web os style tasking built into ICS!! - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I may be super late to this, but came across it yesterday, while inside an app, in landscape, holding down the home key brings all the running apps up in a way where you can cycle back in forth b/t running apps, and flick them up off the screen!
if im late, just disregard. loving ICS more and more everyday lol

I saw this in one of qbking's ROM installation videos but he moved so fast through it (because the video wasn't about task swiping) I was like "wait, what was that?!" lol I love this feature and of course his videos rock!
I've seen posts regarding it but I'd be hard pressed to point out where.

No need to be in landscape either. It does it all the time.
Its actually recent apps not just running. A 3.0 feature but as far as the swipe off the screen I do not know if thats new or not.

haha didnt realize you could swipe the app of the screen. f-in DOPE!

Yea this was introduced in honeycomb but swiping to end app is new to ics
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk

The swiping is pretty awesome but I love that AOKP allows you to make portrait a vertical swipe.

I discovered this and it is one of my Favorite Features. Used it a Ton with Maps/GPS Status before GPS actually worked. Maybe someone can clarify to me if you swipe it to the Right vs. the Left does it behave differently?

Combine that with Wave Launcher for ultimate webos experience

I thought this was more well known

It pays to read the changelogs, even moreso than the owner's manual (omg you can adjust screen brightness by swiping the notification bar!)

Oh that I thought it was horizontal
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA

When you think of horizontal, think of the horizon (flat) or landscape. Vertical is standing (portrait), as in some of us (me) are vertically challenged (i.e. short).
My totally unnecessary post of the day.

I have personally found the ICS implementation to be overall slower than the GB task switching. Anand from anandtech agrees in a recent review. I suspect that it will be slower still as devices beef up the RAM, resulting in more open processes, and a lot more vertical scrolling.
I quite liked the webOS implementation of card stacking. This may find its way into post ICS versions of Android as a measure to mitigate this issue.

If you open a page on stock browser then go to settings/labs and enable quick controls it adds an onscreen tool when you touch the screen that works great

Agreed.
Though already the first thing I noticed was how nice and civil people were...and even when there was a hint of people getting confrontational everyone has been polite and apologetic. We are, after all, here for the same reason.
The way the E3D forum went down was a breeding ground for, well, exactly what it became. The forum was opened a month and a half before the device released. Add in the unlock debacle. Even worse was the fact that after HTC backed down on locking it made it seem like being rude and trolly and confrontation worked...and that was infused with the massive numbers of Hero owners coming off of contract and a massive number of us yearly upgraders getting ready for the EVO4Gs successor. Sprinkle on top the unlocking debacle and drama surrounding AlphaRevX and TeamWIN that had nothing to do with AlphaRevX or TeamWIN...for a while. Then the fact that the Sensation was a nearly identical device with not identical development and seemed like extra dev attention--regardless of the fact that everything went back and forth very quickly, that bread epic ****-tons of butthurt amongst the massive amounts of people who were already pissed on, pissed off, angry and ready to fight before the phone was even released and, well, it isn't surprising. It was sad.
I gotta say I love all you guys already.

Honestly, ICS on the touchpad was my first taste of ICS and I love it. Picked up my GN and I wish it behaved more like the tablet UI. Especially the notifications and power settings. It is so much more intuitive on the tablet. So yes, this would be awesome and I for one would be first in line to check it out.

Immediate one touch access to pop up notifications. Not full screen pull down for notifications and toggles. I would love a notifications/toggles soft key instead of a top down pane. Its less convenient to pull down an entire pane and then pull it back up when I could just access it with one touch and return to my app by tapping out of the pane.

I would love to get the Tablet UI for when the device is connected to a TV/monitor using the MHL adapter. Right now the built in Bluetooth keyboard and mouse option makes this a viable option for travel and being able to use the tablet layout when using an HDMI connection would be awesome. While the mobile UI in landscape works fine on a big screen, there is definitely room for improvement.

I actually ran into the video last night as well and decided it a go. As mikeyinid said, it is simply a clever use of nova launcher, widget locker and some custom wallpapers. Armando gives a great walk-through on how to do this but the problem i ran into was the fact that this was built for a gnex, which has a nav bar. I realize we can enable ours as well (in AOSP ROMs) but I personally don't like the look of it. Without the nav bar, it causes the wallpapers and icons to become misaligned with the intended layout, so I decided to bail
Nevertheless, a very interesting setup. I recommend anyone who uses an AOSP ROM w/ a Nav Bar to give this theme a go. Be warned, there is quite a bit a setup time but should be well worth it in the end
I actually like the ui looks

Actually is easy since he gives all the backup files and you restore them with nova, I was going to keep it but the problem is the apps icons are too small, since you need to have 6 by 6 to run the on the launcher it doesn't work good for me, I use 6 by 4 on nova

The new facebook phone looks like a launcher on top of android.
Looks really cool and it would be awesome if it can be ported over to our S3
I don't know how I would feel about Facebook being a launcher/phone having access to our entire phone..
Can you say maximum bloatware? I think most people would find it annoying

Good point, though at least with Google I feel a little more in control of my information. Each app is by itself and asks permission to do something. At the same time it integrates nicely with everything. Google Now is very customizable and I have it tuned to just find certain info. Sometimes though, I wish I knew why Maps feels the need to access my GPS so often...but at least with that I can just shut my GPS off completely. Countless times I've opened up chat on facebook, and I always turn off the GPS function because honestly I don't need people to know exactly where I am just because I'm chatting with them. It always turns itself back on no matter how many times I change it to default OFF in the settings, and it always bugs me to turn my GPS on.
I always feel the need to check my privacy settings on Facebook since they have a bad habit of changing them and "accidentally" fixing my settings so more of my stuff is out there. I'm very reluctant to only share what I know I'm sharing, I approve every picture and post I'm tagged in or that has my name on it whatsoever. Honestly I don't trust Facebook more than I don't trust Google.

It might be a nice & cheap phone for custom ROMs. Never mind stock bloatware if the hardware is good.
If price/performance is good it could sell very well. H/W is HTC so quality is likely at least decent.
If that and the bootloader is unlockable, and the phone ROM'able, I'd expect to see custom ROMs getting built eventually.
EDIT: I see it's $450 off contract. There are probably better options in that price area IMO, such as an "old" Galaxy S3, if not now then soon.
And guess what ? I've read that there will be ads all over that launcher/phone thanks god Adaway exists.

Facebook goes to our contact list anyway; it showed me option to add friend to a person who is on my contact on phone but not on facebook.
So it might do same on other side too. Its dangerous to all.
It is a launcher but it will only work on 4.0 and up but its being released for a huge line of devices including mainly HTC and Samsung as they are the supporting companies. The lock screen features are cool I just wish it was for something other than Facebook.

It would have been a lot better if it was like a custom rom based of cm. like MIUI. but a Launcher really! Im also surprise that they dont have the N4 or the GNexus as their supported devices for the launcher and the icons doesnt seem to be vanilla JB but ICS. It would be a huge fail if they released this phone with ICS. Facebook app have bugs in it. Imagine having a phone that will run facebook home as default.

It was the worst 5 minutes of my time when I was playing with it. But it would be nice to use it as a live wallpaper

[Q] Dumbest Question in the history of XDA

OK, OK.... slight exaggeration in the title, but not by much...
I'm running CM10.1 on my E4GT "Spider Man edition" (cracked screen, almost due for Sprint upgrade, waiting it out instead of TEP'ing)
Anyway, I was in the "Manage Apps" screen, uninstalling a few barely-used apps after sorting by size, trying to free up some storage and memory, and somehow, I "lost" the center icon in my doc on the home screen. You know - the white circle with all the little white dots in it, representing the app drawer. Trebuchet is still in my app list. I'm feeling pretty damn stupid, because I CANT FIGURE OUT how to get it back! It should be the most simple thing in the world to figure out how to put it back, right? I started under system settings/Launcher, and worked my way through every page and sub-page, but no luck. Can somebody please throw me a bone in exchange for a thanks? Or shoot me in the head through my laptop screen and put me out of my misery? I'll be sitting here, hitting refresh on this post every few minutes, watching last Sunday's Breaking Bad episode for the 3rd time.
*GOD*.... I am SOOO gonna miss that show when it's gone for good in 7 more weeks, best show that's ever been on TV... *****es.
Mods who don't know Breaking Bad: The reference to female dogs in my last sentence in is homage to a catch-phrase of one of the main characters in the show - it's not just for gratuity.
"SAY MY NAME.... You're damn right." Heh.
Ahh crap - I guess I shoulda put this in the Q&A forum - sorry mods. Do what ya gotta do obviously.
Couldnt you long press where your wallpaper is. There is something like add or launcher actions there. You put that on your screen. Then long press over it and drag it to your dock.

Now select System Settings.
In the settings select Apps.
Scroll to the right to show all apps and find Trebuchet.
Once you're in the Trebuchet settings, clear cache and data.
Now you should have your icon to launch the app drawer, you will need to set up any widgets you had again.

Couldnt you long press where your wallpaper is. There is something like add or launcher actions there. You put that on your screen. Then long press over it and drag it to your dock.

Unfortunately that doesn't work with Trebuchet. Only third party launchers such as Nova or Apex. Here's what you see when you long press the home screen with Trebuchet...

Trebuchet launcher that comes with CyanogenMod has come very far from what it used to be, it still has a lot of potential if the CM team continues to add features it could replace third party launchers such as Nova or Apex since it seems like they have been taking away features that used to be available in the free versions. Seems like they have shifted their focus from offering more features for free to now wanting money for said features.
Edit: I forgot to cheers!

Whoah..... I mean, it worked (thanks given), but it's not just my widgets that disappeared.; It took away every single app shortcut, folder, and widget from ALL of my homescreens. Was there *really* no other way I could have gotten back the app drawer launcher icon? Really? REALLY? No, seriously.... R.E.A.L.L.Y.????
Not directing frustration at your fix - you answered my question and fixed my problem. I just can't believe that there haven't been enough people who've inadvertently deleted the app drawer icon from the dock to motivate the Trebuchet Dev to create an option to put it back without wiping out the entire front-end of the phone. At least i KNOW how I'll be spending the rest of my night. Holy crap!!!

I guess that's motivation to request that the CM team adds a few more features to Trebuchet... Features such as backup/restore, home screen actions, etc.
I'll share this on G+ with the CyanogenMod community to raise awareness.

I got Nova prime when it was on sake foot $0.25. Definitely worth the money, even at full price.
That autocorrect is so terrible I'm leaving it for effect. It's supposed to say on sale for.

Funny, I really like the sake foot. Makes me laugh.
As far as the op's issue, I know you already had it reset, but I am wondering if changing how many icons were down in the dock would have brought it back?
Edit: now that I have the new xda app, I can't attach pictures, so ...
Trebuchet settings>dock>icons.
