[Q] why 3.6 update instead of 4.0? - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

Any idea why our phone is getting sense 3.6 in its ics update instead of sense 4.0?

Because the image chip technology that is used in the new HTC One series. However, nitsuj is making a sense 4 port for our phones.
It's the best! Beats the rest!

sense 4.0 is reserved for ics launch phones (atm only the one series) but will be interesting to see if non one series phones like inc 3/hd gets it or not
sense 3.6 is fine, and will be welcome when its official...hopeuflly the 3.xx kernel and libs/bins help us with sense 4 ports

Too bad.... No kernel source, Pure Sense vs Expresso, GB vs Froyo, different camera libraries (8 mega vs 5 mega, with additional processing for instant on)... Who ever ports this will be just like all the other crappy ports of Sense 2.1 we have all over the forums... you will have weird bugs, weird crashes, things don't work right etc etc... Once a real kernel source is released, then we can talk about a real port....

correct it is new 3.0, plus w/o kernel source, keep in mind that this ROM is designed for dual-core MSM8260 chipset, so im sure itll be a little fun to play with and try and get working
I've had no problems at all with the sense 2.1 port I'm running
a few things don't work right, but they're pretty minor for most people
So now that there is a dump what else is needed for a port

I remember they said the same thing about the original sense running on the G1/MT3G, but. It did, although it was more of a space issue than chip issue. Besides Gingerbread doesn't even support dual core, a couple games might, but the OS itself doesn't. That won't happen until ice cream.
Of course without the kernel source there are gonna be bugs. Cams won't work, funny wifi and Bluetooth. The usual stuff. But it will be fun to play with.

Why not XL
Yap and Desire HD already has Sense 4.0 rom, not everything works but hey at least it have it ,and DHD is very similar phone, almost the same in every aspect
Yeah I'm still waiting for some dev who interested in porting this to outt device... Hopefully some1 will show up...
Oh come on, where are you devs?
Not too happy to hear that this leak is just the HTC Sense 4 Light version as it comes with the One V. Some features are missing like the weather, friendstream lockscreen,... quick settings... etc

Well it affected many functions of the phone I doubt it
Using this on my Desire S. Much much much faster than 3.5.
This ROM is perfect because it has the same specs as our phone.
Why do you want a One X port? We will need to resize images etc, and will be slower as its designed for a quad-core phone, we are only on a single core, with less RAM.
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda premium
you are right. Its damn fast. But however, the ROM is just as fast, because a lot is missing (Widgets, Lockscreen etc.). It is not so comfortable as the real Sense 3.5 or 4.0. The sense here is 4.0 light, which is similar to Sense 2.1
The One X, based on real Sense 4.0 Engine

Already been using it... I was using it since October, when the first Sense 3.0 ROMs were available
Sense is laggy when opening notifications, app drawer etc. Not like 4.0
Sent from my Desire S using xda premium
Not sire what you guys mean with laggy... Im come from desire.. and for sure...i know what lags are.. on desire also aosp roms have lags.. and now i have a phone with soo much speed.. no lockscreen lags.. even if a call comes.. i can push the symbol really smooth into the ring.. no slide lags during slide between homescreens.. i always use much htc widgets... After i play some 3d gameloft game.. no lag... I dont need data2ext scripts.. as there is engouh internal mem.. even in gameing no lag.. eg : asphalt, nfs, and other...mmmhh.. but im on stock rom @the moment 1. 05
Anyway.. also would like to see a sense 4 rom... Will look if i get some time free.. hope some other want work on that too.. maybe we can use the xe version.. and combine with kernel and hw drivers from sense 3. 6 (which allready work on our phones)...was a idea...
Also we can do some kernel optimations.. @the moment only for gb... So it would be nice again if we get official ics and also get the kernel as source...
Sent from my HTC Sensation XL with Beats Audio X315e using XDA
Well ics kernel source for xl should be out soon as official ics dropping soon. These so called lags for me are non existent and maybe some are expecting too much. Rosie was and will always be a memory hog and any widget can cause maybe a slight delay in transition. No roise is ever smooth no matter what is done to it.

well, for the source yes...but for the lags...mmhh..i also have some lags...not big lags...but in compare to gb...ics is slower at the moment...but i think the official rom..as custom dont have it.. but yes true for rosie...but anyway...best launcher and best widgets...(we know how many third party software copy the style)
with kind regards
just downloaded...hope we get the official update soon...if so...one of all devs here should make a development thread...so we can speak together instead of each individually...so we can make ics sense 4 to work...there are also roms for desire hd out...but with things not working...we are in a better situation...we get a ics update...so we have original drivers...etc...so we should have a better start....
good to have custom recoverys...so we can do a nand backup...go back every time back to daily driver in testing
with kind regards

Ice Cream Sandwich w/Sense 3.6 or 4.0?

I'm going to get an Evo 4g soon from a friend who doesn't need it, and I've been searching for a custom ICS Sense 3.6 or Sense 4.0 like on the new HTC ics phones.
I haven't found anything however, so if someone could find or create a sense 3.6/4.0 rom for the Evo 4g, I would appreciate it.
there is no ics sense 3.6/4.0 roms as of yet for the evo 4g
we are still missing a kernel. we have to wait for some source to be released so our devs can make a booting kernel, or at least try to port one....
btw our best bet would be to try to port the One V sense 4.0A since the one v matches our specs in hardware terms like proccessor speed and ram. so that should run pretty smooth on our evo 4g

That rom doesn't work on the evo
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA
If and when an ics sense Rom (3.0,3.5,6,4.0) it would be nice. But do not expect it to run well. Would be an act of god if it was somewhat smooth being that energy and warm 2.3, both sense 3.5 gb roms are borderline laggy IMO. While the devs for those two roms are AMAZING, theres just only so much this phone can do with its limited hardware which is one of the reasons it will not be receiving an ics ota. When some sort of source kernel drops someday god knows when, devs will make it work. Wish I still had my EVO to test out when it happens. I miss it

If there was, it would be here. However, since your post is a request/question, it should either be in the General forum or Q&A. Please PM a Mod to have it moved .
There is a Sense 4.0a port in progress (Primo) - that's really your best bet, if you don't want Sense 3.5.

Why not? Is it not possible or something. Or is it that no one is interested in making it?
Yea none as of now, but i think a dev asked on a thread a while back agon if the people wanted a sense 3.6 rom. so we may get one pretty soon.
Plus, i would go with sense 4.0a when its done, since it'll run smoother on our older hardware than 3.6

PrimOG is sense 4a which is a stripped down version of sense 4. The htc one V(primo) has a 1ghz single core processor and 512mb of RAM just like the evo4g so in theory it should run faster then sense 3.6
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA
Sense 4.0a specifically. In other words, the primog rom. It would run smoother because sense 4.0a is what runs on the HTC One V, the lowest spec phone in the one series. The one v's specs are pretty much the same as the evo 4g. 512 ram, 1 ghz processor . I think 3.6 is made for phones with more ram than ours

So all you really need is a gingerbread AOSP rom, most likely cyanogenmod. UNLESS you WANT eyecandy, in which case Sense 4.0a has enough without sacrificing nearly as much power as 3.6 does.

Having used Sense 3.0 on GB long before Sense 3.5, 3.6, and 4.0 long before ICS or JB came out, I can tell you that newer versions of Sense and Android are FAR superior. What about Sense 3.0 makes it desirable?
