How do i disable the notification light - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi can i disable the light on top of the phone that blinks when you got missed call, or new messages? i don;t see any options on display for it, i am using 2.3.3, do i need 2.3.4 to turn it off.

Anyone? please

Please help!!!!

Are you using stock or a custom rom? If you're on stock you can try an app called light flow lite. If you're on a custom rom then check on the thread that you got that rom from. I know cm7 has the ability to disable it built in

Just curious, but the only way I've found to do this is dim it in quote hours. Is there a way to completely disable it though?

[Q] Is there a way to change the camera shutter to a phsyical button?

Is there a way to change the camera shutter to a physical button? Preferably with the stock camera app but if there's a separate app I may check it out. Maybe a ROM or a patch for a ROM? I'm running Codename Android 1.5.5 at the moment.

Open stock camera, go to settings, power shutter on.
This sets the power button as the camera button.
If the screen goes off then close the app open it again and try again.
It works coz I use it all the time.
This is a feature in the Cm9 camera. You might be able to find the apk if you do a search.
Thanks. I just found it right after I posted this lol. I don't know why I didn't check the settings. I thought I would have to download something. Is this in the stock ROM or is this something added to Codename Android?

hello mate. I believe u can't use samsung stock dialer and contacts in AOKP/AOSP roms. it needs samsung touchwiz interface, so it won't work on AOKP/AOSP roms.
By the way stock dialer and MMS app have a lot of features more than Google app

still a noob
Sorry if this is a silly question, but is there a ROM that I can still use my stock phone and contacts app?
I suppose my #1 reason for a new ROM is battery life and faster speeds. In other words, if an AOKP ROM doesn't support these apps, what will? Is it simply a Touchwiz compatibility issue? Not a copyright issue with Samsung's own apps?

If u are using AOKP rom, then u will only get AOKP stuffs. u will not get samsung dialer and contact apps. that's the way it is, mate. u can't simply have what u want, but this is how AOKP roms are made. I believe there is Touchwiz compatibilty issue and no devs has been ported these into AOKP roms yet.. for battery life, u may want to check what apps is running on the background that may cause u battery drain. make sure when u exit any apps, press the back button until u see the main homescreen. do not simply press the home button because that will cause u apps not exiting properly. it will still run on the background thus, causing u battery drain. look here for more info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809 I use this on my device and has help me a lot.

You can use it, if you're using one and only Stock and Stock based ROMs.
If AOKP/AOSP doesn't supports means only Stock ROM can.
It's not only Touchwiz compatibility issue, it depends on several things such as framework, system UI & few lib,XML permission files etc.
There is copyright for Samsung apps. Including it with AOSP doesn't make an infringement I believe. More importantly Android is an Open Source

can I know why you don't want to root? it solves all problems and give you the opportunity to have a faster and much better phone experience
You will not lose any data.. only add root, is fast and super easy to do

You can do it without any root. You just have to edit the apk in order to make it work with multiwindow.. There was an app here on xda that modifies the apk, so you only need to download the apk from whatsapp site (not the market), edit it, and install.. All should be fine

hw can i do it
i found few apps where i didnt have to root but the were available fr multiwindow
but only whatsapp is giving the trouble its not getting installed
i found those apps here

May i ask why you wanna use whatsapp in multiview? I tried it and its useless, the whole multiview is useless in my opinion, oke its nice to annoy ipnone owners
i use whatsapp very often
so if its available in multiwindow
i can workout easily
I think we just have to wait on the app devs to develop apps that can properly handle multi view.
Lord knows some are still not fully 4.1.2 friendly and worse with 4.2 on the nexus.
Whats app is in bad need of some updates. For example: scrolling is awful... even on 4.2
So I say we just have to wait.

[Q] Just bought new Xperia S. need help with customizing

Hello xda members,
as you all know, the navigation buttons (home, back.settings) in Xperia s are kinda frustrating, you don't really see them and have to guess where to press.
I have official 4.0.4 "sony ROM" on my device, few questions:
1) what is the easiest way to make the navigation buttons visible? (I don't want to change my ROM, I like the official one..)
2) is there official JB ROM for this device?
AW: [Q] Just bought new Xperia S. need help with customizing
1. I think theres a code line you have to add to build prop Just search the forum for it.
2. No but its getting updated to Jb in April We're all waiting anxiously

You need to root your phone before being able to do what you want. What build number do you currently have in settings / about phone

Can I root my Xperia S (Stock ICS 4.0.4) without reverting it back to GB? Most of the threads I've seen here require the phone to be running on Gb. Build number of my phone is 6.1.A.2.55
don't have the phone next to me right now, I'll check it later
I'm familiar with the root process, after I root it, whta should I do to enable the navigation bar?

Download the OSB enabler or install a custom ROM with it (such as XZX), which has it built in and some add ons to make them smaller.

Just download the script provided in the link, run it with the phone connected. Probably the only known way of gaining root access on 2.55 right now.
For the on-screen buttons you can add
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
to build.prop and reboot.

…just in case you want to use custom-rom: with PAC you get various options to customize and the "on-screen-buttons" are enabled as default - i dont use them, because i m used to the "hardware" nav-buttons.
But i remember, when using stock-rom i had little problems too using them …
DO NOT root your phone or install Custom Rom, just try to get used to it.
You'll be fine after a while, believe me

I dont think it will conflict with nooz but better un-install it first while installing this mod..
You can't disble the SoundAlertLevel.Apk because it is actually the one that make you go beyond the alert level. without it the phone will not exceed 60% volume... just to find a version of it that does not throw the warning sign...
i found a workaround..when i select sound enhancement in music effects the issue happens, but when i select noozxoide it doesnt happen...
so i think @lewis021 is right, its a sony thing
