R800x Owners - Quick Links for Unlocked Bootloaders ONLY - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

----- UPDATED INFO ----- MARCH 28, 2012 - PaxChristos posted a similar guide for both Locked and Unlocked Bootloaders on AndroidForums. While my original guide is primarily intended to aid those with a locked bootloader, you may find it useful to know what else is out there for our R800x. The following information was copied from his Post there. I had this in my original guide, but decided to move it to avoid confusion.
For unlocked bootloaders onlyKernels
ICS
We have a ported CM9 (ICS) kernel that works just fine, link is in the rom section
Darkforest CM9 Kernel: [GSM][KERNEL] Darkforest CM9 Kernel | NO MORE ALS [v2][WIP]
ICX Kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1524159 (read for the link, once again, have tested and works fine.)
Gingerbread
MIUI
Darkforest MIUI kernel: [WIP][GSM]DarkforestKernel - MIUI - Version 2 Released [MIUI][KERNEL]
Stock
DoomLord's Kernel: [KERNEL][PLAY][CDMA] DooMKernel [Rel:TEST][Dt:29/JAN][FW:3.0.1.A.0.145]
Darkforest Kernel: Darkforest Kernel V1 [UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER] - links aren't working atm as they point to MultiUpload.
Pax's Kernel: [Kernel] [CDMA] [Unlocked Bootloader] Stock with overclock/recovery [V1.0] (note some people have had issues with it, I haven't test and see for yourself)
CM7 Kernel: See CM7 link below
ROMS
ICS
CM9: cm-9.0.0-RC0-zeusc-MODKANG.zip (kernel included in zip, it didn't work for me, but other people say it works for them. If you do use this, you'll wanna edit your build.prop to match this one: build.prop (instructions for install: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23726068&postcount=4
MIUIv4 (Based off CM9)" xda-developers - View Single Post - [ROM] (GSM) - ICS MIUI v4 (2.3.9) - Android 4.0.3 [UD 15/03] *RC0 MAJOR UPDATE* (Use Darkforest CM9 kernel)

Gingerbread:
MIUI v2.3.9: xda-developers - View Single Post - [WIP][CDMA] MIUI for the R800x (Read what Pax said on XDA, data doesn't work, but calls/sms do. Pax needs to look into data to fix it)
CM7: {GSM/CDMA}[DEVELOPMENT] - CM7.2.0 - FXP111 RELEASED - FreeXperia Project - xda-developers (READ, READ, READ before you install, lots of little bits hidden near the end of the thread (hint: look for agraceful if you wanna download it & your in the US.)
----- THANKS FOR THE UPDATED INFO, PAX !!! -----

Excellent work compiling info, as always, to both PaxChristos and netizenmt. This should be stickied, especially because CDMA stuff is always so hard to find around these parts. I'm happy for you GSM users, and am not jealous or hating, but we need some love, too!

CM7/MIUI Kernels

NOTE: Sold my I9000, hence can't support this thread, not that it needed much support
I have compiled a list of kernels that work on CM7 base. I used to have these in my signature but looks like this might be worthy of a thread considering the questions people keep asking on what kernels are compatible with the latest cm7 nightly etc etc and I don't see a similar thread.
NOTE: These kernels only work on roms that base on CM7 Nightly 123 and later ( CM7 nightly 123 and higher, Insanity 40 and higher, MIUI 1.9.30 and higher). Make sure you are on these before you try these kernels. I will keep this thread updated but if you see a newer version of any of these kernels posted in IRC, kernel thread or wherever, post it here and i will update this original post.
Glitch:
[2.6.35 base]
GlitchV12B3
Main Thread Here. Read all you want to learn about features but get the latest from the above link.
Neo Platypus:
[2.6.37 base] (NOTE: needs a full wipe due to a different linux base)
NeoXXBeta7
and
[2.6.35 base]
Neo17r18
Main Thread Here. Links above tell you the features included.
FuguMod:
[2.6.39 base] (NOTE: needs a full wipe due to a different linux base)
LatestVersion
Main Thread Here. Read about features, links to sources etc there.
After flashing this, if you are looking for stock CM7 kernel, try the attached Cm7_stock_kernel.zip. I pulled this from nightly 143. Worked fine for me. I flashed neo first, then flashed this and got stock kernel back.
If you screwed up something and lost recovery, try the attached KernelCMW2.tar file. Flash it using odin/heimdall, pull battery and put back, enter cwm and flash a CM7 based rom.
If any of the kernel developers have an issue with this thread contact me by PM.
Thanks to the following kernel developers/maintainers
TKGlitch/Sixstringsg ( current maintainer of glitch)
Zacharias Maladroit ( Neo Platypus)
Nikademus ( FuguMod)
CM7 team/pawitp ( current maintainer for stock CM7)
This pleases me ^^
would be great if you could provide some basic info about those kernels (features included) and/or link to their source. appreciated.

Press any link, there is info included.

There are only 3 different kernels and you didn't even provide any info or comparison beyond the linux upstream version.
What a completely pointless thread.

thats the goal of this thread. There are also links to learn what each kernel offers. No point providing info on battery life for each kernel etc as it would vary phone to phone.

[Q] Which ROM do you advise me to install ?

Hi
Should I install
this ROM
{PLAY}[DEVELOPMENT] - CM9.0 - FXP103b FreeXperia Project
or
this ROM
[rom][AOSP] ICX Beta 2-test 2 [ICS] [4.0.3]
And why ?
Are both prepared for daily usage?
Icx has no camera and data.
It is still in beta.
Sent from my R800i
I doubt you read those threads, at all.
I'd advice you to stay with stock.
You should definitly read those posts carefully. When asking these questions, and if u have already read the posts carefully, Please include your phone model,FW version, kernal, and build. It helps others help you. For one, You will have to have an unlocked BL, WHICH is dangerous if you don't know what SAFE mods you can perform. So, be sure to make backups of everything before flashing anything. Consider downloading a Stock Rom for your device in case you need to start completely over.
Here is a link to a post with a list of stock FTF(flash tool firmware) and roms and many other stuff. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1294129
Good Luck and Remember, You are responsible for what you do with your device.

The stock rom is pretty good as others have suggested. Root it and get rid of all the crapware and its just great.

[Q] Phone dialer after installing DarkForest 4.1.23

Does anyone elses in call dialer look like this after installing DarkForest 4.1.23 ROM. I'm using doomlord advanced ICS kernel.
plus.google.com/photos/104898468572844437566/albums/5732319666297587521/5732319667449398514. (I cant link to it yet I'm too new a member)
try this rom it has a lot less bugs than the other ics beta roms including dfr. and yes i had that same problem keiranftw said it will be fixed in next update along with other bugs. i'm just waiting for that release but untill then im on ics++.
MAKE SURE YOU USE DOOM'S ICS ADVANCED STOCK KERNEL
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599906
As stated above, the developer of Darkforest is working on fixing that right now, make sure to watch the thread for the ROM.
He updates quite frequently.

[Q] AK.801.Cylon kernel?

I have seen a lot of people refer to this kernel: AK.801.Cylon kernel. Is this the same as the ak kernel thread, like v.99 or whatever the newest build is, or is this a separate kernel? If so, link? If I google it, this page pop up, is this the latest of this kernel type:
Search google, AK.801.Cylon kernel:
http://server1.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390355257214632219
Is this the latest? And is this and AK kernel thread (Diamond and Rubik) the same? Can someone clarify, I am new to this phone so still trying to piece everything together, thank you.
Yes. It's the same thread. The dev anarkia1976 aka Stefano and his team of testers are extremely active towards the kernel development. The latest experimental version is SKL v200 and stable is Rubik v16.
Diamond was the name if the earlier experimental version.
(The dev is so active, that by the time you read this, there may be another kernel out.. )

[Q] [DEV Help] How to make a Custom ROM Based on Stock .96(XAS)

Guys .. I'm trying to develop my own rom based on Stock Acro S (JB .96) however there are many tutorials that are not giving a good development base for me, because there tutorials for ICS and JB using different tools and OS ...
I already developed my own kernel (not unlike the Stock Cabatro's .96) because I cant founding something concrete also talking about adding the governors / schedulers and modifying the frequency tables ... (I need help on this too)
In general wish someone would give me a faithful way forward to make the Beta ROM (Stock .96) and Kernel version modified to provide to users on forum for testing...
Any help on this would be great
(I Can Develop that on Ubuntu 12.04 and Windows 8.1)
