I installed the fatsys HBOOT and rebooted the phone and went in to 4ext recovery and it told that i need to wipe my cash and to format my partitions. When i did that i got stuck the formatting system. I rebooted the phone.. did that twice and not thing happen.
Now when I boot my phone and when 4ext loads there are no menus. so I'm stuck and I can install anything. please help
Does it boot into the os? Do you have 4EXT Recovery control?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
it does not boot to the OS.
comes to the boot loader...when i select recovery...4ext recovery loads but no menus
I have a same error..
I just wanted to install: Runnymede AIO V6.1.1 Special Edition beta Version with fatsys HBOOT. But after i updated my HBOOT, i cant see any menus in the 4ext system.. I cant reboot my system.. Kinda Bricked.. I also tried to install other HBOOTs, but isnt working..
what do you mean by 4EDXT recovery Control? I'm Just able to go into the Bootloader..
Recovery control is to 4EXT as rom manager is to ClockworkMod but only effective if you can boot into the os as it is an app. Does the hboot you have have fastboot command availability? If so grab a version of the recovery and fastboot flash it

What's fatsys HBOOT? And how did you install it ie nandroid backup, fastboot flash hboot, reboot-bootloader, erase and nandroid restore? That doesn't sound like good behaviour - never had anything like that changing HBOOTs (AlphaRev ones or custom using _thalamus' tool).
Can you boot into fastboot, and have you got a copy of recovery img on your PC? If yes fastboot flash recovery to phone and try going into recovery again. If not you might have to fastboot flash an AlphaRev table to sort out borked partitions - as i say i have no idea what fatsys HBOOT is or does.
Changing critical system stuff like nand partitions I'd stick with fastboot and flash known tables like AlphaRev ones after checking md5s.

INT2SD
What is INT2SD?
INT2SD doesn't use symlinks. It mounts ext partition on your SD to /data, thus eliminating the need for the mtd5 userdata partition. This makes the mtd5 userdata partition unneeded. It is used in conjunction with the fatsys HBOOT (more info later on), allowing most of the vital parts of a ROM to stay on the system partition without the need to symlink half of it to the SD due to memory shortage.
For now, there is only one ROM here, but more will come! If you wish to see INT2SD in your favorite ROM or in your own ROM, please post here!

EDIT:
I guess i shall install Android SDK... which im doing now.. but after installing it.. i need assistance
Once you have sdk set up on your pc and a copy of a recovery.img on your pc it's easy from there as long as that hboot allows you to run fastboot commands.

No not your back-up image files, when you installed 4EXT Recovery Updater and used it to flash the 4EXT recovery did you set the option for save the 4EXT Recovery .img file to your SD card? This is the img file I meant, if you have a 4EXT recovery img you fastboot flash this with phone in fastboot mode - then you should be able to get into 4Ext recovery and restore one of your nandroids.
Can't upload a recovery img file for you at the moment but sure there must be one you could download perhaps from the 4EXT thread.
Edit - Ok looks like that HBOOT may have been created using thalamus custom tool, did you check the md5 before flashing it?
If you can get into fastboot and install the SDK on PC, in Windows cmd prompt check your device is recognised by typing 'fastboot devices' first, if it returns the serial no of your phone then fastboot is working ok.

Has anyone got a got a guide on how to change to CM7 boot?
Also, do you need to be s-off to do it?
Go to --> Alpharev
Code:
1) Nandroid backup in recovery.
2) Verify the MD5SUM of the file you downloaded against the one in the table.
3) Flash HBOOT with your phone in fastboot mode (Back+POWER) -> 'fastboot flash hboot bravo_alphaspl.img' (change into the correct filename for the HBOOT you downloaded)
4) 'fastboot reboot-bootloader'
5) 'fastboot erase cache'
6) Boot recovery, wipe everything and restore.
And: Yes, you need S-Off
Thanks, is it possible to s-off without using a cd?
You don't need to be s-off to flash CW recovery, only rooted. Although Alpharev will do this. (kills 2 birds with one stone). I rooted, z4root, installed CW along with Rom Manager. Flashed ROM.
The only advantage to s-off, is that you can change the "splash image" (not boot animation) Boot animation can be changed without s-off.
You don't need to run from cd.
But.... You have to have drivers installed.
Sure, you can either create a bootable usb-stick or start the image as a virtual system with virtual box. Please use the forum search, there is a really good tut including a step by step guide for each method.

Not true, there are many many more advantages of having s-off your Desire, and one of them is becoming more useful and needed these days, and that one is precisely what OP of this topic is trying to do: flash CM7 Hboot to have csutom partition sizes, and have more space on /data partition for app or dalvik cache (if using Data++ ROMs). And that can not be done if S-on.
Thats the thread I was talking about.

You need the android sdk to get abd and fastboot running. You can download this here:
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
then open Programfolder/tools in commandline, boot your phone in fastboot-mode (swich off, then switch on while hitting back-key (back!, not vol-down).
Then in commandline type in "fastboot devices" to check if your phone is connected properly (it should show you, if a phone is connected). If yes, use the steps I posted earlier and are described on alpharev.nl
Personally..
I used the CD, followed the prompt to s-off.
Then once s-off and custom bootloader was install, I then used the PB99IMG.zip from AlphaRev to change my partitions to CM7 hboot
http://alpharev.nl/PB99IMG_bravo_cm7.zip
Easy as.

You don't need to use fastboot to change partition sizes, just use the PB99IMG.zips, even easier.
But having the adb/fastboot stuff sorted, is always a plus.

Hi, I've got fastboot setup etc. But can't seem to find a guide on how to change all the partition.
So all you're saying is that if I put the PB99IMG.zips into my sd card and boot into Bootloader, it'll install automatically AS WELL as do the partitions for me? And one more thing if I may (just for clarity) do I put the PB99IMG.zips onto the root of my sdcard or into one of the subfolders and if so which one?
Thanks and sorry for the bombardment of questions!
You will have costom MTD partitions CM7 for exempl: h-boot 130M sistem, 5M Chace, 302M data.
If you mean the EXT partitions? You must still make a ext partition wit cwm or gparted orrommanager.
Put the PB img on your SDcard, the map doesnt matters, because the phone will recognize it enywhere.

Hi,
about CM7 and the rom you want to try, you can have a look to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13084241&postcount=17
I try to resume my experience...
Hope it will help you.
I am a noob when it comes to this stuff. Recently got the T-Mobile G2 and was afraid to get into rooting and custom roms for a while but ended up trying it yesterday.
I wanted to get the Virtuous Unity v1.26.0. I rooted the phone following the directions here ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision#Returning_to_Stock.....
Then I read that I had to put the Desire Z hboot on my G2 before I can install that rom so I went here and followed the instructions to install Desire Z hboot
http://www.virtuousrom.com/2011/06/t-mobile-g2-users-migrating-to-desirez.html
Everything went well, until I tried to flash the rom. Downloaded the rom, put it in the SD card and then tried to use rommanager to install. It was installing and then all of a sudden an error came up and the phone rebooted into clockworkmod recovery. Then I did a factory reset/data wipe on clockworkmod recovery. Then install zip from SD card. The rom installed and I rebooted the phone but the Rom won't boot. It was on a bootloop.
I used clockworkmod recovery to restore my stock rom. Then I tried to install the rom once again using clockworkmod recovery, again it was on a bootloop. So I tried restoring my stock rom again and this time it wasn't restoring. It said "error formatting /system". I tried formatting /system /data /cache manually and it still says the same thing.
Did you do a back up? If so restore it and try flashing it again.
yea I backed up, and tired to restore using cwm but it says error while formatting /system /data /cache.
I believe there's a Virtuous Rom channel on freenode (channel name is probably on the Virtuous homepage) those guys might be able to help you out.
Good luck!
You can try formating your phone using fastboot . (I am assuming you have adb and fastboot setup and also eng hboot) put your phone on fastboot mode connect it to your computer and type this command . "Fastboot erase system -w"
Hopefuly it will fix your problem.

OMG!! Thank you so much!! That worked. I was working on this all day yesterday and nothing helped. I even tried formatting /system and /data from fastboot manually but it didn't work. The erase system -w command worked perfectly and now clockworkmod recovery lets me restore my backups. Thank you so much again!!
just tried to flash alpharev cm7r2 file using android flasher. In hboot mode it says alpharev cm7r2. I tried to boot into 4ext recovery but it says it fails to fetch recovery log. So I cant use recovery and if I try to use android flasher to flash recovery again or hboot it stops responding. What should I do?
Any help and I would be very grateful.
Assume that you are s-off.
Can you still get you h-boot screen?
If so you should be able to use fastboot to flash both recovery and h-boot.
I find it easier than android flasher.
There are plenty of guides about on using fastboot so would suggest reading them as well and have a search about as wont be the first to encounter this issue
Also use fastboot to wipe system and cache and reboot the bootloader and you should be fine......

It explains how to set up fastboot. The adb part is not relevant so once set up you can use commands like
Fastboot flash hboot c:\*****.img
Fastboot flash recovery
Fastboot erase
Which should enable you to change your hboot, recovery etc
The following link is a good step guide to changing your hboot along with a utility to set up fastboot

When setting up the computer for fastboot it does not have enviroment variables in the advanced my computer bit. I am using windows vista

Right
Click start > run > cmd
This will open a command window
Have you phone connected in fastboot mode
And then use fastboot commands to flash the recovery, hboot etc.
I would recommend changing your recovery to amon-ra ( but this is personnel choice)
You need the files you want to flash on you PC.
For example to flash an hboot you would use the following
Fastboot flash hboot c:\*****.Img
The same would apply for recovery etc
Fastboot flash recovery c:\*****.img
Once you have flashed hboot
Make sure you use fast boot to wipe system / cache / reboot bootloader.

Have I got the files in the correct places? Where should they be because I tried to follow the instructions very carefully?
Thanks so much for your help I hopefully nearly there!
right,
finally booted up my laptop so this should get easier for me.....
how did you root your phone, did you use unrevoked or did you s-off with revolutionary and then install the recovery that came with it.
Can you answer the following
You have the h-boot drivers installed ?
You have download and followed the steps for the SDK files.
You have set the environment variables as previously mentioned.
When you boot your phone holding down the volume button and power you get the hboot screen, can you then select fast boot. and with your phone connected to your pc does it change from fast boot to fastboot usb.
if so the commands should work. if not you could try the utility by _thalamus on the oxygen.im website
http://forum.oxygen.im/viewtopic.php?id=1412
You may want to change your recovery to amon-ra or an earlier version of clockworkmod 2.5.0 something....(i use amon-ra and rate it very highly, you can down load it from the following
http://androidforums.com/desire-all...oads-root-users-updated-22nd-july-2011-a.html)
if you can answer the above I will endeavor to assist further but why this is not setting up correctly on your pc is a bit confusing for me
but we'll keep going and get you back up and running again

Yes I did, I am now on cm7r2 with rmd recovery. Flashed both with android flasher.
Thank you again for your help
i looked in all the android forums without found a solution, this is my last hope...
Start situation:
Desire S-OFF
HBOOT 0.93 CM7r2
Recovery 4EXT TOUCH
ROM Runnymede AIO 5.0.1
What i did:
downloaded data++ hboot and checked MD5
flashed by bootloader with PB99IMG method
What happened:
the recovery didn't start properly, it reloaded in "safe mode" and still not working: "you have to format internal partitions"
What i tried:
flashed cw 5 and cw 3 both can load first screen but when i enter in a menu: black screen and freeze.
So i erase all partition and i flashed all possible kind of hboot and recovery via fastboot shell. no changes, i'm still unable to use a recovery or boot the device.
So i tried to flash a stock unrooted rom extracted from an official ruu, it overwrite all but the bootloader, at the end it doesnt boot, the device rests at the first screen (white background and green htc logo) for more than an hour.
What the device can do:
bootloader, fastboot, first recovery screen.
what can i do? please help me
[SOLVED]
i flashed the last RC version of 4ext via bootloader with PB99IMG ( http://www.4ext.net/PB99IMG.zip ) instead of flash it by fastboot shell and now my desire is back!

Say hello to guys in service
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda premium
i had the same problem.
1) flash back previous hboot that was working fine.
2) format all partition without sd card
3) reflash hboot
you should be able to open recovery in normal mode.
I had the same problem as you last night when switching to stock hboot with touch recovery 8 but was fixed by doing what others have mentioned :s

u can try to check what happen when the screen goes black in recovery (try a stable one like CWM 2.5.0.7 or 5.0.2.0)..for example using adb to check the logs in the folder /cache/recovery/ (or something) and see if there is some error that can help you
anyway thats strange because the recovery to work correctly should need only /cache, /sdcard and trackball working..maybe one of these thing is broken in ur phone..
guys i dont know why, i got it, i flash the last RC version of 4ext via bootloader with PB99IMG ( http://www.4ext.net/PB99IMG.zip ) instead of flash it by fastboot shell and now my desire is back!
thank you all for helping
Nevermind. To late

Thankyou anyone for helping me.
I was trying to update my phone to the Maximus rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1601543) from an AOKP JB ROM.
I succesfully followed the instructions to relock my phone, the flash the firmware, then unlock it again. Unfortunately I was foolish and didn't think to copy across the rom.zip before doing this. I tried restoring a Nandroid backup but was stuck in a bootloop. I also tried reflashing the previous AOKP Rom that I had on there. In this case it booted but I had no radio, no wifi, and importantly I couldn't mount over USB to copy across the new ROM. I'm guessing neither method works because of the new HBOOT?
I went to this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1609190 and it's clear that I have to flash an RUU through fastboot to get back to a working state. Unfortunately All the RUU links for JB Roms as listed on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957376 seem to be dead so I can't download them. Similarly the links to older RUUs found here http://www.filefactory.com/f/e3e8b30e62a4a8aa/ all require a premium account because they are over the 500MB limit.
Can anyone tell me where I can please get an RUU to restore my phone to working order, or if there's another method available? Thankyou very much for your help.

Thankyou for the suggestion, but the problem with that method is that once again the ROM I want to flash has to be moved over to the virtal SD card of my phone. Since the ROM on it is currently not working I can't copy anything across to the SD card through the usual means. Is there a way I can copy it across using fastboot, as that is still working fine? I had a look at the fastboot help and there didn't seem to be any way. What I need is a ROM that can be flashed over fastboot, which I understand can be done with the stock RUUs?
I'm not panicking, I know that I will be able to get it back up and running, I just need a bit of help to get there.
Boot into bootloader and from there to recovery , mounts and storage - mount as USB ....and you have a working sd card to copy the rom.zip file to
Copy the rom.zip to the card and copy the boot.img from the rom.zip to the fastboot folder.
Flash the boot.img and flash the rom from recovery ..... Are u using cwm recovery 5.8.4.0

Thankyou so much for that suggestion. That would really help. I'm sorry, I don't know what I did, but now if I try to go into recovery the recovery flashes breifly on screen and then it resets. I tried reflashing it, using the All In One toolkit and using Fastboot.exe. I also tried flashing both the CWM recovery and the TWRP recovery, neither of them worked.
Thankyou for your help again, I'm sorry but recovery was working before, I think all I did was flash a boot.img but could that break recovery? I even tried going through the whole relock, flash firmware.zip, unlock, flash recovery procedure to see if that would work but it didn't.
Do a fastboot command
Put the phone in bootloader / fastboot USB menu
Fastboot erase cache
Check if you can enter recovery after that

Thankyou! That fixed the recovery issue. Once I could get into recovery I could copy across the ROM, flash it, flash boot.img (not that that was a problem) and my phone is now in woring order again.
Once again, many many thanks.
Glad you got it sorted !
