hi guys,

im experiencing great problems with gps fix on any offline gps navigator like copilot or sygic. The gps fix is hard to get and even when it works its really wiggly m it goes on and off continuously and soetimes it puts me kms away from where i really am. Annoying.
Im on aokp build 36 / franco kernel and already tried the gps fix (i used faster gps) setting the server to europe/italy but no luck so far.
Does the agps activate automatically with gps? how do u turn on barometer?
is there anyone who can spare an advice on this? maybe updating radio?
thanks in advance!
Try using an app like gps status to download agps data before you go offline? I guessing you can't get a GPS fix because you have no data connection...
Hey Everyone I have galaxy gio its not rooted and has a stock rom of version 2.3.6 .My Problem is that whenever I try to connect to gps it doesn't connect. Even if I am under clear sky it just cant connect........The rom is latest one from Samsung and I bought my gio in 2012 so I think hardware problems would have been solved.

If its the Google gps you are referring to, then it is difficult to get it up and run, instead use another gps like Sygic which is great. with this app you don't need to use data, you only need to download the map of that country you want to and use it as an offline gps, just like a Garmin gps.

Actually Sygic was also not of great use. I also tried GPS test but my galaxy dose not catches Gps signals, It doesnt lock to any satellite...
What could be the problem with my phone???

I have no problem with Sygic, it connects quite fast to satellites... what ROM are you using?
I had a bit of problem with this.It took almost 3-4 mins to locate my location and was really slow.I didn't like the gps at all but now with htc explorer it's lightning fast.so probably it's a fault of gio...

GPS speed really differs between ROMs. Stock tends to connect pretty slowly. If you are willing to use custom roms, there are some who work significantly better. I'm using Enhanced236 and I love it. Tried to install CM9 RC1 but GPS won't work at all
GPS Status & Toolbox
Try this:
can't post the direct link so search on the google play markt for: GPS Status & Toolbox
This problem is still current on the Gio. I have several friends who got them new recently, shipped with Android 2.3.6. The problem is simply that the GPS, much of the time, cannot connect. Without a data connection it NEVER works (!!!) even out in the open. Gps status shows no satellites; Google maps cannot connect.
One of them rooted hers and is using some scripting hack which periodically erases gps configuration files - this fixes all problems. So the problem seems generally software bound, not hardware. Two years after this device has been released it still seems Samsug didn't care much about fixing it... pretty bad.
Because of the nature of aGPS I'd suggest "GPS Status & Toolbox" AND "GPS Aids" from Play Store. Should cut down cold fix time to a fairly reasonable 20-30s instead of MINUTES.
Hi
My GNex cannot get GPS signal ,it always says searching for GPS & never gets the signal
My nexus is running stock 4.2 ((I have never got GPS signal even before flashing 4.2 ))
Even my brother have the same problem , he is running stock 4.1.2

Hi,
try to goes under ACCOUNT --> GOOGLE --> Location --> TURN ON
For me works 4.1.2
Bye
Be sure to have the GPS sensor enabled.
Also (if you have a rooted device)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Double.FasterFix&
might help.
Have you by any chance data disabled?

You shouldn't need data to use gps. Some people don't want to use local wifi and towers to get location. You shouldn't need to anyway, gps is far more accurate.

I would start there. It's something I forgot about when I was using my phone the other day. But there have been issues with GPS on 4.2 as well. Best to cover all bases.

Since our devices have "aGPS" which is an abbrivation for assisted GPS it DOES need help from gsm triangulation to help accuracy. Search aGPS on wikipedia to find out more.

Hi guys,
Is there any known issue with GPS on Mirage ROM for Samsung Gio?
I can't get it to find my location (or navigate) on Maps.
Did you find a workable solution? My gio cannot lock gps signal. Please share your remedy if you got one
I'm back to playing around with the Note 2 (SGH-t889), though now the T-Mobile version instead of Sprint. Seems there are a lot of the same bugs or bumps in the road with this version. Wi-Fi and GPS seem to be weak points in ROMs and die often. I remember that there were patches available somewhere, but I can't find them here on XDA using the built-in search function. I found a thread for the n7100 crowd disassembling their Note 2's, but that is not what I am referring to (nor did any of them have any success). Both of these problems are software related and can be fixed with software.
Does anyone have links to the threads, or files, required to:
fix GPS if you can't get a lock (location currently unavailable)
turn on Wi-Fi if it can't be turned on
EDIT
I kept searching, and while I didn't find any files, I did solve my GPS not working. I had backed down from 4.4.2 to 4.1.x to solve an IMEI problem and then GPS stopped working. Resetting to factory defaults and giving it a minute got GPS working. This time around, I have not had a Wi-Fi problem.
