Hi,
actually i running CM7 XboarderMOD V3.0.1 with Kernel [email protected]#1 downclocked Wake 245/768 Ondemand Sleep 245/315. Launcher GO EX With some AddOns
Batterylife is not really good but quite ok.
Now im looking for a ROM which is more faster, or only a Kernel.
What can i try.
Since today i have a new problem: suddenly the Music player starts to play any song without request that. what the hell is wrong with this thing.
I was figuring out to try the actual ILWT-388, but not shure if its really faster.
What could increase my device speed? Whats about EXT4 or all the Kernels.
My Device is actually starting random apps without request (no idea if this is normal or not) but it runs out of Memory and i need to terminate the processes via the launcher. then i have 100/367MB RAM available. What do you think about a SWAP partition? (i use a class 10 SD Card) If swap is kindly necessary; how to install/activate it?
Hope my english is readable
Thanks for some discussions.

XboarderMOD? It's pretty old honestly...
If you want CM7 you can go for a number of choices...
Personally, I've tried ILWT and EliteMod and they're both excellent.
ILWT is absolutely amazing because you can customize it before installing, and being able to do that is absolutely essential for people who go back and forth through ROM's. It also has plenty of memory free (I always have close to 150MB free when idle), and is very, very, VERY fast.
For EliteMod, I honestly haven't tested it nearly as much but it has great battery life if you take advantage of all the tips the dev offers. It's also in the same league with ILWT when it comes to speed.
To increase speed, I'd go with SuperCharger V6 using the SuperMinFree Calculator's settings. (Go to the Cust-OOM-izer, it will prompt if you want to use them there)
One other thing I've tried was "Sick Speed Tweaks". It is pretty nifty, here it is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1267945
Lastly...swap, if anything, is going to degrade your battery life and SDCard lifespan (quite drastically in some cases). It's a BAD idea to use it, even on a Sense 3.X ROM, much less for a CM7 one, which already has tons of RAM free.
i Thank you so much bro.
i want to try ILWT first then on my second G2 the EliteMod.
I post my experience later.
Thanks again.
One Question: Which launcher should i try for enjoy most speed?

LAuncherPro or zeam launcher! The best in my opinion!

I use ADW EX (paid version). It's totally worth it as it's really smooth, and is theme-able. If you don't want to pay I guess what you're already using (GoLauncherEX) and the above suggestions are quite nice.
So here again.
Im running ILWT 388b and its ok, the ram problem is gone, for now.
One simple question. Im setting with "ILWT CM7 Settings " the CPU clock to Ondemand 245/576 MHZ but it will not hold these settings. It sets to 245/1113 by itself.
Anyone an idea to prevent this?
You can use Clock Daemons, like CPU Tuner or SetCPU, it works wonders
Here are 2 Clock settings in the Menu in the CM7 Settings and in ILWT Tools.
My problem could be that the two menu have a conflict. Settings i set seems to reset by itself (the other setting menu?)
I already tried it with edit the configurationfile manually. Seems that is not working, too.
Should i edit the OC-Kernel setting conf?
i dont know what to do, cause i don't really want to install another SetCPU app or something. =)
now the settings with the config file from ILWT tools are:
Wake 245760/768000 conservative
sleep 245760/245760 conservative
charge 245760/1017600 ondemand
temp 245760/768000 conservative
battery 245760/768000 conservative
I think it scales higher than 768mhz because i got every time more than 2000points with Quadrant, same if i set the OC to Ondemand till 1GHZ.
LAuncherPro is fastest launcher i had (including GO Launcher and ADW launcher) .. It´s simplier than other two, but much faster.

Does anyone know how to over clock you're DI to say 1.2? Thanks for any help.
You first need to root your phone, then install a kernel that is compatible with whatever rom you are using, then you need to install an OCing app like SetCPU and adjust accordingly.
I'm rooted running the 2.2 RUU and I have set cpu. So do I just need a kernal? Which one?
i reccomend King Kernel bfs #4, best freaken kernel ever... its located... here
so when i install this kernal is it ok to just bump the cpu speed up to 1.2? are there any guides to do this?

A lot of factors come into play when you start overclocking, every rom will respond differently.
The first thing to do before anything is to do a complete nandroid back up.
When overclocking keep in mind that the more you overclock the more chances you have of making your system unstable.
I have experimented a quite a bit and I have found that the King Kernal #4 seems to work well for me and at 1.2 it seems to be pretty stable. Any higher than that and my phone will sometimes re-boot itself for no apparent reason.
Again, your rom may handle things different so experiment and see what works best for you.
And remember - Do a complete backup first!
I'm using the number 4 kernal and it only goes to 1.19 is this what you mean by 1.2? I have to keep mine at 1.1 ghz at 1.19 my di gets unstable
Ya that's as high as they can oc these chips. I can only get to 115 safely 119 just crashes. But the charging experience will be better than stock with the BFS #4.

Could you guys please tell me what your settings for setcpu are?
I want better battery life and a faster cpu but im noticing that my phone almost needs a wake up time when i come out of screen off.
Thanks so much

If you are experiencing slow wake up, try increasing the min cpu speed to something around 460. Better batt life and increased speed takes a lot of experimenting. Your OC speed might differ from others due to differences in the phones cpu. For example, I have never been able to oc to 1.19 without the phone freezing or rebooting. My phone can handle 1152 but 1113 is perfect. In my opinion, ROMs have something to due with best batt-speed combo. I am running Ruby 1.1.1 with a setcpu profile of Screen off=245 without any wake lag. Other ROMs I have tried had wake up lag at that speed profile.
My set up:
(ROM-ASOP) Ruby 1.1.1
King's #1 ASOP "I told you so"- only works with ASOP
With the ROM's "Gem" performance scaling setting off, I use setcpu to OC to 1113, min is 245. I have a profile set to SCREEN OFF = 384 max/245 min.
I haven't worried about battery life since I started using King's kernals (I've tried them all with every compatible ROM on xda). I have several posts elsewhere on XDA showing 12 plus hours on a single bump charge and heavy phone use. Good enough for me. Stock cpu speed plus Sense ROM seems slow to me now.....to each his own though.
I hope to get some help because i value the opinions of those on this forum. Currently i am running virtuous 2.7 with virt. kernal v2. I am rooted, s-off, 2.15.xx radio. I want performance without draining my battery. What are the best settings to use in setcpu?
I did try king's kernal #4, but it was rebooting. switched kernals this morning.
One other app I use in conjunction with SetCPU is MinFreeManager. This will readjust your free ram to a higher standard. But with SetCPU I have it at 1113/Ondemand with no custom profiles. One other thing I really don't set is the Set on Boot option. I don't know why but I do. So with SkyRaider Vanilla 3.0 RC3/ KingX Kernel #4/ and MinFreeManager my phone fly's. I can't say for certain what settings you need for your phone but 1113-1115 is preferred by "most" phones and keep the set on boot option off. I keep a Galaxy S live wallpaper running and pandora while browsing the web and no lag what-so-ever.
CyanogenMod 6.0.2 and KingX kernel #1 with the same setup runs almost as smooth.
Hope this helps you out.
I have been bouncing back in and forth from rom to rom. Most are great. Warm 2.2, DamageControl, and Virus (currently running). The issue I'm having is no matter witch rom or kernal I run on my Evo froyo, every time I install Setcpu within a couple of hours my launcher (no matter witch one) stops working. I have gone into root to reinstall, install and uninstall and nothing works. All Rome are affected by what I can tell. I'm finding the problem to be with setcpu. I'm surprised if can't find much information on this. Does anyone have ideas?

Yea, setcpu can improve things but also causes issues elsewhere. I was using launcher pro for a while, and using that in conjunction with setcpu gave me nothing but poor battery life and terrible freezing. I have since then stopped using setcpu and my phone works fine. Besides the difference between 1ghz and 1.1-1.2 is negligible on the Evo unless your benchmarking imo

Stop putting your phone's minimum frequency at 128 or 245MHz. Also, tweak your launcher's memory settings properly.

I did all that already. I had my screen off set to 384mhz, im no novice, setcpu has great benefits but has some negatives also.
OP, try ziggys 10/26 kernel. It has scripts that handle oc'ing up to 1.13ghz using interactive governer WITHOUT using setcpu

I use SetCPU and Launcher Pro Plus and have used these 2 on every ROM I have used...which is a LOT!! My screen off is set to 245 and I OC to around 1228. I have NEVER had any issues on amy ROM. I dont know what is causing your issue but it isnt SetCPU and Launcher Pro....
Hi guys, i was just wondering which rom is better with the evo or overall for battery life and gaming, "cm7" rom or the "explod" rom or now "decks"
Which rom is better would depend on what features you need in a rom.

then i suppose the best way i can put it is which one gives better battery life while i also play games on my phone like star legends?
They're mostly the same. Explod has a couple of different elements, mainly eye candy.
Check out the thread below and you'll get good battery life.
I recommend decks

what exactly makes it better? and if i used explod i would probably swap to go launcher.
why would you use Xplode to run Go Launcher? The first thing you'll notice with Xplode is that is basically a different launcher over CM7. Same as Deck's is Launcher 2 over CM7.
Just use CM7, then root explorer to replace ADW with Go launcher and you are in business

Also, you can you the timescape widget and the photos and videos widgets, which are cool, but can only run on that rom. You need the sony launcher. You can extract the sony launcher and run it in CM7, but you won't be able to use the timescape or photos/videos widget, as you'll be missing some sony framework. Also a different dialer. You can take the infinite view for contacts and run that on CM7 as well.
Check out my setup. I don't really use it for games but my current setup gives me exponentially better battery life than anything I was using before.
With other kernels I used I would have to underclock and switch my scaling profile in order to have my battery last more than a few hours. Now the battery lasts all day and I dont have to worry about losing performance by having to scale down my cpu at all. Amazing battery life while maintaining great performance. That's what I've found with this setup.

what cpu settings and governor do u use?
My understanding is that Decks is basically a stripped down CM7... Xplod is Decks with the Sony Experia launcher and widgets/apps added in (in place of the Decks launcher which is ADW if I remember right)... as well as some themed coloring that is different from Decks.
Performance wise, you shouldnt see too much difference, as they all started with CM7 and just had a little bit removed/added for personal prefrence.

this is a quote from decks: "Currently as i look at my phone, my battery stats have me at 31 hours and counting with 15% left. So battery life as you can tell was one of my main concerns. Everything works!!!" so the decks gingerbread rom was designed for more than just being like cm7

I am set to "On Demand" with my CPU set at 1.036ghz. Phone runs smoothly at this setting and my battery lasts forever. You can switch the scaling to performance, and up the clock speed a little, and you'll get even better performance. Albeit, your battery life will naturally go down, but it will still last longer than any other kernel combos I've tried.

with your clock speed set so low you don't really have to worry about battery life regardless of which scaling you use. Trying to game at 690 is going to be a pain in the ass as well. I don't really know anything about the Interactive/InteractiveX scalings. I've used Smartass before and I've been really pleased with the results of that scaling. I usually use Ondemand because that is the default setting that my phone goes to when I boot it up and I am too lazy to change it. When I do get around to changing it I will usually switch it to either Smartass or Performance depending on what I intend to do with the phone.
Edit: Just came across this thread that explains cpu governors. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=843406
Does anybody know if the Bliss rosie is actually better (performance-wise) than the regular rosie??
I ask this because im using a rom (RCMix 4.0 energized blue), and had been using the normal rosie, and the rom worked fine, fast, smooth, and almost no lag... but then today i decided to try the bliss rosie (which cam with the rom in the tweaks section) and it seems to be less laggy now...the screen turns on faster, lockscreen is faster (when unlocking), well, everything seems to be working a bit better
So im wondering, is it just the the rom finally finished "setting in" (i've been using it as a DD for 2 weeks now) or is bliss rosie better??
If anyone knows the answer and can also explain why (like, is it lighter? needs less ram? etc, anything that would explain it) i would appreciate it
Thanks!
Coldsun15
PS. As far as other settings go (ram values, overclocking, governors, brightness, etc) i havent changed anything before or after changing the rosie
My setting were and are: 384000-998400 on wake conservative gov
245000-460800 on sleep ondemand gov
so any change in performance should come from the rosie thing, and not from any other settings
Ah jeeba glooblah bleeeblah drokfin flunga?
I have been using Omega Rom from version 8 up to version 18, then switched to ProBam, then Pacman, and now I'm back on Omega 19, giving the "official" 4.3 a shot.
I have tried many many settings and kernels to get this game run without a lag.
So far, I have seen no lag when using performance governor while playing for a few minutes (no overclocking the CPU or GPU) that was it...
Every other setup gives lag, more or less. The second best setup would be pegasusq governor, not much changes when overclocking CPU or GPU, or both.
Using a stock kernel is also not bad, but lags every now and then. (not dependant on Rom)
But I want to get the sound settings from trickster mod for example, so I feel like I need a custom kernel with my Rom of choice.
So, does anyone have a good setup that matches performance governor, but does not stick permanently to maximum CPU load?
I don't care about battery life, so I need a good performing setup.
(Just on a side note: when people say "there is no lag at all when scrolling through my homescreens" then I can only think that this should be normal with ANY setup. And I never had any lag while scrolling through my homescreens, except while I was using my HTC Hero...)
I would very much appreciate if someone with the same goal could help me out, or someone knows the default settings of the stock kernel...
Or is this whole idea just utopic, because the game is badly coded?
