hey every one. I was messing with my phone in the about phone section. and came across a divX registration. does any one else know about this and or if it will help with video playback?
to get there you go into settings/about phone/ legal information/license settings/divX VOD/ register
We already have Divx Playback I believe, or Xvid. Best way is to try a vid in the format.

you shouldnt need to do anything with that. Our phones are divx certified.
http://www.divx.com/en/electronics/categories/mobile-phones
under the DivX Qualified HD 720p (1280x720) section. and xvid is just the knock off or the open source version of divx.
I was thinking maybe it was something. Like. Netflix or hulu on the xbox. Its to link the device to play stuff you paid for. Thanks

probably not the right codec. You may need to convert it first to h264 baseline if it doesnt play with any player.
I use Best VPlayer Pro1.1.2 from the market and it plays the *.mov files taken from iDevices without much problems and it is free

Can you tell what format the video sent to you is in? I personally feel that MoboPlayer is better than Rockplayer and it may be able to handle the video.
Conversion is never the best solution. Sometimes, Apple names them with a particular file extension, which is really another. I know that is confusing, but if you can tell us the format of the video from the iPhone, we can help you more easily.
My girl sends me txts with videos from her iPhone and I use handcent sms to watch them with no problems.
Best video player pro works great! Thank u!

Ill try it out.
Are you sure it doesn't just save the video as an mp3?

Tubemate!! They give you the option to download in MP3, FLV, SD, & HD if the Youtube video has it. I've had it since forever. Its great. Google search it. I think the link is tubemate.net Its like tubex except that tubex is a rip off copy. I've had tubemate since before tubex came out and yeah, tubex is a copy.

I haven't tried the options out myself but they are there for most videos. It also allows you to play all yotube video in mp4 format or 3GP (high or low quality) even if they aren't suited for mobile phone, I have used this feature before.

I've been using TubeMate as well and have had no issue's downloading YouTube files and with great quality and choices.
I still like keepvid better, it does everything you guys stated, and isn't limited to just YouTube videos as its source.
I recently used VLC to rip my copies of LoTR to my PC (which I then placed on my GS2). I used the default settings in VLC to rip LoTR and it looks great on my PC. Yet the playback on the GS2 is very choppy. Anyone have any ideas on what to do or if this is the correct place for this question or even if this has been discussed in some way. Thanks

What video player you using??
MXvideo player seems to work fine(some vids have no audio) as well as Vplayer, the new Vplayer seems to support HW accel on our devices ...
Both MX and Vplayer. As well as qq, regular player, and mplayer seem to choppy. Maybe it is how I ripped it. But the GS2 should play regular mp4 just fine...
