K thanks and what about my photos?

Flashing a new ROM won't wipe your sd card so photos music etc are all safe.

Even if i do a full wipe and delte chache ?
Sent from my SGH-T989D using XDA

As long as they are on your memory card you are safe as long as you don't choose to wipe your sd card. If on internal memory and you do a full wipe you will lose them.

full wipe does not delete your internal storage.
you would need to format EMMC to do that.
but anyways, wiping data, caches, and formatting the system does not touch any of your storage so it should be safe.
Oh and mybackup root is actually really helpful for backing up and restoring apps, it's quicker in my opinion.

Am I wiping everything or not?

i read somewhere (yet to test) if you wipe data in CWM that it doesnt wipe virtual sd (pics, videos, songs, etc..)...but if u wipe from the factory reset option under settings in the phone, then it does wipe everything...is this true?
Wiping data and cache in CWM do not wipe the virtual SD card but yes, factory resetting will.

[Q] Internal memory after flashing

How much internal memory should I have left a after flashing a room.
I'm on liquidsmooth 2.3 official and I have like 1 gb of internal mem left. I was flashing 4.1.1 roms earlier to see if I wanted to change roms and I noticed that I also had only about 1-2 gb of internal mem left.
Should I be having more? I need 2gb for a game that I just bought and I can't do that if I only have 1 gb left over

Depends how many files you have on your internal memory. You probably have too many, I have 8.92gb available

Am I wiping my data wrong? I usually do a factory reset then wipe cache and d cache. Am I suppose to format data? I'm using twrp

Factory reset will only delete apps in internal memory and some settings, no other things.. If you use format data it will delete everything in your internal memory but I would be very careful with that because you would obviously lose any files, backups, pictures, or any other things you have in there.. Just browse your internal memory with a file explore and clean anything you don't want or need anymore, or simply back everything up and completely wipe it

Formating doesn't wipe my sd card does it? Think I read that in twrp it wipes sd card. Or is this false?

Formatting data? No it shouldn't, but just take it out to have a piece of mind lol.. It'll only wipe the internal sd

[Q]Formatting Internal SD Card

Hi!
I have tried googling answers, but I can't seem to find a clear one. My question is, how can I format the internal SD card? I remember from my past android phones (skyrocket, infuse, HTC vivid) I was able to format the internal through settings. I can't seem to do that now...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In cwm, go to mounts and storage, there should be an option that says format external sd.
While the phone is on, go into system settings and the syorage, scroll down it ahould let u format the sd card from there aswell.

Root browser

OK when I boot into cwm and I have zip files that I down loaded and put into cwm and flash them and stuff but they are not in my root browser. But when I boot into recovery they are there

Are you using the actual app called root browser? Also are you looking at the same directory?

You're looking for old files from when you were on the lg software..
In root explorer they are in
Data/media/
On my s3 I would use TB and back up all my apps and data and when I flash a new ROM I would just do a batch reinstall of all my ****. Now I can't do that because I can't move apps to my SD card and I had stuff on TB but when you do a full wipe you lose it all. So I tried moving the back up to my SD card and it will not read that back up of TB on my SD card

I don't follow you...when I full wipe it doesn't format my internal sdcard..
Now again when I switched to cm10 from stock I had to manually go to
data/media/ and I had to move my entire titanium folder to the new internal sdcard location and then titanium found my backups fine.
I think he wiped the internal SD.

Formatting sd

I want to format my phone to clean all the crap files iv accumulated. If I format through twrp, will it just reinstall the current rom I'm running? Did this before on my s4, just want to make sure. Thanks guys

Like internal storage you meant? I always do that on top of cache and dalvik wipe to get a full clean install and no trace of previous rom. To be on safe side always have nand backup when doing that.

Yeah like if I go to wipe, then select all except system or that also?

Factory reset, advance wipe, then I wipe cache, dalvik, system, data and internal storage. I have all my back ups in external card including copy of titanium backup for data. Then I flash any custom rom.
