Telus P935 really a P930? - LG Nitro HD

Noticed that in the info of the phone it says it's a P935, but
if you pop the battery off and you get that little LG sticker there.
It says the FCC ID is BEJP930, and the IC ID is 2703C-P930
wonder if there is any difference between the P930(Bell) and the P935 (Telus)
curious what it actually says on a Bell unit? or someone with a nitro?

just found this link: http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=3339
lists the LG Nitro HD as a BEJP930

It's difference

well, if the FCC classifies it as the same phone then I daresay the rooting and recovery methods used for the P930 and P935 are the same.
My sticker also says FCC: BEJp930
and IC ID : 2703C-p930
Try to root with superoneclick! or whatever the current best method is for acquiring root access on the P930!

I would bet the only real difference is the baseband.

Telus and Bell use the same network and frequencies.

It has to do with the firmware version...something about derpderpi is not rootable but derpderpH and derpderpJ is?
Forgive the derpderps I have no clue what to put there.

how did you root yours? im trying to root a friends telus p935 lte canadian phone and have had no luck what so ever...

Definitely firmware differences, Telus tends to tamper with their version of phone models before releasing (such as disabling GSM on the HTC Desire, which is bad when you travel).

Luckily, that's easily circumvented on LG devices and is not actually a hardware difference.

[Q] firmware update problem country code

I just bought a phone on ebay. unlocked samsung galaxy s3 sgh-t999. It's supposed to be brand new and was in the orig. box. But the build of the firmware is ZS and in kies it says
PDA:EMC
PHONE: LK3
CSC: EMC (CHN) <- CHN I presume is China
also my android is 4.1.1 and I would like it to be at least 4.1.2 preferably 4.3
but of course OTA doesn't work because of the country code. It says registering device then processing failed.
I've tried to flash using odin but I get aboot error with some roms and in some versions as well as sbl2 error with some roms and some versions.
and my phone in download mode says it's an I747 -- the at&t model. In gs3->settings->about device it says its a sgh-t999 which is what it should be.
Kies says the firmware is up to date. arg frustrating.
Everything about this phone works except for updating the firmware.
So I asked for a replacement...which I got today. Same stupid problem, not only that, but this one isn't recognizing my cut micro sim. So if it's between the 2 I would like the original one since it recognizes the sim.
I have read that I can change the country code, but I do not want to root the phone since I want it under warranty.
what should I do to update my phone?
Thank you for any and all help
You might be another victim of Franken-Phone. Please see this thread. that person too got similar phone but from different source.
that thread and its discussion will help you figure out what to do.
If it says I747 on your Download screen then you have a i747 motherboard in a T999 body,
thread no longer there
hey thanks for the reply. The thread, unfortunately, doesn't seem to be there anymore.

My Bad. Thanks Doc for linking it.
Thanks, I sent the phones back
I sent the phones back. Cost me $12. I'm thinking of buying another one that claims it's not international....so I'm guessing its US firmware and hoping that it's legit. Thanks for your troubles. I did read the thread. It was a lot like my case except that his firmware had a region code UV and mine is ZS.

Please be aware that T999 does not have LTE antenna. So it won't get 4GLTE Speeds. So if you are buying, then consider the ATT SGH-I747 or the T-Mo SGH-T999L
Note that if you are with tmobile its best to get the T999L. The I747 does not have HSPA+42 if I remember right.

I ended up buying
I ended up buying one from an individual on ebay. I had him check the Settings->About Device and he told me it was a sgh-t999L with UV as its country code and android 4.3. So I bought it. He said it was a replacement from tmobile.
However, I'm reading that android 4.3 on the s3 has a problem with unstable network connections and pops up a message. According to a lot of people, this happens quite often for them. Any thoughts on this?
Thrres a wifi setting called auto switch networks that is probably the issue. Turn it off. Ive never had any connection issues on any build. Had the T999 since the beginning and have always loved it!

Which way to follow

I bought a LG Optimus G phone. The software reads as F180L. But on the back side of the phone model is written as :LG-LS970 (which is i guess sprint). I am not understanding which forum I should follow to use custom ROMS and rooting. This one or of LG optimus G sprint?

Looks like someone flashed an F180 ROM on your LS970 phone (unless the back cover was changed at some point, but the possibility of that is way less, IMO)... While it might work just fine, I would still suggest referring to a Sprint forum for proper info. Flashing another model's ROM on you phone doesn't mean it becomes that model; it's the hardware that dictates requirements and limitations of what you can and can't do... Just for the heck of it, try looking up your IMEI at imei.info -- it should give you the correct model of you phone (but still, sometimes it's not quite accurate).

OK, the most foolproof way, IMO, would be to check if your phone has a telescopic TV antenna at the top left -- only Korean models have it. Entertaining a crazy idea that someone may have put an LS970 cover on F180 and removed an antenna, or cut a plastic tip off of it (because LS970 cover just doesn't have a cutout for it), there will still be a channel for the antenna at the top left side of the phone under the back cover (you'll have to take it off to confirm).
In my experience, imei.info is usually pretty accurate within a model line -- for example, it showed LG G2 D803 as D800, which is reasonable. But I just checked a IMEI I know for E975, and it was listed as "LG Optimus G", without specific model. My phone is identified as "Swift F180", which is correct. Well... I dunno...

Unlocked T-Mobile Update query

Hello Everyone. I have purchased a LG G3 D851 (TMobile) unlocked from Dubai and intend to use it at India. I am worried about
1. Are the wireless and NFC chips different from the D855. D855 has 2 connectors while D851 has 4. Can I use D855 Back Panel on the D851 and vice versa.
2. Since it is unlocked, will the updates come from LG or should I wait for T-Mobile to send the updates.
As it is a quadband phone, there should not be any carrier issues.
And finally, why does LG G3 not include wireless charging off the box in USA like they do all over the world?
Your inputs will be much appreciated and will also help fellow xda folks as there is not much of talk about the differences between D851 and D855.
Cheers,
Karthik
Just found out that the D851 does not have any t-mobile markings on the mobile back cover or box. Infact even while switching on there is no t-mobile logo. But the model is LG D851. Is it even possible? Because D851 is the code for t-mobile. Please help clear these doubts.

LG G3 sold in Canada is D852. Please correct me if I am wrong.
If that is the case, LG has started selling generic D851s in America. I even found an user manual for Generic D851 along with the Tmo D851 on their website.
The European model D855 comes with a Qi Compatible back cover. The Indian model D855 comes with a Qi back cover, 1 Year Display Replacement voucher, and Discount voucher worth $160 on G Watch. I wonder why the American version is so basic.
Carriers abroad
I would assume, and I only do this out of assumption, that T-Mobile USA isn't the only one that uses the D851 and the bands that T-Mo uses here is the US is probably used by other carriers elsewhere in the world. If that is the case, then I would think that LG would have saved their money and gave the D851 to carriers abroad that used the same spectrum, minus logos and boot animations.

Thanks for the replies. On first set up of the mobile, I was shocked to find SperSU by Chainfire installed but its still not rooted. The mobile is brand new and has D85110C installed. I cannot find the Update Center (Settings -> About Phone). Please someone tell me what I have got myself into? Thanks.
Your "brand new phone" will not ship with SuperSU. If you don't have the playstore on ur phone, its another sign that phone is not new. LGs update center is also preinstalled.

LG PC Suite is working now. Playstore is there. Only thing weird was the SuperSU. Do people who unlock contract phones leave SuperSU on the mobile. And I found out that LG G3 Tmo and AT&T models do not have the Update Center visible. Wonder what is wrong with all these American carriers? Stupid, Absolutely Stupid.
Unlocked phone has nothing to do with SuperSU. SuperSU is strictly used for root. Again, T-Mobile, LG, or purchasing an unlocked phone will NOT have SuperSU.

Did anyone stop to think that maybe when he signed into google he chose to restore his apps and it downloaded chainfire su from the playstore automagically? Since his phone wasn't rooted it seems logical to me.
Then again my IQ is only three times that of Stephen Hawkings so what would I know. </sarcasm>

Nope might. I have never used SuperSU Chainfire before. Anyways after a chat with LG US officials and after going through the files in the mobile I have found out the below:
1. Rooted Mobile
2. TWRP Installed
3. It has been flashed with LG-D851_Generic.zip (1.02GB)
4. It is indeed LG G3 D851 ( Without any affiliations to T-mobile )
If anyone would like the Generic version I would be happy to upload the file. So may be in some international markets, they are selling Generic Version D851. But it still puzzles me why my seller would root and install TWRP in a generic version.

[Help] Using LG G3 Verizon model on Sprint Network

As the title implies, I've tried my own research and came up with nothing on the matter. The Verizon model does not work with a Sprint SIM though it is claimed to be unlocked off the manufacturer so I'm leaning towards compatibility being the problem, is there any way to solve this? Maybe something can be done if the phone is rooted and using TWRP? Thanks for any help.

Nope and there won't be at least through legal means because Sprint won't attach Verizon's IMEI of the device to their SIM in order for it to accept and use Sprint network, unless if it's an apple product... (lol really). Funny how devices come unlocked or can be unlocked upon request due to law but loophole comes to play now SIM's can be locked to a devices IMEI rendering anything you try the SIM on useless other than it's original device. So much for having an unlocked device...
Just wondering -- have y'all tried any of the solutions mentioned in these threads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g3/general/ls990-red-t3033809
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g3/general/unlock-sprint-ls990-cdma-carrier-t2985523
(I know both of these are for putting a sprint phone on verizon, but maybe the NV/RUIM trick works in the other direction as well?)

Ok. I just confirmed the imei number under ABOUT and it's a LG H811 T-mobile.
But Phone model displays US991 (Us Cellular)
Can it be that the US991 ROM isn't stable and secondly, will flashing a new stock or Custom rom solve this problem?

You have to disasemmble device look at model num on mother board
the device may have a tmobile iemi
You have already said its a h810 h811 and us991 Like I said a big heap of mess only way to know which model is the actual mother board . The iemi may be from another device, you never know. There are a few threads of people going throught this exact issue of attempting to reflash stock firmware but get fails as no model nums match
If you flash the wrong firmware the device is as good as gone If possible you need to return it
