I found this thread made in the i9000 section
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038809&highlight=diy+dock
essentially this guy took a bunch of spare (or cheaply bought I'm not to sure) parts to make his own docking station for his phone which looks pretty awesome, and in my opinion the only thing missing from this is just the pogo pins which is pretty easy to add on to make bad ass nexus dock for our phone. It looks like a good guide to help someone build one themselves if they want to add bells and whistles to theirs to make it look good and multi-functional.
Links to the guide can be found here:
http://www.gregschier.com/2011/04/diy-galaxy-s-desktop-dock-part-1/
http://www.gregschier.com/2011/04/diy-galaxy-s-desktop-dock-part-2/
http://www.gregschier.com/2011/06/diy-galaxy-s-desktop-dock-part-3-complete/
hmm 255 views and nobody found this good enough to respond to it? thats to bad I thought for sure this would cause some sort of discussion about dock ideas. At the very least I hope it gives some people some ideas on what they can do with their own custom built ones.
Looks pretty tight. A good money saver. I'll try it later when I get home . Good post!

Dear devs, theme-makers and users. Anybody know if there is a theme with the gingerbread screen off animation?
Would love it on my sgs...

I want it too.
Gingerbread screen off animation is not available yet.
Well apparently CM7 has it.
I want it too! Will donate
It's not impossible, but its not feasible either.
Considering you're dealing with closed source and want to add opengl based code to a smali file, it could be tricky and definitely time consuming.
I'd advise just sit tight for a stable gingerbread firmware.
Cm7 has it because it is gingerbread...
They also added it to screen on so it must be transferable in some shape or form.. No idea how myself..
I have been wondering about this for days now, and I would love to see it on my vibrant
I would totally show that off to the best of my knowledge no phone has such a cool feature

+1 very keen for this! (+caps!)
Surely with so much hype over Gingerbread, this must have been found by someone?
I hope someone finds it soon and is able to implement it.
What really annoys me about this awesome feature is that an iPhone already has the ability to do it (albeit with a mod from the jailbroken community) after some guy spent 3 hours figuring out a solution. You'd think it'd be a lot easier for android phones (since it was originally, well, has been already designed for them) to support and implement it much better than an iPhone... well, that's just my opinion. I'm not too sure how easy it would be to make it work for our phones, and I'm more than happy to wait until someone wise can take the time to make it happen, but either way when it does eventually arrive you can count on me to add it onto every future rom I'll ever use.
ps. I'd link you all to the article about the iPhone mod but I don't have the rights to at the moment... sorry.
In norm terms
I wouldn't use trans, and I don't at the moment, no need to flash, just pure speed XD
But that said, I must admit, this I'll prob use Neat how it looks like an old analog television turns off, or this is what it makes me think of,
Nostalgia on Hightech
You all just have to read post #5.
I've been looking and... There's not exactly a best rom out there but I'm looking for something with a Good battery life.
So, let me know what rom are you using with kernel if you guys can help me. I'll appreciate it! Thanks.

There really isn't one good one. There are tons of great ones and to be honest all of our phones are pretty different chipset wise believe it or not so what rom may seem good for me might not be good for you. I personally switch between frostys and darthstalker which are both pretty good on the battery. You want better battery? Buy an extended battery for $20-$25 and you'll never complain about having to charge again.
Look at my resource guide, in my signature or stickied in general. We don't know how you use your phone so we can't tell you how your battery is going to be. Try yourself, and mess with settings for your needs.

Look at mt3g's Bible thread. That is why it is there.
All ROMs are subjective. Nandroid and flash them and see. Read the OPs and last 10 pages in the thread for bugs and whatnot. Like what you see? Grab a drink, sit down and start reading.

so i've been apart of the xda community for a while and i decided i want to go a little deeper than just flashing/themeing. i want to build from source (slimrom for d2tmo preferably) i'm going into this blind and i definitely have a machine that can handle it so does anyone have any tips for me to start off with?
jamison has a great thread on all of it. Rootbox has a great write up, there are about 25 other write ups if they missed out on things to cover. Also sure there are a plenty of YouTube tutorials. I'm still debating on building a computer for myself (or have a friend do it) so I can start building by the end of summer.
Good luck bud.

True story. I built my most recent one over a year ago and its still a great feeling to fire it up and mess around on it

Hi, I'm Gabe and I'm new as you can see... So I just rooted my device and I'm looking for a very stable and very customization rom.
My ex used to handle this stuff.. But we aren't together anymore so I'm doing it myself.
I want
Good battery life
Customization ability like lots of themes!
Stability
Cool SMS themes and stuff I hate my galaxy sms layout agh.
I hate touchwiz sorry.
Ps. I'm a girl btw everyone just calls me gabe
Gabe first thing first. Questions go in the Q&A section not in the General section. As far as asking which the best rom is also like a pointless question as they all are. It's user preference what's going to make the rom perfect for you. All these types of which is best threads end up locked. Maybe you should start with this thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38172219 there is lots of useful information. Then just try which ones appeal to you and choose which is best for you.

Might I ask what you didn't like about it?
I mean the device its, the buttons, etc? Maybe can guide you to a 'better' device more suited for you.

Actually I think I just miss my iphone thats why I'm selling it. I been using my blackberry because it actually is faster when i'm texting and stuff. I liked CM10 but it just wasn't what I thought. I love my android I wish I could keep both but I won't be able. I just have to find a buyer which has been very hard.
I'm considering finding a good trade or something either iphone or blackberry torch but probably iphone. But it's still rooted and I'm not very sure about unrooting and stuff things like this requires lots of thought and I don't like thinking a lot lol.
I really do appreciate your response though =]

Mmm, I see, well that's respectable. Personally, not a fan either but we all have choices.
If you're trying to sell your GS III, you might want to try listing it on swappa.com ; they sell androids and if you price it 'reasonably' you should get a buyer probably easily. Doing ^, you can list it as root, and the buyer will probably want it like that, saying you trouble. Though if you really need help unrooting, I can help you with that.

I'm a nursing student an a Iphone would suit me better because it last awhile for me and I would defiantly need a stable device. I posted a ad on swappa I'm hoping I did it correctly and for a reasonably price I saw a Iphone 5 on their pretty cheap I hope I get enough for the galaxy to buy it.
Ok, so I finally got me a device that I intend to stick with as long as I can, that device being a Galaxy Note N7000 (never liked the US versions with all capacitive front buttons, gotta have that physical Home one). Now I'm looking through the case threads and I found one that I absolutely love but of course because I'm like ~2 years late to the party, so to speak, the case isn't made anymore and my chances of actually locating one are somewhere between null and void, perhaps slim to none, zip, zilch, zero, that sort of thing.
But, then again, perhaps someone out there might have one they don't use anymore, or they might just know of a little "hole in the wall" website that has one, who knows, hence me asking. I noticed it in the "Post your Cases Here" thread in a post by another member, dellwole, but he/she apparently hasn't logged in for a very very long time so I doubt reaching out to him/her would prove useful.
This is the case:
It's listed at the original Tridea site as: FLIP Case (Diary style) for GALAXY Note
I know it's a shot in the dark, but it's the best looking case I think I've ever seen (personal opinion there, stand back...) and I really would love to find one if at all possible - I know there are similar ones but I'll put my effort into locating one of these (even used as long as it's in good shape). If anyone has any info that could potentially prove helpful, a finger in the right direction, even a "I know this guy who used to work with a dude that has a cousin who knows Ferris Bueller..." type thing, I'd appreciate hearing about it.
Have fun, always...

easy... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRIDEA-Ga...t=US_Cell_Phone_PDA_Cases&hash=item1e6e8d9078 but no brown sadly
Close but no cigar, and yes I'd found that one in my searching.
It's very close but not the same case (different materials, and the enclosure) - I suppose I could get one and then just use a razor to slice off the enclosure piece, it might end up being my only choice unfortunately. And yes, that brown one is precisely what I'll keep looking for, thanks.
The hunt continues...
I've the Elago G4 Handmade Genuine Leather for International Galaxy Note - Folder type.
I suggest you to see..!
