me? And btw, if I manage to root the phone, will it wipe all my apps a.k.a. phone data? And what about the SD Card?
Thank You
Can't root if the firmware is .62 or higher unless you install a prerooted kernel.

And how to do that? Are there any disadvantages implied?
Thank you
Would there be any prob if I follow the tutorial to install the "Xperia NXT v1.1" Rom?
To flash a prerooted kernel you have to have an unlocked bootloader. The just follow the install guide for which ever kernel you install once you get your bootloader unlocked.
I was able to root mine without unlocking the bootloader. Search and try this pc software which is quite easy and efficient... Unlock root v 2.3.1.exe download at unlockroot.com. Hope this helps

I couldn't use that software because my r800i was .62. But I managed to flash a new room and install a new kernel. Thanks anyway.
I have the LT26i boot loader unlocked Xperia S and it was updated to 6.1.A.2.55. Its still Android 4.0.4 and not much has changed. I am trying to root it and it get all the way to where I hit the restore button but then nothing happens. I figured I can flash it back to the 6.1.A.0.452 but I ran into a snag there too. The old ics driver is not working. I am running flash tool 0.9.10.1
Is there any work around for this? Your help is much appreciated
PS
I got the new update directly from Sony.

Hi it seems untilnow there is no option for root for 6.1.A.2.55, you have to go back to some other version .45 or .50 and root that one and flash a .55 sytem to get the latest updates.
The strange thing is, i did the same and i was getting still the notification to update to .55 and i uninstalled the update service aplication.
Good luck i hope this helps.
hey try this since your bootloader is unlocked,
1.flash advanced stock kernel or ka sspeed then boot.
2. after that reboot, then flash via fastboot kernel.sin from stock ftf of .55 firmware.
"fastboot flash boot kernel.sin" without the quote ,

Thanks for the help.. But the current version of flash tool cant seem to make changes it only recognize the device
download pda.net, this will install your driver.
Hi
My problem is that it seems my Xperia Z1 Compact has no recovery. I rooted it by downgrading to .108 kernel, rooting and flashing .157 kernel.
I don't know if the no recovery problem was right after this but now I wanted to upgrade to android 5 and discovered I have no recovery. I tried:
manually to recovery (the LED won't even light up)
quickboot app
via adb
I also then unlocked bootloader and flashed kernel .sin again to see if this helps but no.
Please help

fastboot help you to put a kernel which is entered in the factory recovery partition. but you'll have to flash the (SLIM,RRREMIX) boot.img up and recovery.img the correct partition.
