I can't be the only one that doesn't even remotely care about the camera or beats headphones, can I?
Well, the Beats headphones, anyway. Only thing I care about with those is that I can disable Beats and get a nice flat equalizer so I can use the phone with my quality Sennheiser cans, rather than overhyped Beats nonsense.
If you bothered to read other friends, you'd have realised that it was just an equaliser setting, and you can swap between "Normal" "Bass" "Rock" etc, as well as the 'optimised' "Beats" setting.

I presume you're talking to me. I *have* bothered to read, but I don't know for sure if "Normal" is the same thing as a flat equalizer. I've never had an HTC phone before; for all I know "Normal" isn't the same as "Flat" in HTC-speke.

lol, I know, don't care though. Sure the camera is cool and all, just don't use it that much. I just don't buy the sound marketing crap, but I can understand them advertising it all seeing as the general consumer is clueless.
The rest of the phone seems really amazing though, can't wait for it!

On the banner: "Authentic Sound. Amazing Camera. HTC One X"
That is the biggest thing there.
so apparently the One X doesn't even come with Beats headphones unless you get the deluxe edition which comes with Solo's.........wtf?
It comes with just some standard headset that "uses" the beats flat-no tangle cord
And yea, the Camera is absolutely ridiculous for a cell phone, but thats why I have a DSLR for...to take nice pictures, most smartphones suffice for point and shoots

Conflicting reports in UK .If it's a contract phone it looks like you get UBeats if its sim free you get bog standard ..only time will tell
So people who want a stylish, quad core phone with an awesome screen should tun their nose up at the One X because HTC isn't marketing those features quite as hard?
quad-core is more of a gimmick IMO, good thing about it is mainly the tegra zone support....but in general Krait with two cores > four Cortex-A9 cores by a huge margin. It's a generational gap basically.......
When they start pumping out quad-core A-15 or something, then we're talking. But as of now, Krait has a huge performance leap. How much that translates into real-world usage is to be seen. It wins though....it wins. You probably won't actually "fell/notice" it though....maybe a bit snappier in everything? though almost everything is already fast as heck. Apps and things need to start utilizing these speed increases
I also have a pair of noise-cancelling bluetooth stereo headphones so couldn't give a s**t about urbeats or nobeats!
The camera is a nice plus but I'm not too fussed about it because I recognise that this is a phone first and everything else second so the camera is unlikely to be perfect for all occasions.

Is there anyone that knows how to make the rear speaker LOUDER! on the Sprint HTC Arrive? When you turn the volume up, it's still not loud enough. I use SlingPlayer with it and have trouble hearing it on this phone. I did not have any problem hearing the SlingPlayer on my Sprint HTC Touch Pro2 at all. The volume goes up to 30. What is 30? Why not 100? Can you guy's PLEASE HELP with this issue.
While I don't have an answer to your question (my Arrive is just as loud as my TP2), the number 30 is just a number. All it means is that the full spectrum of the volume is divided into thirty increments. It doesn't mean that the phone is less loud. Putting 100 and having an increment at every one would take a long time to turn the volume all the way up or all the way down. I wouldn't let the 30 bother you.
Perhaps the way you're holding it or placing it is blocking the speaker? The three green spots on the back are where the speaker is, and covering it can actually significantly reduce the volume. Likewise, if you're setting it down, the surface makes a difference. Putting it on the couch muffles it, while putting it on a table actually helps.
Hope this helps.
@hopmedic: None of that matters. Not saying it's not true (most of it is), but the problem is the phone, not the way he's holding it or where he's putting it.
If you want a good speaker on your phone, don't buy an HTC phone. Buy a Samsung. All of HTC's phones have ****ty speakers. The HD7's speakers are crap too, as was the HD2's speakers (though marginally better since both are on the front of the phone).
There's really no reason to get an HTC WP7 device, TBQH. HTC is known for having good software/skinning, but you cannot do that on WP7. The only thing I'd say is worth it is for their YouTube App, but it's not worth getting their crappy hardware for. For a WP7 device, go with a Manufacturer who puts out decent hardware, and avoid HTC, IMO. HTC makes their money by churning out as many cheaply made phones as they can and putting them everywhere. Volume usurps quality for them (though they're always talking about how they want to make the highest quality phones, yet they still keep giving us phones with speakers that are useless for multi-media and speakerphone purposes, AFAIK).
Of course, for some of us there isn't much choice. It's HTC or go home for WP7. I wasn't about to order from Dell cause I like being able to go in the store when I have issues, so the HD7 was the only real choice for me.
HTC is great for Android due to HTC Sense being so superior to TouchWiz and Blue. For WP7, Samsung is the best choice. They have the best hardware with the best screens, cell radios/reception, and the best speaker/sound output (though they seem to try hard to miff up whatever they can when software is involved, even WP7). Samsung could have better cameras, but the lack of a Flash on so many of their phones just makes them useless to me for that purpose. I'm so often indoors and in inoptimally lighted areas (rinks, etc.) that having no flash is a becoming a dealbreaker on a smartphone these days.

This is simply false information. While I admit that HTC has been lazy with many of their Android phones, and perhaps even some of their Windows Phones, it simply isn't the case with the Arrive. As I will show in my side by side comparison later today is that the speaker is just as loud, and perhaps better than on my Samsung Focus device.
I watch SlingPlayer all the time. When I watched it on my Sprint HTC Touch Pro2, I had the phone propped up with the speaker at a 45% angle away from me. It is MUCH LOUDER on the HTC Touch Pro2 than on the HTC Arrive, with the phone in the exact same position. I did not have any tweak's installed at all to make the speaker any louder at all. I just wish that someone would come out with a tweak for making the rear speaker WAY LOUDER!

That probably has something to do with the fact that the WP7 phones use largely the same hardware with the same drivers.
My vibrant blows any WP7 device out of this world when it comes to sound volume, clarity, and quality.
HTC phones are **** for sound.
Sorry, that's just the way it is, and that's just the way it's always been.
It's not false. I have two of the here and I've played with the Arrive in the Sprint store.
The sound quality is ****.
And that's embarassing seeing as how "Every WP7 device is a ZuneHD" (as per Ballmer).
Give me a Zune App for my Vibrant and I'll never look back.

OK, well I just did some side by side comparison between the HTC Arrive and Samsung Focus. Up to this point, I had not done this thorough of a side by side. Both me and a friend tested this. He honestly has no bias, as he is not into the whole smartphone thing. I have already admitted elsewhere that I would buy the Samsung over the HTC because I like the Samsung formfactor more, but clearly I have had time to form bias.
Either way, in an exact side by side (disabled sound enhancers on the HTC - which can make the volume quieter) and played some songs.
Results: The Focus is ever so slightly louder, but also sounds more stressed (worse quality as my friend described it). My friend quickly decided he liked the sound of the HTC better as it was clearer. My personal opinion is that yes the Focus did sound a little more stressed, and I think this is due to it being slightly more full on the lower sounds, where as the HTC lends its self more to the mids and highs. When I turn on SRS on the HTC, it fills out those lows better (even more than on the Focus), but is actually too much for the external speaker to handle at full volume, and resultantly becomes worse than the Focus.
My conclusion on this is that they must have a fairly similar speaker, and one is just handling sound slightly different than the other. You can max out the HTC speaker without getting stressed sound, where as it seems like the Samsung speaker is being pushed more, which then at full volume is simply too much for the speaker. The Samsung is louder, but the difference is negligible, as I honestly couldn't hear a difference, and when both devices are synced to play the same song (both turned to 25), I can't distinguish between he two devices. It is just one sound.
In the write up I plan as early today, I will go into the sound enhancer at greater depth.
But my point in this quick write up is that if the Samsung is the standard (which you used) then the HTC meets the standard with flying colors.
As a side note: The placement of the HTC speaker is somewhat problematic with how I hold the phone for gaming - in how I balance the handset in my hand. I find myself covering the speaker a little more often than I do on the Samsung. Both have poor placement for that. This is only specific to the some games I play, due to their onscreen buttons. On the HTC I am able to slide the keyboard out to solve the problem, and on the Samsung, there is usually enough play in the grippable area of the device that I can just move my hand into a different position.
To the OP: Check the sound enhancer and make sure those are all disabled. They are excellent for headphones, not so much for the speaker.
While I do agree to a limited extent about the quality of the sound from the Arrive or Touch Pro 2, my Arrive has a ridiculously loud speaker for what it is. I actually wish I could make it quieter than it is at its volume setting of 1.
The speaker is easy to block depending on how you hold it or how it is set on a certain surface, but for the most part it still is loud enough for most environments.
The one thing I really do not like is the lack of the 2nd mic like the TP2 had for Noise Cancellation. Without that 2nd mic people can't seam to hear me for crap compared to the old TP2 Speakerphone. Oh well, at least we got a flash again. lol
Great device otherwise.

I haven't used the speakerphone yet, so didn't realize the issue on the second mic. Agreed on the speaker being quite loud enough - hold it to your cheek and you can feel the air moving. And yes, I would like to have a volume lower than 1.

Sound enhancer does not work without speakers. The only thing that does work is switching it to SRS and Dolby Surround (or nothing), and that has no impact on volume from what I've seen/heard. The EQ/etc. requires headsets, or the options are greyed out.

IMO the SRS on the handset speaker makes the frequencies too low and makes the speaker crackle when the volume is maxxed out.
I don't use SRS, and that wasn't my point. My point was that except for changing to Dolby or SRS there isn't anything you can do in Sound Enhancer without a headset, and the Headset-in settings do not apply to the external speakers.
The Sound Enhancer is not the root of the issue. And his phone is not broken.
This has nothing to do with the sound enhancer at all. There have been many complaints about the LOW sound on the Sprint HTC Arrive. If ANYONE can come up with a HACK, PATCH, or PROGRAM for the Sprint HTC Arrive to increase the Volume, PLEASE LET EVERYONE HERE KNOW ABOUT IT.
I know that there are a LOT of BRILLIANT DEVELOPERS here that can come up with something to help us all with this problem.

lol ahh still passing off your bs opinions off as facts huh? To an untrained eye your fallacies and evidence laden (;-)) bs might actually seem true. Too bad I've compared my HD7 to a Vibrant side by side and found that the Vibrant has a deeper sound, but not more clarity (at reasonable volume). It doesn't sound much louder and still gets tinny and/or distorted at high volumes. You fail again kid. No smartphone I've ever seen has a much better sound system then the HD7. Some are noticeably better, but none blow it away as you said. You want awesome sound on a smartphone? My Blackberry kills any Android phone =)
My problem is not so much with the speaker but the headphone volume. I have some ripped TV shows that I watch on my phone but I can barely hear the dialogue in the show because the volume maxes out.
Is there any way to increase the volume on the file during Zune transfer or use another program to recode the file with a louder volume? I used to use smartmovie to convert my shows to a compressed .avi and was able to boost the volume by 150% but can't find that option in Zune.
I have downloaded World MP3and had used that to listen to music. With that program, the Rear Speaker works just fine. There is no problem with hearing anything when I use World MP3 to listen to songs. When I use HTC YouTube, or any Variant of YouTube, the same as everything else, Very Low Rear Speaker. As I had said before, I think that it is either Microsoft with the New OS, HTC with their software, or both. I hope that someone can figure this out and HELP! We want and expect that when we get a Good High End Phone, that there will not be any issues with it that could and would be a Deal Breaker. As per the VERY VERY POOR REAR SPEAKER. Actually, from what I9 had observed myself, it doesn't seem as if it's the Rear Speaker. The HTC hardware seems very solid, but the performance of it when used with Windows Phone 7, SUCKS ROYALLY !!!! The layout took a little to get used to. It's different than Windows Mobile 6.5, which is close to using a PC. I really hope that Microsoft and HTC get together with this issue. If it's this bad on this Reputable Manufactured Phone by HTC, what about the other Windows Phone 7 Phones by any and all other Manufacturers. I just hope that this is a small isolated issue, but I'm beginning to feel that it's a much bigger issue that not too many people are complaining about.
Microsoft and ALL of the Manufacturers of Windows Phone 7 phones should take a much better and closer look into this issue. Microsoft, you are spending Billions into Windows Phone 7 between R&D, Advertising, Distribution, & Support. You don't want an issue like this to make you loose ANY MARKET SHARE AT ALL! You need this to be a HUGE HIT. This could throw a wrench into your plans and cost you dearly. Get this issue fixed.
Fix this issue with the MANGO UPDATE. That gives you enough time to get it fixed.

I really think it has to do with coding. You can watch previews on flickr, fandango, and through imdb, and flickr and fandango are almost silent at max volume, but imdb (probably pulling previews from the same source) is much louder.
I have found using youtube, that I have to set the volume at 10-15, but with slingplayer, I use it at max volume and it is tolerable, but not as loud as it should be. You might just want to use some headphones.
Games are seriously loud and if they can play the videos that loud, then the other videos should be able to as well.

Really??? The tp2 had the best speakers of any smartphone I have used for loudness and clarity. I can see the OP being disappointed coming from that phone to the arrive. I had the same adjustment when going from the tp2 to the hd2.
For someone who claimed to be the resident xda vibrant hater, you sure do love that device.
I'm beginning to think that you hate any device you currently use.
I can not wear any headphones while I'm working. I can keep the phone on my desk & watch my SlingBox, but under no circumstances can I use headphones. That would attract too much attention.

I have a slightly different issue with my Arrive. The volume is too low only a certain times. When using earphones while watching video from netflix or any other application, when using the speaker phone.
when playing games the speaker is loud, almost too loud. the speaker phone and ringer are way too low. The alarm is too low.
All of these were very loud on my tp2.
Anyone have an answer for this?

i was considering to buy this phone because of the beats audio feature and the simplicity of the OS....
i really like the colors it comes in and i wanna stop worrying if my phone gets a custom firmware, i want to become a simple user again who doesn't care about bootloaders and hacks also i wouldn't mind if there were any.
now it comes down to your opinions, doyou think its a good phone? are you happy with it?
please consider to describe me the pro's and con's of the htc 8s and if you like about the wp8 pro's and con's too.
currently i'm using a lg l5
thanks

Hi toby,
I have bought it on Friday to my son and I can tell you, that the phone is amazing value for the money (approx. 300 USD). The size and weight are great and the phone fits just right to the hand. I have myself HTC HD7, and compared it to 8S I just realized how much my phone is ancient...
I love the feeling of the material of which the 8S is build, the lightness and the quality of the display. Also the speed and smoothness is incredible.
Son also bought 32GB SD card and copied almost all of his music to it. The Beast Audio sound is great with my Bose headphones and we both love it.
The only drawback I see is lack of HTC apps if you compare it to Nokia. Especially I am missing HTCs DLNA app to play music over the air on our Pioneer Receiver.
Hope this helps

is there anything else i should know about ?
Beats audio is awesome as always. The phone fits perfect in my hand and i love the build quality (it doesn't feel like cheap plastic like samsung) you can easily do everything with one hand. Like i said it's a great phone but i'm a little dissapointed about games and apps from the windows market. The good ones aren't free :/ (if someone know how to get free paid apps pls tell). And i have the domino one (black and white) . The yellow one looks awesome but you can't get it in my country -.-
I think the only minus for this phone is just the small internal memory. That's it.

Yep, the small internal memory is the weakest point of the phone (besides the bad camera photos). But if MS decides to let you install apps on SD Card this won't be the issue. Overall your getting a lot for your money, simple and elegant and most of all fast
I think one problem with apps on SD cards is the performance of these apps...
There are a lot of bad and slow SD cards out there... this would decrease the performance of these apps a lot...
There should be a least a option for navigation programs and similar apps to store maps and content on the SD card....
I like my ZL more than my iPhone 4, but after seen a HTC one and how the speakers work and where they are, Sony should learn from it and make the next xperia's speakers better and on the front or down side like the iPhone. Big, useful and nice design unlike Sony widget...it's small and not nice to look when on big screen...kinda boring...but I like the transparent in home screen...both I like about Sony and HTC is the status bar...if you think about it, both of them have the beautiful status bar...only both of them have a horizontal battery icon, not vertical like the others..same like iphone...and look kinda nice not like others which look kinda cartoonish...I have many others but too much to say...and about hardware wise...the design on both of them is premium to hold and beautiful to see..about the speaker position, I don't care where they put it unless its not covers with my hand when I hold it and hope it loud enough to heard....speakers in front is useful when listening to music and watch movies and that a great advantage in One..Sony who have been in entertainment business should know better to not only put listening pleasure only when putting a pair of headphone...on when I agree with you on this one but not want to Sony to use the same aspect as the One, it will unbalance the design aspect...but just hope for the best I think...?

In all this years I haven't used the phone speakers even once. I think they should stay as cheap as they are so we don't have to pay an abnormal price for the xperia like the HTC One. It costs 150 Euro more then the xperia z.
I know how we laughed at the HTC commercial because their only argument was the speaker position. Wth do you need the speaker on a phone for?

Agreed.. I used it only sometimes during a call..but that's about it..I don't care about the quality..I guess on the front makes more sense but I wouldn't pay more for it
HTC has best speakers at the moment, but this is still not it, the sound is still shallow/dull. If I want to listen music I will use my hi-fi system not a smart phone
err I think it htc one has more much more then loud speakers going for it. Screen, UI, stability, design, smoothness, hardware. The only things I prefer my ZL over my HTC One is the notification light, ext memory and possibly camera and all other depts. HTC One kills it.
So SOny could learn a lot from HTC.
Bought one of the BT/wired sony sphere speakers if I want to play music louder on the go. For general phone use, I really don't care as long as it's good enough quality to use speakerphone without it sounding like complete crap (which it is).
I really doubt this is any kind of a major purchasing factor.

millions disagree with you. Why pay for additional speakers and have to carry the buggers around when you can have built in front loud speakers!!
I owe ZL and the speaker sound is crap compared to HTC One and that is no exaggeration.

You don't "have to", otherwise people wouldn't be buying millions and millions of phones by other manfacturers that don't have this speaker setup... That is not conjecture.

I'm not comparing other phone just ZL..out of the 2 One is the one, we all know which One is outselling the other. Had I not HTC one to compare to ZL I probably sound like you but fortunately I'm not a fanboy of either just prefer better smartphones.
A phone speaker is made to play notification sounds and for handsfree calling, nothing else. To play music, use decent speakers. I hate it when idiots mess up music by playing it through the tiny speaker of their mobile phones.

It is not just for music, with a screen like the ZL, you can watch movies and videos too. The quality of the speakers always matter and perhaps does not matter to you but other people who watch or listen to multimedia in their ZL is very important

Only my opinion - ZL's back speaker is very decent, I can say above average, and satisfy completely for watching movies, youtube etc. If ZL will have front speakers it will be bigger, but I had bought ZL because it has perfect dimensions for 5'' phone and again my opinion, ZL is one of the best phones in the market at the moment:good:

I can agree with you completely regarding improvements, there's always place for improvements
I disagree, if a video has a sound that requires good sound i just use my earbuds, if more then one person would like to see it the smartphone is note the best gadget to display it (specially one with poor display angles like ZL). I do agree that the speaker should be louder (it's hard to hear waze directions if my car's radio is on), but that's all, all other function of the cel speaker only requires an ok speaker.
Sometimes I don't know if we are talking about same phones. My ZL's speaker is even too loud, volume never at maximum and no problem listening radio and navigation directions ...

Ermmm. No. Stability and fluidity is comparable. And nope, Xperia Z have a nicer design, though it's a personal preference. Hardware? Please be more detailed?
And nope, HTC One simply don't kill anyone. Sony sold 9.6 million phones last quarter which thrashed HTC, Motorola and BB's figures.
This shows that Xperia Z is more appealing to consumers compared HTC One.

I disagree. The launch of the Motorola X was this majorly hyped event by Google. Yet, looking at the X as a ZL owner, I see that Sony did it right. The ZL is the phone for those who want the biggest screen on the smallest body with no compromises on performance or memory expandability.
The One is a nice phone... but it's smaller screen and taller body (the cost of the speakers) isn't the only choice to be made.
On a usage basis, I do often listen to music on the ZL... in the car over bluetooth (google play music has replaced XM Radio) and on the train/plane/gym over (non-oem) headphones. The only time I listen to the speaker is when my phone is having problems with bluetooth connections to my car and I want to talk and drive.
In my list of things for sony to put on a late 2013/2014 ZL, I'd place upgraded processor first, bigger battery second, better viewing angle/lower battery hog screen 3rd, keeping microSD 4th, better camera/top placement on front camera 5th, slimmer design 6th, changed placement of microusb port 7th.
maclancer said:
I like my ZL more than my iPhone 4, but after seen a HTC one and how the speakers work and where they are, Sony should learn from it and make the next xperia's speakers better and on the front or down side like the iPhone. I am however like more how the HTC one have the speakers, man what a big difference. Do you guys agree?

I think so, a good audio process chip is much important than a good speaker.
TL;DW:
"It's like a dream come true": It has a great software experience, far superior compared to the one in the G7 ThinkQ. Apps open faster and it's more fluid in general.
LG still hasn't disclosed whether this phone will be released globally or not and at what price, although Canada is a confirmed market. One thing is certain: in the words of LG, this is a midrange device. Expect to be priced accordingly (400-700 USD)
Key differences between the G7 One and G7 ThinQ:
* The most important difference is that it runs stock android, since the phone is part of the Android One program. This means that it'll get 2 years of regular updates (Android 9.0 Pie update is confirmed for all Android One devices) plus 1 year extra of security updates.
* Another difference is its design and build. The G7 One features a black matte glass back that is much easier to grip as well as aluminum sides that match the rest of the body, instead of stainless steel sides like on the ThinQ.
* It only features the regular 16mpx f1.6 camera, not the wide angle one and the camera app doesen't have manual controls either. On the bright side, images have a lot less image processing in comparison.
* It has a Snapdragon 835, rather than the ThinQ's 845.
* It has 4 GB of RAM instead of 6 GB.
* It doesen't have wireless charging.
* This version is running Android 8.1, whereas the reviewer's ThinQ is still running 8.0.
Specs that stay the same way:
* 6.1 inch IPS display, 32bit HiFi Quad DAC, BoomBox speaker, fingerprint scanner, dedicated Google Assistant button, IP68 water and dust resistance, 3000 mAh battery, Qualcomm QuickCharge 3.0.
What do you think about the G7 One? Would you buy it? Is it better or worse than the G7 ThinkQ?

Hi, i just got it from koodo here in Canada for 435$ total. I had a 125$ rebate cause I'm a long term customer, but that also implies that it's a 560$ phone. At that price I think we have a deal on our hands.

Interesting. That's less than 430 USD. It seems that currently price is flowing between 400-600 USD.
If it's not too much to ask, could you do a quick review about the phone? Namely about things that the reviewer didn't cover such as battery life, quad DAC, speaker performance, etc?

Hi,
I've had the phone for about 2 weeks now. As for battery life, I cant complain. But I'm a light user. I'm getting a full 2 days of use between charges. Where I can provide some useful feed back is the speaker and dac. For the speaker, i would compare it to an ipad, maybe a little louder. It does fill a small room quite well if all you want to do is have background music. I'm an enthusiast "audiophile" so i wont be using it for this much, but its good to get the kids dancing and such. Obviously there is little to no base, but it does get surprisingly loud.
Ok, for the DAC, this surprised me. Its drives my 50 ohm HD558's with ease. The soundstage is broad and clear allowing you to listen to each instrument independently. There is lots of definition in lower frequencies. A really great listening experience. Its like having one of the DragonFly, or FIO, etc. USB DAC/AMPs built right into the phone. Plus, so far im only listening to 320kbs spotify downloads. It supports flack, etc. For someone who listens to lots of music, this is a very nice surprise. I was expecting some "bass boost bull****" but no, this is a legit DAC for listening to music the way it was recorded. For fun, I plugged in my HD6xx and its clearly not powerful enough to drive 300 ohms adequately. But no phone or normally priced ubs dac/amp can. So for the 435$ CAD i paid, i feel i got some great value here given the phone's performance as a music player.
Other thoughts, screen is great. Colors are good, viewing angles are great. Nice and bright. Back is a little slippy for my tastes. Camera app right now is bare bones, reds are over saturated but it works just fine. No "portrait" mode but thats coming apparently... If you want photography, get a DSLR. But if you XDA guys can get the google camera working on it... that would be nice Its plenty fast at opening and navigating apps.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for your input, really appreciated!
I'm really tempted by this phone. I can have it on a Koodo tab for 360$ which is a good deal.
I'm looking at the MIA2 as well, but this phone seams superior in almost every spec except the storage.
The only thing that makes me hesitate is that the xda forum is almost empty :/
I've had a weird experience with my LGG3 also (It was great for the 1st year and then it became really unstable, and network was always disconnecting), so i'm also a bit hesitant towards LG.
After multiple weeks how is the battery life ? and the camera ?
I get 24-hour battery life through my average use. A couple of phone calls, lots of browsing, some YouTube videos. Not sure of the SOT, but coming from my 3 year old Moto X2, which was never great at 2300 mAh, this LG 3000 is much better.
Can the bootloader be unlocked easily? LG phones typically don't make it easy for Canadians, not sure if Android One changes that for this phone.
Thanks!

I don't think it's possible
I noticed that the sound quality of the built-in speakers is... terrible... to be putting it mildly. Initially I thought there was just a lot of bass but during calls the sound is very "sharp" but not in a good way, more like hurting my ears piercing. When I'm playing videos or music, not only is the top speaker at most half of the lower speaker's volume, but the overall experience is like the phone was dropped into a tin can. I already tried Wavelet to balance the speakers but the sound quality still is abysmal. My 3.5 year-old S9+ outperforms the 6Pro by far. The little things that bother me with this phone keep adding up and I'm not sure how many more I can take. At least the call quality should be OK, right?
.... Hopefully it ain't anything wrong with your device but I definitely don't have such an issue. I think the sound is great. Honestly I'm kind of impressed at how well the top speaker sounds yet I can barely even see the speaker based on how seamless the screen goes into the frame at the top.
Is it the best sound of any smart phone... No I'm sure it's not. Is it better than my pixel 4XL which had great sound to me, Yes. They are actually the same loudness yet the 6 pro sound is clearer at full volume. I understand that sound is subjective however I would have to 1000% disagree with you.

So there might be something wrong with the device? The sound is basically like a 48 kbit MP3 file
EDIT: Maybe I'll head over to Best Buy this weekend to talk to the folks there and get a replacement if necessary.

Thank you! I'll let y'all know
ironically a semi audiophile on reddit did a full on rant today how the audio had too much bass
meanwhile reviews say the speakers sound good and have actual bass for once but the mids/high increase the higher the volume gets
honestly these are very good sounding speakers for a smartphone especially when i compare to my galaxy note 9
For me the speakers are great, I have compared the sound with the iphone 13 and I have to say the pixels are better, at least for me. I know that for some they have too much bass, but for me it is perfect

I don't know how good the S9+ sounds, never had one. What I can tell is that the P6 Pro sounds good, it has a slight imbalance between top and bottom, but in terms of clarity and bass, it's a good sounding phone speaker. So either your expectations are extraodinary, or your device is defective. Best go to the place where you bought it and ask that the store rep compares the sound of your phone to one that they have on display, that way you can quickly find out if your device has a defect.
Thank you all! Is there a good app or sound piece that I can use to test?

Wow really? You have them side by side and compared? I ask because my 4 XL was definitely better than my 2 XL and the 6 Pro is definitely louder and has more range than my 4 XL at all volume increments. I agree it's ever so slightly louder on the bottom speaker than the ear piece one but it's not horrible.

Yeah in your home or reasonably quieter area than Best Buy, the difference is very noticeable. I keep all my sound volumes a little lower than my 4 XL settings because it's that much louder.
