Will A500 docking station fit A100 - Acer Iconia Tab A100

Does anyone have both A500 and A100? Does anyone know if the A100 will fit into the A500 docking station? The A100 docking station is double the price of the A500 unit.

I was looking into this a while back, and it seems that it does, the guys over at acertabletforum.com have more info, here http://www.acertabletforum.com/foru...iscussions/301-docking-port-capabilities.html and, http://www.acertabletforum.com/forum/acer-iconia-tab-accessories/1266-a500-desk-dock.html
I, too, find that the price for the A100 dock is absolutely insane, it truly is ridiculous considering the A500 dock is near enough the same.

Does anybody know if the w500 keyboard will fit the a100? There doesn't seem to be an a100 one on the site.

Yep, had both, and picked up the dock a while back when it was on sale for the A500. Fits on there just fine.

Yup it fits. I have a A100 tablet in a A500 dock. There's a little bit of room left over on each side of the tablet but it works fine.

I'm considering the docking station, however does it only sit in portrait, or does it allow landscape as well? I'm looking to adapt it to my car, and would really need it to sit in landscape mode.
Thanks..

The designer was soo dumb.
Imagine how cool could a landscape dock look like, it could work as a nght clock too.
I have one of the docks. It is stupid that you have to plug in the phone manually, but for now I guess its the best we can get. The blue LED is a bit of a problem when you're using the phone and dock as a bedside clock.
Also, if you get the dog, turn the phone into a fancy clock with LightningBug app. It's like one of those mood things that plays sounds and visuals to calm you down or make you sleep. Looks awesome in the dock, like some super high tech alarm clock.
I suppose the big problem with gettin a dock is that the usb is in the side of the phone so it have to have a rotating holder too.

I agree, you want it to be simple and not have to struggle with a cable if you want to dock your phone, so, does anyone know a docking station that does not require a cable?
Ok i found a landscape dock for Blackberry Storm 2, which is ALMOST same size, but the position of the usb can be incorrect. I dont have 20$ to try, if somebody would like, here : http://shop.crackberry.com/blackberry-charging-pod/5A100A5980.htm
They failed bigtime on this! How hard would it be to make one... I thought that someone in hong kong would be banging out loads of these.

This Desire Z dock would almost be perfect if it weren't for the fact that the mini port is located futher back on the Desire Z rather than dead-center like it is on the Wildfire. It may fit with a bit of sanding but I wouldn't give it any hope if you have a bulky case on the phone.
There must be something out there that fits or is bigger.
Bigger isn't really a problem as any space between the connector and the backwall can be padded out (I would actually prefer it to be too big as that gives more flexibility with fitting 3rd-party cases) and who really cares if the dock is too long or if the front of the phone overhangs the front of the dock a little?
As long as the phone sits securely and is easy to drop on and lift off, I'd be happy.
I think i saw one nice dock for WF at play.com, check there if ur from european country.

I was wondering if anybody knew of a landscape dock that can be for home use, as far as charging. If so, i was hoping for a motorola droid type dock, because I like how simplistic they are, even though our charging port is on the bottom of the phone, not the side. Can you help me?

You may have to try a universal type dock to get the EVO 4G to stand on it's side. Since the EVO 4G is designed with the USB port on the bottom, pretty much all the docks that I have seen dock the EVO in portrait mode.
Actually, I prefer to dock it in landscape as well, so when I charge my phone on my nightstand at night, I just use the kickstand. But if you don't want to use the kickstand and want a dock to set it in, you could try something like this:

I have this and it works well.
I so want to do this with my KF. But I would want mine to be removable. Something like a dock that goes in place of the current head unit. Of course, without absurd wiring, you would need some kind of real head unit behind or under it.

Just ordered one of these today. I'm really worried that it won't be wide enough for the KF. Couldn't really find any specifications on how far the clamps will widen.
Once I receive it I will update you guys.
Problem for me is my cd slot is covered by the faceplate, and my windshield is rather sloped. I need a way to mount to my dash without damaging the dash itself.

Hi all, i have one of these and unfortunatly it doesnt fit the Fire. The Fire is 4.7" wide and according to Mountek's website: The cradle has a maximum spread of 4.375". I'm also looking for a mount to use the Fire as my car stereo (doing this now with a iPhone, electronic x-over and cradle mount). Plan to do the same with the Fire and an Android phone.

Sorry. Haven't had a chance to post.
I received my Mountek on Saturday. Although the KF bends the mount arms back a little bit so it's an extremely (beyond) tight fit. It's been doing it's job so far, used it about 4 times so far on half-hour drives to work.
One thing that I wish is that is was flatter against the dash rather than stick out and hang down. However, it's most likely made that way so that it works with all types of cars/stereos.

I'm looking pretty seriously at one of the RAM mounts if I do decide to do a similar hack with my car. The only problem is, I currently hate my car right now, and unless I get it fixed, that's not going to go away.

looking at the images, it looks like there is a soft part of the dock where the power buttons are, so you might be able to push them through the dock. also, im very glad to see an aux out on the dock. Coming from the N1 dock that didn't have this, it will be a great addition.

Anyone have some experience with the Exomount Universal Car Mount? I've heard good things about it and it seems like a good deal.
The exomount looks quite nice, but I have just opted for a cheap ebay one which folds nice and compact for the glovebox. I don't mount my phone very often any more, only when I need a bit of sat-nav and I know my common routes pretty well.

The aux out is AMAZING. I use a desktop dock and a Moshimoshi desktop phone that plugs into my N1. I have to plug it IN to the phone every time I put the phone into the dock, kind of obviating the purpose of a dock.
Totally thrilled about the pogo pins, surprised they figured out a way to carry audio through them AND power while still keeping them simple.

If it's anything like the Nexus one dock, audio is routed via Bluetooth. The 3 pogo-pins are (2) for power and the third transmits a simple code to tell the phone which dock it is in. When docked, Bluetooth is switched on, a new options page shows up in settings for audio routing. The night-stand clock is also automatically started (or car home if inserted in the car dock).
On another note, the desk and car docks for the nexus one were not available until several months after the phone came out. Surely the logistics of making these available at the same time are not that difficult.
-AS-
for £50 it should be made of carbon fibre or contain an independent battery.

Horizontal dock

I can't find a horizontal desk dock for this phone anywhere... Am I not looking hard enough or does it just not exist?
The official dock works just fine horizontally. In fact I'm using it that way as I type this.
Does it stand upright when it's sideways? From the pics it looks like it is vertical only.

Upright, the dock only allows the phone to connect one way. It's just a matter of physically turning the OEM Samsung dock on it's side. That being said, no, the phone will be horizontal as well when you turn the dock on it's side. As long as you have "auto-rotate" enabled, your desk clock application should adjust accordingly I use Alarm Clock +.
I remember when I had a dock for my original GS, it had a dock app preinstalled on it and it would launch automatically when I docked it. Does this happen on GSII?
Yes, it will auto launch. However, that behavior can be changed in various ways if you want it to stay on homescreen when docking.
Edit:Some dock apps even give you options to launch other programs/tasks all together.
It also depends what ROM you are on. I'm on CM9. When I plug my phone in it goes to a desk clock display that auto-rotates based on the phone's orientation. I usually keep it vertical unless I'm watching a video in which case I just lay it on it's side.

Here is a pic I found of it in its horizontal orientation:

Okay, assuming that I'm on MIUI, i'm positive there is nothing built-in. I ordered the desk dock and the car dock together on amazon two days ago so they should be coming today.. My Mesmerize had a car dock mode and a desk dock mode. The car one had links to navigation/maps and such, and the desk one just had alarms and notes and a big clock. Is this achievable on this phone?
