So which ICS is better??? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

[ROM] ***SkyRocket-ICS-Port-SGH-T989*** OR [ROM] [cwm]-ICS-4.0.3-Self-Kang .. . . are they the same or whats the difference?
which one is more stable and complete??
THANK u!!

The Skyrocket version is the AT&T TW leak and has working data and voice (works well other then auto rotation).
The other is AOSP (stock android) but does not fully function yet (no data or voice). This is the version I will be using once fully functional.

so for right now is best to stick with the port until the other one works

Raverx3x is more promising and what ics should be.the other is much more functional.to me raverx3x is a lot faster.

he said it's more promising...
so when it does have data working.. expect the majority of the users to be using it.

where can I go to follow development updates on these two ROM now that their threads are closed? will the devs just create a new thread once they release a new update?

there is a thread in this section and another one in the general section (the skyrocket test thread-people have been using that one) for the skyrocket port...i would assume that there is gonna be a new thread in the development section once an update arrives seeing as that is a DEVELOPMENT topic...but with all the thread locking going on..who knows

i wish but seriously how come there are no AOSP roms for the ET4G?
ICS sourced dropped like a week ago, the device has been out for a couple months
The biggest problem is that there is no aosp kernel right now that works. So once we have that there is a better chance at getting aosp roms.

Well there's supposedly a build of CM7 Kang that works quite well on the SGSIIE4GT with some mod work. It was also sent to one of our main devs, Viper boy, and I'm pretty sure he and his team are ripping that thing apart line by line to make it work the best it can. They like to release finished products and they literally just got it yesterday... so.. idk hopefully soon!!!

Just curious, will it help once the Nexus-S 4G gets the official ICS Android 4.0 update from Google + Sprint, can any of that code be used to help make a ICS ROM for our E4T ?
Don't both phones share the same CDMA radios, and some similar Samsung hardware ?

Hold up: Who exactly did you "clarify" that with? I'm only curious because I was the one who sent that kanged Rom to Viperboy, and it was MOST DEFINITELY NOT an ICS Rom when I sent him the link to my Dropbox. When, exactly, did it morph from a tired CM7 build into an ICS ROM?
Am I now known as an "underground smuggler" of ICS ROMs??
(Lol)

Telus phone rooted with clockwork mod recovery. I want stock optimized jb rom.

Hey guys, I'm super newbie to all this. I rooted my phone with an optimized ics rom about a month ago. It was a T-Mobile from however. It made my better life awesome. But it was still touch wiz etc. Then jb came out right after.
Is there a dev who is making a jb from for telus that is optimized for battery life and no touchwiz?
Can someone point me in the right direction. Thanks a million.

All you can do is wait and see. There's an alpha cm10 out for the skyrocket and ported to our phone...but still has bugs and no camera...as far as tw jb there's n/a and just so you know this thread is for development there's already a job topic on the general section.

You have two choices flash with CWM or odin. Mostly all the roms in here are setup to be flashed with clockwork. Please read the stickies in development and wickys to get yourself better acquainted with your phone and flashing...... Questions to the masses may bring up more opinions than fact.

Telus Galaxy S 2 X (T989D) To Receive Official JB Update Late Decmeber

Was just reading through MobileSyrup and came across this article.
Nice to see that we will be officially getting the update to JB. I know we have been able to get it for months via AOSP, but still nice to see what the TW version will have to offer.
Proceed to link below for info:

Wouldn't the TW rom from Samsung help the AOSP devs port over certain features like Project Butter and other?

Sucks how it still says testing pending... I wonder if we'll get a mysterious leak from Telus/Koodo or T-Mobile to test it for them lol. Can't wait for it anyways. Eager to get the vibration back to normal and also for the ROMs to be actually smooth
Please put all the JB discussion in the Official JellyBean Discussion thread stickied in this section.
Thanks to all

The original t mobile roms are exclusively for us.. the development section is for us as well..cause most of the roms have no modem so you will be fine.. just don't stray from are section..are you could be asking for trouble.. I've flashed most of them so it's all good bro... I recommend the Rom from dwitherel it's called tweaked 1.5 my opinion the best one by far brother..

Good suggestion above. I'll answer your question though if the difference. Original are built from source and the devs work. Development is the dev using stock based or a kang of someone's work.

I think the difference between the two is just that tge original development is for when there's was not a section for the device yet... So just a couple of ROM and some stickies.. Now is like original for aosp and development for touchwiz...hopefully that's the reason why lol

What I noticed is that in original, it's AOSP based. In development, it's Touch Wiz based. I could be wrong, just look at the majority of roms listed in each forum.

And that's kind of what it ends up being because TW based are of course just development because they use Samsung work, but you'll also see some unofficial AOSP builds in the development section. They used to have a stickie explaining the difference, but it seems like it's gone.

Original Development means just that, original work not derived from a preexisting ROM for our device already. In example something built from source. All touchwiz ROMs are derived from either an offical release or leak from Samsung, meaning it's not original and falls into the Android Development section. All stock ROMs that are tweaked, themed, or ported from another device will fall into this category. Original development is not limited to AOSP ROMs, but all kernels as well since they are built from source. Another example of original development would be meego, or FirefoxOS if someone gets those built for our device. People are misreading the sections, they are BOTH Android Development Sections, one is just reserved for original work as I previously covered. Cheers.
