Did you try directly edit the build.prop or using any app to change the density?
I had no issues at all from any Roms by directly changing the build.prop or using rom toolbox.
Is there a tutorial on how to edit the build prop?

Try rebooting your phone. I was trying it out last night on the codename rom, and the changes would not take effect until I rebooted the phone.

You can easily download and install the modded version of the market unrestricted to country etc....

If that doesnt work there's one posted on XDA forum...

Rethink The Way You Think
Best way to take advantage of this is to compare it to a Tmo Gb build.prop and fill in the blanks

Just run a diff on the two build.props. Copy over relevant parts.
So yeah I got my epic touch on boost and I'm totally ready to flash my phone over to ics but I'm worried that after I do I wont be able to correct my apn settings, cause from what I've heard you can't change them after the update, so is there a way around this yet that anyone knows of ?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
I believe that's only if you flash an AOSP rom, so as long as you use a touchwiz based rom you'll be fine.

So you can just manually edit them ?

You can manually edit the apn by going using root explorer or similar and go to system>etc> and edit the apns-conf.xml to the correct settings.

Has anyone been able to change the DPI on the new FF18 ota? Every app I have downloaded that can change the DPI has caused me to not be able to boot past the Samsung screen.

Anyone?

I have not tried on the ota yet, but i had a similar problem when I first flashed cm9 a6. I finally got it to boot with a custom dpi by wiping EVERYTHING several times, reflashing, and then using LCD Density Modder Pro (i had purchased this before because it can fix market or Google play compatibility issues easily).
Hope this helps ya, but like I said I don't have the ota flashed yet.

Rom toolbox is the way to go. Performance tab at the top > build.prop tweaks > LCD density.

Hi, why cant we change the dpi on any rooted rom? Every time I change the phone freezes. I changed through root explorer and rom toolbox. Same thing.
Is there something Samsung or Google did in 4.1? Because I have been changing dpi on all the phones I had before with no problem.

I can change my dpi just fine on my rom. Dagr8's roms biggest selling point is dpi changing. So its gotta be something on your end.

Hmm i dunno what it could be. Im using my ported tmobile rom at 240 dpi with the samsung keyboard fix and multi dpi pack from dagr8s rom thread with amazing results. It could be something within that specific rom

I am running cm10, I switched from carbon ROM because I was getting a lot of RRs, and I like cm, but I miss being able to change the pixel density in the settings. So how do I change it in build.prop? Or even better is there a kernel that would add it to the settings?
Thanks!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda premium
Look for ro. sf.lcd_density=240 and change it to whatever you want. Rom toolbox and other applications can change it as well. Most of the roms out now have it a build in options in settings to change it just have to dig for it sometimes.

Don't forget to reboot after you change it or it will not take effect.
