Won't boot! - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I just received my T-Mobile galaxy S2 an hour ago, no root... completely stock.
I powered it down and tried to turn it back on... but the screen is just black nothing will bring it back.
tried volume + power to get into recovery... nothing
is this thing dead? or am i missing a hard reset?
Help?

Take the battery out for 2 minutes. put it back in. Do not turn it on. Then plug it into the charger for 10 minutes and then power it on. Might sound like joke but I'm dead serious.
**EDIT**
Its possible the things battery just died. If its completely dead it wont do anything I've scared myself like this once as well. If this does not work try download mode. The fact alone its not rooted tells me it might just need some more charging time.

phone wont turn on but LED blinks

well i fell asleep with my phone on the charger and when i woke up i touched my phone and it was really hot. Ive never had my phone so hot before, so i pulled out the charger and pulled out the battery and let it sit until it cooled down. Now when i try and turn it on a blue LED light blinks and it disappears . Any help?

Does it blink on its own, or when you hold down buttons? Will it stay off w/o pulling the battery? If it is a steady blue light when your not touching it, its bricked.

try to enter download mode by holding volume down and power, even if the screen doesnt turn on see if odin will recognize it, its your only hope.
Sounds like its overheated! This happened to me before where my phone got so hot when charging that it shut off with a blue light. I just took out the battery and set them down and let them cool for a while. Were you using the charger that came with it or a diffrrent one? It seemed to me like the charger I was using when it happened caused it cause its never happened again.

u were using aokp? what kernel? what recovery? any other mods? would like to know! thanks! sounds like its bricked!
Just a theory but is it possible that it fried the battery out and now it won't turn on cause it pretty much has a dead battery? Do you happen to have access to another battery you could try and see if it comes on? Also when you plug in the power cord with the battery in does the screen come on with the charging screen(battery with green fill showing charge level)?

[Q] Xperia Ion Bricked?

Hi guys, this is sort of a last resort thing and I've read the thread with "Xperia Ion bricked. Any fix?".
Basically, I was doing the battery callibration (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1760207&highlight=battery) and so did the power + volume up button. I did this around 3 times as it went from 95% to 98% then I was expecting it to go up but it stayed at 98% so I decided to do it once more. However, instead of usually vibrating, the screen just instantly went off. Tried to power up but it didn't work. Took it off from the charger and tried all button combinations (power + volume up/down) and still to no avail.
Then I put it in the wall charger again and the LED seems to have a faint orange light coming when charging so I know it's actually charging... Then I thought it may be possible that for some reason, the battery is drained and followed the "Xperia Ion bricked. Any fix?" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771106. After around 15 minutes, the faint orange LED vanished and so I took it off the charger, did the button combinations again and didn't do anything. I put it back in the charger and see the faint orange LED...
Now it's just charging and I don't know what to do Is my beloved Ion bricked? I just got it a month ago :crying: what should I do with it?
Tried plugging it in the computer and PC Companion didn't see my device
Also I live in the UK and I got the phone from Indonesia... It still has a years guarantee but I can't go spend £500 for a ticket just to fix my phone
I'm extremely desperate, please help!
Hold power + volume up wait for one vibrate, keep holding both you should then get three vibrates in a row now turn it on normally, mine kinda did the same thing and I did this

Is the phone on? Meaning it's using power in some way (led on, screen is black but on, button lights stay on)? If so you may need to drain the battery, if the reset trick isn't working. Once the battery is dead (this can take up to 24 hours) and it shuts off, try charging it. Do not turn it on till it's charged more than halfway.

Thanks for replying uchiha but I've put the phone on charge overnight which was like 8 hours and the light just goes. I'm still having this problem. I wish I could go to the sony store but I can't cause the Ion doesn't and will not come out in the UK and they have no parts for it. For now, I'll just leave it on charge for the whole day and see what happens.

The ion battery CAN'T be remove no matter what...and to TS,if your phone still can't be turn on,try to let the battery completely drain, and leave it like that for 1 hour, and after that try to charge back...
I afraid your phone thought it was 'on' but the screen is 'off' like my old x10 Mini Pro which when I turn on,it vibrate and on (yep, alive) but the screen is black BUT I can feel the touch and the vibration of the phone. To fix the problem,I remove my phone battery for 10 minutes and turn it on again, after that it works perfectly...

[Q] GS3 won't charge and boot loop...need help fast.

My wife is on vacation driving down to MS (from WV) and her phone died.
She was talking on it and co-pilot was running and then the phone shut off.
She couldn't reboot it, it would boot, then try and reboot and make a vibrate pattern like "beeeeeeppp beep beep" repeatedly and never boot. I told her (on the phone) that it might be that her battery was just dead.
So i had her turn the phone off and then put it on the charger.
Well, it's 10 hours later on a charge and the same thing is happening. She can't boot, she can't get into recovery, when she does the 3 finger salute the same thing happens....the vibration pattern.
She's been running aristodemos without problems up until now.
What do you think could be the problem? Battery? Charging port dead?
She said she's going to find an AT&T store while she's down there and tell them that her phone won't charge...could they charge her battery for her.
What do you think? Should we wait until she's back here and just put my battery in the phone? I ask because I don't want them to figure out that she's rooted and not help her.

Sounds like what happened to my cousin's Note. I tried to root it and it did 3 beeps and boot loop. It might need recovery. If a nandroid is available on her phone then she needs to restore it if possible. If not, recovery via Kies is the next option. Unfortunately, Kies wipes everything.

I don't think so...I'm not sure why but when she tries, nothing happens. I'm coaching her remotely so It could be that she's just not doing it right or that the battery won't even get her to that point....i'm not sure why but at this point, she can't.
If she could...we'd be in good shape, I'd have her wipe the phone and start over.
I'm not sure whether I should tell her to hold off until she gets home to try my battery or go to the ATT store...I'd hate for them to put a new battery in and have it do something that shows that it's running a leaked rom and rooted....though I'm not sure what they'd do.
Would they just tell her to go away or would they note it on the account like we were somehow not entitled to warranty assistance even if we put it back to stock?

It turns on but tries to boot....black screen and vibrations is all that happens. When that has happened to my phone I just recovered it so I'm not sure why hers isn't recoverable...operator error or it's just bricked.
I guess I'll just tell her to wait until she gets back unless someone has a better idea.

If it turns on even for a second there might be a good chance to save it. Best thing to do is to wait. You can probably recover it using odin. My cousin's Note did that too, but he got lucky. I managed to fix it using Kies. I hope it works out.

Note 3 DEAD... unmodified stock, without root...

So, first thing in the morning just pulled it off the charger with 100% battery. There I was sitting on the stool browsing my phone, as usual, when suddenly BLACK SCREEN... Pushed power button... nothing... pulled battery, held power button.... nothing.... plugged into charger, held power button... nothing... Pretty sure my phone just died. It was running 100% stock, without any rooting... Has this happened to anyone else???
EDIT: Also tried to plug it into my computer to see if i could access USB storage... nothing happens...
EDIT2: Went to Tmobile store, got it replaced... guy said this is the first one he has seen do that...

I'm on my 4th unit now. I think the reps at the store are getting suspicious.

Maybe that's why you SHOULD root and or get off the stock ROM. So far, it all looks like its happening to stock phones, unfortunately.

Thats just dumb. No offense
If there is a problem after you root, you're done. The Knox flag will be permanently (at least until someone figures out how) set to 0x1.

Well yeah, but I meant if the phone did turn on, then its incredibly easy for them to check. It even says "Warranty Void: 0x1".
EDIT: Hey, its my 1000th post. Yay me.
I'm in the UK and this thing is freezing really bad. I'm hoping it survives this trip without the black screen of death.

This has happened to me several times on my Note 2. The only remedy I could come up with was to play music while I slept since I charge my phone overnight while I sleep

My phone (t999) can't turn on !!!

I've bought my phone for 1 year. Today i buy a new battery for t999 on samsung.com
I replace it, then i can't turn on it. I connected it to the charger many times and it just appear the battery icon
Sometime it turn on into the main screen (only charging and press the power button) then turn off in 2s . I can't do anything when the phone not connect to the charger.
What can i do now ???
P/s: Sorry about my English. It's quite bad.
Does the same happen with the old battery?

Does it try to turn on by itself when you put the battery in?

Yes, but it also can't turn on more than it turn on by itself. I have to connected many times !
I believe you have a bad power button. This has been happening a lot lately and the fix is to replace the power switch.
